  • How do I fix a corrupt .cab file?

    In Windows XP, I have a folder of install files- an .exe pointing to 3 Setup.cab files. As the install progresses, it hangs on Setup2.cab as it installs tutorial_page.chm (a Help file). I have 3 options when it hangs: Abort, Retry and Ignore. Both Abort and Ignore rollback the install and exit. But if I keep pressing Retry the install will progress & this action has successfully installed the program (eventually) for me. I AM WONDERING IF I CAN EXTRACTRE-PACKAGE THE .CAB? From the installed program can I grab the help.chm file and replace it into Setup2.cab for a successful install? I am aware of the Microsoft Cabinet Software Development Kit http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310618 and How To Manually Modify and Rebuild CAB Files http://support.microsoft.com/kb/176810 but 1.)want to ask if this is even possible & 2.)don't know how to make a .DDF file for Makecab.exe

    I have a file that is similar to this: <many lines of stuff> SUMMARY: <some lines of stuff> END OF SUMMARY I want to extract just the stuff between SUMMARY and END OF SUMMARY. I suspect I can do this with sed but I am not sure how. I know I can modify the stuff in between with this: sed "/SUMMARY/,/END OF SUMMARY/ s/replace/with/" fileName (But not sure how to just extract that stuff). I am Bash on Solaris.

    When connecting to network drives (e.g. using ExpanDrive) every operation takes a long time. I've discovered this is due to the Finder trying to render an icon preview of every music file and PDF it encounters. Over the network, this can take a long time. I know I can turn off icon previews on a per-folder basis using the "View Options" dialog. Is it possible to change these settings globally?

    I currently have my computer setup to share its videos, music, and pictures as a media server so I can easily access all of my stuff from my PS3 and play it on my TV (since I can't connect my computer directly to my TV). However, my dad also has his laptop setup as a media server, for whatever reason, and both of them use the same "Windows Media Player" icon in the list. It's not a huge issue, but I was wondering if it was possible to somehow change what icon gets sent out by your computer to other devices when it's acting as a media server, and how?

    Hi, I want set icon to my folder in My external hard drive but when I change it (by right click on it and -> properties -> customize -> change icon (i address the icon from my extenal hard drive)) it just change in my windows and when plug my extenarnal-hard to another windows it's don't show my icon! how should fix this? P.S: is there a way to set icon for folder show in all os (linux, windows, OSX, ..) note: I don't want set icon to 1 drive I want set icon to all my folder in my drive.

    I need to extract a specific Id from a html document but the problem is that the id must not "be used". Here is the html content http://pastebin.com/wF2dx8JZ As you may see there are different html blocks . Some of them contain the "Used" word so I need to extract only the first id which is not used. Basically I can write a simple pattern like : $pattern = "/javascript:tw(.*))/"; preg_match_all($pattern, $content, $matches); $id = $matches[1][0]; However in this case I'm also getting the "ids" which are used so I don't know how to exclude them from the equation . Any idea would be highly appreciated.

  • Shouldn't emesene themes change the emesene indicator icon?

    As it stands right now, I can't get the emesene icon in the indicator applet (or notification area, or whatever it's named) to change. No matter what icon theme I choose, even installing new themes, the icon is always the default one. Is that a standard behavior, or am I getting a bug? I'm running the latest version of emesene from their ppa (1.6-dev), on Lucid Lynx.

    I'm trying to make a PHP regex to extract functions from php source code. Until now i used a recursive regex to extract everything between {} but then it also matches stuff like if statements. When i use something like: preg_match_all("/(function .(.))({([^{}]+|(?R))*})/",$this-data,$matches2); It doesn't work when there is more than 1 function in the file (probably because it uses the 'function' part in the recursiveness too). Is there any way to do this? Example file: <?php if($useless) { echo "i don't want this"; } function bla($wut) { echo "i do want this"; } ?> Thanks

  • Configuring favicon with expires header in htaccess

    I have implemented Expires headers via mod_expires on my Apache server and have successfully created expires headers for most file types, however I am having trouble with the favicon. I initially tried adding a set of instructions for the .ico files but when checking via YSlow it has no expiry set. When this didn't work I amended it to be a GIF, however this seems to have the same issue. Other gif's on the website have correctly set expires headers (accoridng to YSlow at least). Can anyone shed any light on this situation?

    For XFCE (v. 4.8), I'm searching for possible options to minimize windows to tray (iconify). This means that 1) they're not in the window listing and 2) they're not in the alt+TAB menu and 3) when closed, the window hides (it disappears from window listing but still stays running). "alltray" has some weird GTK-related bug (https://bugs.launchpad.net/alltray/+bug/589831; windows hide but unhiding doesn't do anything; they stay in the tray icon until the user undocks them). "trayer" complains that "another systray is already running" and there's no obvious workaround. This question here is to ask about possible minimalistic (as everything in XFCE is) solutions which don't involve manual compiling, and aren't an overkill like cairo-dock is (a rather bloated gnome-style application which creates a new large 'tray' instead of using the existing one).     My version of Firefox is 3.5.9, but I've had this issue since single-image tabs started showing a thumbnail of the contained image. Typically, a tab containing a single image will use a thumbnail of the image as the icon before the tab title. Sometimes, though, this icon will be the generic “shaded sphere on blank page” (or perhaps whatever your theme defaults to). I'm guessing this happens whenever height or width is larger than 1024, but I seem to recall (perhaps erroneously) exceptions to this rule. Anyway, hopefully someone will know the definite answer to: Why does this happen?     After finding out adding an autorun on a flash drive to change the icon to actually look like your flash drive, then after finding out that it'd work for Hard Drives too, I started to wonder if you could change your whole computer's icon so other computers on your network could actually see your physical computer. I doubt that there's a way to do this, but if there is, it'd be pretty cool. :D

    Hi all. It has been a long time since I started to compare the gnome desktop to the windows desktop. But since I began to use linux, I realized that the "gnome way" to align the icons on Desktop is not that nice for me. And comparing to Windows's way, windows is better for me. (remember, for me). I'd like to know if anyone has some tip to make "gnome desktop icon alignment" more like windows do. I tried to reduce the icon's size, did something, but was not that all. So, could anyone tell another tip? I like when I put something on windows desktop, and wherever I put the file, Windows organize the file and put the icon right after the last icon (in a cascade style) (and automatically). Any tips?

The only way I found yet was to do something like that: var temp = document.createElement("div"); temp.innerHTML = HttpRequest.innerText; document.body.appendChild(temp); temp.innerHTML = document.getElementByID("WantedElement").innerText; But it is pretty ugly, I would like to extract WantedElement directly from the request without adding it to the actual document...
