• Force php through the .net engine in iis7

  I have converted a php to asp.net mvc and have it hosted with the Rackspace cloud. All works great apart from some php links are still linked from other sites and within search engines. My question is what do I need to add to my web.config to force php sites to go through the .net engine? These links work as expected as I can catch the 404 and redirect where need be:- http://www.securahome.net/myjunk.info http://www.securahome.net/myjunk.phpp However this one doesn't:- http://www.securahome.net/myjunk.php I have spoken to Rackspace cloud and they say "its not possible as IIS doesn't recognize php files. You can setup mime types to handle them" This however makes no sense and I think they did not understand the problem. Does anyone have a solution?

• Force line-buffering of stdout when piping to tee

  Usually, stdout is line-buffered. In other words, as long as your printf argument ends with a newline, you can expect the line to be printed instantly. This does not appear to hold when using a pipe to redirect to tee. I have a C++ program, a, that outputs strings, always \n-terminated, to stdout. When it is run by itself (./a), everything prints correctly and at the right time, as expected. However, if I pipe it to tee (./a | tee output.txt), it doesn't print anything until it quits, which defeats the purpose of using tee. I know that I could fix it by adding a fflush(stdout) after each printing operation in the C++ program. But is there a cleaner, easier way? Is there a command I can run, for example, that would force stdout to be line-buffered, even when using a pipe?

  When you have a button, and do something like: Private Function Button_OnClick Button.Enabled = False [LONG OPERATION] End Function Then the button will not be grayed, because the long operation prevents the UI thread from repainting the control. I know the right design is to start a background thread / dispatcher, but sometimes that's too much hassle for a simple operation. So how do I force the button to redraw in disabled state? I tried .UpdateLayout() on the Button, but it didn't have any effects. I also tried System.Windows.Forms.DoEvents() which normally works when using WinForms, but it also had no effect.

  I'm trying to use adodb for db access in my webapp. However my hosting provider has mysql case sensitive, and I have all my fields in lowercase. But when I call getInsertSQL function, I got them in uppercase. Is there a way to force adodb to use lowercase? I tried with define('ADODB_ASSOC_CASE', 0); $ADODB_ASSOC_CASE = 0; But it seems to be ignored as the constant is suppose to be used only with oracle, MSSQL and other DBMS $conn = &ADONewConnection($this->DbType); $conn = PConnect($dbServer,$dbUser, $dbPassword,$database); $tableName = "sample"; $insertSQL = $conn->GetInsertSQL($tableName,$objDB); And I got the SQL statement with the column names in uppercase.

  Hi, I'm looking for a regex or a way to format the NumberValidator so that only decimal places are allowed. The domain="real" allows you to put integer values, but I need to force the user to but in 2.0 if they want an integer. This is because they pass through a Castor mapping file, it complains if it gets an integer when it expects a decimal. I dont want to restrict the number of decimal places, just insist that there must be a point, and a number after it. Any help would be much appreciated.

  I have the piece of code that reads data from file. I want to force IOException in this code for testing purpose (I want to check if code throws correct custom exception in this case). Is there a some way to create a file which is protected from being read, for example? Maybe dealing with some security checks can help? • Android / Java rare and seemingly impossible exception causing force close

  Hello all, I have an interesting problem being reported to me from an android application I have published. I have a two-dimensional array that I am iterating through using two for loops like so: for (int i = 0; i < arr.length; ++i) { for (int j = 0; j < arr[i].length; ++j) { if (arr[i][j] != 0) // does stuff } } The problem is, somehow arr[i][j] != 0 is throwing an ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException. But very rarely. I have thousands of people use the app on a daily basis and get maybe twenty force close reports. Is this something I can't avoid, maybe a problem with the phones memory, etc. or is there something I can do that I haven't thought of yet? Thanks.

  Hey, I would like users to upload links on my site. When another user clicks on the link (e.g. PDF file), then I would like the download popup to show instead of actually displaying the PDF in browser. I know I can use Response.AddHeader/Response.WriteFile to achieve this, but the WriteFile method required a virtual path. However, the links uploaded by the user will be pointing to external servers.   Hi i want to design a custom View where I need to recalculate my layout and redraw when user changes something. To force a onLayout(), the only solution that works for me until now is: onLayout(true, 0, 0, 0, 0); invalidate(); Of course that gives me a lint error and I have to add a @SuppressLint("WrongCall"). So there must be a smarter solution. Calls of forceLayout or requestLayout didn't work. Probably they only put a request on a stack but don't react immediately. As my view has no child elements and I do the drawing inside all by myself, could be I'm bypassing some Android design guides and abusing some principles.   A C++ class I'm writing uses shared_from_this() to return a valid boost::shared_ptr<>. Besides, I don't want to manage memory for this kind of object. At the moment, I'm not restricting the way the user allocates the object, which causes an error if shared_from_this() is called on a stack-allocated object. I'd like to force the object to be allocated with new and managed by a smart pointer, no matter how the user declares it. I thought it could be done through a proxy or an overloaded new operator, but I can't find a proper way of doing that. Is there a common design pattern for such usage? If it's not possible, how can I test it at compile time?

• Security Access Control With Solaris Virtualization

  Numerous Solaris customers consolidate multiple applications or servers on a single platform. The resulting configuration consists of many environments hosted on a single infrastructure and security constraints sometimes exist between these environments. Recently, a customer consolidated many virtual machines belonging to both their Intranet and Extranet on a pair of SPARC Solaris servers interconnected through Infiniband. Virtual Machines were mapped to Solaris Zones and one security constraint was to prevent SSH connections between the Intranet and the Extranet. This case study gives us the opportunity to understand how the Oracle Solaris Network Virtualization Technology —a.k.a. Project Crossbow— can be used to control outbound traffic from Solaris Zones. Solaris Zones from both the Intranet and Extranet use an Infiniband network to access a ZFS Storage Appliance that exports NFS shares. Solaris global zones on both SPARC servers mount iSCSI LU exported by the Storage Appliance.  Non-global zones are installed on these iSCSI LU. With no security hardening, if an Extranet zone gets compromised, the attacker could try to use the Storage Appliance as a gateway to the Intranet zones, or even worse, to the global zones as all the zones are reachable from this node. One solution consists in using Solaris Network Virtualization Technology to stop outbound SSH traffic from the Solaris Zones. The virtualized network stack provides per-network link flows. A flow classifies network traffic on a specific link. As an example, on the network link used by a Solaris Zone to connect to the Infiniband, a flow can be created for TCP traffic on port 22, thereby a flow for the ssh traffic. A bandwidth can be specified for that flow and, if set to zero, the traffic is blocked. Last but not least, flows are created from the global zone, which means that even with root privileges in a Solaris zone an attacker cannot disable or delete a flow. With the flow approach, the outbound traffic of a Solaris zone is controlled from outside the zone. Schema 1 describes the new network setting once the security has been put in place. Here are the instructions to create a Crossbow flow as used in Schema 1 : (GZ)# zoneadm -z zonename halt ...halts the Solaris Zone. (GZ)# flowadm add-flow -l iblink -a transport=TCP,remote_port=22 -p maxbw=0 sshFilter  ...creates a flow on the IB partition "iblink" used by the zone to connect to the Infiniband.  This IB partition can be identified by intersecting the output of the commands 'zonecfg -z zonename info net' and 'dladm show-part'.  The flow is created on port 22, for the TCP traffic with a zero maximum bandwidth.  The name given to the flow is "sshFilter". (GZ)# zoneadm -z zonename boot  ...restarts the Solaris zone now that the flow is in place.Solaris Zones and Solaris Network Virtualization enable SSH access control on Infiniband (and on Ethernet) without the extra cost of a firewall. With this approach, no change is required on the Infiniband switch. All the security enforcements are put in place at the Solaris level, minimizing the impact on the overall infrastructure. The Crossbow flows come in addition to many other security controls available with Oracle Solaris such as IPFilter and Role Based Access Control, and that can be used to tackle security challenges.

  In .NET, the 'Platform Target: Any CPU' compiler option allows a .NET assembly to run as 64bit on a x64 machine, and 32bit on an x86 machine. It is also possible to force an assembly to run as x86 on an x64 machine using the 'Platform Target: x86' compiler option. Is it possible to run an assembly with the 'Any CPU' flag, but determine whether it should be run in the x86 or x64 CLR? Normally this decision is made by the CLR/OS Loader (as is my understanding) based on the bitness of the underlying system. I am trying to write a C# .NET application that can interact with (read: inject code into) other running processes. x64 processes can only inject into other x64 processes, and the same with x86. Ideally, I would like to take advantage of JIT compilation and the Any CPU option to allow a single application to be used to inject into either x64 or x86 processes (on an x64 machine). The idea is that the application would be compiled as Any CPU. On an x64 machine it would run as x64. If the target process is x86, it should relaunch itself, forcing the CLR to run it as x86.   I have the following situation: .net 3.5 WinForm client app accessing SQL Server 2008 Some queries returning relatively big amount of data are used quite often by a form Users are using local SQL Express and restarting their machines at least daily Other users are working remotely over slow network connections The problem is that after a restart, the first time users open this form the queries are extremely slow and take more or less 15s on a fast machine to execute. Afterwards the same queries take only 3s. Of course this comes from the fact that no data is cached and must be loaded from disk first. My question: Would it be possible to force the loading of the required data in advance into SQL Server cache? Note My first idea was to execute the queries in a background worker when the application starts, so that when the user starts the form the queries will already be cached and execute fast directly. I however don't want to load the result of the queries over to the client as some users are working remotely or have otherwise slow networks. So I thought just executing the queries from a stored procedure and putting the results into temporary tables so that nothing would be returned. Turned out that some of the result sets are using dynamic columns so I couldn't create the corresponding temp tables and thus this isn't a solution. Do you happen to have any other idea?

• How to force an HTML JLabel in a JTree to resize when the font changes

  I'm updating a Java Swing application to support the user switching the app's font from normal size to a larger size (so the user can switch between the two sizes at runtime). One problem I'm having is with a JTree that uses HTML for the tree nodes to underline the text in some nodes (the HTML is just embedded in the JLabel of each tree node). One extra thing to know about the nodes is that they're a custom component, adding a JCheckBox in front of each JLabel. The problem is that once the JTree is visible, increasing the font size causes the nodes (containing underlined text) to not resize. The HTML for those nodes seems to prevent the node from becoming wider, so when the font changes, the text becomes truncated. I think my options are to either: 1) use another approach to make the text underlined, since removing the HTML from the JLabel causes it to resize properly when the font size changes, or 2) keep the HTML formatting and somehow force the JTree/JLabels to resize when the font size is updated (possibly by firing a property change event?). The code already calls SwingUtilities.updateComponentTreeUI() on the parent JFrame when the font size gets updated. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! -Mike

  Using Flash CS4, I am making a game that has a dozen or so sounds and a couple of music tracks. To cut down on publish/compile time, I have moved the sounds and music into an (external) SWC, which is located in a "Library Path" for the project. This works, but with a caveat... Until before I externalised the assets, I had been dynamically instantiating the Sound objects of the embedded sound by getting their classes with getDefinitionByName. // something like... var soundSubClass:Class = Class(getDefinitionByName(soundClassName)); var mySound:Sound = new soundSubClass(); But now that they're located in an external SWC, I need to have "concrete" references to the classes in order to load them like this, otherwise they are not included in the published SWF, and there is a runtime error when getDefinitionByName tries to get a class that doesn't exist. So, my question: in Flash Professional CS4, is there any way to force a library's assets to be included, regardless of whether they are statically linked? FlashDevelop has a compiler option "SWC Include Libraries", which is exactly what I want, and is distinct from the "SWC Libraries" option. The description of the "SWC Include Libraries" option is "Links all classes inside a SWC file to the resulting application SWF file, regardless of whether or not they are used." (Also, it's important to me that all the assets are contained within the one compiled SWF. Linking at runtime isn't what I'm after.)

  Hi, I have the following usecase: I have a java project (myProj) which uses a common.jar from a different project(common). I want the javac ant task to work even if the sources of myProj have not changed if the common.jar has changed (as the sources of myProj depend of it and might be invalid now). I have a task which copies the common.jar from a central location to the myProj lib if it has changed and I can use it to set a property whether or not to "force" compilation so that end is taken care of. I'm not sure how (or if) I can tell the javac task to try and compile anyway? I don't want to change myProj's sources (or timestamps) so that the task will start.
