  • ipad simulator error after distribution

    Hi all, I developed a test app and I tried to use into the simulator.. all works fine! After, following the document "iPhone_developer_program_user_guide" I made the distribution version of my app (and xcode built it without problems). After this, I couldn't try the distribution 'cause I don't have iPad, but when I selected the debug type and relaunched to the simulator, the simulator starts, become all black and xcode give this error: I sent the .app and the .mobileprovision to my mate that have the iPad (configured with the udid) and retrieve an unknown error (0xE8008001)... thanks in advance!

  • Modal View Controller with keyboard on landscape iPad changes location when dismissed

    I present a modal view controller on my on my iPad with UIModalPresentationFormSheet presentation style and UIModalTransitionStyleCoverVertical transition style. The Modal View Controller contains a UIWebView with some TextFields on it. When the user taps one of the text fields the keyboard comes up. I have noticed that in landscape mode after the keyboard is shown, if I try to dismiss the modal view controller with animation the view changes its position from the center of the screen to the left side just before the animation starts.. This happens only if the keyboard is up and only in landscape mode on the iPad. If the user closes the modal view without pressing on any text field this doesn't happen. Anyone familiar with this strange behavior?

I'm familiar already with loading EPUB-format titles through iBooks – unfortunately, iBooks doesn't read PDFs so I am looking at using a third-party application. I know many such third-party media viewer applications for the iPad support download from web or email, but that's a hassle. I've heard iTunes 9.1 added support for USB File Transfer, specifically for iPad devices. How does USB File Transfer work in iTunes, for transferring files from my PC to my iPad?     I am not sure why other people have not asked this before. But have you notice that the asp:Calendar shows an extra week at the end? For example if the VisibleMonth is set to 2010-03-01 and FirstDayOfWeek to Sunday: It will show 6 weeks. Feb 28 to March 6 March 7 to March 13 March 14 to March 20 March 21 to March 27 March 28 to April 3 April 4 to April 10 I was wondering why Microsoft shows the last Row which is entirely on April. I tried to search the net for a property but it does not seem to be existing. The only solution that I could think of is to override the Pre_Render and check all individual date if they are still within the week of the VisibleDate. But of course that is an extreme checking since each rendering of the control shows it.

  • Creating Graphs on an iPad/iPhone

    I was wondering if anyone knew of a simple way to implement graphing in an iPhone/iPad application. I've spent quite a bit of time googling and can't seem to find any sort of a solution. Maybe I'm just searching with the wrong terms since a lot of consumers are asking about "graphing" in terms of using their applications, not developing them, the search-space is rather polluted. It seems like a lot of iPad/iPhone applications have embedded graphs... and I can't imagine that every developer has invented their own graphing engine from the ground up. Or, maybe they have... Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Besides the 2 ways by using email or putting the PDF on a website (but it is a trouble to go to page 180 by repeated scrolling), is there an easy way to transfer the .PDF, .mobi, .epub to iPad to read, preferably to Kindle or iBooks on the iPad, so that we can add notes or hightlight or bookmark the pages?   • How do I make a universal iPhone / iPad application that programmatically uses UISplitViewController

    I couldn't find a good answer anywhere to this. I am using a UINavigationController for my iPhone app, with everything is generated programmatically, nothing in Interface Builder. I am trying to port my app to iPad, using a UISplitViewController and my existing UINavigationController, but I am not sure where I should have the logic of my program separating the view controllers for iPhone or iPad. Do I set up my main file to use a different app delegate or do I use the same app delegate and have the user interface conditionally set up within it? Besides this, whenever I try to compile my app on the simulator it does not recognize the UISplitViewController or even the condition in which I check if the class exists. Can please someone put me in the right direction, remembering that I am not using any xibs?

  • Fake "user initiated" <audio> tag on iPad

    I know that Apple's docs say that an mp3 within an <audio tag on iPhone OS can't be played without user intervention (they cite bandwidth concerns, totally reasonable). However, has anyone succeeded in faking a user action to play the audio? Perhaps faking events to off screen native audio controls with JavaScript? I'm using jPlayer right now which works great on desktop Safari, but is silent on my iPad. I'm prototyping a touch interface using WebKit on the iPad, and audio is an integral part of the experience, so yes, I do have a good reason to want to override this convention. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.

  • Restoring a "Canceled" event with Google Calendar API?

    I'm trying to change the status of an event back from "canceled" to "confirmed" using Google Calendar API (I'm using .NET but an answer in any language would help) but I get GDataRequestException error: "You can't modify a cancelled event" If I've used the API to delete an event in a repeating series, for example, is it possible to change the status of the resulting recurrence exception (there's no EXDATE, just a new "canceled" event that is only visible when the feed is requested with start and end date) to "confirmed" (or even delete the resulting exception completely) in order to restore the repeating series to the original state? event.Delete() and event.Update() don't even see the event any longer once it's been .canceled. event.Update() gives the above error.     What is the recommended way to change the first day of the week to Monday (instead of Sunday, as in the screenshot below)? I couldn't find anything related in Clock Preferences, nor in System - Preferences, or System - Administration. This probably has something to do with tweaking locales, so here's (possibly relevant) output from locale: LANG=en_US.utf8 LC_CTYPE="en_US.utf8" LC_NUMERIC="en_US.utf8" LC_TIME="en_US.utf8" ... LC_ALL= NB: I want to keep English as the UI language both in GNOME and on command line. Dates are currently displayed like this (e.g. ls -l): 2010-10-06 15:32, and I also want to keep that as it is.

  • Interface Builder - XCode link broken with iPad-converted xib

    In porting my app to a universal iPhone / iPad app, the xibs I created by using Interface Builder's "Create iPad Version" will not link to the project properly: They don't pick up on classes and images from the project file. IB tells me that "there is no xcode project associated with this document" with a gray light in the status bar. Yet the xib is in the project, was launched by double-clicking in xcode, and both are open. The old xibs work fine though. I don't understand what could be causing this. So, my question is, how do I restore the link?

    After reading many posts, I still haven't got a clue how to solve this problem... The first view of my app is a tableViewController. I override (BOOL) shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation: (UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation and it always returns YES. If I hold my iPad upright under landscape orientation, it rotates right after I launch the app. However, if I put my iPad flat on the table, even though my homepage is in landscape orientation, it launches in protrait orientation. So I guess the problem is, how can I get the orientation of my homepage and launch my app with that orientation?

  • Is the UIDatePicker really the best iPhone UI mechanism for selecting dates?

    Hello! I'm diving into iPhone/iPad development and I'm trying to find an elegant mechanism for allowing the user to select dates. It seems to me that a calendar control would be the best way to go, but I don't see one in anywhere in the SDK. All all I see is this overblown, the-price-is-right-looking DatePicker control. Is this the only control that comes with UIKit for allowing the user to select dates? What about the calendar that the Notes app uses? Also, I should note I'm really trying to avoid using 3rd party code frameworks that have little or no documentation, because I'm new to all this and sufficient documentation is a must at this point. But it was crashing by giving the following message in terminal. I am using 2048x2048 CCSpriteSheets in my code. I used instruments tool there is sudden increase in memory to 32MB before crashing. It is crashing at CCSpriteFrameCache .     I successfully implemented an application that works on ipad as well as on iphone. In that I provided option to user to send the screen shot of the application as mail attachment. Even that is functioning well. But my code is taking screen shot irrespective of orientation. The image i'm getting is always in portrait mode. I want to take the screen shot depending on the orientation of ipad/iphone and send the image as attachment. I'm using following code to take the screen shot.     I often use GWT for web UIs. I have heard of it being used a fair bit in conjunction with Gears for offline solutions (probably nowadays HTML5 "offline storage" is all the rage) and I'd like to experiment with building a GUI in GWT and use it on my iPad. Tips/tutorials on how to deploy it onto the device to act as much as possible like a resident "App"? This is just a curiosity/experiment to fill a week-end...     Hi. We have a live universal app in the AppStore. Our client changed his mind and doesn't want the app to be universal anymore, he wants it to be iPad only. Since the app was submitted some time ago, there are users who use the iPhone version. What happens if we submit an upgrade that is iPad only? Will the review team reject it? And if it goes live, will the iPhone users receive a notification about the update? If yes in what form? Or will the iPhone users just be unable to reinstall the app? Thank you!

  • iPad Orientation Lock Notification?

    Is there a way to receive a notification when the iPad gets locked? When the lock is set on or off, it does send a receivedRotate: notification, but I need a way to be able to distinguish normal rotations from lock "rotations". The problem is I am rotating things in my view when the rotation changes. When the lock is activated, the iPad sends a receivedRotate: with UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait. I've looked in UIDevice for something like isOrientationLocked, but with no success. Thanks for any clues on this.
