• Difference between jruby AOT classes with --java flag and without

  When I compile a ruby file to a java class using jrubyc, I get different output when compiling with just jrubyc and with jrubyc --java (to generate the java file) and just javac. Why? Example: First Method: $ jrubyc --java myscript.rb $ javac -cp .:./jruby-complete.jar myscript.java Second Method: $ jrubyc myscript.rb I'd expect the generated classes to be exactly the same, but they're not. What's jrubyc doing under the covers? Thanks!

• ca-certificates-java fails when trying to install openjdk-6-jre

  I use a VPS with Ubuntu Server 10.10 x64. I want to use Java and run the command sudo apt-get install openjdk-6-jre but it fails because the installation encounted errors while processing ca-certificates-java. I have tried to install the failed package with: sudo apt-get install ca-certificates-java How can I solve this? I have run sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get upgrade but I get the same errors after that. I have also installed Ubuntu Server x64 on a VirtualBox, but the two Ubuntu Server 10.10 has different kernel versions (2.6.35 on VirtualBox and 2.6.18 on my VPS). And on VirtualBox I can install Jetty without any problems. The VPS is a fresh install of Ubuntu Server 10.10 x64, the first command I was running was sudo apt-get install openjdk-6-jre. When I run sudo apt-get install ca-certificates-java I get this message: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... My VPS had 128MB of Memory, I changed to 256MB but got the same problem. Then I changed to 512MB and got the same problem. I found a related post on a forum: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) And I tried: sudo apt-get clean sudo apt-get --reinstall install openjdk-6-jre sudo dpkg --configure -a But I got the same problem, even when I'm using 512MB of Memory. Any suggestions?

  I've just installed the newest java, because firefox blocks the old version. I used the tutorial from http://www.backtrack-linux.org/wiki/index.php/Java_Install Because I had some trouble once, I knew that there are multiple library folders, so I linked into all mozilla plugin folders that there are. /root/.mozilla/plugins /usr/lib/firefox/plugins/ /usr/lib/firefox-addons /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins java -version returns java version "1.7.0_07" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_07-b10) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.3-b01, mixed mode) But when I go to firefox plugins, it's not listed. What do I need to do, so that firefox recognizes java?

  Are there any Java-specific techniques (things which wouldnt apply to C++) for writing low latency code, in Java? I often see Java low latency roles and they ask for experience writing low latency Java- which sometimes seems a little bit of an oxymoron. The only think I could think of is experience with JNI, outsourcing I/O calls to native code. Also possibly using the disruptor pattern, but thats not an actual technology. Are there any Java specific tips for writing low latency code? I am aware there is a Real Time Java Spec, but I have been warned real-time is not the same as low latency....

  The problem:I have got 2 apps. The interact with each other via broadcasting. I have parcelable class in the android library (they send content of class in the library). So after using Proguard I have got ClassNotFondException. I have followed the instructions on the site http://jogamp.org/jogl/www/ and downloaded everything with git to $HOME/jogamp and built everything with ant (although I would have prefered the files installed somewhere under /usr/local). I am trying to run a simple application with JOGL found on the Wikipedia site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java_OpenGL In order to compile the file I had to add: export CLASSPATH.:$HOME/jogamp/jogl/build/jogl/classes in order to compile the code. Here is a method defintion that i'm trying to wrap: void methodA(const uint32_t *data); //c header declaration The issue I'm having is trying to figure out how to give a equivalent pointer from c#. In c# I want it to operate on a: UInt32 data[] //my c# object i want to be able to pass in but how do I give an equivalent pointer in my wrapper? I have tried ref data //my attempt at giving an equivalent pointer to the DLL but that doesnt seem to be working. Using debug statements in the DLL I can see that the values it gets that way are not what I'm attempting to pass in. So my question boils down to have do I properly wrap a c fuction that is using a pointer to reference an array?

  Hi, Recently I found a C library that I want to use in my C++ project. This code is configured with global variables and writes it's output to memory pointed by static pointers. When I execute my project I would like 2 instances of the C program to run: one with configuration A and one with configuration B. I can't afford to run my program twice, so I think there are 2 options: Make a C++ wrapper: The problem here is that the wrapper-class should contain all global/static variables the C library has. Since the functions in the C library use those variables I will have to create very big argument-lists for those functions. Copy-paste the C library: Here I'll have to adapt the name of every function and every variable inside the C library. Which one is the fastest solution? • Upgrading to Java 7u65 breaks my Deployment Rule Set for Oracle applications

  My company uses an older version of an Oracle application that requires Java 6u45. Naturally we want to be secure, so we use a Deployment Rule Set to specify 6u45 for that internal application and let other applications use 7u60. Now that we're ready to upgrade the Java 7 half to 7u67, the Oracle application breaks with "Deployment Rule Set required version 1.6.0_45 not available." Of course it is available, it just can't find it for some reason. As a test, I specified that JavaTester.org should use 6u45 also and it works fine with no issues. But when I try to use the same configuration (7u67 and 6u45) against the Oracle application it fails every time. If I downgrade to 7u60, it works. 7u65 or higher, it breaks. The Oracle application hasn't changed so it must be something different in how 7u65+ is handling Deployment Rule Sets or pathing or something.   Hi all, I am making a 2D game in Java and I want to use a joystick to control the movement of some crosshairs. Right now I have it so the mouse can control those crosshairs. My only criteria for this is that the control for the crosshair must stay in the game window unless a user clicks off into another window. Basically I want my game to capture whatever device is controlling the crosshairs much like a virtual machine captures a mouse. The joystick I am using (Thrustmaster Hotas Cougar) comes with some pretty advanced features, so that may make this easier (or harder). I have tried the solution listed on this page, but I am using a 64bit computer and for some reason it does not like that. I have also tried to use the key emulation feature of my joystick, but with little success. Here is what I have so far, any pointer would be appreciated.
