• Original sender is not correctly identified when spam is forwarded

  I have a forwarding rule with Postfix that forwards all messages to my main email address. When a spam message is sent to one of my emails, it is forwarded but the sender is shown as being the forwarding domain, not the spammer's domain. Real example: mywebsite.com is hosted on Linode. [email protected] sends an email to [email protected] the mail is forwarded to [email protected] my email hosting (anotherwebsite.com) sees it's spam and sends a message to [email protected] and Linode reports a TOS violation. I have modified my postfix settings so I now use RBL, but if a message goes through, it may happen again. How can I prevent this to happen again? Is there some settings to change on Postfix so the original sender is correctly identified? Thanks Stephan EDIT: The steps I did to prevent this to happen again are: Add RBL checking to Postfix Add postgrey to Postfix And finally fix the MX record which was incorrect. I checked with a test email on Spamcop.net and the original sender is correctly identified.

• The laptop screen goes black after 6 seconds. What can I do?

  I was given a Dell Latitude D-610 today that have a strange display problem : when the computer boot, screen goes black after 6 seconds (delay after which I can still see images, provided light is at the right angle). When such a thing happen, I can get an image again by simply closing the laptop and opening it again. So. What can I do to have the screen working again? opening it and finding in the cable mess which one is responsible for the neon to turn off? considering it lost and cannibalize its parts?

• Windows 8.1 won't accept my Media Center Pack Product Key

  I just installed Windows 8.1 Pro as an upgrade from an ISO torrent. I was able to activate my original Windows 8 key successfully. However, I tried to activate my Media Center Pack key that I purchased for Windows 8 and it errors out the first try. When I try to activate it again, it then says "This key won't work. Check it and try again, or try a different key.". Do I have to purchase the key again? Thanks

• Win 2k3 server's network problem.

  I'm running 4 of Win2k3 64bit servers in the same subnet. It's been more than an year that I've running them without a problem. Recently, I kept losing the connection to one of the server. Let's say it's 'server A' which has a problem. Losing the connection means that I can't access to server A from the other servers. I've checked if server A has any internet connection problems or are there any abnomal event logs in the eventvwr - but haven't found any problems. The problem usually resolved if I restart the server again. But as time goes by, it keeps happen again and again. I can't afford to restart the server every time, and I really want to find out the reason. Can anyone help me out? Let me know if you guys need any of more information.

Does that help in anyway? My home network is managed by a dual-band (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz) 802.11n cisco e4200 wi-fi router.

• Cannot boot computer, help please :(

  Ok so here is more descriptions, I REALLY NEED HELP! I installed Ubuntu on a disk (unsure of v. I can't check.. Computer is broke :/ ) I then burned the disk I restarted computer pressed f12 blah blah it came up, I pressed enter for English, I plugged an Ethernet card in for better connection, and then started the installation.... I did the basics, and I entered a host name, and a user name and pass all that, when it came to partition page, I presse enter for no and then it went back to the installation page, I pressed install again, and it brought me back, so I selected yes , it loaded an it asked what software to instal I selected sh ( it was first option and I didn't know which to do ) so after everything finished loading, my disk was ejected the process finish, I run my computer and it opens up in log in page on cmd script I didn't know it, so I ran disk again makin a user and pass to remember.... Going back to login thing I logged in, and all it did was say my username... I didn't know what to do from there, I looked online found nothing but grub stuff, so I went to "Advanced Ubuntu options" and then "(Recovery Mode) and went to update grub... In middle o loading it asked to continue (Y/n) I typed Y and it finished, it went back to the options located in (Recovery Mode) and I closed it, and it loaded... And then showed up in another script screen, saying a paragraph on top, and on left side ( where login: would be located etc. ) it says "Grub" and I don't know what to type, if I turn off computer and turn back on it just goes straight to that again... PLEASE HELP:(

• sshd running but no PID file

  I'm recently started using monit to monitor the status of sshd on my CentOS 5.4 server. This works fine, but every so often monit reports that sshd is no longer running. This isn't true - I am still able to login to the server via ssh, however I note the following: There is no longer any PID file at /var/run/sshd.pid - after a reboot this file exists. Once it is gone, restarting sshd via service sshd restart does not create the PID file. sudo service sshd status reports openssh-daemon is stopped - again, restarting sshd does not change this, but a reboot does. sudo service sshd stop reports failed, presumably because of the missing PID file. Any idea what is going on? Update sudo netstat -lptun gives the following output relating to port 22 tcp 0 0 :::22 :::* LISTEN 20735/sshd Killing the process with this PID as suggested by @Henry and then starting sshd via service results in service sshd status recognising the process by PID again. Would still like to understand this better. RPM verify suggested by a couple of answerers shows this: sudo rpm -vV openssh openssh-server openssh-clients | grep 'S\.5' S.5....T c /etc/pam.d/sshd S.5....T c /etc/ssh/sshd_config /etc/pam.d/sshd has the following contents: #%PAM-1.0 auth include system-auth account required pam_nologin.so account include system-auth password include system-auth session optional pam_keyinit.so force revoke session include system-auth #session required pam_loginuid.so Should that last line be commented out? • Installing Plone on Centos fails: Unable to find libssl or openssl/ssl.h.

  My dedicated Server has CentOS 5.5. I tried to install Plone, so I basically did: wget launchpad.net/plone/4.0/4.0.2/+download/Plone-4.0.2-UnifiedInstaller.tgz tar xzf Plone-4.0.2-UnifiedInstaller.tgz cd Plone-4.0.2-UnifiedInstaller ./install.sh zeo I ran into the following error: Unable to find libssl or openssl/ssl.h. If you wish to build without SSL support, run install.sh again with --without-ssl flag. Otherwise, install your platform's openssl-dev libraries and headers and try again. After this error I successfully installed openssl: yum install openssl And i tried to install Plone again. But I keep getting the error: "Unable to find libssl or openssl/ssl.h". Anybody an idea what I'missing?

• LibreOffice hangs everytime I click into it

  I've searched askubuntu for a solution but couldn't find anything helpful for me. I installed the latest version of ubuntu (13.10; 64-bit) yesterday (so I'm relatively new and unexperienced about it) and some programs as well. Today I wanted to try the LibreOffice package which comes with ubuntu by default. So I first started LO Impress, it showed me the default slide where it says something like "Add your title/text here" (I don't know exactly, I'm using my system in German). As soon as i clicked on this text, my entire system didn't react, I couldn't even click the stuff in the upper right corner (where the date, shutdown functions etc. are), nor the items on the launcher bar on the left. After 10 seconds or so, everything seemed to work properly again. But when I clicked into the LO Impress again, the same procedure as described happened again (cmpletely stuck for about 10 sec). Anybody got a solution for this? If you need more information, just tell me. Thanks in advance!

• How can I find unused/unapplied CSS rules in a stylesheet?

  Hello, I've got a huge CSS file and an HTML file. I'd like to find out which rules are not used while displaying a HTML file. Are there tools for this? The CSS file has evolved over few years and from what I know no one has ever removed anything from it--people just wrote new overriding rules again and again. EDIT: It was suggested to use Dust-Me Selectors or Chrome's Web Page Performance tool. But they both work on level of selectors, and not individual rules. I've got lots of cases where a rule inside a selector is always overridden--and this is what I mostly want to get rid of. For example: body { color: white; padding: 10em; } h1 { color: black; } p { color: black; } ... ul { color: black; } All the text in my HTML is inside some wrapper element, so it is never white. body's padding always works, so of course the whole body selector cannot be removed. And I'd like to get rid of such useless rules too. EDIT: And another case of useless rule: when it duplicates existing one without changing anything: a { margin-left: 5px; color: blue; } a:hover { margin-left: 5px; color: red; } I'd happily get rid of the second margin-left... again it seems to me that those tools does not find such things. • Is there an audio recording application/tool that has Tivo-like functionality?

  I do a lot of live speech recording that requires me to quickly jump back and then transcribe a particular piece of the audio, then go back to recording again, while still maintaining the full audio file. So Far I've done this by splitting the audio and running one line to a recorder (for the whole audio), and one to my computer. Then I use something like Audacity to record, and then stop/go back whenever I hear something worth transcribing. This requires me to stop the recording, then start it up again and I end up missing chunks of the speech I'm listening to. Is there a tool that would let me rewind, then listen again and continue listening at a buffered distance from the audio recording, the way Tivo does with television shows?

• Server 2012 R2 DNS Conditional forwarding not working reliably, possible caching issue?

  I have a bit of a home lab setup with a domain controller that is acting as the DNS server for my network. For everything, it's working fine and forwards external DNS requests to my ISP. The household recently wanted to get Netflix going and it seemed a DNS option was better than a VPN to get around the region locking, so I signed up for unblock-us.com Since I have a Windows DNS server I thought I'd be clever and make use of conditional forwarders and added the Netflix domain to the list. Initially this worked well and all devices on the network could now access Netflix, however after about an hour going to the Netflix site would result in a page cannot be found. Doing an nslookup of Netflix.com from my PC resulted in it not returning any IP addresses. As a test, I deleted the Netflix domain from the DNS servers cache and things started working again - devices could get to the site again however the same thing happens again after around half an hour to an hour. Have I missed something here that's causing it to stop working?

• Restoring Box Sync (box.com) using physical media after OS reinstall

  I have my Box Folder on a different drive ( D: ) than my Operating System Drive ( C: ) I follow these instructions to set the local folder on the second drive. https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/200852947-How-Can-I-Change-the-Default-Folder-Location-for-Box-Sync- I had to format and reinstall Windows 7, leaving the other drive (D: ) untouched. now i reinstalled Box Sync, and directed it to the same location where i already have all my files. However, Box Sync renamed the folder to (Box ([email protected]) ) as a bckup, and is downloading everything again. As i have like 30Gb of files, and it takes many hour to download them, i just want to use the files that i already have in my local disk. i tried copying all files again to the new local Box Folder, but files started to get duplicated. Is there any way to avoid downloading everything again each time i reinstall my OS ? Thanks

• IP stops working from time to time

  Hi, have a problem that I can't seem to find the reason for. We are running a small network with windows clients(XP/Win7) and windows servers(2008 sp2/2008r2). The domaincontroller is working as DC, DNS, DHCP, VPN. We have a Level1 FBR4000 between internet and our internal network. The problem is that from time to time specific IP-adresses stops working, the only way I have gotten the devices to work again is to exclude the specific IP from the DHCP address pool and getting a new IP, then everything works again. It seems as the specific IP is beeing banned/blocked somewhere but I just can't figure out where. Anyone got an idea as to where I should start to look? I could also point out that I just reinstalled all servers due to a officemove and was hoping to get away from this problem but it just showed up again. This last time it was my iPhone that got stuck through the Wi-Fi...

• Non use of persisted data – Part deux

  In my last blog I showed how persisted data may not be used if you have used the base data on an include on an index. That wasn't the only problem ive had that showed the same symptom.  Using the same code as before,  I was executing similar to the below : select BillToAddressID,SOD.SalesOrderDetailID,SOH.CleanedGuid from sales.salesorderheader SOH join Sales.SalesOrderDetail SOD on SOH.SalesOrderID = SOD.SalesOrderID But,  due to a distribution error in statistics i found it necessary to use a table hint.  In this case, I wanted to force a loop join select BillToAddressID,SOD.SalesOrderDetailID,SOH.CleanedGuid from sales.salesorderheader SOH inner loop join Sales.SalesOrderDetail SOD on SOH.SalesOrderID = SOD.SalesOrderID   But, being the diligent  TSQL developer that I am ,looking at the execution plan I noticed that the ‘compute scalar’ operator was again calling the function.  Again,  profiler is a more graphic way to view this…..   All very odd,  just because ive forced a join , that has NOTHING, to do with my persisted data then something is causing the data to be re-evaluated. Not sure if there is any easy fix you can do to the TSQL here, but again its a lesson learned (or rather reinforced) examine the execution plan of every query you write to ensure that it is operating as you thought it would.

I then configured some filters, and it worked like a charm for some minutes. Then after something like 10 minutes, my website no longer responded to the requests. When I was requesting for my website, it said "Waiting for www.blablabla.com" and I never got the page back from the server. I checked the processes running on my Debian box with top -d 0.5, and nothing eats up the CPU. To make my website responding to requests again, I must do a /etc/init.d/apache2 restart. And then it works again with mod_modspeed applying it's filters for a couple of minutes, and no more response again. How can I diagnose this issue? Is there some other configurations in the mod_pagespeed.conf file that I must set?

• OS2/Warp - Remotely Stop and Restart a Program

  Our current phone system runs off of a legacy OS2/Warp box. Periodically we have to log into the machine and restart OS2RSD.exe and then start it again and the phone system starts working again. The problem is we have to physically get in front of the box and use the GUI to stop and restart the process. Is it possibly to remotely run a script to kill OS2RSD.exe if its running and then start it again? I have been unable to figure this out on my own. The OS is OS2/Warp Version 3 if that helps.

• Wordpress blog penalized by Google search - what's wrong?

  I have a blog (http://blog.brodzinski.com), which is wordpress.org blog with pretty popular Thesis theme with almost no other customizations. Some time ago it was penalized by Google search - it simply stopped appearing in search results even for search terms it used to be top result, like my name - Pawel Brodzinski - which isn't anything close to popular search term. To be exact the site has been penalized on Nov 18. It started popping up in search result on Dec 23 but only for a few days. Since Dec 27 it is out again. I know Google guidelines and I'm not aware to break any of them. I submitted reconsideration request after I noticed penalty. It was proceeded and there was no change whatsoever (no surprise as it seems the site was penalized again). I checked diagnostics in webmaster tools and neither any malware was detected nor any strange search terms popped up. I read related threads on Google webmasters forum but found none of solutions working for me. I posted a thread on Google webmasters forum (http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Webmasters/thread?tid=546339f49d4a03bc&hl=en) and the only answer I got was to check for duplicate content. Well, there is some duplicate content published on the web but it is true for vast majority of blogs and it doesn't seem to be a reason for a penalty. Also before Dec 27 I was able to remove duplicate content from a couple of sites which were republishing my feed but this doesn't change the situation - the site was penalized again. The problem is I have no idea what can be wrong with the website or how to find it out. To make the problem worse I'm no webmaster, I just run a wordpress blog, which supposed to be easy.

  I did upgrade virtualbox from 4.1 to 4.2 wheneverver I want to load my win xp vdi, it gives me the following error: "Kernel driver not installed (rc=-1908) The VirtualBox Linux kernel driver (vboxdrv) is either not loaded or there is a permission problem with /dev/vboxdrv. Please reinstall the kernel module by executing '/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup' as root. If it is available in your distribution, you should install the DKMS package first. This package keeps track of Linux kernel changes and recompiles the vboxdrv kernel module if necessary." I ran the suggested step to reinstall the kernel module, and the log file files is as follow: Makefile:181: * Error: unable to find the sources of your current Linux kernel. Specify KERN_DIR= and run Make again. Stop. Makefile:181: * Error: unable to find the sources of your current Linux kernel. Specify KERN_DIR= and run Make again. Stop. • Cutting out smaller rectangles from a larger rectangle

  The world is initially a rectangle. The player can move on the world border and then "cut" the world via orthogonal paths (not oblique). When the player reaches the border again I have a list of path segments they just made. I'm trying to calculate and compare the two areas created by the path cut and select the smaller one to remove it from world. After the first iteration, the world is no longer a rectangle and player must move on border of this new shape. How can I do this? Is it possible to have a non rectangular path? How can I move the player character only on path? EDIT Here you see an example of what I'm trying to achieve: Initial screen layout. Character moves inside the world and than reaches the border again. Segment of the border present in the smaller area is deleted and last path becomes part of the world border. Character moves again inside the world. Segments of border present in the smaller area are deleted etc.
