• Looping the layout that was set up in Interface Builder

  I just need for someone to point me in the right direction of how I should be doing things. I wanted to make an iOS news like app that would have interface resembling Windows Phone. Large and small image tiles that represent one news item each. Now I was thinking to create some basic layout in storyboard, that would consist out of, for example, a title, and a 3 different sized tiles/images (the gray part on the attached image). Now, I would be getting the data as a JSON array that has holds different news categories so I was wondering if somehow the set up layout could be reused in a for loop since the layout will only repeat itself (the red part on the attached image) and oly the data would be different. Can this be done, should I even try doing something like this, or should I try to create an entire layout programmatically? I wouldn't mind doing it programatically, it's just that I don't have much experience in creating layouts that way, and wanted to make sure that I don't do something that I might regret later. • List all foreign key constraints that refer to a particular column in a specific table

  I would like to see a list of all the tables and columns that refer (either directly or indirectly) a specific column in the 'main' table via a foreign key constraint that has the ON DELETE=CASCADE setting missing. The tricky part is that there would be an indirect relationships buried across up to 5 levels deep. (example: ... great-grandchild- FK3 = grandchild = FK2 = child = FK1 = main table). We need to dig up the leaf tables-columns, not just the very 1st level. The 'good' part about this is that execution speed isn't of concern, it'll be run on a backup copy of the production db to fix any relational issues for the future. I did SELECT * FROM sys.foreign_keys but that gives me the name of the constraint - not the names of the child-parent tables and the columns in the relationship (the juicy bits).   Hello all, I have Windows 7 with the latest XAMPP installation. I configured BASE to work, for the most part. My problem is that in BASE, when I click on the graph alerts button, I get this error: Error loading the Graphing library: Check your Pear::Image_Graph installation! * Image_Graph can be found here:at http://pear.veggerby.dk/. • Using multiple Qt (SQL) Models

  I have a near real-time application that I am using Qt and an SQLite database to run. I am curious if it is safe to have two separate models access a database at once. I know 2 separate views can access a model just fine, but I can't find any document addressing this. I also realize that SQLite is thread safe for reading, so I don't see a real issue to doing this from the SQLite part of things... Basically I want to use a QSqlTableModel to do the real-time read and write in the background and at the same time use a QSqlQueryModel to give the user desired data. Since I may be doing lots of filtering in the background using the table model I can't use it as the main view as well. I have gotten this to work for the most part, but am not sure if this is the best way to do this. If the models act like multiple SQL queries I don't believe this should be an issue, but I would like to know from someone I bit more knowledgeable about this stuff since this is pretty new to me. • User to be validated against nested security groups in Windows.

  Hi, This is my first post here and after much looking around I have come here with my question. Will really appreciate a fast response. I am faced with a problem to validate user credentials of the currently logged on user against a group in Windows. The user membership to a group can be through other groups also ie nested membership. Eg. User U is a part of group G1. Group G1 is a part of another group G2. The requirement is that when the user is validated against group G2, the validations should succeed. The user can be a local or AD user but the group will always be a local group ( or domain local group if created directly on a DC). I have tried using WindowsPrincipal.IsInRole() method, but it seems to be checking only for direct membership to a group. I also tried UserPrincipal.GetAuthorizationGroups() for the current user, but it also doesnt seem to be doing recursive search. Although still accomplishing with the principal argument of a complex number and with the signed property of floating point's 0, this changes is a problem when one is defining functions of complex numbers. For example, if one is defining sqrt of a complex number by the de Moivre formula, this will change the sign of the imaginary part of the result to a wrong value. How to deal with this effect?

  I have a problem with querying MongoDB. In my code I have a method Get which has as a parametar a Dictionary. It should go through the database and query it, comparing string and then object. So, i always get a problem with this object part, QueryDocument won't take in an object type because it isn't an BsonValue. I have tried to cast it but it won't work. Do you have any suggestions ?   I am confused about the memory allocation in C++ in terms of the memory areas such as Const data area, Stack, Heap, Freestore, Heap and Global/Static area. I would like to understand the memory allocation pattern in the following snippet. Can anyone help me to understand this. • Apache downloads php files instead of running their source

  I have just recently upgraded PHP 5.3 to 5.4 on my Debian Squeeze server. Now, instead of executing PHP files, Apache just downloads them, which is really bad. When I try to follow these steps, I get "broken packages" upon installing the libapache2-mod-php5 package. Also the answer tells me to add something to my httpd.conf, but it's empty. • Grab two parts of a single, short string

  I'm looking to fill a python dict with TAG:definition pairs, and I'm using RegExr http://gskinner.com/RegExr/ to write the regex My first step is to parse a line, from http://www.id3.org/id3v2.3.0, or http://pastebin.com/VJEBGauL and pull out the ID3 tag and the associated definition. For example the first line: 4.20 AENC [#sec4.20 Audio encryption] would look like this myDict = {'AENC' : 'Audio encryption'} To grab the tag name, I've got it looking for at least 3 spaces, then 4 characters, then 4 spaces: {3}[a-zA-Z0-9]{4} {4} That part is easy enough. The second part, the definition, is not working out for me. So far, I've got (?<=(\[#.+?)) A Which should find, but not include the [# as well as an indeterminded set of characters until it finds: _A, but it's failing. If I remove .+? and replace _A with s it works out alright. What is going wrong? *The underscores represent spaces, which don't show up on SO. How do I grab the definition, ie,(Audio encryption) of the ID3v2 tag from the line, using RegEx?

• getting BR-separated text via DOM in JS/JQuery?

  Hi all, I am writing a greasemonkey script that is parsing a page with the following general structure: <table> <tr><td><center> <b><a href="show.php?who=IDNumber">(Account Name)</a></b> (#IDNumber) <br> (Rank) <br> (Title) <p> <b>Statistics:</b> <br> <table> <tr><td>blah blah etc. </td></tr></table></center></table> I'm specifically trying to grab the (Title) part out of that. As you can see, however, it's set off only by a <BR> tag, has no ID of its own, is just part of the text of a <CENTER> tag, and that tag has a whole raft of other text associated with it. Right now what I'm doing to get that is taking the innerHTML of the Center tag and using a regex on it to match for /<br>([A-Za-z ]*)<p><b>Statistics/. That is working okay for me, but it feels like there's gotta be a better way to pick that particular text out of there. ... So, is there a better way? Or should I complain to the site programmer that he needs to make that text more accessible? :-)

• MySQLDB query not returning all rows

  I am trying to do a simple fetch using MySQLDB in Python. I have 2 tables(Accounts & Products). I have to look up Accounts table, get acc_id from it & query the Products table using it. The Products tables has more than 10 rows. But when I run this code it randomly returns between 0 & 6 rows each time I run it. Here's the code snippet: # Set up connection con = mdb.connect('db.xxxxx.com', 'user', 'password', 'mydb') # Create cursor cur = con.cursor() # Execute query cur.execute("SELECT acc_id FROM Accounts WHERE ext_acc = '%s'" % account_num ) # account_num is alpha-numberic and is got from preceding part of the program # A tuple is returned, so get the 0th item from it acc_id = cur.fetchone()[0] print "account_id = ", acc_id # Close the cursor - I was not sure if I can reuse it cur.close() # Reopen the cursor cur = con.cursor() # Second query cur.execute("SELECT * FROM Products WHERE account_id = %d" % acc_id) keys = cur.fetchall() print cur.rowcount # This prints incorrect row count for key in keys: # Does not print all rows. Tried to directly print keys instead of iterating - same result :( print key # Closing the cursor & connection cur.close() con.close() The weird part is, I tried to step through the code using a debugger(PyDev on Eclipse) and it correctly gets all rows(both the value stored in the variable 'keys' as well as console output are correct). I am sure my DB has correct data since I ran the same SQL on MySQL console & got the correct result. Just to be sure I was not improperly closing the connection, I tried using with con instead of manually closing the connection and it's the same result. I did RTFM but I couldn't find much in it to help me with this issue. Where am I going wrong? Thank you. EDIT: I noticed another weird thing now. In the line cur.execute("SELECT * FROM Products WHERE account_id = %d" % acc_id), I hard-coded the acc_id value, i.e made it cur.execute("SELECT * FROM Products WHERE account_id = %d" % 322) and it returns all rows

• Code management in different projects with different svn repositories

  First of all I want to tell you what kind of system I have and I want to build on. 1- A Solution (has) a- Shared Class Library project (which is for lots of different solutions) b- Another Class Library project (which is only for this solution) c- Web Application project (which main part of this solution) d- Shared Web Service project (which also serves for different solutions) 2- B Solution (has) a- Shared Class Library project (which is for lots of different solutions) c- Windows Form Application project (which is main part of this solution) d- Web Service project (which also serves for different solutions) and other projects like that.... I am using xp-dev.com as our svn repository server. And I opened different projects for these items (Shared Class Library, Web Service project, Windows Form Application project, Web Application project, Another Class Library project) . I want to do the versioning of all these projects of course. My first question is, should I put each project(one solution) to one svn repository to get their revision number later on? Or should I put each of them to different svn repository and keep( write down) their correct version number that is used to publish/deploy every solution? If I use one svn for each project(Shared Class Lib, Web App, Shared Web Service....) how can I relate the right svn address and version on VS.2010 within the real solution? So, how do you manage your repositories and projects?

• How to explain to client that you can't give them some of the source

  We have a number of AS/Flex components that we've built over time and improved upon. They've been turned into components so they can be reused in different projects and save us time. So you can think of them as part of an in-house framework of sorts. We're now realizing that it doesn't make sense to release the source code for these components to the various clients as part of the project, because technically this code isn't really owned by the clients. So my question When a client comes to you, how do you explain to them that you can't give them the full source code for those components. The client doesn't understand the difference, he just expects you to give them all the code for the site that he paid you to do. He doesn't understand that this code has taken you a lot longer to write than what he's paying for his site. But since he doesn't understand, he would get turned off and thinks you're ripping him off or something. How do you handle this situation? What do you tell clients upfront? Do you advertise it on your site from the very beginning? How do you handle their objections so they still hire you? As a side question, how often do you give AS and Flex source code to your clients? In the case when the code doesn't have any in-house components that you reuse in several projects, and in the case when it does have in-house components.

• When to use CTEs to encapsulate sub-results, and when to let the RDBMS worry about massive joins.

  This is a SQL theory question. I can provide an example, but I don't think it's needed to make my point. Anyone experienced with SQL will immediately know what I'm talking about. Usually we use joins to minimize the number of records due to matching the left and right rows. However, under certain conditions, joining tables cause a multiplication of results where the result is all permutations of the left and right records. I have a database which has 3 or 4 such joins. This turns what would be a few records into a multitude. My concern is that the tables will be large in production, so the number of these joined rows will be immense. Further, heavy math is performed on each row, and the idea of performing math on duplicate rows is enough to make anyone shudder. I have two questions. The first is, is this something I should care about, or will SQL Server intelligently realize these rows are all duplicates and optimize all processing accordingly? The second is, is there any advantage to grouping each part of the query so as to get only the distinct values going into the next part of the query, using something like: WITH t1 AS ( SELECT DISTINCT... [or GROUP BY] ), t2 AS ( SELECT DISTINCT... ), t3 AS ( SELECT DISTINCT... ) SELECT... I have often seen the use of DISTINCT applied to subqueries. There is obviously a reason for doing this. However, I'm talking about something a little different and perhaps more subtle and tricky.

• Matched or unmatched drives for RAID arrays?

  Looking around there is conflciting information on this, with some strongly suggesting one or the other. From my understanding the issue with matched drives is that the wear on both drives is more or less the same, so the potential for the second drive failing with or very soon after the first is pretty high. People also claim matched drives give substianatally higher performance however assuming the unmatched drives are more or less the same (eg 2, 1 TB STATA II 7200rpm drives with 32MB cache), would the minor differences between say a Seagate and a Western Digital one (say one has a 128MB/s read rate, and the other a 150MB/s read rate, as well as I guess various other minor differences) actually cause any notable performance loss, ie potentialy worse than two matched 128MB/s drives, or does RAID not really care and give you essentially an optimal solution (eg upto 278MB/s total read speed for RAID 0 and 1) and similar for other RAID with more "unmatched" drives (5 and 1+0 come to mind as possibilities)? Also I couldnt find much info on how this is different on different RAID setups, eg RAID 0 or RAID 1, software or hardware RAID, etc. I'm assuming such things have an effect, and thats it's not all the same for RAID in general?

  I was a classic asp developer in 2000. After a year of full-time employment, I left the field. I found a part-time position as an asp developer again in 2005 and taught myself vb.net. In 2007, I got the current full-time job as an Asp.net web developer. I taught myself C#, LING t0 SQL, Web Services, AJAX, and creating all kinds of reports with reporting services. One and half years ago, I sent myself to part-time graduate program in Database and Web Systems. I'll have two semesters to go and so far my GPA is 4.0/4.0. My job responsibility is to collect business requirements from other departments, design the database, write stored procedures, create aspx pages, and create reports. I love what I do and want to advance my career to the next level. What I enjoy most is to design the relational database. I would want to become an .Net Architect eventually. I got an interview. They were looking for asp.net web developer. But I was surprised and disappointed that position would only create aspx pages. I would not even have opportunity to write stored procedures, let alone design the database (those would be provided by another group). Furthermore, they asked me some detailed questions about web forms, some of which I did not know the answers. they might be disappointed as well. I am eager to learn and can apply what I learn to real projects right away. I believe no matter what specific skills I am lacking for a new position, I can catch up quickly. I am looking for $70k range job. The object in my resume is Experience C# Web Application Developer. Due to the experience from last interview, I wonder if the object is really what I want. • How can I define an irregular area of the screen and find the closest point to the mouse in that area?

  I'm looking for a method to define an area of the screen that the mouse cannot leave. I have been directed by rob mayoff, the answerer of this question, that I can use a Quartz Event Tap to detect mouse events. This puts me part of the way to the solution to THIS question. I need to define an irregular area of the screen, not just a rectangle, that the mouse cannot leave. I have been researching this and the only idea I can come up with is using a bitmap to define the irregular area, as it will be very oddly shaped. However, I am open to solutions other than using a bitmap. Since this must be done on a Mac, I've determined that I will have to use objective C / Cocoa . I need to know how to define the area and, equally importantly, how to find the closest point in the area to the mouse (so that I can move the mouse to it if the mouse tries to move outside of the area). This is similar to what the restricted area will look like: [edit:] Okay, I've come up with part of the answer to this. If I can do a basic (light-weight) point collision detection on the image mask, I can use a simple algorithm to detect the closest point to the mouse on the black area of the image. I could do this by calculating distance between a pre-defined point (P) inside the black area of the image and the target mouse position (T), taking the midpoint (M), then checking if the midpoint is inside or outside of the shape (black or white, respectively). If M is inside the shape, then move the P to M, otherwise move T to the M, continuously recalculate this until the distance between T and P is 1 pixel or less, then move the mouse to the final calculated position. All of that being said, I still need some way to test the position of the mouse against that same position on the bitmap (assume the bitmap is the same resolution as the monitor), and check if that point is black or white. All of this needs to be done in the background, without this application actually having focus, or the bitmap being visible... is this possible?

AMD Phenom II x4 955 processor 3.2ghz 20gb ddr3 ram 4Gb Nvidia Geforce GTX 770 850w Corsair tx850w psu Gigabyte ud3 mobo Windows 7 professional I recently uprgraded my vid card to gtx770 and upgraded my psu to the 850w thats in it now. i did a reformat with the installation of the new gpu and psu and started fresh and only have a couple programs installed (diablo3, nvidia control panel, wow, and steam). all drivers are up to date and everything is hooked up correctly. the problem is it will randomly shut down. no blue screen. just turns itself straight off and reboots after a couple seconds. occasionally i will have to unplug the power cable from the psu for a few minutes then reconnect and it will start up. it seems pretty random. sometimes it does it when my pc is just sitting there on the home screen. and sometimes it does it during games. and sometimes it doesnt do it for days at a time. i noticed the psu felt hot so i put an extra fan blowing straight onto both the psu and gpu and neither feel overly hot after it shuts down now. could it just be that it is a psu problem. the psu was taken from another machine but wasnt having this problem in that machine. i have seen a few articles online about gtx770 doing the same thing. but i havent found any answers or solutions. any help will be appreciated. im sure the 850w is enough to power my machine, im just stumped and ran out of ideas to fix it. i have even returned the video card for another thinking it might have been an issue with that particular card, but still gettin the same problem.

• rotating UITableViewController manually

  Hi there, I am trying to do something I am not really sure is possible :) I have application that is in portrait mode and doesn't react to device rotation. Almost all parts of app work best in portrait so I disabled autorotation. But one part should be viewed in landscape. I just drawed my view rotated by 90 degrees and with this forced user to rotate device (again no autorotation). Everything was ok until I added UITableViewController that is invoked from this (and only from this) rotated view. Table view is of course in portrait mode, so user has to rotate device again, which is not really user friendly experience. My problem is, how to manually rotate table view so it is in landscape mode without using autorotation feature. I was able to rotate it using transform, but I can't position it properly. Is this right way of doing this or did I missed something that would make this trivial task? I don't want to use autorotation because both part are pretty separated from each other and each of them would be almost useless in other's mode

• moving from WinXP to WinServer in VmWare

  I have a Vmware machine for.Net application testing. Current setup: Host OS: win7 Guest OS: Right now the guest OS is Win Xp Pro x64, which runs great with just 1 gigabyte of RAM and 10 gigs of disk space. * This part can be skipped * As I said, there was a program that I needed to test, but unfortunately, by default, Vmware installs crappy display drivers(called SVGA II) on XP machines and there is NO way to upgrade them! This resulted in my program's error (the program used SlimDX (DirectX wrapper) to do some stuff..). Eventually I found out that display drivers most certainly is the problem. For example, Windows 7 virtual machine uses SVGA 3D drivers and I have NO problems running my SlimDX-based program. Now, regarding Windows Server 2008! Apparently, WDDM driver is supported by WS2008, which means that I'll be able to install SVGA 3D and to test my DX apps. * end of skip * The questions are: Will WS2008 be as smooth with just 1 gig of RAM just like Win XP was? Will 10 gigs of HDD be enough? Or the server requires more? Will I be able to install .Net ver. 4 on WS2008? Are there any limitations that I need to be aware of as a .Net programmer? EDIT: I was hoping that WS2008 is XP-based, not Vista-vased/W7-based. In comparison, W7 virtual machine with 2 gigs of RAM and 2 proc cores nearly kills my Host OS. Whereas, WinXp runs extremely fast even with 1 core and 1 gig of RAM. That's the main reason why I want to try WS2008..

• Flash video plays well, but time and time-remaining are out of sync.

  Hey guys, Could be a known issue, an issue with my code or an oversight on my part. I have created a video player in flash. I have got it playing progressive and streaming over rtmp/rtmpt so that is all fine. My only issue is that when the video's are playing, the time-codes for time played and time remaining are not synced. So, if my video is 20 secs long and 5 have been played, time played will be 5secs, time remaining will be 16secs until it updates about half a second later. So even though they are both being set with the same line of code, there are not changing at the same time. The time played changes, then a split second later the time remaining changes. Anyone got any idea what this could be. Maybe a miscalculation on my part. Maybe I need to round up or down the remaining time. How can I sync the two times. I understand this is probably an tough question to answer, I have done my best to explain it. Thanks in advance.

The problem is in IE8, I cannot delete checked rows from the table; whereas in other browsers such as FireFox3.6, Opera10, Safari4 and Chrome4, this action is all right. • Some ASP.NET and Access

  Good Day all, I have a big problem but i think its minor for you guys in Stackoverflow. I am creating a web application that has two main parts. The Payment part and Requisition part. It backbone is using access and the script is in ASP.NET. I managed to sort out most of the application. But I have been having a few problems. Now for my problems: The AddRequisition.aspx/AddPayment.aspx: both have a reference number. I wanted it to be unique number(but not a primary key). I wanted it to be in the following format: DDMMYY(TransactionNo)(UserID) eg: 24061101PK. I have tried and tried but have not been able to sort it out. The AmountINWords gets the value from Amount. It converts the Amount into words. Thats not all. It picks what currncy was picked in the CurrencyPaidIn and pust the respective currency inside. eg. 123.45 USD becomes One Hundred and twenty three dollars and forty five cents. I tried using queries but as you will see that went all wrong. Those are the only two things that I cant seem to get my head around. I do know that there are some things that are not conventional ASP.NET and some text boxes are not the right size. I was thinking of sorting out those after I get those two fixed because they are simple to do. I really need some help with this application please. If someone can just have a look at the code and add a few things here and there. Thanks in advance. Faz
