    Consider the following simple immutable struct: struct Stash { public int X { get; private set; } public Stash(int _x) { X = _x; } } This is not working, because the compiler wants me to initialize the "backing field" before I can access the property. How can I solve this?

    I'm newly using CODE::BLOCKS+mingw compiler If I don't type return 0 at the end of program,I can see that main() is returning some integer,I learnt that main() returning 0 infers program executes successfully.I don't find any flaw in my code, why is it returning some integer? secondly any function returns its value to its function call, to where does main() return its value?

    Hi, I have a use of the CRTP that doesn't compile with g++ 4.2.1, perhaps because the derived class is itself a template? Does anyone know why this doesn't work or, better yet, how to make it work? Sample code and the compiler error are below. I dont know how to acces my method of my class ProjectNode, that is returned from ExplorerManager mgr like this: mgr.getRootContext().setSomething() getRootContext() returns Node object, but I put class ProjectNode (extends AbstractNode, abstractNode extends Node)into rootContext. The compiler does not want to eat that line of code. But it must!

  • Where does code within Script tags go in the resulting AS class?

    I was wondering what happens to the code contained in an <mx:Script> tag. If I define a function tehre, it just becomes a member function of the generated class. But I noticed that it seems OK for the compiler if I just write some (static) method calls there (specifically, I call Font.registerFont()). I feel kind of guilty for doing this, because I have no idea what's really happening and when the code gets executed.

I mean the compiler cant catch errors like this... and its just a mess! is there a wrapper or some kind of class i can add that does something as simple as making a function that adds a table and asks for args?   • c++: see compiled object layout

    Hi, is there a way - much like the way i can see the result of preprocessing when using 'gcc -E' - to see what my objects look like once the compiler compiled them into object files? I am not too good in reading assembler, so an advice to get the results as text would be nice .. or at least a little 'howto read the constructor intructions' or 'howto find the constructor' ... I am talking about gcc/g++, but a solution including msvc would be fine. Thanks!

  • Static member class - declare class private and class member package-private?

    Consider you have the following class public class OuterClass { ... private static class InnerClass { int foo; int bar; } } I think I've read somewhere (but not the official Java Tutorial) that if I would declare the static member classes attributes private, the compiler had to generate some sort of accessor methods so that the outer class can actually access the static member class's (which is effectively a package-private top level class) attributes. Any ideas on that?

    In the spirit of undefined behavior associated with sequence points such as “x = ++x” is it really undefined?, how does one get the compiler to complain about such code? Specifically, I am using Visual Studio 2010 and Xcode 4.3.1, the latter for an OSX app, and neither warned me about this. I even cranked up the warnings on VS2010 to "all", and it happily compiled this. (For the record, VS2010's version added 1 to the variable where Xcode's version kept the variable unchanged.)

    After testing on msvc8, I found: Parse GetCommandLine() to argc and argv Standard C Library initialization C++ Constructor of global variables These three things are called before entering main(). My questions are: Will this execution order be different when I porting my program to different compiler (gcc or armcc), or different platform? What stuff does Standard C Library initialization do? So far I know setlocale() is a must. Is it safe to call standard C functions inside C++ constructor of global variables?
