  • Allowing developer-specific settings in VS2008 projects

    Is it possible to combine the following properties, and if so, how? Store in our version control system some Visual Studio 2008 native C++ project files for the developers in our team that use this IDE. Allow some of those developers to tweak their projects (e.g. using debug version of third-party libraries instead of the usual ones). Make sure these modifications are done in files that are not versioned. In other words, I would like to allow developers to tweak some settings in their projects without risking that these changes are committed. An 'optional VSPROP' file approach seems doomed to fail, as VS2008 refuses to load projects that refer to non-existent VSPROP files... Any other suggestion? Is this possible with VS2010?

In this example I'd like to get a list of directories call 'modules' that do NOT have a subdirectory called module. modules/package1/modules/spackage1 modules/package1/modules/spackage2 modules/package1/modules/spackage3/modules modules/package1/modules/spackage3/modules/spackage1 modules/package2/modules/ The list I desire would contain modules/package1/modules/spackage3/modules/ modules/package2/modules/ All the directories named module that do not have a subdirectory called module I started with trying something this with no luck find . -name modules \! -exec sh -c 'find -name modules' \; -exec works on exit code, okay lets pass the count as exit code find . -name modules -exec sh -c 'exit $(find {} -name modules|grep -n ""|tail -n1|cut -d: -f1)' \; This should take the count of each subdirectory called modules and exit with it. No such love.

    I need to offset the time by an hour if it's currently DST in the Pacific Time Zone. How can I determine the current daylight savings status of the Pacific Time Zone, regardless of the user's local timezone? Here's what I have so far.     Hello, I have an @url.Action in which I pass a parameter to the action. When the parameter is null, I would like to just do nothing and stay on the same page. What I have done is the following: routes.MapRoute( null, "Test/View/{Id}", new { controller = "Test", action = "View" }, new { Id = @"\d+" } //id must be numerical ); routes.IgnoreRoute("Test/View/{*pathInfo}"); The action is not executed but my problem is that I get this: Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.   • Session being reset when using sub-domain.

    Hi, I'm trying to use sub-domains in my ASP.NET website but I'm coming across a few problems with the session being reset. I've edited my hosts file to have 'localhost', 'one.localhost' and 'two.localhost'. I can go to any of these URLs and do what I need to do and login to my system. The session mode is defined as follows in the web.config: I'm using SQLServer as the website will be ran as a webfarm. What I'm finding is when I click something that causes a postback all the session is lost and a new session id is created, when this occurs my website is now 'localhost' rather than the logged in 'one.localhost' for example. Does anyone know what might be causing this? Cheers

  • Does background iOS require specific provisioning?

    I've added the appropriate XML to my PLIST ("audio key") and my app did stream audio in the background. I installed the app on to an iPhone 3GS running iOS 4 via Ad Hoc distribution. I played audio in my app and pressed the home key. It was still playing. Then I switched computers and reset my provisioning profile. I recompiled and exported with a generic provisioning profile. I sent the app to someone else to test on their 3GS via Ad Hoc and the app does not work in the background.

Doesn't the compiler understand the constraint I've added on DummyImplBase? Is this a compiler bug as it works if I use Dummy directly instead of setting it as a constraint?     We have a website that displays information in a location based manner, i.e. it detects the IP of the visiting user and redirects him/her to an appropriate landing page; for e.g. a user coming from 'Egypt' will be redirected to http://www.mysite.com/egypt/cairo and a user visting from dubai will be redirected to http://www.mysite.com/uae/dubai, so on and so forth and we cater to multiple locations in the middle-east. Now, we have been advised by our SEO consultant that we should put a 301 (permanent redirect) on http://www.mysite.com to point to http://www.mysite.com/ksa/riyadh I would like to know the negative implications that this would have on Google indexing or otherwise, as I fundamentally disagree with this suggestion and believe that in a siutation like this a 302 redirect would be more appropriate.

    I have a collection of controls "MyCollection" wich changes in the Runtime. And I have to follow some constraints for that, for example: If my parameter "MyCollection.Count = 4" the property "NumberOfcolumns" will have the value 2, in order to create new Lines, and show the controls Two per Two.     I am using java.util.logging in an EJB application running on glassfish v3. I can see the log messages in server.log but i don't seem to be able to configure the logging level in glassfish\domains\domain1\logging.properties. If I use: Logger logger = Logger.getLogger("com.foo"); To obtain the logger and log with: logger.info("message"); then I expect that if I set com.foo.level=WARNING in logging.properties then the message should not logged. Am I doing something wrong here?

    I have an entry in my hosts file that points somesite.com to 127.0.0.1 (localhost) so that I can test certain aspects of my web app (i goto http://somesite.com in a browser to test). Can someone suggest a way to debug a setup like this (in visual studio) that does not include using http://localhost? I understand that this can most likely be done using remote debugger, if that is the best way can someone explain how thats setup (or a link to a good article).

What if I have thousands of plug-ins - do I have to read them all via MEF to just get one with the right metadata? If so how do you cache the result?
