  • Using custom scrollbar on jquery lightbox

    Hi, I need to use a custom scrollbar on jquery lightbox. My requirement is that when user clicks on a link then a popup appears and the popup contains 2 or 3 tabs, user can click on any tab to see it's content. In one of those tabs I need scrollbar to show huge content but the scrollbar should not be default it should be custom with any color. Currently I am using "JQuery's JScrollPane" plugin http://jscrollpane.kelvinluck.com to achieve the functionality, but this is not working on IE 6,7 and 8, mean scrollbar does not appear on IE. It works fine on Firefox and Chrome. Note: the same plugin works fine on IE also when I use it on page's element which is available while page load but not while the element is shown dynamically on lightbox. Thanks

It works in chrome but in i.e. the div is still on the left: <html> <head></head> <body> <div id="container" style="margin:0 auto; width:200px;"> test </div> </body> </html> Everything I've read has said that to center a block element, simply add margin:0 auto and specify a width, so I don't know why this isn't working.   • jQuery not refreshing tabs content in IE

    Hi all! I have a page that is using jQuery tabs. Within one of my tabs I have a div that contains a form (initially hidden) that I want to use to add content to the tab. What I have works perfectly in Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. But, in IE 7 the tab will not refresh. The post works and the data gets added to the database, but it simply will not show the new content after submitting it. I don't think it matters - but, just for information I am using the Codeigniter PHP framework as well.   • Problem with IE when using display:block for links

    This is my HTML: <div id="links"> <a href="">Link 1</a> <a href="">Link 2</a> <a href="">Link 3</a> <a href="">Link 4</a> </div> And these are the CSS styles: #links { position: absolute; border: 1px solid #000; } #links a { display: block; } #links a:hover { background-color: #CCC; } This displays a list of links, the problem is that in IE, I can only click a link by directly clicking the text link, which is not the case with other browsers (where you can click anywhere whether the text link or anywhere else as long as it's in the link block), is there any fix for that (with only CSS, no javascript)? Please note that I don't want to specify a width for the links or the div.

I was thinking of this: Use traditional PHP file upload form to upload the file to the server. Put files in a queue folder Move the queue folder to a "process" folder, and replace queue folder after a predetermined limit (time, cronjob, file count, collective file size) Run a command line virus scan on files in process folder Place safe files in holding area for use Is this a good approach?

  • Some web pages (especially Apple documentation) cause heavy CPU usage in Windows IE8

    Maybe this belongs in Server Fault instead, but some of you may have noticed this issue (particularly those developing on Mac, using a Windows machine to read the reference material). I posted the same question on a Microsoft forum and got one answer from someone who reproduced the problem, so it's not just my machine. No solution yet. Ever since this month's security updates, I find that many web pages cause the CPU to run at maximum for as long as the web page is visible. This happens in both IE7 and IE8 on at least three different computers (two with Windows XP, one with Vista). Here is one of the pages, running on XP with IE 8: http://learning2code.blogspot.com/2007/11/update-using-subversion-with-xcode-3.html Here is one that does it in Vista with IE8: http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/documentation/Cocoa/Reference/Foundation/Classes/NSString_Class/Reference/NSString.html You can leave the page open for hours and the CPU is still at high usage. This doesn't happen every time. It is not always reproduceable. Sometimes it is OK the second or third time it loads. In IE7 the high usage is in ieframe.dll, version 7.0.6000.16890. In IE8 the high usage is in iertutil.dll, version 8.0.6001.18806.

  • How to create 2 different scripts for 2 browsers (IE+all the rest)

    I'm trying to solve an IE CSS issue by using conditional tags. My jQuery that does the job of tabbed box effect calls an id that is inside the conditional tags. I've given new ids to IE so on IE the jQuery is not working. I tried to duplicate the script with the new id in one of the script but the 2 scripts seems to get in conflict.     I used to work with flot but it doesn't support pie charts so I'm forced to change. I just saw JS Charts, but their documentation is very obscure regarding cross browser compatibility (I need it to be IE6+ compliant :). Also this will be for commercial use, so I'd rather have something that I can use free of charge jQuery Google chart looks really nice and is well integrated with rails (the framework I'm using) but I'm not sure how good it is. So what do you guys use? What would you recommend keeping in mind that: It will be for commercial use (I can deal with a license, but I'd rather avoid that) It needs to be javascript (no svg, no flash please) It needs to be compatible with IE6+, FF, Chrome, Opera and Safari It needs to be pretty ^^ If it uses jQuery it's even better

    At my place of employment, we are increasingly finding it difficult to develop for IE, which was historically the easiest browser to target, from an intranet-app point of view. It was already deployed. It already understood NTLM authentication, thus well integrated with our domain-level security. It had neat, albeit non-standard features such as XMLDOM and XmlHTTP. Now, we are increasingly irritated by issues presented by IE: There are several versions: IE 7, 8, and soon 9 beta, which all have slightly different issues related to performance, functionality (especially re:security and zones), and aesthetics. IE 7 and 8 are slower than Webkit-based browsers. Period. There are technology limitations such as missing canvas element, CSS bugs, etc. that make it hard to use 3rd party packages or even consistently write code across IE versions. Users are increasingly using Firefox or Chrome, even for intranet use. Does anyone have experience with making a transition? Any advice would be welcome.

Opera is good enough, though it prints the main document instead of just the object. IE7 gives the following error details: Line: 57 Char: 1 Error: 'undefined' is null or not an object Line 57 is where the button's "input" tag starts in the HTML source. Thanks to the alert('contentWindow is null') call in the JS function, I know that the object I'm getting in IE has no contentWindow property. I have tried changing the object tag to an iframe tag. This changes the JS behaviour, but causes other issues such as the height attribute being ignored and the content not displaying. Sticking with an object tag, how can I get this Object's window in IE7?

    I have some Javascript/CSS issues with IE (no suprises?). So when I see the error in IE8, I go to Tools Developer Tools. Then I navigate to the correct DIV. I click on it, look around ... then I look again at my page, and the problem is fixed! This makes debugging pretty difficult... To see the display error, go to http://www.makemeheal.com/mmh/home.do in IE, and look at the "Your Recent History" module.

    Is there any archive format that offers the following: be digitally sign-able with a digital certificate from a trusted source like Verisign - for preventing changes to the file (I am not referring to read only, but in case the file was changed it should no longer be signed telling the user this is not the original file) be stream-able - be able to be opened even if not all of the content has been transfered (also not strictly linearly) be "readable" - be able to read the data without extracting to a temporary folder (AFAIK if you open a file in a zip archive it is extracted first, and this stays true even for zip based formats like OOXML. This is not what I want) be portable - support on at least Windows, Linux and Mac OS X is a must, or at least future support be free of patents - Be open source - also preferably a license that allows commercial use(as far as i know GPL a share-alike licence so it doesn't allow comercial use, BSD on the other hand alows it) Note: Though it may come in handy eventually I can not think right now of a scenario that would require both point 1 and point 2 simultaneously. Or lets leave it a be able to check the signature only when the whole file was downloaded. I am not interested in: being able to be compressed being supported on legacy systems Does any existing archive format fit this description (tar evolutions like DAR and pax come to mind) ? If there is, are there programing libraries available for the above mentioned OSs? If not, would it be hard to create such a thing?   • Browser tabs creates multuple instances of a sidebar for each tabs. I want only one sidebar for all

    I have a sidebar (iframe). The problem is, if you open a second tab (in the same browser) it creates a new instance of the same sidebar. That means i have now 2 sidebars. In exemple, if i close the sidebar in the first tab, i would like to have it closed in the second tab as well. Is it possible to have only one instance of a sidebar in a browser, so that even if i open a new tab, the sidebar is not affected. (the goal is to interact with evey pages we visit with one sidebar. If anyone need precisions, please ask. I'll be checking for responses every single days.

  • How to navigate through folders without opening a new buffer in Emacs?

    (I don't know if it is important, but I am using Aquamacs - and yeah, I am a newbie) When I want to open a file I use C-x C-f and usually just chose my home folder. From there I go clicking on folders until I find the file I want. I really don't like thought that each new file I open creates a new buffer. This is especially annoying because I am using Aquamacs with the window (tab) option enabled. I know I could simply get rid of the window option, but I quite like it, except of course for when I open a file and a zillion tabs are created. So my question is: is there a way to disable the new buffer creation when "navigating" through folders? Thanks :)
