  • Determine how an application is closed

    I am trying to determine if my application is closed through clicking the "X" on the windows form, or if they clicked an "Exit" button I have on it. Right now I am using StackTrace.GetFrame(someIndex) to determine how, but i am looking for a more definitive way since it looks like these frame orders arent guaranteed. Is there a better way to make the distinction? This is a .NET 3.5 WinForm, and Im writing in C#.

Then develop a java backend which listens to the database for changes, and depending on what was changed, performs some actions and updates the database.     I want to develop a command line tool. I didn't build one before, but I used a few, (like mercurial). What steps do I need to take to know how to do that? So what is the problem: Regular console application need to be invoked from the command line only from it's directory. Like: C:\Projects\CommanLineProject\MyProjectConsole.exe. I want to use it from the command line from any directory, like mercurial.

Reason is that it needs to be started VERY early during boot, at a point when there is no network connection yet, also it must not wait for any network connectivity.     Not completely a programming question, but its close enough so here goes: In Mac OS I'll put user-specific files for my app in ~/Library/Application Data/{MyApp}/ and in *nix I'll put them in ~/.{MyApp}/ - where should I put them for Windows? I'll be using Ruby's File.expand_path to get to this directory, so if there's a windows equivalent of ~ then that's fine. (Answers for Windows XP, Vista and 7 would be appreciated if they're not the same)
