• How to record when user follows external links without slowing user down

  I want to track when user clicks external links for analytics purposes. The simplest solution is to replace all external links with links to special record-and-redirect controller, but that would slow the user unnecessarily. The second idea would be to override click event and within in $.post a message to record controller, then let the main event handler happen, which will usually be either click (open link in same tab) or middle click (open in new tab) - good either way, and the user won't have to wait for wait for my server to record it, it's fire-and-forget. (I don't care if users without Javascript don't get tracked) Is that a reasonable way to go? Or what else would be the best way to track all external link clicks?

  Working in ASP.NET (VB), I am trying to develop a simple search results page for my website. The process is as follows: (1) The site's user enters a search phrase; (2) The search results page searched the site's database, and returns the page title as a link, and a short snippet from each search "hit", with the search phrase highlighted. I already have the search part done, and also the "highlighted" part done (using Regex). However, I want to be able to return a short snippet of text, which include the search phrase (a few words before the search phrase, a few after). • .Net LoginControls - User can't logout in Firefox

  Basically, the logout link doesn't do anything, but only in Firefox. (I can login and out freely from other browsers) There really isn't a whole lot of information I can really give other than that, since I'm still new to this project and .net as a whole, and know almost nothing about the login controls. So if someone else has experienced a similar issue in the past, and can recognize the issue with the little info I have, that would be great! If not, sorry for the lack of depth, but its all I have. • Automatic open Colorbox modal window

  I'm using the Colorbox module in Drupal 7. I'm opening an external website. I can make it work with a link. Click here, then click the "colorbox popup" link at the bottom, middle column. The client would like this to open automatically when the page opens. • Prevent ASP.NET from encoding strings on output

  How can I stop ASP.Net from encoding anchor tags in List Items when the page renders? I have a collection of objects. Each object has a link property. I did a foreach and tried to output the links in a BulletedList, but ASP encoded all the links. Any idea? Thanks! Here's the offending snippet of code. • Serve static symbolic links with nginx

  I'm using nginx to serve some static files that are actually symbolic links. When I do this the Last-Modified headers sent by nginx use the timestamp of the target file, not of the link itself. So, if I now have link C pointing to A, and I change it to point it to B (A and B have the same timestamp) I still see the content of A in the browser. I don't know if it's from the browser cache (because it has the same Last-Modified header) or from nginx. Any idea on how to fix this?

  Hello! At the moment, I am creating some kind of admin panel/backend for my site. I want to do the following: Only admins (a user has a user_role(integer) -- 1 = admin, 2 = moderator, 3 = user) can see and access a link for the admin panel. So I created an admin_controller. In my admin controller I created a new function called is_admin?: class AdminController < ApplicationController def admin_panel end def is_admin? current_user.user_role == 1 end end my route looks like. map.admin_panel '/admin-panel', :controller => 'admin', :action => 'admin_panel' and in my _sidebar.html.erb (partial in applicaton.html.erb) I created the link: <%= link_to "Admin Panel", :admin_panel unless is_admin? %> Now I get an error called: undefined method `is_admin?' I need jquery to check if an element exists, and if so, add a class to a different element. For example, if class "minimal-price-link" exists, then add a class to "regular-price" or what I really am wanting to do is make the regular-price strikethrough.   Hi, I get the following error when I try to validate a contact page on my site: document type does not allow element "script" here The element named above was found in a context where it is not allowed. This could mean that you have incorrectly nested elements -- such as a "style" element in the "body" section instead of inside "head" -- or two elements that overlap (which is not allowed). One common cause for this error is the use of XHTML syntax in HTML documents. Due to HTML's rules of implicitly closed elements, this error can create cascading effects. For instance, using XHTML's "self-closing" tags for "meta" and "link" in the "head" section of a HTML document may cause the parser to infer the end of the "head" section and the beginning of the "body" section (where "link" and "meta" are not allowed; hence the reported error).   I am looking for a free alternative to TS. What would be the best alternative stack(source control, bug tracking, project management/planning, wiki, automated builds (ci))? Keeping in mind that it would be nice if they all integrated well. For example, it would be nice to be able to link bugs to source control, and then be able to link to a project plan and then be able to automate building. I do not have issues with using Microsoft project to manage project planing. I know i would like to use these....: SVN TeamCity NUnit But i am struggling to find a good Wiki/Project Planning/Bug tracking, that would integrate well. Any questions let me know.

I'm trying to figure out if there is a way I can link back to the page and have a certain tab open based on that link.   I've created a link in Sharepoint using the Content Editor Web Part. My link uses html to open up an email with the fields to, cc, subject, and body filled out. However, in the cc section I need a number sign (#) for a mailbox. When I use the html code & #35;(minus the space) my entire code crumbles. Everything starting at the "&" disappears. However, just for kicks I tried & pound;(minus the space) and the code works for a european pound sign. Not sure what else to try. Any suggestions?

  I fount this answer, but wanted to expand on the question and couldn't find any solutions here on stack or through searching google. Substring domainname from URL SQL Basically the link above solves my problem with a simple URL like parsing "www.google.com" with the result of google. What I am looking for to expand on that is the solution from the link above doesn't help with url's like 'www.maps.google.com' that just returns maps. WHat I would like is to have it return 'google' from the url 'www.maps.google.com' or return 'example' from 'www.test.example.com'. If anyone has a solution to this, I would greatly appreciate it. Update: To be more specific I will also need parsing on second level domains etc. 'www.maps.google.com.au' to return 'google' Here is my Sql function.   In ASP.NET I'd like to create a link which points to a specific Uri and send this link in an email to a user, for instance something like http://www.BlaBla.com/CustomerPortal/Order/9876. I can create the second part of the Uri /CustomerPortal/Order/9876 dynamically in code-behind. My question is: How can I create the base Uri http://www.BlaBla.com without hardcoding it in my application? Basically I want to have something like: http://localhost:1234/CustomerPortal/Order/9876 (on my development machine) http://testserver/CustomerPortal/Order/9876 (on an internal test server) http://www.BlaBla.com/CustomerPortal/Order/9876 (on the production server) So is there a way to ask the server where the application is running: "Please tell me the base Uri of the application" ? • IE 6&7 Hanging When Opening New Window

  I've got a real interesting situation. I have an existing web app that runs on a number of desktops fine. On a few desktops I see the following behavior: Upon clicking a link that opens up a new window (to another URL in the same domain) the IE window freezes and IE needs to be killed. This happens on IE 6 & 7. When using Fiddler I see NO traffic when clicking the link. When using IE HttpAnalyzer I see a request register but no response. If I change the MaxConnectionsPerServer registry setting to a higher value, e.g. 10 the problem goes away. Looking at netstat I dont see any abnormal connections. So I'm totally confused, the issue seems to be on the client side and seems to be related to IE not being able to make an additional socket connection to the server, but netstat doesn't show that. Ideas?

• FFmpeg + iPhone - Interesting (incorrect?) video encoding results

  I'm encoding some video on the iPhone by running the png image data through swscale to get YUV420P data then encoding that frame using the MSMPEG4V1 codec. In the api docs, avcodec_encode_video should return the number of bytes used from the output buffer by that encode operation. There are 234,000 bytes going into the encoder, but the result returned by avcodec_encode_video is simply "4". The result is exactly the same over 24 frames. Something seems fishy here...any insight? Here's a pastebin link to the code: http://pastebin.com/ht94FWva (sorry for the link away from SO, I just didn't want to have the code duplicated in several places) EDIT: Also, I've set up a custom log callback for ffmpeg to use and I have the log level set to "Verbose" (libavutil/log.h), so libavcodec should be logging any goofs to the console, but avcodec is quiet throught he whole operation. (note: I did test to make sure my log callback was working)

  Hi, Is it possible to redirect a user to a php page and then redirect to different image, if the user is requesting for the image ? For example if user requests for the image or if other website requests for the image, it should be redirected to the php page and then redirected to a different image. Like if other website requests for http://example.com/images/a.gif, the website will get a different image i.e. http://example.com/images/b.gif. Is it possible? Let me know if I am not clear with my problem. Thanks. Edit : I am trying to create avatar changer for a forum, but the problem is that I cannot add a php link to my avatar. So I think if I could add a image link and when the forum requests the image I could redirect it internally to a php page and then from the php page I would redirect it to a different image.

• Task.wait not working as I imagined

  I am trying to download a file, wait for the file to finish downloading, and then read the file afterwards. This is throwing an IOException saying that the file is in use by something else and cannot be read. I thought that having task.Wait would prevent the rest of the method from executing until the task was finished?
