• How to select a MenuItem programatically

  I am trying to add a global shortcut to a gtk.MenuItem which has a sub menu. Here is my code: import pygtk, gtk import keybinder dlg = gtk.Dialog('menu test') dlg.set_size_request(200, 40) menubar = gtk.MenuBar() menubar.show() menuitem = gtk.MenuItem('foo') menuitem.show() menubar.append(menuitem) mitem = gtk.MenuItem('bar') mitem.show() menu = gtk.Menu() menu.add(mitem) menu.show() menuitem.set_submenu(menu) def show_menu_cb(): menubar.select_item(menuitem) keybinder.bind('<Super>i', show_menu_cb) dlg.vbox.pack_start(menubar) dlg.show() dlg.run() When I press the key menu pops up, I can then select items in the sub menu or press Esc to make it disappear. But after that the menuitem keeps selected and other windows never get input focus again. I have to click on the menuitem twice to get everything back normal.

  I have a method: odp(foo& bar); I'm trying to call it: foo baz; odp(&baz); I get a compiler error: error C2664: "odp" cannot convert parameter 1 from 'foo *' to 'foo &' What am I doing wrong? Aren't I passing in a reference to baz? UPDATE: Perhaps I have a misconception about the relationship between pointers and references. I thought that they were the same, except references couldn't be null. Is that incorrect?

• Very long tree control inside a <frame>

  I have an tree control inside of a frame. It's quite tall, around 2000 pixels. Right now, we use the frame's scroll bars, which is mostly good. Unfortunately, when you select an item near the bottom of the list, the page reloads and the view goes back to the top of the list. I tried calling the tree control's ScrollNodeIntoView() function, but since we're not using the tree's scroll bars, it just thinks that it's displaying the full 2000 pixels and the control doesn't have its own scroll bar. I'm not much of an HTML guru, so I have two ideas, neither of which I know how to do. 1) Tell the frame to not to let the tree render all 2000 pixels and instead stay inside the viewable area. 2) Tell the tree to not render all 2000 pixels and instead stay within the viewable area. Setting the CSS height property on the within the frame doesn't do anything. Thanks.

• Don't Change URL in Browser When Clicking <asp:LinkButton>

  I have an ASP.NET page that uses a menu based on asp:LinkButton control in a Master page. When a user selects a menu item, an onclick handler calls a method in my C# code. The method it calls just does a Server.Transfer() to a new page. From what I have read, this is not supposed to change the URL displayed in the browser. The problem is it that the URL changes in the browser as the user navigates the menu to different pages. Here is an item in the menu: <asp:LinkButton id="foo" runat="server" onclick="changeToHelp"><span>Help</span> </asp:LinkButton> In my C# code, I handle the event with a method like: protected void changeToHelp(object sender, EventArgs e) { Server.Transfer("Help.aspx"); } Any ideas how I can navigate through the menu without the browser's URL bar changing?

• Why is url not registered?(Drupal 6.x)

  I'm using hook_menu to register new url so that accessing this url would return some data to ajax function. As title suggested, this url is not registered. How do I know that? I've tried typing this in address bar but, drupal, return main template only rather than the tests string that I created. I'm positive that my module is working for php issues error if I intentionally write wrong syntax. And, yes, I clear cache whenever I make changes. • Visual Studio 2008 Navigate Forewards/Backwards Buttons Don't Work As Expected

  I just installed VS2008 on my new Win7 box. I have Navigate Backwards and Navigate Forwards buttons on my tool bar. When I change between documents, I do NOT see a list drop down for each of the buttons like should be seen here after opening multiple documents and switching between their methods: How it should work. Instead, I just see the buttons without drop downs. I find that navigating forwards and backwards doesn't work as it should. I should be able to click in different lines of the code and press the nav back/forwards buttons to jump between lines. This is not the case. Any suggestions? Thanks in advanced. PS - I installed SP1 just to see and nothing changed.

  Hi, I'm building some home automation software with Cocoa/Objective-C. The main application will have a minimal GUI and will most likely be represented by a status bar icon only. I'm using proprietary speech-to-text software (MacSpeech Dictate) that takes my voice command and converts it to plain text. I then need to send this plain text to my app for parsing. Is there a way to send a string to a Cocoa application? Could AppleScript achieve this? How would I make the NSString string in my app "available" to receive the passed string? (I been trying to use the native functions of the Windows API, but my conclusion is that something is seriously wrong with the functions' behavior, or their documentation.) • ReportViewr: Hyperlink to a local file doesn't work

  I need to add 2 type of links to existing report with c#. For exapmle: 1) http://www.google.co.il/ 2) file:///C:/index.html I added the links, but only the "http://" works. when I press the link of "file:///" nothing happens. • How can we block the user from unchecking a DataGridView checkbox?

  We have a DataGridViewCheckBox column bound to a boolean property in our class. The property setter has some logic which says that under certain conditions a True flag cannot be changed, ie, it stays checked forever. This is on a per record basis. So the entire column can't be readonly, only certain rows. Pseudo code: Public Property Foo() As Boolean Get Return _Foo End Get Set(ByVal value As Boolean) If _Foo And Bar And value = False Then //do nothing, in this scenario once you're true, you stay true Else _Foo = value End If End Set End Property Databinding is handling all of this fine, except that the checkbox is visibly cleared when it's clicked. Then, of course, when the binding / setter is fired (as you move off that cell) it is restored to its checked status per the underlying logic. Ultimately it doesn't matter too much but it's a clumsy bit of UI. How can we intercept the user's click and keep it checked?

I think a button, a input text box, a list box (that will need a scroll bar as there will be more items that can fit on the screen) and a slider control will be enough. I know about CeGUI framework but i just don't like it, way too many XML files for my taste. My question is where should i start in learning how to do this custom GUI controls, are there any tutorial available or any material that could get me started? I haven't done a GUI contol myself before.

  I'm writing some little helper classes to handle trees. Basically, I have a node and a special root node that represents the tree. I want to keep it generic and simple.   On the following website, www.josecvega.com, I have a navigation bar with years that link to sections on that same page. Unfortunately it is not working they way I hoped, when the user selects a year it moves to the section of the page, but puts that section on the top of the page. I have a fixed div on the top of the page that covers the sections and prevents it from properly displaying. What can I do for this to work? It hard to explain my situation, but it can be seen by going to www.josecvega.com and clicking one of the years.

  I am writing an asp.net application that exposes data in 2 ways: 1 - 1 common section that all users can see 2 - a Section that displays data specific to a registered user. in this case the user can decide how it looks (through themes), and manage the data to be displayed. Of course, the logic behind is the same, appearance would be different for as user1 and user2 The questions are : What would be best using : 'http://www.site.com/User1' or 'http://user1.site.com'. knowing that in both cases i have to make the displayed pages look like a seperate site then the root domain in anycase, the pages that will be displayed and customized on the fly are located in a subfolder of the of the asp.net project (projectrootpath\personalpages). What is the best way to map the personalpages subfolder to a subdomain or a 'http://www.site.com/userX' in the address bar. i also use "~/" in the urls which in this case needs to point to the personalpages rather then the root . Any help is gretaly apreciated.

  I'm building a calculator that has a slider. Everytime I slide the bar an input box is updated with the number, the calculator passes the value and updates the calculation. So my input boxes have dollar values that can range anywhere from $0 to $10,000. Right now my boxes display 0 to 10000 and I want them to be displayed as $0 to $10,000. I'm assuming jquery would be my best route here. How do I format an input box to display values like this. Sort of like an input mask. note: users never have to type into the input box, its all controlled by the slider.

  I've define a type: type Foo is record bar : Positive; end record; I want to create a function that returns an instance of the record: function get_foo return Foo is return (1); end get_foo; But Ada won't let me, saying "positional aggregate cannot have one argument". Stupidly trying, I've added another dumb field to the record, and then return (1, DOESNT_MATTER); works! How do I tell Ada that's not a positional aggregate, but an attempt to create a record?

• How do I make an About window the front-most window in a Cocoa application with no UI?

  I'm building a Cocoa application that runs as an item in the status bar. This application has an About window and an item to activate that about window, using the standard Cocoa mechanism for doing so (-[NSApplication orderFrontStandardAboutPanel:]). Naturally this is all hooked up automagically. It works great except for one thing: unlike most About windows, it shows up underneath all other windows, rather than on top. I believe this is because the application does not have a UI, so all its windows are automatically beneath other windows. Is there a way I can hook into the NSApplication mechanism for displaying the About window so I can send it to the front? I've poked around in the docs for NSApplication, but there's no way to get a reference to the About window that I can see so that I can make it appear on top.
