  • [UIScreen applicationFrame] returning incorrect rectangle on landscape application launch (iPhone/iP

    Having trouble getting the correct bounds for my iPad application when launching it in landscape mode. I have the proper keys set in my Info.plist file, and my view controllers launch properly in landscape (and portrait, natch). In my applicationDidFinishLaunching: method I'm calling a selector after a 3 second delay, and that method makes a call to [[UIScreen applicationFrame]`, but it's returning me a portrait frame (ie height width). Does anyone know how to fix this? It smells like a bug to me (if so I'll file a radar), but if it's intended behaviour, where is it documented?

    Hi there. I'm packaging my open-source non-commercial java application in a .jar and I'd like to package the JDBC mysql-connector with it as it is a dependency. The issue that I am having is that I'm uncertain whether or not this is frowned upon or even illegal due to the JDBC license. I've also got the jdbc mysql-connector jar in my code repository. -- Has anyone been in the same situation? Thanks in advance.

I do this by having the fiq_flip_pins function defined in the monolithic kernel and not as a module which gets vmalloc. If I don't branch to the fiq_flip_pins function, and instead do the work in the test_fiq_handler function everything works as expected. It's the branching that's causing me problems at the moment.   • Visual Studio Debugging is not attaching to WebDev.WebServer.EXE

    I have a solution with many projects. On Debug, I have three web projects that I want to start up on their own Cassini ASP.NET Web Development servers. In the Solution Properties - Common Properties - Startup Project, I have Multiple startup projects chosen with the three web applications' Action set to Start. All three web development servers start, and all three web pages load. However, Visual Studio is only attaching to two of the WebDev.WebServer.EXE processes. I have to manually go attach to the third process in order to debug it with the debugger. This behavior just started happening, and I'm at a loss as to how to troubleshoot this. Any help is appreciated. EDIT: Also to note, I have stopped and restarted the development servers several times with no change in behavior. Also, when attaching to the process manually, I see that the Type property of the two automatically attached WebDev.WebServer.EXE processes is Managed, while the Type property of the unattached WebDev.WebServer.EXE process is TSQL, Managed, x86. When looking at the project's properties, however, I am targeting AnyCPU, and do NOT have SQL Server debugging enabled. EDIT: Also to note, the two projects that attach correctly are C# web applications. <ProjectTypeGuids>{349c5851-65df-11da-9384-00065b846f21};{fae04ec0-301f-11d3-bf4b-00c04f79efbc}</ProjectTypeGuids> The project that is not attaching correctly is a VB.NET web application. <ProjectTypeGuids>{349c5851-65df-11da-9384-00065b846f21};{F184B08F-C81C-45F6-A57F-5ABD9991F28F}</ProjectTypeGuids> EDIT: Also to note, the behavior is the same on another workstation.   • iPhone provisioning profile suddenly stops working (not expired)

    Hey there! We have a couple of iPhones in our office. All of them have provisioning profiles installed on them. One of the phones (my bosses :S) all of a sudden won't allow me to install apps to it, complaining that a valid provisioning profile cannot be found. The profile isn't expired, and the problem is, I'm guessing, not with the XCode files, as I can install the same project to all the other phones. Does anyone know why this might have occurred or how I can fix this? Thanks! Tristan

  • How does the linux kernel manage less than 1GB physical memory ?

    I'm learning the linux kernel internals and while reading "Understanding Linux Kernel", quite a few memory related questions struck me. One of them is, how the Linux kernel handles the memory mapping if the physical memory of say only 512 MB is installed on my system. As I read, kernel maps 0(or 16) MB-896MB physical RAM into 0xC0000000 linear address and can directly address it. So, in the above described case where I only have 512 MB: How can the kernel map 896 MB from only 512 MB ? What about user mode processes in this situation? Where are user mode processes in phys RAM? Every article explains only the situation, when you've installed 4 GB of memory and the kernel maps the 1 GB into kernel space and user processes uses the remaining amount of RAM. I would appreciate any help in improving my understanding. Thanks..!

  • Please help to clean up my RoR development environment

    I started RoR development a few months ago, and being new to Mac... Time flies and now I have a lot different ruby versions, rails versions and gems versions located everywhere......And currently I installed rvm and things got even worst, all things messed! And so I started want to clean all things and use rvm again! I want to uninstall all gems, all rails, and all ruby versions, except the system's default one (the very old one born with the mac). Or any other better solutions or suggestions!?   • JDBC connections: How to specify the port for data-transfer?

    I wanto to run my JDBC-connection (either Oracle or MSSQL) through a proxy-server. Reason for this is to have additional controls of the traffic, especially for developing. I know, I could specify the proxy, which runs on my machine, and the port in the connection-string. But the specified connection-settings are only taken as some kind of handshake to agree on which port the data is finally transferred. And this is defenitly not the port which I have under proxy-control. So, does anybody have an idea, how to specify the port for the data-transfer? I would prefer if this could be done in the connection-string. The same issue applies for Oracle and MSSQL. Thx LeO

    hi all, I am working on an iPhone application based on UITabBarController and UIViewControllers for each page. The app needs to run in portrait mode only, so every view controller + app delegate goes with this line of code: (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation: (UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { return (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait); } There is one view controller where I would like to pop up a UIImageView when the iPhone is rotaed to landscapeleft. The design of the image looks landscape, although the width and height are 320x460 ( so its portrait ). How can/should I detect this type of rotation manually, just in this specific view controller, withouth having an auto rotation on the entire view? Thomas UPDATE: Thanks!     Hi, I have an iphone app that needs to work for 3.1.3 for the iPhone and 3.2 for the iPad. It is an iPhone app that I want to work on the iPad. The main difference is the MPMoviePlayerController which introduces/and deprecates lots of things in 3.2. Since, the iPhone OS only goes up to 3.1.3 and the iPad is on 3.2, I need to seperate my code so it only compiles the required code for the respective OS. I can't use [[UIDevice currentDevice] model] because I end up with deprecated warnings on the 3.1.3 code. Also, UIUserInterfaceIdiomPad is new in 3.2 so it doesn't work well with 3.1.3... So, I decided to use this, which only compiles what is necessary for the particular OS: #if __IPHONE _3_2 //do 3.2 iPad stuff #else //do 3.1.3 iPhone/iPod Touch stuff #endif My question is...     Hi guys, I'm newbie to Java EE 6 and i'm trying to develop very simple JAX-RS application. RESTfull web service working fine. However when I ran my test application, I got the following.   • Strange Exception on getGeneratedKeys() with JDBC for MySQL 5.1

    Hello, I'm using JDBC to insert a row into a MYSQL database. I build a parameterized command, execute it and attempt to retrieve the auto generated keys as follows: String sql = "INSERT IGNORE INTO `users` (`email`, `pass-hash`) VALUES (?, ?)"; Connection conn = SQLAccess.getConnection(); PreparedStatement ps = conn.prepareStatement(sql); ps.setString(1, login); ps.setString(2, passHash); int count = ps.executeUpdate(); if (count == 1) { ResultSet rs = ps.getGeneratedKeys(); rs.next(); //some more stuff... } For some reason, I get the following SQLException on the line containing ResultSet rs = ps.getGeneratedKeys();: !Statement.Generated Keys Not Requested! Any thoughts? When I run the same query, as generated by running the app through the debugger, in a MySQL browser it executes without incident. Thanks, brian

  • Does copy_from_user modify the user pointer?

    Does the copy_from_user function, declared in uaccess.h, modify the (void __user *)from pointer? The pointer isn't declared as const in the function declaration, only the contents it points to. The reason I ask is that I want to use copy_from_user twice, with the second copy_from_user copying from the place where the first one finished. I was planning on doing something like this, is it guaranteed to work? //buf is a user pointer that is already defined copy_from_user(my_first_alloced_region, buf, some_size); //do stuff copy_from_user(my_second_alloced_region, buf + some_size, some_other_size); Thanks in advance.

Any idea what could be causing this issue? In a possibly related matter, I noticed in another script that the following code fails in the same manner (network responses stay in the process’s TCP receive queue) with the new system: $sock = new IO::Socket::INET( PeerAddr => "$server", PeerPort => 37, Proto => 'tcp', Timeout => 5 ); Whereas the following code works: $sock = new IO::Socket::INET( PeerAddr => "$server", PeerPort => 37, Proto => 'tcp' ); I have looked through the NET::DNS code and don’t see a timeout passed for the UDP sockets, so I am not sure if that this is related or not.
