  • What is SocketOptionName.ReuseAddress used for?

    I used to think that using SocketOptionName.ReuseAddress, I can reuse a port that is in TIME_WAIT state. But I tried to experiment with it and it seems it has no effect. If I check sockets using netstat, and it shows the socket is in TIME_WAIT state and I immediately run the client again, I get the exception: Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted 172.16.16.16:12345 I cannot make anything out of it. Please can you elaborate what SocketOptionName.ReuseAddress is good for?

    I'm developing an iPhone application. I have an EXC_BAD_ACCESS that occurs only in the release target; when I build the debug target the exception does not occur. However, when I set the NSZombieEnabled environment variable to YES, I still get the EXC_BAD_ACCESS with no further information. Is it even possible for NSZombieEnabled to work when executing the release target? I don't see why not, since gdb is running in both cases...

With an if statement like this: if (MyObject.MyArray.Count == 0 || MyObject.MyArray[0].SomeValue == 0) { //.... } Is it guaranteed that evaluation will stop after the "MyArray.Count" portion, provided that portion is true? Otherwise I'll get a null exception in the second part.

But if you rescue the exception in ruby, like: begin method_that_raises_an_exception rescue end puts 'You wil still get here.' The ruby code will go on, but your function will stop excecuting. How does rb_raise make this happen?

    The problem: combobox is databound to a DataView, first item in the dataview is DataRowView whose fields are DBNull.Value; Combo DropdownStyle = ComboBoxStyle.DropDownList Loads fine, displays fine, selects fine, problem is to Unselect via code. Setting the SelectedIndex to 0 throws an exception. (Setting to -1 is a no-no as per msdn doco that says dont set SelectedIndex=-1 if databound) So how to unselect without throwing an exception ? For now i wrapped it into a try/catch to just ignore the error! EDIT: As asked by Hubeza, i worked on sample code to post. Did a stripped down version of the original code in C# (original is in VB.NET) and could NOT reproduce it either. Converted to VB.NET and could NOT reproduce it either ! In other words, SelectedIndex = 0 does work in the stripped down version! Currently further investigating what else could be wrong with the original code. EDIT2: Case Closed. Call me a stupid fool if you like, and apologies for wasting anyone's time - The error was originating from MyComboBox_SelectedIndexChanged event, which i neglected to check ! When I try to upgrade it to .Net 4.0 everything compiles but I get a runtime error where the innermost exception is this: `The IDbCommand and IDbConnection implementation in the assembly System.Data.SQLite could not be found.` The only change made to the project was switching the Target Framework to 4.0.
