Is anyone familiar with a library or tool that can determine which format an excel file is in? Or, failing that, documentation on the different formats that would allow me to write my own?
i have a freelance work website where programmers bid on projects. i want to draw a bell curve/ normal distribution chart for the bids placed on each project to show the percentage of bids higher or lower than the average bid. is there any statistical tool available that could take the data from the site and draw a graph?
Project I'm working on uses jQuery.
I have a series of Ajax calls being made that load() other HTML fragments which in turn load() other fragments. The whole thing is confusing. I didn't write the code.
Is there any tool which will allow me to walk the callstack so I can figure what is calling a method? any browser tools that would help me figure this out?
Hi,
I'm currently understanding one application developed both in visual basic and c#. Running through the code is getting tough as code is around 50KLOC. So i'm planning for generation of AST (abstract syntax tree). Will it be possible to generate for both language together.
Atleast a call graph generation will be helpful (but can't find any tool which works for both languages)
Please let me know if this question is confusing.
Thanks in Advance
Dev
Hello,
When we compile a java program, we get .class files. Can I access these .class files of java core libraries? e.g. can I have access to java.lang.String.class ?
Actually I am doing a research and trying to find branch coverage of some java core libraries. The tool I am using for branch coverage actually instruments the .class files.
Thanks
Hi
We want to be able to view an audit of changes to groups/members/user profiles within MOSS. Can we do this out of the box or would we need a 3rd party tool?
Is everything within MOSS audited somewhere or just certain aspects of it?
All the best
Hi,
I have several files about 15k each of CSV data I need to import into SQL Server 2005.
What would be the simplest way to import the csv data into sql server? Ideally, the tool or method would create the table as well, since there are about 180 fields in it, this would simplify things.
I am using .net directoryService to execute an LDAP query and retrieve the users from AD.
but when I run the same query using CSVDE tool , i get more no of result as compared to the directorySerrvice. in both the case, i'm using thesame credential to run the application and CSVDE.
does any one have any idea if I need to set some flag or any thing while using directoryservice. any pointer will be helpful.
Hi All
There is Role Management feature in ASP.NET
It works on local development machine.
For our project we need customers admin to be able to create new users and manage their roles.
So, basically same what aspnet_regsql.exe does.
Question is
Should we develop our own pages and forms or use some ready made tool?
Thanks!
We have some JPA entity classes which are currently under development and wouldn't want them as part of the testing cycle. We tried commenting out the relevant entity classes in META-INF\persistence.xml but the hbm2ddl reverse engineering tool still seems to generate SQL for those entities. How do I tell my code to ignore these classes? Are there any annotations for these or should I have to comment out the @Entity annotation along with my changes in persistence.xml file.
I am looking for a small linux tool that would be able to extract text from odt file.
It just needs to be human-readable and it can have problems with complicated objects etc.
It's almost a duplicate of this question but I need it to be small and have no dependencies on OpenOffice or X server
I remember having a 1MB MS-DOS program that could render .doc files quite readibly (with some weird markup getting through from time to time), so i expect it to be possible in the linux world too ;)
I am new to UML diagramming, but I'm trying to learn the ropes. Using a tool such as Visio or AgroUML how would you represent a .NET Datatype in your diagram? Two examples that I would like to do:
DataTable
List<MyObject>
The only method I see right now is creating a class that represents a datatable. As far as representing collections, I can't find any method to do that.
Thanks!
According to this question, the most popular ORM tool for .Net is NHibernate. However, zero explanations are given. What are the compelling advantages of NHibernate over the other frameworks?
When creating a new .resx file anywhere in my solution, I would like the following properties to be other than the default:
Copy to Output Directory: Copy if newer
Custom Tool namespace: Booking.Resources
Access Modifier: public
Is there any way I can change the default Visual Studio behavior on creation of these files, so I don't have to make the above changes manually each time?

I've been trying to implement a mySQL Proxy solution that can separate out the queries into per-database logs. Everything I've Googled has pointed to mySQL Proxy but I can only seem to capture the database a connection was opened to, not which the current query is being issued against.
Is it even possible? Is there a different tool to use?
Thanks for any suggestions.
Given a PDF document, is it possible to generate a XSL-FO (FOP) template?
Obviously, this would be a one-time thing - the generated template would just be a starting point for creating a proper template that pulls in the appropriate data.
For me, the ideal tool for doing so would be a Java-based one and should be executable from the command line or through an ANT task. Failing that, it would be something that runs on Linux and MacOS X.
Hello
My motivation for this question is really just to specify an image to be used in a user control via a dependency property for ImageSource. I'm hitting some pain points involving the management, access, and unit testing for this.
Is the resource editor a good tool to use to maintain images for the application?
What is the best way to translate the Bitmap from the editor to an ImageSource?
How can I grab the resource Filename from the editor?
Cheers,
Berryl
I use JCL Project Analyser to see what units are used in my project, in order to 'clean' it. But, for big projects, I don't really see the dependencies beause I see the units names but not where they are used.
I used Map file but with no success.
Is there any free tool for having used units AND where they are used ?
I tried GExpert Project Dependancies without succes :
Example : I have JCLInifiles in Project Analyser but I don't see it in GExpert Project Dependancies.
I'm building an firebug-like inspection tool for my page. When the mouse enters an element, the element should be highlighted.
Now I'm creating an element which I position absolute on top of the target element, this however means the next mousemove event (which is bound to the document) will fire with the actual "highlight element" as the target.
Is there a way to prevent the "highlight element" from being the target element in the mousemove event? The element already has a transparant background.
It seems that Cron doesn't support a seconds interval. What is the easiest way to run a cli script (php) every 15 seconds? Is there a cron tool that works specifically with seconds (then I could use Cron to call it every minute)?
I'd like to find a tool that I can use to point at a specific Window in a large application with many DLLs and discover the path (or at least the name) of the DLL used to render this window.
Hi,
I was wondering if there is a less intrusive way to analyze a running, managed process in production environments.
Less intrusive meaning:
No delay of execution when attaching the debugger.
No delay of execution when getting basic stats like running threads.
In the Java world there is a such a tool part of the JDK. I was wondering if there're similar tools in the .NET world.
Any ideas?
Alex
I was wondering (if possible) if there was a program/tool/utility that when I create a new file and provide it with an extension that it creates the tags automatically?
For example, a new file I create called index.php would have the appropriate tags auto-generated inside:
<?php
?>
I hope you get the idea. Does one, or could one, exist, preferably Windows based?
Any information regarding this would be helpful.
