• Why do I get a blank screen when starting Wubi?

  I used Wubi to download 12.04 on a new partition. When restarting, the computer (Levono windows 7 -64) froze with no signal on my screen. Turning the computer on and off I received the option to sign in on windows or ubuntu. Windows worked well, but Ubuntu seems to bomb again as before. I can look at the new partition where some Ubuntu files exist via Windows explorer. What am I to do? Is 12.04 compatible with windows 7?

  In the Unity3D game engine, a common code sequence for getting remote data is this: WWW www = new WWW("http://remote.com/data/location/with/texture.png"); yield return www; What is the underlying mechanism here? I know we use the yield mechanism in order to allow the next frame to be processed, while the download is being completed. But what is going on under the hood when we do the yield return www ? What method is being called (if any, on the WWW class)? Is Unity using threads? Is the "upper" Unity layer getting hold of www instance and doing something?

  On March 14-15th we have celebrated our 2012 Exadata & Manageability Partner Communities EMEA Forum, in Istanbul, Turkey. It has been an intense two days, packed with great content and a lot of networking. Organizing the Manageability and the Exadata Partner Forums jointly has allowed participants to benefit from the content of both topcis, which have strong connections as the journey to cloud architectures request that the cloud infrastructures are built on the best building blocks and are managed automatically and in a self-service way. During the sessions we have listened to two thought-leaders in our industry, Ron Tolido, from Capgemini, and Julian Dontcheff, from Accenture. We thank our Exadata partners -ISE (Germany), Inserve (Sweden), Fors (Russia), Linkplus (Turkey) and Sogeti, for sharing with the community their experiences in selling and implementing Exadata and Manageability projects. • Install Opera on 64-bit

  I tried to follow the instructions on the opera page, but it didn't work. I was assuming the base install should be the same for 64-bit, but it doesn't look so. After executing wget -qO - http://deb.opera.com/archive.key | sudo apt-key add - successfully sudo apt-get install opera says Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Package opera is not available, but is referred to by another package. This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source E: Package 'opera' has no installation candidate Below on the page I see A 64 bit Linux version is available, you should get it automatically either from the repositories or from Opera I haven't tried to download it manually, since I prefer to get it from a repo. It it possible?

Could not create Temporary file. The /wp-content folder and all it's subfolders have 777 permission. I've added the following two lines to wp-config.php: putenv('TMPDIR='.ini_get('upload_tmp_dir') ); define('WP_TEMP_DIR', ABSPATH .'wp-content/uploads/'); What else should I try? I am using Wordpress 3.04 in a PHP 4.49 environment.

  I've mentioned in the past that Oracle has invested quite a bit in acquiring social companies to build out its Social Relationship Management suite.  The concept is to shift away from transactions and towards engagement.  Social media represents a great opportunity to engage with customers, learn what they want, and personalize the shopping experience for them. I look at SRM as the bridge between traditional CRM and CX.  If you're looking for ideas, check out Five Social Retailing Suggestions and Social Analytics and the Customer.  There are lots of ways to leverage social media to enhance the customer experience and thus drive more sales. My friends over at 8th Bridge have just released their Social IQ report in which they rate retailers on their social capabilities.  They also produced a nice infographic so you can consume the data quickly, but I'd still encourage you to download the full report. Retailers interested in upping their SRM abilities should definitely stop by the Oracle booth at NRF in January.

  I want to create an application and maybe upload it to the play store but I am not sure if that what my app does is legal or not. I am downloading a page's source from a website to get some information I need. For example if I download a page about the song "Ramble On" by Led Zeppelin and parse this page source to get the song's name, maybe a link to an image and the lyrics. Would that be illegal or can I display these information to my users without getting any problem? Also the website says it's an "open 'wiki-style' [...].It's completely user built by people like you and used every day by fans and developers alike."

And then client has to manually unzip the folder and copy that to required location. Because there is no way to download zip file to required location. • How do I update the IcedTea Plugin on 12.10?

  Whenever I open up the page http://www.runescape.com/game.ws? in google chrome I get the notice, "IcedTea was blocked because it is out of date" and gives me the two options of updating it or running this time. I've gone to the link attached to the option of updating it and its a wikipedia page http://icedtea.classpath.org/wiki/Main_Page that wasn't helpful for me because I didn't know what to download and install. Whenever I click, 'Run this time' it works momentarily but it is prone to have the runescape interface in the browser disappear and be replaced with a black screen.

• How are crossplatform/multiple-OS C++ projects planned in terms of code and tools?

  I want to create a project in C++ that can work in Windows, Linux and Embedded Linux. How are projects created when they have to work across many OS'es? Is it first created on one OS and then the code slowly modified to be ported to another OS? Eg: to me, the Linux version of Firefox appears to be created as a Windows project and a separate Linux project with a different code base, since Firefox behaves a bit different in Windows and Linux. Although the source code download is surprisingly a single link. If QT is used for UI, Boost threads for threading, Build Bot for CI and NetBeans/Eclipse/QT Creator for an IDE, would a person be able to minimise the amount of code re-write required to get the project onto another OS? Is this the right way to do it, or are such projects meant to be created as two entirely separate projects for two separate OS'es?

• Where does node.js install to?

  I'm trying to install a script, which is a clone of a game, and uses node.js for it. Now, the documentation says I should copy the node.exe (windows) and put it where the clone is. Now, I can't find the node.exe ubuntu equivalent, I can't even find where it's installed?! Don't really want this hosted on a windows machine due to licensing. Here's a snipet from the doc: Download : Node.js (Install Button) Go where you are install Node.js (For Windows 8 it's C:/Programms/nodejs) Copy node.exe and paste on the clone folder Now I need to do this in ubuntu, however I can't find where node is installed to? Any ideas?

• I'm trying to install Bruteforce Savedata from the archiver

  I've just installed UBUNTU 12.04 for curiosity purposes. I'm a gamer and I wanted to install Brute force Save data on my comp. So i download it and it open in the Archive manager i go to run the ".exe" but encounter this message Archive: /home/c4/Desktop/Bruteforce_Save_Data_installer.exe [/home/c4/Desktop/Bruteforce_Save_Data_installer.exe] End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on the last disk(s) of this archive. zipinfo: cannot find zipfile directory in one of /home/c4/Desktop/Bruteforce_Save_Data_installer.exe or /home/c4/Desktop/Bruteforce_Save_Data_installer.exe.zip, and cannot find /home/c4/Desktop/Bruteforce_Save_Data_installer.exe.ZIP, period. • Installing KDE in Ubuntu 12.04

  Is it good to use kubuntu or Ubuntu with KDE? Well if I install KDE in Ubuntu will there be any instability or conflict? Will these two get mixed up with themes and icons? I had a bad experience with Gnome shell in Ubuntu 12.04.When I logged in with Gnome, the Gnome theme was mixed up with unity,the same happened with Unity,so I had to uninstall Gnome. Is there any way to make Ubuntu look exactly like Kubuntu(same UI,menus and theme),the KDE apps does not matter to me.(I don't wanna download Kubuntu). I want to keep both Unity and KDE.

• Deluge stopped working

  I've made the leap from Windows to Ubuntu 12.04 for about a week now. All has been going well and i even managed to fix the slow Internet issue but i definately need specific help with this one. I share a laptop with my brother who installed Tor, tor-geoipdb and torsocks. I removed these applications as I realised the Internet was slow for some reason. The problem I have now is that Deluge will not download anything, I tried to uninstall reinstall but still the same thing. Can you help???
