• How do I create static instances of a class inside that class?

  I have a class Color that holds values for the red, green, and blue channels of a color. The class constructor lets you create a new color by specifying values for the three channels. However, for convenience, I would also like to have some "premade" colors available for the programmer. For example instead of having something like DrawRectangle(new Color(1, 0, 0)); you would be able to say DrawRectangle(Color.Red); Where Color.Red is an instance of Color that lives inside the Color class. How can I declare these instances of Color inside the Color class? If there is a name for this type of technique I'd like to know it as I had no idea what search terms to use when I was looking for help online.

There may even be two hash lookups on line 'B' -- one to get the int value and another to update it.

• Re-order form fields on submit url

  I have a get form with several visible and hidden input fields. When the form is submitted, selected fileds with their values are appended to the url in the order they are placed in the form. Is there a way to re-order the parameters in the url using jQuery? Note that for the reasons of usability, I can not re-order the elements on the form itself. I know it beggs the question "why would I want to do it?", but the reason is that I will be hitting a static page, so the order of the parameters have to be exactly how they are in the static page url. • Android preferencesActivity setDefaultValue() not working?

  I'm extending PreferenceActivity for my settings screen. In this preference activity i have a couple of preferences one of which is custom made. The problem is as follows: in this custom preference (which extends from ListPreference) i want to be able to set the default value, so i override the setDefaultValue() method. In this method i do some parsing so it'll take the correct value. When i'm trying to read this value with the getValue() function it just returns null. So i figured, what happens when i just put some hardcoded value in there (you know, maybe i did something wrong, wouldn't be the first time). Well, i still get null back. Any ideas what i'm doing wrong? Edit: Setting the defaultValue in the xml file isn't really an option because the values aren't known until i retrieve them. I made a workaround: When app is started for the first time: get data Set the values in the preference. This way i set the default preference when i'm collection the data

• How can I create an enum using numbers?

  Is it possible to make an enum using just numbers in C#? In my program I have a variable, Gain, that can only be set to 1, 2, 4, and 8. I am using a propertygrid control to display and set this value. If I were to create an enum like this... private enum GainValues {One, Two, Four, Eight} and I made my gain variable of type GainValues then the drop-down list in the propertygrid would only show the available values for the gain variable. The problem is I want the gain values to read numerically an not as words. But I can not create an enum like this: private enum GainValues {1,2,4,8} So is there another way of doing this? Perhaps creating a custom type?

  I have 4 tables: tempTBL, linksTBL and categoryTBL, extra on my tempTBL I have: ID, name, url, cat, isinserted columns on my linksTBL I have: ID, name, alias columns on my categoryTBL I have: cl_id, link_id,cat_id on my extraTBL I have: id, link_id, value How do I do a single query to select from tempTBL all items where isinsrted = 0 then insert them to linksTBL and for each record inserted, pickup ID (which is primary) and then insert that ID to categoryTBL with cat_id = 88. after that insert extraTBL ID for link_id and url for value. I know this is so confusing, put I'll post this anyhow... This is what I have so far: INSERT IGNORE INTO linksTBL (link_id,link_name,alias) VALUES(NULL,'tex2','hello'); # generate ID by inserting NULL INSERT INTO categoryTBL (link_id,cat_id) VALUES(LAST_INSERT_ID(),'88'); # use ID in second table I would like to add here somewhere that it only selects items where isinserted = 0 and iserts those records, and onse inserted, will change isinserted to 1, so when next time it runs, it will not add them again.

• UITextView refuses to change its color

  Hello, in some cases things you'd expect to solve within a sec turn out to become a lifetime adventure. This is one of these cases :) All I wanted to do, is simply change the text color of one of my UITextViews. So far I tried: UIColor *myColor = [UIColor colorWithHue:38 saturation:98 brightness:100 alpha:1.0]; [myTextView setTextColor:myColor]; OR UIColor *myColor = [UIColor colorWithPatternImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"colorImage.png"]]; [myTextView setTextColor:myColor]; Both seem to work fine for UILabels, but fail for UITextView elements. When I try [UIColor colorWithHue... I only get a reddish kinda color, no matter what values I choose (except values for black and white. They work). The colorWithPatternImage does not change textColor at all. Strange isn't it? I obviously must be missing something. Help is very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

First of all, the user fill an html table with the values that he has selected and written in the form. after that he will find his parameters displayed in the html table. the problem now is : the table contains in each row an edit button when clicking on it; the user should have the form automatically filled with values"previously selected" of the row. so it's how to reload the form with variables from html table. Note : I construct the table with a servlet. Please help.

The results are fine except when table B is completely empty, but then I do not get any records, even from table A. Later It wont work yet! • Getting time from a cell in Google Spreadsheet

  Hi I have created a Google Spreadsheet form in which for one of the fields I get the time (hh:mm:ss) in 24-hour format. I am using Google Apps Scripts to read values from this spreadsheet and put it into another file. But the other file gets the entire date (don't know from where) and shows a date from 1899. Also the time is shown in PDT (not my time zone). Even the time it prints is not correct How do I read the column value as a string and put it in the other file OR get just the time from the column value (and the correct time) I am using a simple row[0][3] to get the values from an array after doing range.getValues() Thanks.

Now i want to create one big array with all the pixel values of all the images. Therefore I have to call this method several times. Now I would like to concatenate the previous output to the current output until all images are read.   I'm still investigating issues I have with GC tuning (see prior question), which involves lots of reading and experimentation. Sun Java5+ JVMs attempt to automatically select the optimal GC strategy and parameters based on their environment, which is great, but I can't figure out how to query the running JVM to find out what those parameters are. Ideally, I'd like to see what values of the various GC-related -XX options are being used, as selected automatically by the VM. If I had that, I could have a baseline to begin tweaking. Anyone know to recover these values from a running VM?

• C# - Listing class properties like Immediate window

  Hi, I store a few classes in session. I want to be able to see the values of my class properties in trace viewer. By default I only the Type name MyNamespace.MyClass. I was wondering if I overwrite the .ToString() method and use reflection to loop over all the properties and construct a string like that ... it would do the trick but just wanted to see if there is anything already out there (specially since Immediate Window has this capability) which does the same ... i.e. list the class property values in trace instead of just the Name of the class.   Ok I know little about SQL so bare with me... I'm trying to see if certain values exist in a third level table and I don't know how to go about it. Here is the scenario... I have a Accident table that holds accident information. It has 3 one-to-many child tables (Units, Occupants, NonMotorists). An each of those child tables have their own many-to-many child table (Alcohol). I need to be able to have some way of seeing if a range of values exists in a field in those Alcohol tables.   In SQL server 2008 I have some huge tables (200-300+ cols). Every day we run a batch job generating a new table with timestamp appended to the name of the table. The the tables have no PK. I would like a generic way to compare 2 rows from two tables. Showing which cols having different values is sufficient, but showing the values would be perfect. Thanks a lot Thanks for the answers. • Seeking assistance with Escaping Data for MySQL queries

  Please don't send me a link to php.net referencing mysql_real_escape_string as the only response. I have read through the page and while I understand the general concepts, I am having some trouble based on how my INSERT statement is currently built. Today, I am using the following: $sql = "INSERT INTO tablename VALUES ('', '$_SESSION['Member1FirstName'], '$_SESSION['Member1LastName'], '$_SESSION['Member1ID'], '$_SESSION['Member2FirstName'], '$_SESSION['Member2LastName'], '$_SESSION['Member2ID'] .... and the list goes on for 20+ members with some other values entered. It seems most people in the examples already have all their data stored in an array. On my site, I accept form inputs, action="" is set to self, php validation takes place and if validation passes, data is stored into SESSION variables on page 2 then redirected to the next page in the process (page 3) (approximately 8-10 pages in the whole process). thanks!

  Hello, I'm using for now List< to iterate through some object collection and find matching element, The problem is that object has only 2 significant values Name and Link (strings) but has some other values wich I dont want to compare. I'm thinkig about using something like HashSet (wich is exactly what I'm searching for - fast) from .NET 3.5 but target framework has to be 2.0. There is something called Power Collections here: http://powercollections.codeplex.com/ But maybe there is other way? If not, can you suggest me a suitable custom collection?

  I'd like to have a submit button that submits a different value than is displayed on the button. With <input type="submit"> you can't seem to do this. With <button type="submit"> however, these can be two different values. The question is, will it work in all browsers? Trying this test code here: <form method="get" action=""> <input type="text" name="txt"/> <button type="submit" name="btn" value="val">text</button> </form> In FF 3.6 it updates my address bar with both values appropriately (and responds to me pressing enter in the text box). In IE 8, it also accepts pressing enter, displays the text value in the address bar, but it show the button's value as a GET param at all... does that mean it's not submitting it?
