• JNI unsigned char to byte array

  I'm working with a C++ library that stores image byte data in an array of unsigned characters. My jni function returns a jByteArray (which then gets converted to a BufferedImage on the java side), but I'm not sure how to fill the jByteArray from the unsigned character array (if it is possible). Can anyone provide a snippet for this last part to basically do this: // size is the size of the unsigned char array const int size = 100; unsigned char* buf = new unsigned char[size]; // buf gets passed to another library here to be populated jbyteArray bArray = env->NewByteArray(size); // now how do I get the data from buf to bArray? • Visual Studio 2010 Setup Projects and x64 Support

  I was taking the Windows Azure CmdLets project and getting it into an MSI just to make it easier to deploy in a nice package.  I ran into problems with the Setup project not being able to properly establish the right registry settings for an x64 environment. Even though you set the target platform on the Setup project to x64 the InstallUtil.lib that get’s run is still x86.  In order to have it work property, you need to follow the steps identified here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/kz0ke5xt.aspx  The section “64-bit managed custom actions throw a System.BadImageFormatException exception” covers the steps you need to follow, using the Orca MSI editor to replace the InstallUtilLib.dll from the one that the Setup Project embeds (x86) to a x64 version. • IAR Embedded Workbench MSP430 and *.lib files linking

  I was assuming that it was a really simple task but I did not find anything relevant or my mistake. So putting my problem here i.e. I have some project for MSP430 which is actually in code composer studio. I have to run this whole code into IAR embedded workbench now. There are some library files(*.lib) that are also provided with the project and that should have to be linked to build the project. After little modifications code is compiling fine but I am unable to link the libraries and getting linker errors. I worked on IAR with avr but very very little just to test some sample codes. I did not find the option where to mention these library names and their respective paths. I checked out the linker tab but I am not getting any clue to link these .lib files with project.

• What is a good motivating example for dataflow concurrency?

  I understand the basics of dataflow programming and have encountered it a bit in Clojure APIs, talks from Jonas Boner, GPars in Groovy, etc. I know it's prevalent in languages like Io (although I have not studied Io). What I am missing is a compelling reason to care about dataflow as a paradigm when building a concurrent program. Why would I use a dataflow model instead of a mutable state+threads+locks model (common in Java, C++, etc) or an actor model (common in Erlang or Scala) or something else? In particular, while I know of library support in the languages above (and Scala and Ruby), I don't know of a single program or library that is a poster child user of this model. Who is using it? Why do they find it better than the other models I mentioned?

• How to make an HTTP request in a separate thread with timeout?

  Hi, I haven't programmed in Delphi for a while and frankly didn't think I'll ever have to but... Here I am, desperately trying to find some information on the matter and it's so scarce nowadays, I can't find anything. So maybe you guys could help me out. Currently my application uses Synapse library to make HTTP calls, but it doesn't allow for setting a timeout. Usually, that's not a big problem, but now I absolutely must to have a timeout to handle any connectivity issues nicely. What I'm looking for, is a library (synchronous or not) that will allow making HTTP requests absolutely transparent for the user with no visible or hidden delays. I can't immediately kill a thread right now, and with possibility of many frequent requests to the server that is not responding, it's no good.

  Are there any well-defined conventions when programming in PowerShell? For example, in scripts which are to be maintained long-term, do we need to: Use the real cmdlet name or alias? Specify the cmdlet parameter name in full or only partially (dir -Recurse versus dir -r) When specifying string arguments for cmdlets do you enclose them in quotes (New-Object 'System.Int32' versus New-Object System.Int32 When writing functions and filters do you specify the types of parameters? Do you write cmdlets in the (official) correct case? For keywords like BEGIN...PROCESS...END do you write them in uppercase only? It seems that MSDN lack coding conventions document for PowerShell, while such document exist for example for C#.

  What's a simple and canonical way to read an entire file into memory in Scala? (Ideally, with control over character encoding.) The best I can come up with is: scala.io.Source.fromPath("file.txt").getLines.reduceLeft(_+_) or am I supposed to use one of Java's god-awful idioms, the best of which (without using an external library) seems to be: import java.util.Scanner import java.io.File new Scanner(new File("file.txt")).useDelimiter("\\Z").next() From reading mailing list discussions, it's not clear to me that scala.io.Source is even supposed to be the canonical I/O library. I don't understand what its intended purpose is, exactly. ... I'd like something dead-simple and easy to remember. For example, in these languages it's very hard to forget the idiom ...   Hi all, Here is my question, I have a solution with 4 projects in it for a WCF Service : DLL Library : Service Interface. DLL Library : Service Code. Form Application : Service hosting application. Form Application : Service client application. I'd like to have certain properties of the service accessible for the hosting application but not for the client one. If I declare a property in the client interface they will both have access to it. In fact, my service manage user identity login and keep a list of all user currently logged in. I'd like to be able to show this list in the Hosting application, like a debugging tool. But I don't want the service client to be able to access to this list. How can I do ? Thank in advance.

• Allowing threads from python after calling a blocking i/o code in a python extension generated using

  I have written a python extension wrapping an existing C++ library live555 (wrapping RTSP client interface to be specific) in SWIG. The extension works when it is operated in a single thread, but as soon as I call the event loop function of the library, python interpreter never gets the control back. So if I create a scheduled task using threading.Timer right before calling the event loop, that task never gets executed once event loop starts. To fix this issue, I added Py_BEGIN_ALLOW_THREADS and Py_END_ALLOW_THREADS macros manually in the SWIG auto generated wrapper cxx file around every doEventLoop() function call. But now, I want to do the same (i.e. allow threads) when SWIG generates the code itself and not to change any code manually. Has anyone done something similar in SWIG? P.S. - I would also consider switching to any other framework (like SIP) to get this working. I selected SWIG over any other technology is because writing SWIG interface was really very easy and I just had to include the existing header files.

• Can a CLSID be different for the same program installed on two different machines?

  I am using comtypes to generate wrappers for a certain com library. I am having certain issues with a few things, that are not being generated properly. I can get around this by doing the missing work, manually. However can i depend on the fact that CLSID's will not change? Lets say: I install a program with the com library Foo 1.0, now i install the exact same version of that program on another PC, will the CLSID's of the interfaces change? This might be a terribly dumb question.

• stumped by WSGI module import errors

  Hi, I'm writing a bare bones Python wsgi application and am getting stumped by module import errors. I have a .py file in the current directory which initially failed to import. By adding sys.path.insert(0, '/Users/guhar/Sites/acom') the import of the module worked. But I now try and import a module that I had installed via easy_install and it fails to import. I tried setting sys.path.insert(0, '/Library/Python/2.5/site-packages/') which contains the egg file, but to no avail. I would've thought that all packages under "/Library/Python/2.5/site-packages/" would be available to a WSGI application. Does anybody have any pointers?

We can now find StorageClient methods in Microsoft.WindowsAzure.StorageClient.  CloudStorageAccount (which replaces the StorageAccountInfo from July CTP. 2. The basic interface for RoleEntryPoint (from which we inherit our Web Role and WorkerRole) has been changed in Nov CTP. Now we have 3 new methods called OnStart (), OnStop () and Run (). • Linking to libcrypto for Leopard?

  Hi I am using Mac OS X 10.6 SDK and my deployment target is set to Mac OS 10.5. I'm linking to libcrypto (AquaticPrime requires this) and found out that my app doesn't launch on Leopard. The error is dyld: Library not loaded: /usr/lib/libcrypto.0.9.8.dylib I've tried the following workarounds but none of them work: Linking directly to libcrypto.0.9.7.dylib (the 10.6 SDK refuses to link directly with libcrypto.0.9.7.dylib. Copying the 10.5 SDK's version of libcrypto.0.9.7.dylib to the 10.6 lib directory and try t link with it (this time the link process succeeded but in Leopard the app still tries to lookup the non-existent libcrypto.0.9.8.dylib file and thus won't launch). Copying libcrypto.0.9.7.dylib from a Mac OS X 10.5.8 installation and link with it (the link was successful but the app still looks for libcrypto.0.9.8.dylib). Is there a way to link to this library and still use the 10.6 SDK? Thanks.

  What is the equivalent of Quartz Window Services for Windows and X11? I want to be able to capture individual windows with their decorations, shadows, etc., completely independent from each other. Basically what the Son of Grab example is able to do. http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/samplecode/SonOfGrab/Introduction/Intro.html Also it seems like it's not possible to capture non-top-level windows with QWS in Mac. • Who Knows AppWeb HTTP Server And It's Embedded PHP?

  Hi all, on my search for a fast but comfortable web server I dropped into the homepage of EmbedThis(TM) AppWeb(TM) HTTP server. This one has 2 licencse models, GPLv2 and a commercial one with support. On the first view it looks good: the footprint is not too big, it is fast and it has a lot of configuration otions. The most important thing would be a fast PHP execution using a built-in PHP library. Unfortunately this PHP library doesn't include every option, especially "gettext" which one I need for I18N. My target platform is Linux on an embedded device with an ARM based CPU. Does anybody have experiences with the issues mentioned above? Kind regards, Andi

  I need infoWindow to be opened instead of zooming in map, when clicking on the ClusterMarker. I am using Gmaps util library MarkerClusterer for creating cluster of markers. I tried changing following line in markerclusterer.js ClusterMarker_.prototype = new GOverlay(); with ClusterMarker_.prototype = new GMarker(); so that I can get the openInfoWindow() function in the clustermarker, but that didnt worked out. Got some error. If possible, Please suggest solution so that this can be done with MarkerClusterer. Or else any other library which will be able to do this. Any help will be appreciated.

• iPhone: How to Maintain Original Image Size Thoughout Image Edits

  hi, I am developing an iPhone app that resizes and merges images. I want to select two photos of size 1600x1200 from photo library and then merge both into a single image and save that new image back to the photo library. However, I can't get the right size for the merged image. I take two image views of frame 320x480 and set the view's image to my imported images. After manipulating the images (zooming, cropping, rotating), I then save the image to album. When I check the image size it shows 600x800. How do I get the original size of 1600*1200? I've been stuck on this problem from two weeks! Thanks in advance.

• IIS Not Accepting Login Credentials

  I have an ASP.NET web form using Microsoft's boilerplate Active Directory login page, set up exactly as suggested. (See http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms180890%28v=vs.80%29.aspx) Windows Authentication is activated on the "Default Website" and "MyWebsite" levels, and Domain\This.User is given "Allow" access to the site. After entering the valid credentials for This.User on the web form, a popup window appears asking me to enter my credentials yet again. Despite entering valid credentials for This.User (after attempting Domain\This.User and This.User formats), it rejects the credentials and returns an unauthorized user page. Active Directory user This.User is valid, the IP address of the AD server has been verified and SPN's have been set up for the server. Any thoughts as to what may be causing this? I can post code if needed.
