• PHP: How to read email attachment

  What I have: A person daily send to me an email, which has a zip'ed XML attachment. What I do: I save that attachment, unpack it and import via XML importerer to my web site. What I need: Automatic script, what I can automatically forward my email to ex.: [email protected] and read that attachment via some php file in my website, which maybe will be activated daily via server cronjob. Is it possible to code this? And maybe someone has any pre-coded scripts. Thanks for answers.

Example: I have this: /html/body/table/tbody/tr[2]/td[2]/table/tbody/tr/td/table[3]/tbody/tr/td/table/tbody/tr[3]/td/table/tbody/tr[4]/td[5]/span What's that PHP function to get the text of that element?! • Any way to chunk gzip with Apache and PHP

  I have a web application on a site that takes a while (~10 seconds) to complete a portion of the page near the bottom - it has been as optimized as it can be, and caching is not an option. We have compression enabled on the server via an .htaccess directive SetOutputFilter DEFLATE the problem is this causes the whole page to be held until completion before it starts outputting to the user, this is not optimal as the user sees nothing until the page completes. I have also tried it via the php ob_start("ob_gzhandler"); method. Currently I have a <FilesMatch > in my .htaccess restricting this specific script from being compressed. Basically my question is this - Is there a way to say chunk gzip or deflate so that the user gets it in pieces, so they can see that the page has begun loading?

• PHP - white screen of death!

  Hi everyone, After debugging a codeigniter app that were installed into a new development environment, I have started to freak out when seeing white screens with nothing more available. I have been able to solve each and every one of the errors that have caused this, but it have taken seriously way too long time. PHP error_reporting(E_ALL) & display_errors", 1 is set as well. I even installed Xdebug in hope of getting more output, but no. My logging settings are also working, but nothing is written to the log. Is there a way to get something informative printed out instead of a complete white screen? It would certainly shorten my time spent on solving the eventual errors that causes this? Thanks a lot! • Open browser window with formed URL after posting a PHP form

  So here's the question. I have this php form that collects some data, after posting the data gets parsed an URL is constructed. After this URL is constructed, I'd like to open a new browser window for the user with this newly constructed URL. How can I actually accomplish this? Is this something that can only be done with javascript? If so... How? I already have the code in place and i've tested it works that construct the URL after posting the form, now it's just a matter of opening a new window with the URL.

• Integrating Incoming Email Into a php/mysql App

  I am looking to create an incoming email daemon switchboard that I can integrate with various remote php/mysql apps. Ideally I want to check the 'to' address to see if it is in a mysql database and if it is, have the email parsed and posted via CURL to a target destination as well as have attachments saved somewhere locally. I will likely set up a rackspace cloud server dedicated to this task (just accepting emails and posting to 3rd party APIs). However, I do not know where to start. Which server platform / distribution should I go with? Which software needs to be customized, etc?

• Redirecting a large number of URLs with htaccess or php header

  I have undergone a major website overhaul and now have 5,000+ incoming links from search engines and external sites, bookmark services etc that lead to dead pages or 404 errors. A lot of the pages have corresponding "permalinks" or known replacement hierarchy/URL structure. I've started to list the main redirects with htaccess or physical files with simply a header location reidrect which is clearly not sustainable! What would be the best method to list all of the old link addresses and their corresponding new addresses with htaccess, php headers, mysql, sitemap file or is it better to have all broken links and wait for search engines etc to re-index my site? Are there any implications for having a large number of redirecting files for this temporary period until links are reset?

Instead of storing the private key, is it a good idea to require users to enter the private key any time they need a password decrypted? • FastCGI, PHP, Sendmail, and Codeigniter

  Hi Everyone. I am experiencing an odd issue. I just switched to FastCGI (Apache) because of the big performance boost. Everything is working great, except when I attempt to use sendmail (Codeigniter Class or just raw PHP). I have tested with and without CI and still get a 500 internal server error when trying to send. Could this be getting caused by a discrepency in how FastCGI utilizes sendmail? Has anyone else experienced this issue? Also, the email will send, it just errors afterwards. Please let me know a solution if you have one! Thanks! :)

• php require class call from inside method

  from my understanding, require pastes code into the calling php file. what if you were requiring from inside a method...it would paste the entire code/class inside the method, blocking the next statement in the method. eg. function test() { require 'pathtosomeclasscode'; somestatement; // any code after the require is blocked. } how do i get around this, to be able to require code where-ever, without it being pasted in that exact spot? I begin with creating a string like this: $sql="DELIMITER $$ CREATE EVENT `$test_name` ON SCHEDULE EVERY $time1 $sched2 STARTS '$start_date $start_time' DO BEGIN "; $sql .="INSERT INTO blah (foo,bar); "; $sql .="END$$ DELIMITER ;" mysql_query($sql,$dbh); But I keep getting Syntax Errors starting with DELIMITER $$ CREATE EVENT. Without the semicolon behind (foo,bar); the event triggers with a unexecuted payload. Any ideas on where I'm going wrong? Thanks!

• Help with regex pulling XML data from response body in PHP

  I am working on a project that pulls data from JMS queue using PHP and Zend Framework. The HTTP client response is below. All I need is the XML string. I came up with /(.*)<\/RequestDetails/gs which tests ok on http://gskinner.com/RegExr/ but the preg_match call is returning an empty matches array. • php date() stuck

  I am getting the date from my mysql database and that date is correct but when I use the date() function the minute part is stuck a 6 minutes. My mysql is returning 2010-06-15 09:59:18 Then in php I use this code: date('M d,Y H:m A',strtotime($row[4])) ** $row[4] is from my while loop ** When I echo this out I get: Jun 15,2010 9:06 AM I also have tried converting it to unix timestamp in my sql query, does the same thing. I noticed that the hours work and the seconds work but the minutes are stuck at 6. Does anyone have any ideas on what is going on?

• php $_POST array empty upon form submission...

  Hi folks, I'm baffled on this after much googling. This issue is simple, I have a custom CMS i've built that works perfectly on my dev box (Ubuntu/PHP5+/MySQL5+). I just moved it up to the production box for my client and now all form submissions are showing up as empty $_POST arrays. I found a trick to verify the data is actually being passed using "file_get_contents('php://input');" and the data is showing up fine there -- the $_POST/$_REQUEST arrays are always empty. I've also verified the content-type headers are correct as well via firebug (application/x-www-form-urlencoded; charset=utf-8). This issue is happening regardless of whether a form is submitting via AJAX or a regular form submit. Any help is greatly appreciated!

  I can't seem to get the function connection_aborted to work with nginx. The code I used to test is as follow: <?php ignore_user_abort(true); ob_implicit_flush(); $i = 0; while (!connection_aborted()) { echo $i; $i++; sleep(1); } file_put_contents('test',$i); In Apache, it works correctly, although it delays a little. i.e. When I press stop button on browser when "3", the 'test' file shows "8". That is an acceptable margin, but on nginx, it doesn't seem to output anything to the 'test' file.

• Baffled by PHP escaping of double-quotes in HTML forms

  I have a simple PHP script I use to front-end an SQLite database. It's nothing fancy or complex. But I have noticed from looking at the records in the database that anything I enter in a form-field with double-quotes comes across in the form-processing as though I'd escaped the quotes with a backslash. So when I entered a record with the title: British Light Utility Car 10HP "Tilly" what shows up in the database is: British Light Utility Car 10HP \"Tilly\" I don't know where these are coming from, and what's worse, even using the following preg_replace doesn't seem to remove them: $name = preg_replace('/\\"/', '"', $_REQUEST['kits_name']); If I dump out $name, it still bears the unwanted \ characters.

• Template approach for a PHP application

  Hi everyone, We're in the middle of making a new e-commerce related PHP application and we have come to the point where we have started to think about how we should solve templating for our customers needs. What we would like to do is offer our customers the possibility of uploading/modifying templates to suit their company:s profile. The initial thought is that we shall not reinvent the wheel, so instead letting our customers upload their templates with FTP, so there will be basic HTML skills required. For those customers that want to modify/customize template and doesnt have the knowledge, we offer that service as well. I know that there's a number of issues to solve before this could be considered safe, like preventing XSS and writing scripts that check through each uploaded file for potential security threats and so on. Of course, there are some part that probably will be to complex for the customer to modify by themselves, so maybe this approach won't apply to all<< template files in the frontend application. But besides that, what would be a good way to handle this?

• Security when writing a PHP webservice?

  I am writing a web service in PHP for the first time and had ran into some security problems. 1) I am planning to hash passwords using md5() before I write them to the database (or to authenticate the user) but I realize that to do that, I would have to transmit the password in plaintext to the server and hash it there. Because of this I thought of md5()ing it with javascript client side and then rehashing on the server but then if javascript is disabled, then the user can't login, right? 2) I have heard that anything that when the action is readonly, you should use GET but if it modifies the database, you should use POST. Isn't post just as transparent as GET, just not in the address bar?
