• Advice on career change [on hold]

  I am a software developer(sharepoint developer) with total 3 years of experience.Though using out of the box sharepoint excites me, i have aversion to code. i kinda cant put my brains in coding. i have my eyes on MBA now(only reason is to get rid of code). I wanted to rethink on this and need your expert advice and suggestions. As i am working currently in a hot skill(sharepoint 2013) technology, is it a good thought to go ahead and do MBA and change my career, or should i start liking what i do?? • Dell b1160w not working in 14.04

  I originally installed the dell b1160w printer on ubuntu 12.04. It worked as expected. A few months ago I upgraded to ubuntu 14.04 and now I can't get the printer to work. I looked at the driver information on the dell site. They have not updated their driver since 2013 so 12.04 is the latest version with a supported driver. Is there a work around for this problem, like a generic driver that I can use or a way to install whatever printer interface ubuntu 12.04 was using? I have a windows virtual box. I can get it to work through there, but it's inconvenient to pull up my virtual box and transfer the files over to it anytime I want to print.

The book that I use for Java was published in the year 2011. In 2012, Java8 will be released followed by Java9 in the year 2013.   Oracle Master Data Management had a great showing at OOW 2012 ! Special thanks to our customers and partners for presenting with us, sharing their use cases and successes as well as co-sponsoring events.  Almost every session at the show featured a customer and the tremendous success or transformation Oracle MDM resulted in at their organization.  At the DemoGrounds, Oracle MDM saw tremendous interest with many individuals enquiring to see demos, and have their technical questions answered.  The demos provided a perfect opportunity to showcase technical enhancements as well as what features are on the horizon.The MDM customer appreciation dinner event was a smashing success as cusotmers and partners enjoyed a spectacular water view, fine dining and cocktails and one of San Francisco's finest restaurants - The Water Bar.  In a short while the planning for next year's OpenWorld will be under full swing and we can't wait to get started.  See you at OOW 2013!!

• Calendar icon in unity shows wrong date

  There is a column of icons in unity on the far left and one of them has the number "31" in big numerals. If you mouse over it it says "Google Calendar" and if you click on it you get google calendar which of course shows the correct date. Today is November 3. Shouldn't it say "3" instead? If I type "date" from the command line I get Sun Nov 3 21:19:37 GMT 2013 I see this was fixed for Chrome at least in 2011 http://gmailblog.blogspot.co.uk/2011/04/5-years-of-google-calendar-and-new.html .

  My blog has been quiet for quite a while. My inspiration comes from crunching/exchanging information which I should do more often. Gartner analysis tells us that by 2013 mobile phones will overtake PC’s as the most common Web access device worldwide. A few years back I would have said non sense, but apparently most Web users are comfortable with less processing power. Just take a look at the increasing business in Netbooks. Wouldn’t it be great to have a mobile phone which can connect wirelessly to my home TV, monitor, car display, mouse, keyboard, etc? And to have the processing power of the current Netbook generation? Where can I buy it? Why are we making our PC devices (for instance the slate) smaller while we can make our mobile device’s functionality bigger? What about the single responsibility principle? Does it apply to physical devices as well as good object-oriented software?

• Problems with Ranking when Using Sourcing Rules And ASLs From Blanket Agreements?

  Are you using Sourcing Rules and Approved Supplier List with Blanket Purchase Agreements (BPA) and it seems like Ranking is not working correctly? For example:  The Sourcing Rule being used, has effective dates from 01-APR to 31-MAR for 2013, 2014 and 2015. One BPA is defined for Supplier A, which was originally set to Rank 1 with 100% allocation. A new BPA was created for the same item and with same effective dates as the current BPA. The BPA is for a different Supplier. When Generate Sourcing Rules is run it adds the new BPA/Supplier to the Sourcing rule, but its added as Rank 1, with the old rule changed to Rank 2.
