• Include not functioning like I am expecting

  The below gives me a fatal error saying that "mymail" was not found. Any ideas why? Looks right to me. mailreq.php include("mail.php"); $r = mymail("test","test"); mail.php function mymail($body, $reqtype) { //blah blah } EDIT: For some reason, this version of php doesn't see <? ?> as valid shorthand tags. I changed it to <?php ?> and it sees the functions now.

• xml parsing takes extra spaces.

  I have been trying to write/parse xml file in python. The tags are very simple <main> <data> abcdef </data> </main> I have written this xml using xml document writer from xml.dom.minidom. How-ever when i try to parse this and try to fetch data-text value, i get 'abcdef' with spaces/carriage return/newline characters in beg and end. Does parsing does not take of indenting spaces? Following is the parsing snippet (ref from net) dom = parseString(data) clipTag = dom.getElementsByTagName('clipdata')[0].toxml() clipData=clipTag.replace('<clipdata>','').replace('</clipdata>','') Kindly suggest.

• Javascript is freezing the browser when running this code

  I am trying to get the value of a text input and check if there is any links in it and then take those links and make them into tags. But when I run this code, something is going wrong and it completely freezes the page. Basically, I want it to check for "http://" and if that exists, to keep on adding to the substr length until the end of the string/link. • Vim's autocomplete is excruciatingly slow

  Most of the time the autocomplete feature in VIM works nicely for me, but sometimes it seems to be scanning files which the current file references, and then it becomes painfully slow, sometimes taking several seconds to release focus back to me. Sometimes VIM tells me simply that it is "Scanning" other times, it's saying "Scanning tags" I've only this happen in Ruby files, and it happens mostly when there is a require in the file. My guess would be that this is some kind of feature which checks related files for autocomplete options, but I don't really need that, and would prefer quicker autocomplete.

This is is the best document I have found so far, but I believe it is is incomplete. The W3 specs are even worse, all it says is "This attribute may be used with most elements.". All browsers have their own quarks, if you know of a document for a specific browser like Firefox or IE that would also be helpful.

  I have the following model classes... class Image < ActiveRecord::Base attr_accessible :description, :title has_many :imageTags has_many :tags, :through => :imageTags end class Tag < ActiveRecord::Base attr_accessible :name has_many :imageTags has_many :images, :through => :imageTags end class ImageTag < ActiveRecord::Base attr_accessible :position belongs_to :image belongs_to :tag end And when I use find for getting the Tag with the id 1 t = Tag.find(1); @images = t.images; But when I do the same with where, I get a NoMethodError, with the description undefined method 'images': t = Tag.where(:name => "foo"); @images = t.images; I also tried adding .includes(:images) before the .where statement, but that doesn't work too. So, how can I get all Images that belong to a Tag?

  Using jQuery to create new DOM elements from text. Example: jQuery('<div><img src="/some_image.gif"></img></div>'); When this statement is executed, it causes the browser to request the file 'some_img.gif' from the server. Is there a way to execute this statement so that the resulting jQuery object can be used from DOM traversal, but not actually cause the browser to hit the server with requests for images and other referenced content? Example: var jquery_elememnts = jQuery('<div><img class="a_class" src="/some_image.gif"></img></div>'); var img_class = jquery_elememnts.find('img').attr('class'); The only idea I have now is to use regex to remove all of the 'src' tags from image elements and other things that will trigger the browser requests before using jQuery to evaluate the HTML. How can jQuery be used to evaluate HTML without triggering the browser to make requests to the server for referenced content inside the evaluated HTML? Thanks!

  I've always tried to specify the height and width attributes for img tags in HTML. Not for style reasons, but because the browser then expects the size of the image and can do page layout even before the image has finished downloading. From the HTML spec: The height and width attributes give user agents an idea of the size of an image or object so that they may reserve space for it and continue rendering the document while waiting for the image data. I don't know why this has never occurred to me, but does specifying height and width in CSS, rather than inside the img tag, do the same thing?

• Is it possible to append html code in parts via JQuery?

  I am trying to append li elements coming from a php file with JQuery. Problem is that the html code needs to be seperately appended to different html IDs according to the key value. Unfortunately as I understood append() can only append correct html with all elements closed. Otherwise it will automatically close the tags. The following code will NOT work as dval contains code like <div><li class="some">Some value</li> and append() will make <div><li class="some">Some value</li></div> out of it. • "Cannot find the declaration of element 'beans'. at mvc-dispatcher-servlet.xml", but can when I copy, delete and re-paste?

  Running Maven, Eclipse, and Weblogic, when I try to Run As Server onto my local server, I get this error: "Cannot find the declaration of element 'beans'. at mvc-dispatcher-servlet.xml" Then, when I go back into the xml, select all, copy, delete, and paste, error goes away and I'm able to run the web app just fine on the server.   I'm building a site with a hashchange on wordpress, all working good. It just loads a single.php template file into a div. The problem is that i can still access my single url (http://www.mydomain.com/my-single-post). Since its not having any head and style tags with it, i don't want people to go over there. Also google has picked up the direct links, because I use the href attribute to load content into the div. So my question is: If someone clicks a link lets say in a forum, http://www.mydomain.com/my-single-post , is it possible to redirect him instantly to http://www.mydomain.com/#my-single-post ? I have researched that it has something to do with .htaccess, but I also have Pages, where i don't want the hash infront of the page-name.

  I'm using custom tags to define sections in an application, so I have something like this: <mysection> <form> <input name="myfield"> </form> </mysection> I'm using the following and able to get the tag (printed to console, everything is groovy) var parent = document.getElementsByTagName('mysection'); The issue I'm having is finding the child field by name: var myfield = parent.getElementsByName("myfield"); ...as I don't want to pick up on any other 'sections' that might have an input with the name 'myfield'. EDIT: var parent = document.getElementsByTagName('mysection')[0]; was suggested and returns to console the section contents, however, getElementsByName throws an error: Uncaught TypeError: Object #<NodeList> has no method 'getElementsByName'

  I know that I can do this in Rails: <%="hello" %> but is there any way to do this <% echo "hello" %> and get it to show up in the response? I have tried response.write which almost worked, but did not... Edit: print or puts do not do it, because I do not want to write to the console. I want to write to the browser/HTTP client. Edit: Here is an example: <% unless @research_activities.size == 0 concat(render(:partial => 'list')) end %> Why would I want to include two closing tags just to do that? It reads nicely in code, doesn't it?

• What does a mercurial revision with no parent mean?

  I have a Mercurial repository that is in a strange state now. This is what it looks like in TortoiseHG: I didn't think this would be possible. Revision 54 has a parent of "-1 (000000000000)" (i.e. nothing). There's clearly something I don't understand yet about Mercurial, can anyone let me know what this means - and what must have happened for it to get into this state. As far as I know, it's only had stuff pushed and pulled from it - and nobody has been using any wacky extensions. Revisions 54 and 55 were just adding tags, but if I 'update -C' to revision 54 I end up with ONLY the .hgtags file. I've made a clone from revision 53 to fix this. But I'd rather understand what happened here, so I can avoid it happening again.

• Create div tag template and reuse

  Is it possible to create a template e.g with lots of other elements inside it with proper attribute "tagging" and reuse it with jquery? For instance when you want to display user submitted comments without refreshing the page. The reason I ask this is because the code between the div tags are rather long. So using for instance prepend() would be to long to rewrite. Whats the best approach for larger manipulations? Create a separate html? Im pretty new to manipulation, but since I have a programming background i would expect that there is an efficient way to reuse already existing HTML instead of redefining it in jquery.

I'm using it as a portable personal "knowledge manager," and these are the prize virtues: It travels on my USB flash memory stick and runs on any computer, regardless of operating system No software installation is needed on the computer (TiddlyWiki merely uses the Internet browser) No Internet connection is needed In terms of data retrieval functionality, it mimics a relational database (use of tags and internal links) Let's say I've got a million words of prose in 4,000 tiddlers (posts). I'm still testing, but it looks like TiddlyWiki gets very slow. Is there an app like TiddlyWiki that keeps all the virtues I listed above, and allows more storage? NOTE: Separation of content and presentation would be ideal. It's nifty that TiddlyWiki has everything in a single HTML document, but it's unhelpful in many ways. I don't care if a directory of assorted docs is needed (SQLite, XML?), as long as it's functionally self-contained.

  I have a apache server that sits in front of my glassfish server. mydomain.com goes directly to my static files on apache, than if you hit the subdomain forum.mydomain.com it goes to the glassfish webapp forum/ at 127.0.0.1:8080/forum/. This proxy seems to work it takes me to the web app but all of the images are missing! Here is how I go my virtual host setup. • Why would a PCI scan fail because of components that are not even installed?

  Recently a PCI scan was run against a web server and the result was a failure. Some of the issues could be fixed, however others simply make no sense to me. The machine was a clean install, there are only two things running, the .NET 3.5 website and the dotDefender web application firewall. However there are several errors similar to: Web server vulnerability Impact: /servlet/SessionServlet: JRun or Netware WebSphere default servlet found. All default code should be removed from servers. Risk Factor: Medium/ CVSS2 Base Score: 6.4 CVE: CVE-2000-0539 I'm not sure what this is, but I can't find anything on the server that looks anything like this. Web server vulnerability Impact: /some.php?=PHPE9568F35- D428-11d2-A769-00AA001ACF42: PHP reveals potentially sensitive information via certain HTTP requests that contain specific QUERY strings. Risk Factor: Medium/ CVSS2 Base Score: 5.0 PHP is not installed. Trying to add that query string to any page does nothing because the application ignores it. And doing that phpVersion check results in a 404. Similar to this, there are dozens of errors related to JSP and Oracle that are also not installed. Web server vulnerability Impact: /admin/database/wwForum.mdb: Web Wiz Forums pre 7.5 is vulnerable to Cross-Site Scripting attacks. Default login/pass is Administrator/letmein Risk Factor: Medium/ CVSS2 Base Score: 4.0 There are several errors like this, telling me that Web Wiz Forums, Alan Ward A-Cart 2.0, IlohaMail, etc. are all vulnerable. These are not installed or referenced anywhere I can find. There are even references to pages that simply don't exist, like OpenAutoClassifieds. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to why these errors are showing up or where I might look to find these components if they are in fact installed? Note: This website and server are for a subdomain of the main website. The main website runs on a server that is running Apache/PHP, but I don't have access to that server. The report says the subdomain was the site being scanned, but is it possible for it to have scanned the main site as well?
