  • Postsharp installer bug: .Net 2.0 not presented

    There is an issue with PostSharp 1.5 and 2.0 that won't let you install it on the Windows 7 machine with the error message ".NET Framework 2.0 is not present on this computer". To work around the issue you have to run the installer while being logged in with Administrator account. Not Admin group and not "run as Administrator", you have to be logged in with the Administrator account. Hope that helps, if someone has the same issue.

    I have to start a new project where user authentication/management will be required. A lot of websites use existing authentication mechanisms like facebook/twitter/openID/google/etc (even SO). While I might understand that they are used to simplify some parts of this workflow can someone enumerate the pluses and minuses of using one of these authentication mechanisms vs. an usual user creation and what should I look for when I do this?   • What is the correct way to create a single instance application?

    Using C# and WPF under .net (rather than WindowsForms or console), what is the correct way to create an application that can only be run as a single instance? I know it has something to do with some mythical thing called a mutex, rarely can I find someone that bothers to stop and explain what one of these are. The code needs to also inform the already running instance that the user tried to start a second one, and maybe also pass any command line arguments if any existed.

    I want to call this guy -(void)addFavorite:(NSString *)favoriteToAdd at, @selector here action:@selector([addFavorite favoriteToAdd:@"string"])]; But I keep getting syntax error no matter which way I write it. Can someone point out the appropriate way to call this function? When it had no parameter and was "addFavorite," it worked fine.

    I'm being an idiot. Someone cut and pasted some text from microsoft word into my lovely html files. I now have these unicode characters instead of regular quote symbols, (i.e. quotes appear as <92 in the text) I want to do a regex replace but I'm having trouble selecting them. :%s/\u92/'/g :%s/\u5C/'/g :%s/\x92/'/g :%s/\x5C/'/g ...all fail. My google-fu has failed me.
