  • Add incremental numbers at the end of a string in a loop in Javascript.

    - by Kyle Sevenoaks
    This Javascript is part of a Foreach loop. var stickytooltip={ tooltipoffsets: [20, -30], //additional x and y offset from mouse cursor for tooltips fadeinspeed: 200, //duration of fade effect in milliseconds rightclickstick: false, //sticky tooltip when user right clicks over the triggering element (apart from pressing "s" key) ? stickybordercolors: ["#0a5692", "#0a5692"], //border color of tooltip depending on sticky state stickynotice: ["Press \"s\"", "or right click", "to sticky box"], //customize tooltip status message stickynotice2: "Click outside this box to hide it", //customize tooltip status message //***** NO NEED TO EDIT BEYOND HERE isdocked: false, positiontooltip:function($, $tooltip, e){ var x=e.pageX+this.tooltipoffsets[0], y=e.pageY+this.tooltipoffsets[1] var tipw=$tooltip.outerWidth(), tiph=$tooltip.outerHeight(), x=(x+tipw>$(document).scrollLeft()+$(window).width())? x-tipw-(stickytooltip.tooltipoffsets[0]*2) : x y=(y+tiph>$(document).scrollTop()+$(window).height())? $(document).scrollTop()+$(window).height()-tiph-10 : y $tooltip.css({left:x, top:y}) }, showbox:function($, $tooltip, e){ $tooltip.fadeIn(this.fadeinspeed) this.positiontooltip($, $tooltip, e) }, hidebox:function($, $tooltip){ if (!this.isdocked){ $tooltip.stop(false, true).hide() $tooltip.css({borderColor:'black'}).find('.stickystatus:eq(0)').css({background:this.stickybordercolors[0]}).html(this.stickynotice) } }, docktooltip:function($, $tooltip, e){ this.isdocked=true $tooltip.css({borderColor:'darkred'}).find('.stickystatus:eq(0)').css({background:this.stickybordercolors[1]}).html(this.stickynotice) }, init:function(targetselector, tipid){ jQuery(document).ready(function($){ var $targets=$(targetselector) var $tooltip=$('#'+tipid).appendTo(document.body) if ($targets.length==0) return var $alltips=$tooltip.find('div.atip') if (!stickytooltip.rightclickstick) stickytooltip.stickynotice[1]='' stickytooltip.stickynotice=stickytooltip.stickynotice.join(' ') stickytooltip.hidebox($, $tooltip) $targets.bind('mouseenter', function(e){ $alltips.hide().filter('#'+$(this).attr('data-tooltip')).show() stickytooltip.showbox($, $tooltip, e) }) $targets.bind('mouseleave', function(e){ stickytooltip.hidebox($, $tooltip) }) $targets.bind('mousemove', function(e){ if (!stickytooltip.isdocked){ stickytooltip.positiontooltip($, $tooltip, e) } }) $tooltip.bind("mouseenter", function(){ stickytooltip.hidebox($, $tooltip) }) $tooltip.bind("click", function(e){ e.stopPropagation() }) $(this).bind("click", function(e){ if (e.button==0){ stickytooltip.isdocked=false stickytooltip.hidebox($, $tooltip) } }) $(this).bind("contextmenu", function(e){ if (stickytooltip.rightclickstick && $(e.target).parents().andSelf().filter(targetselector).length==1){ //if oncontextmenu over a target element stickytooltip.docktooltip($, $tooltip, e) return false } }) $(this).bind('keypress', function(e){ var keyunicode=e.charCode || e.keyCode if (keyunicode==115){ //if "s" key was pressed stickytooltip.docktooltip($, $tooltip, e) } }) }) //end dom ready } } //stickytooltip.init("targetElementSelector", "tooltipcontainer") stickytooltip.init("*[data-tooltip]", "mystickytooltip") I need to just add some code to the end of "mystickytooltip" to add 1, 2, 3, 4 each time it loops.   • JavaScript: Is there a way to get Chrome to break on all errors?

    - by Alessandro Vernet
    I am looking for an equivalent in Chrome to the "break on all errors" functionality of Firebug. In the Scripts tab, Chrome has a "pause on all exceptions", but this is not quite the same as breaking on all errors. For instance, when loading a page with the following code, I would like Chrome to break on the line foo.bar = 42. Instead, even when enabling the "Pause on all exceptions", I don't get the expected result. <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en"> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> function doError() { foo.bar = 42; } window.onload = function() { try { doError(); } catch (e) { console.log("Error", e); } } </script> </head> <body> </body> </html> You can try the code pasted above on this page.

  • IE7 - visited links revert to unvisted after page refresh

    - by Gerald
    Hello, A number of our users have just upgraded from IE6 to IE7. the upgreaded users are reporting an issue with visited links reverting to their unvisited color after a page refresh. This only happens to links that are using javascript instead of a hard coded URL: <script lang="JavaScript"> <!-- function LoadGoogle() { var LoadGoogle = window.open('http://www.google.com'); } --> </script> <a href="javascript:LoadGoogle()">Google using javascript</a> <a href="#" OnClick="javascript:LoadGoogle()">Google using javascript OnClick</a> The above links will revert back to the unvisited color whenever the page is refreshed. It doesn't matter if the page is refreshed because of a post back, manually hitting the refresh or f5 button, or from an auto-refresh function. Please note, the above code is an over simplification of what is actually happening, but I believe it illustrates the issue well enough. This is causing a problem for our users because we are providing them with a list of items that are all opened into new windows via javascript when they are clicked; and refresh the parent page when the users are finished with them. Each time the parent page is refreshed all of these links revert back to their unvisited color, so our users are losing track of which items they've worked on. I've been digging around and it looks like this is intended behavior. IE7 doesn't register these links with the browsers history. Does anyone know a work around that will allow us to keep these javascript links in the visited state without having to do a major overhaul of the apps code? Thank you.

  • Why would javascript click-areas not be working in IE8?

    - by Edward Tanguay
    I'm trying to find a bug in an old ASP.NET application which causes IE8 to not be able to click on the following "button" area in our application: <td width="150px" class="ctl00_CP1_UiCommandManager1i toolBarItem" valign="middle" onmouseout="onMouseOverCommand(this,1,'ctl00_CP1_UiCommandManager1',0,0);" onmouseover="onMouseOverCommand(this,0,'ctl00_CP1_UiCommandManager1',0,0);" onmousedown="onMouseDownCommand(this, 'ctl00_CP1_UiCommandManager1', 0, 0);" onmouseup="onMouseUpCommand(this, 'ctl00_CP1_UiCommandManager1', 0, 0);" id="ctl00_CP1_UiCommandManager1_0_0"> <span style="width:100%;overflow:hidden;text-overflow:ellipsis;vertical-align:middle;white-space:nowrap;"> NEW </span> </td> When we switch IE8 to IE7 compatibility mode, the problem disappears, IE7 is able to click on it. Since the above HTML is generated by a third party control (Janus, http://www.janusys.com/controls), we don't have the source code. has anyone experienced any similar problems with IE8? I've determined that it actually fires the onMouseDownCommand command also the CSS of the button area is different in IE8, it doesn't have color shading that it does in IE7. I can imagine that somewhere the HTML is not valid and IE8 being stricter is not playing along, but where? any advice on how to narrow in on this bug welcome ANSWER: Turned out to be that the application was not checking the navigator.agent for "MSIE 8.0" and was thus treating IE8 has a non-Internet-Explorer browser. Thanks Lazarus for the tip, the IE8 Javascript debugger is very nice, like a Firebug for IE, will be using it more!

  • Writing to a new window with javascript... get access denied

    - by Søren
    Hello gurus :) I have been struggling with this for a while now, and decided it was time to ask for help. I am trying to create a print function on an aspx page, and I am using javascript to do this: function PrintContentCell() { var display_setting = "toolbar=yes, location=no, directories=yes, menubar=yes,"; display_setting += "scrollbars=yes, width=750, height=600, left=100, top=25"; var content_innerhtml = document.getElementById("testTable").innerHTML; var document_print = window.open("Loading.htm", "", display_setting); document_print.document.open(); document_print.document.write('<html><head><title>Print</title></head>'); document_print.document.write('<body style="font-family:verdana; font-size:12px;" onLoad="self.print();self.close();" >'); document_print.document.write(content_innerhtml); document_print.document.write('</body></html>'); document_print.print(); document_print.document.close(); return false; } I get "Access Denied" when the script tries to write to the new window. The Loading.htm file is just a very slim html document writing out the text "Loading...". I had hoped this would work after reading this thread: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/735136/ie-6-7-access-denied-trying-to-access-a-popup-window-document Anybody can help?

  • Is Annotation in Javascript? If not, how to switch between debug/productive modes in declarative way

    - by Michael Mao
    Hi all: This is but a curious question. I cannot find any useful links from Google so it might be better to ask the gurus here. The point is: is there a way to make "annotation" in javascript source code so that all code snippets for testing purpose can be 'filtered out' when project is deployed from test field into the real environment? I know in Java, C# or some other languages, you can assign an annotation just above the function name, such as : // it is good to remove the annoying warning messages @SuppressWarnings("unchecked") public class Tester extends TestingPackage { ... } Basically I've got a lot of testing code that prints out something into FireBug console. I don't wanna manually "comment out" them because the guy that is going to maintain the code might not be aware of all the testing functions, so he/she might just miss one function and the whole thing can be brought down to its knees. One other thing, we might use a minimizer to "shrink" the source code into "human unreadable" code and boost up performance (just like jQuery.min), so trying to match testing section out of the mess is not possible for plain human eyes in the future. Any suggestion is much appreciated.

  • How to do a javascript redirection to a ClickOnce deployment URL?

    - by jerem
    I have a ClickOnce application used to view some documents on a website. When connected, the user sees a list of documents as links to http://server/myapp.application?document=docname. It worked fine until I had to integrate the website authentication/security system into my application. The website uses a ticketing system to grant access to its users. A ticket is generated by a web application and needs to be added to the deployment URL querystring, then I have to check at application startup that the ticket given in querystring was right by making another request to the web application. So the deployment URL becomes something like: h ttp://server/myapp.application?document=docname&ticket=ticketnumber. The problem is the ticket is valid only 10 seconds, so I have to get it only after the user has clicked a link. My first try was to have some javascript do the request to get the ticket, generate the proper deployment URL and then redirect the user to this URL with "window.location = deploymentUrl;". It works fine in Firefox, but IE does not prompt the user for installation. I guess it is a ClickOnce security constraints, but I am able to do the redirection when doing it on localhost, so I hope there is a workaround. I have also added the server on the "trusted sites" list in IE options. Is it possible to have that working in IE? What are my other options to do that?

  • Javascript keyup doesn't work as expected, it executes in instances where I have not removed my fing

    - by Binni
    I'm trying to create a simple game in javascript and I'm stuck on how to deal with keys. Small example: function keyUpEvent(event) { alert(event.keyCode); } window.addEventListener("keyup", keyUpEvent, false); I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 and testing it in Firefox 3.5 and Chromium. If I press and release a button instantly I get an alert, which is to be expected, but when I press and hold a button I get a small pause and then a series of alert windows, the expected result is that I only get an alert window when I remove my finger from a button. I reason it has something to do with the fact that when I press and hold a button in a text area for example I get one character, small pause, and then a series of characters: dddddddddddddddd. I believe it's possible to get around this or do it more right or whatever since this game for example: http://bohuco.net/testing/gamequery/pong.html seams not to be affected by this. But I notice if I try out the jquery keyup demo ( api.jquery.com/keyup/ ) I get the same problem. How can I implement basic game key event handling?

  • How do I create a custom text field in Tapestry5 that renders some Javascript onto the page?

    - by shane87
    I have been trying to create a custom textfield in tapestry which will render some javascript when it gains focus. But I have been having trouble trying to find an example of this. Here is some of the code i have started off with: package asc.components; import org.apache.tapestry5.ComponentResources; import org.apache.tapestry5.Field; import org.apache.tapestry5.annotations.Parameter; import org.apache.tapestry5.ioc.annotations.Inject; import org.apache.tapestry5.services.ComponentDefaultProvider; public class DahserTextField implements Field { @Parameter (defaultPrefix = "literal") private String label; @Inject private ComponentResources resources; @Inject private ComponentDefaultProvider defaultProvider; @Parameter private boolean disabled; @Parameter private boolean required; String defaultLabel(){ return defaultProvider.defaultLabel(resources); } public String getControlName() { return null; } public String getLabel() { return label; } public boolean isDisabled() { return disabled; } public boolean isRequired() { return required; } public String getClientId() { return resources.getId(); } } I have been unsure on what to do next. I do not know what to put into the .tml file. I would be grateful if anyone could help or point me in the right direction.

  • Is it necessary to "escape" character "<" and ">" for javascript string?

    - by Morgan Cheng
    Sometimes, server side will generate strings to be embedded in inline JavaScript code. For example, if "UserName" should be generated by ASP.NET. Then it looks like. <script> var username = "<%UserName%>"; </script> This is not safe, because a user can have his/her name to be </script><script>alert('bug')</script></script> It is XSS vulnerability. So, basically, the code should be: <script> var username = "<% JavascriptEncode(UserName)%>"; </script> What JavascriptEncode does is to add charater "\" before "/" and "'" and """. So, the output html is like. var username = "<\/scriptalert(\'bug\')<\/script<\/script"; Browser will not interpret "<\/script" as end of script block. So, XSS in avoided. However, there are still "<" and "" there. It is suggested to escape these two characters as well. First of all, I don't believe it is a good idea to change "<" to "&lt;" and "" to "&gt;" here. And, I'm not sure changing "<" to "\<" and "" to "\" is recognizable to all browsers. It seems it is not necessary to do further encoding for "<" and "". Is there any suggestion on this? Thanks.

  • javascript - How to pass an argument in a function call?

    - by Fernando SBS
    function rp_marcadesmarcaFarm(valor) { FM_log(3, "marcadesmarcaFarm called = "+valor); for (i = 0; i < farmList.length; i++) { var arr = farmList[i].split("|"); var xy = arr[0].split(","); var fvillageId = xy2id(parseInt(xy[0]), parseInt(xy[1])); GM_setValue("farmAtivada_"+suffixLocal+fvillageId, valor); GM_setValue("farmAtivada_"+suffixLocal+i, valor); }; reloadFarmTable(); }; function createLinkButton(text, title, jsFunction, value) { var button = dom.cn("a"); button.href = "javascript:void(0)"; button.innerHTML = text; button.title = title; if (jsFunction != null) { button.addEventListener('click', jsFunction, false); } return button; } createLinkButton("X", T('CHECKFARM_M'), rp_marcadesmarcaFarm(true)); apparently the last argument (rp_marcadesmarcaFarm(true)) when invoking the createLinkButton is not working. If I change to: createLinkButton("X", T('CHECKFARM_M'), rp_marcadesmarcaFarm); it works. So how can I pass the (true) variable to the third argument of createLinkButton?

  • Can I combine two functions into one using Javascript?

    - by Melissa
    I have the following code that I would like to simplify. With javascript and jQuery is there an easy way that I could combine these two functions? Most of the code is the same but I am not sure how I could create a single function that works differently depending on what is clicked. $(document).ready(function () { $('#ListBooks').click(ListBooks); $('#Create').click(Create); }); function Create() { var dataSourceID = $('#DataSourceID').val(); var subjectID = $('#SubjectID').val(); var contentID = $('#ContentID').val(); if (dataSourceID && dataSourceID != '00' && subjectID && subjectID != "00" && contentID && contentID != "00") { var e = encodeURIComponent, arr = ["dataSourceID=" + e(dataSourceID), "subjectID=" + e(subjectID), "contentID=" + e(contentID)]; window.location.href = '/Administration/Books/Create?' + arr.join("&"); } else { alert('Datasource, Subject and Content must be selected.'); } return false; } function ListBooks() { var dataSourceID = $('#DataSourceID').val(); var subjectID = $('#SubjectID').val(); var contentID = $('#ContentID').val(); if (dataSourceID && dataSourceID != '00' && subjectID && subjectID != "00" && contentID && contentID != "00") { var e = encodeURIComponent, arr = ["dataSourceID=" + e(dataSourceID), "subjectID=" + e(subjectID), "contentID=" + e(contentID)]; window.location.href = '/Administration/Books/ListBooks?' + arr.join("&"); } else { alert('Datasource, Subject and Content must be selected.'); } return false; }

  • Javascript force GC collection? / Forcefully free object?

    - by plash
    I have a js function for playing any given sound using the Audio interface (creating a new instance for every call). This works quite well, until about the 32nd call (sometimes less). This issue is directly related to the release of the Audio instance. I know this because I've allowed time for the GC in Chromium to run and it will allow me to play another 32 or so sounds again. Here's an example of what I'm doing: <html><head> <script language="javascript"> function playSound(url) { snd = new Audio(url); snd.play(); delete snd; snd = null; } </script> </head> <body> <a href="#" onclick="playSound('blah.mp3');">Play sound</a> </body></html> I also have this, which works well for pages that have less than 32 playSound calls: var AudioPlayer = { cache: {}, play: function(url) { if (!AudioPlayer.cache[url]) AudioPlayer.cache[url] = new Audio(url); AudioPlayer.cache[url].play(); } }; But this will not work for what I want to do (dynamically replace a div with other content (from separate files), which have even more sounds on them - 1. memory usage would easily skyrocket, 2. many sounds will never play). I need a way to release the sound immediately. Is it possible to do this? I have found no free/close/unload method for the Audio interface. The pages will be viewed locally, so the constant loading of sounds is not a big factor at all (and most sounds are rather short).

  • Discussion - Allowing / blocking user access to pages (Client Side Only!) - Javascript / Jquery

    - by Ozaki
    TLDR Using plain HTML / Javascript (Client Side) I want to prevent viewing of certain pages. The user will have to type a username and password and depending on that they get access to different pages. Answers can NOT include server side whatsoever It does not matter if they can break it easily. There is no sensitive information etc. Also the target audience will not have access to internet OR probably know what a cookie is... At some point the user will have to type username / password.(I can define the cookie here) Currently I thought of using cookies to set a cookie for each page to say "true" / "false" but that would get messy with so many cookies. Or setting an array within a cookie for each page? I have div field "#Content" which as it looks encompasses all of my content on the page so blocking out content will be as simple as replacing it with ("sorry you don't have access") etc. For Example: $.cookie("Access","page1, page2, page3"{ expires: 1 }); I am looking for anyway to do this does not have to be with cookies. Would be nice to get a discussion of different ways this can be done. So the question is: What do YOU think would be a good way to go about doing this with client side validation?

  • How can I use JSONP to download client-side javascript objects?

    - by Alex Mcp
    I'm trying to get client-side javascript objects saved as a file locally. I'm not sure if this is possible. The basic architecture is this: Ping an external API to get back a JSON object Work client-side with that object, and eventually have a "download me" link This link sends the data to my server, which processes it and sends it back with a mime type application/json, which (should) prompt the user to download the file locally. Right now here are my pieces: Server Side Code <?php $data = array('zero', 'one', 'two', 'testing the encoding'); $json = json_encode($data); //$json = json_encode($_GET['']); //eventually I'll encode their data, but I'm testing header("Content-type: application/json"); header('Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="backup.json"'); echo $_GET['callback'] . ' (' . $json . ');'; ?> Relevant Client Side Code $("#download").click(function(){ var json = JSON.stringify(collection); //serializes their object $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "http://www.myURL.com/api.php?callback=?", //this is the above script dataType: "jsonp", contentType: 'jsonp', data: json, success: function(data){ console.log( "Data Received: " + data[3] ); } }); return false; }); Right now when I visit the api.php site with Firefox, it prompts a download of download.json and that results in this text file, as expected: (["zero","one","two","testing the encoding"]); And when I click #download to run the AJAX call, it logs in Firebug Data Received: testing the encoding which is almost what I'd expect. I'm receiving the JSON string and serializing it, which is great. I'm missing two things: The Actual Questions What do I need to do to get the same prompt-to-download behavior that I get when I visit the page in a browser (much simpler) How do I access, server-side, the json object being sent to the server to serialize it? I don't know what index it is in the GET array (silly, I know, but I've tried almost everything)

  • Using javascript to add form fields, but what will the new name be?

    - by user1322844
    After reading this post: using javascript to add form fields.. but below, not to the side? I've made the button work! But I don't know how to receive the output. This is what I entered. var counter = 0; function addNew() { // Get the main Div in which all the other divs will be added var mainContainer = document.getElementById('mainContainer'); // Create a new div for holding text and button input elements var newDiv = document.createElement('div'); // Create a new text input var newText = document.createElement('input'); newText.type = "input"; newText.maxlength = "50"; newText.maxlimit = "50"; newText.size = "60"; newText.value = counter; // Create a new button input var newDelButton = document.createElement('input'); newDelButton.type = "button"; newDelButton.value = "Delete"; // Append new text input to the newDiv newDiv.appendChild(newText); // Append new button input to the newDiv newDiv.appendChild(newDelButton); // Append newDiv input to the mainContainer div mainContainer.appendChild(newDiv); counter++; // Add a handler to button for deleting the newDiv from the mainContainer newDelButton.onclick = function() { mainContainer.removeChild(newDiv); } } </script> With this in the form: <input type="button" size="3" cols="30" value="Add" onClick="addNew()"> So, what will the new field names be? I don't understand enough of the coding to figure out what I'm telling it to. Good thing there are other smart folks out there for me to lean on! Thanks for any answers.

  • How should I progressively enhance this content with JavaScript?

    - by Sean Dunwoody
    The background to this problem is that I'm doing a computing project which involves Some drop down boxes for input, and a text input where the user can input a date. I've used YUI to enhance the form, so the calendar input uses the YUI calendar widget and the drop down list is converted into a horizontal list of inputs where the user only has to click once to select any input as opposed to two clicks with the drop down box (hope that makes sense, not sure how to explain it clearly) The problem is, that in the design section of my project I stated that I would follow the progressive enhancement principles. I am struggling however to ensure that users without JavaScript are able to view the drop down box / text input on said page. This is not because I do not necessarily know how, but the two methods I've tried seem unsatisfactory. Method 1 - I tried using YUI to hide the text box and drop down list, this seemed like the ideal solution however there was quite a noticeable lag when loading the page (especially for the first time), the text box and drop down list where visibile for at least a second. I included the script for this just before the end of the body tag, is there any way that I can run it onload with YUI? Would that help? Method 2 - Use the noscript tag . . . however I am loathed to do this as while it would be a simple solution, I have read various bad things about the noscript tag. Is there a way of making mehtod one work? Or is there a better way of doing this that I am yet to encounter?

  • Elements added later All images and text loaded to function. (jQuery or Javascript)

    - by Tayatt
    #clickArea click to #contents prepend #loadingText(Loading...) and #contents append HTML-source. If append HTML-source(All images and text) Load complete to #loadingText(Loading...) is fadeOut. The code that it is the best in this case? HTML <div id="contents"> <p id="clickArea">Click</p> </div> JavaScript(jQuery) $('p#clickArea').click(function(){ $('div#contents').prepend('<p id="loadingText">Loading...</p>'); $('div#contents').append('<div><p class="image"><img src="bigSizeImage01.jpg" alt="" /></p><p class="image"><img src="bigSizeImage02.jpg" alt="" /></p><p class="image"><img src="bigSizeImage03.jpg" alt="" /></p><p class="text">Hello, this is text.</p><p class="text">Hello, this is text.</p></div>'); $('**********').load( function(){ $('#loadingText').fadeOut(1200); } ); }); Supplement : $('div#contents').append(HTML-source) <div> <p class="image"><img src="bigSizeImage01.jpg" alt="" /></p> <p class="image"><img src="bigSizeImage02.jpg" alt="" /></p> <p class="image"><img src="bigSizeImage03.jpg" alt="" /></p> <p class="text">Hello, this is text.</p> <p class="text">Hello, this is text.</p> </div>

  • Firefox extension: How to inject javascript into page and run it?

    - by el griz
    I'm writing a Firefox extension to allow users to annotate any page with text and/or drawings and then save an image of the page including the annotations. Use cases would be clients reviewing web pages, adding feedback to the page, saving the image of this and emailing it back to the web developer or testers taking annotated screenshots of GUI bugs etc. I wrote the annotation/drawing functionality in javascript before developing the extension. This script adds a <canvas> element to the page to draw upon as well as a toolbar (in a <div>) that contains buttons (each <canvas> elements) for the different draw tools e.g. line, box, ellipse, text, etc. This works fine when manually included in a page. I now need a way for the extension to: Inject this script into any page including pages I don't control. This needs to occur when the user invokes the extension, which can be after the page has loaded. Once injected the init() function in this script that adds the canvas and toolbar elements etc. needs to be run somehow, but I can't determine how to call this from the extension. Note that once injected I don't need this script to interact with the extension (as the extension just takes a screenshot of the entire document (and removes the added page elements) when the user presses the save button in the extension chrome).
