  • Why won't my AJAX controls work? (and ajax for .net 4 not working?)

    I'm totally new to ajax. I'm using VS2005. I just downloaded .NET framework 4 and so then I downloaded ajaxcontroltoolkit.binary.net4 via [http://ajaxcontroltoolkit.codeplex.com/releases/view/43475] (as opposed to ajaxcontroltoolkit.binary.net35 for .NET 3.5), but when I try to load the ajaxcontroltoolkit.dll into my toolbox (as said in the tutorials), I get the following error msg: "'C:......\ajaxcontroltoolkit.dll' is not a microsoft .NET module." First question: Why is this happening? So I tried downloading the "Recommended" ajaxcontroltoolkit.binary.net35, and it accepted the .dll file and loaded all my controls. So, I started a new website and tried to check out a combobox, and it displays, but IE is giving the follow error msg: 'Sys.Extended.UI.PositioningMode.BottomLeft' is null or not an object.' 2nd question: Why is this happening?   • How do partialviews work in asp.net MVC when passing parameters back?

    I have a page with a partialview on it which is a list of items. I have a button on it which shows the next 5 items. This is done via ajax:- using (Ajax.BeginForm("ShowUpdates", new AjaxOptions() { UpdateTargetId = "statusUpdateContainer", InsertionMode = InsertionMode.InsertAfter })) { <input type="submit" class="formbutton" value="Show More" style="width:100%;"/> } My partial view controller: [HttpPost] public ActionResult ShowUpdates(string page, string pagesize) { //get data code hidden here return PartialView("_statusUpdates"); } My question is that I need the 'page' variable to increment each time someone presses the form button which is contained within the partialview. How do I keep track of that variable?

  • PHP 5.3: Late static binding doesn't work for properties when defined in parent class while missing in child class

"<br>"; } } class Brother extends Mommy { } class Sister extends Mommy { } Brother::init( "Brother Data" ); Sister::init( "Sister Data" ); Brother::showData(); // Outputs: Sister Data Sister::showData(); // Outputs: Sister Data ?> My understanding was that using the static keyword would refer to the child class, but apparently it magically applies to the parent class whenever it is missing from the child class. (This is kind of a dangerous behavior for PHP, more on that explained below.) I have the following two things in mind for why I want to do this: I don't want the redundancy of defining all of the properties in all of the child classes. I want properties to be defined as defaults in the parent class and I want the child class definition to be able to override these properties wherever needed. The child class needs to exclude properties whenever the defaults are intended, which is why I don't define the properties in the child classes in the above example. However, if we are wanting to override a property at runtime (via the init method), it will override it for the parent class! From that point forward, child classes initialized earlier (as in the case of Brother) unexpectedly change on you. Apparently this is a result of child classes not having their own copy of the static property whenever it isn't explicitly defined inside of the child class--but instead of throwing an error it switches behavior of static to access the parent. Therefore, is there some way that the parent class could dynamically create a property that belongs to the child class without it appearing inside of the child class definition? That way the child class could have its own copy of the static property and the static keyword can refer to it properly, and it can be written to take into account parent property defaults. Or is there some other solution, good, bad, or ugly?

    CSS frameworks have nice styles inbuilt and ask you to focuses on the grids but still there is a bit of dependency and lack of freedom it provide.. If I need to generate a webpage by looking on a PSD based mockup screen ..either i will use the classes provided by the framework but if that actual measurements does not exist I need to again specify my own rules that will add upto my CSS filesize and if performance is a constraint as always it is...you need not a big size file..though its in kb but every drop counts. Any comments and suggestions to use the framework in a best possible way.

    I'm working my way through Pickaxe 1.9, and I'm a bit confused by constant-lookup in instance/class_eval blocks. I'm using 1.9.2. It seems that Ruby handles constant-lookup in *_eval blocks the same way it does method-lookup: look for a definition in receiver.singleton_class (plus mixins); then in receiver.singleton_class.superclass (plus mixins); then continue up the eigenchain until you get to #<Class:BasicObject>; whose superclass is Class; and then up the rest of the ancestor chain (including Object, which stores all the constants you define at the top-level), checking for mixins along the way Is this correct? The Pickaxe discussion is a bit terse. Some examples: class Foo CONST = 'Foo::CONST' class << self CONST = 'EigenFoo::CONST' end end Foo.instance_eval { CONST } # => 'EigenFoo::CONST' Foo.class_eval { CONST } # => 'EigenFoo::CONST', not 'Foo::CONST'!   • Newbie - what do I need to do with httpd.conf to make CakePHP work correctly?

I'm a total newbie to Cake and not much better with apache; I've done a lot of PHP but always with a server that's already been set up by someone else. So I'm going through the basic blog tutorial, and it says: A Note On mod_rewrite Occasionally a new user will run in to mod_rewrite issues, so I'll mention them marginally here. If the Cake welcome page looks a little funny (no images or css styles), it probably means mod_rewrite isn't functioning on your system. Here are some tips to help get you up and running: Make sure that an .htaccess override is allowed: in your httpd.conf, you should have a section that defines a section for each Directory on your server. Make sure the AllowOverride is set to All for the correct Directory. Make sure you are editing the system httpd.conf rather than a user- or site-specific httpd.conf. For some reason or another, you might have obtained a copy of CakePHP without the needed .htaccess files. This sometimes happens because some operating systems treat files that start with '.' as hidden, and don't copy them. Make sure your copy of CakePHP is from the downloads section of the site or our SVN repository. Make sure you are loading up mod_rewrite correctly! You should see something like LoadModule rewrite_module libexec/httpd/mod_rewrite.so and AddModule mod_rewrite.c in your httpd.conf." I'm using XAMPP on linux. I've found my httpd.conf file in opt/lampp/ etc, but am not sure what I need to do with it. I've searched for "rewrite", and there's only one line: LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so There's nothing about AddModule mod_rewrite.c. Do I just create a Directory section for the directory I've installed Cake in and set AlllowOverride to All? (I created a separate subdirectory of my wwwroot and installed in there, since I also have installs of Joomla and CodeIgniter.) Is there anything else I need to do? My download of Cake did come with two htaccess-type files (._.htaccess and .htaccess) - do I need to do anything with them? Thanks for any help you can provide to this non-server-admin. I experienced that Tomcat 6 does not properly undeploy webapps, leaving classes in jvm. For example I monitored tomcat 6 with VisualVM: on start 2000 classes, on deploy of an app 3000 after redeploy 4000 and redeploy 5000 classes and so on - leading to crashes, memory leaks...   • Does XAML work with file links in Visual Studio?

    I'm adding a new WPF project to an existing Visual Studio solution and would like to reuse a bunch of code (C# and xaml) from an existing project within the solution. I've created the new project and added existing files as follows: Right click project Add - Add Existing Item Find the file to reuse, use the arrow next to "Add" and "Add as Link" I now have a nice project set up with all the proper links. However, XAML chokes on these links. For example: <ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> <ResourceDictionary Source="Resources\Elements\Buttons\Buttons.xaml" /> <ResourceDictionary Source="Resources\Elements\TextBox\TextBox.xaml" /> </ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> The files "Buttons.xaml" and "TextBox.xaml" exist as links in my new project. The project builds, but when I run, I get the following XamlParseException: 'Resources\Elements\Buttons\Buttons.xaml' value cannot be assigned to property 'Source' of object 'System.Windows.ResourceDictionary'. Cannot locate resource 'resources/elements/buttons/buttons.xaml'. It seems like the XAML parser is requiring an actual copy of these XAML files to exist in my new project, instead of links. This is exactly what I'm trying to avoid. I want my project to share these files so that any changes get transferred to the other project without hunting and copying. Any insight is appreciated!

    Basically i have a query string that when i hardcode in the catalogue value its fine. when I try adding it via a variable it just doesn't pick it up.     When Windows Server 2008 R2 was launched, the "server core" edition started to become useful to me, because it lets me deploy .NET background applications isolated on their own virtual machine instance with only a small fraction of all the disk space overhead of a default Windows Server installation, and very few Windows Updates. It comes with a subset of .NET 3.5 SP1 integrated (as an optional feature). Now that .NET 4.0 is released, the redistributables explicitly state that it's not support on Server Core. Any chance that there will be a separate download available for Server Core (e. g. without WPF) any time soon, has anybody heard about it?

  • Getting the date object to work in IE6 (w/ YYYY-MM-DD param)?

    I just got IE6 sprung on me for a project that is going out into the wild soon, which means it's time to go back and comb through all of the CSS and JS. I've gotten hung up on the date object, however: $.validator.addMethod("dateRange", function() { var today = new Date(); var event_date_raw = $('#event_date').val(); var event_date_parts = event_date_raw.split("-"); var event_date = new Date( event_date_parts[2]+","+event_date_parts[1]+","+event_date_parts[0] ); if( event_date.getTime() >= today.getTime() ) return true; return false; }, "Please specify a correct date:"); event_date.getTime() is returning "NaN" in IE6 so the validation fails. The event_raw_date is in the YYYY-MM-DD format, which date doesn't seem to mind in every other browser... Thoughts?

  • I work on local copies of files and upload them to a remote server on save. What version control sys

    Here's my situation: My files are on a remote server (Linux). When I want to edit a file at home on my Windows machine, my editor (PSPad) downloads a copy. When I save the document, my editor uploads it to the server, overwriting the previous version. Is there a version control system, preferably GUI driven, that can handle this situation? Additional info: I probably can't install elaborate software on the remote server, but can on my own computer. Concurrent Versions System (CVS) is installed on the remote server. Uploading/downloading goes through an FTP-to-SFTP bridge set up with Bitvise Tunnelier.

  • How do I make PyScript work? Says it cant find python26.dll

    I installed PyScript to try it out but it just wont start. It only gives me the error: "Error126: Could not open Dll "python26.dll" followed by: "Python could not be properly initialized. We must quit." I think this may have something to do with the PYTHONPATH but since I'm a newbie and dont know what it is or exactly what to put in the PYTHONPATH, after some googling, I ask here. Also, when I tried to install wxPython it was impossible becouse the PYTHONPATH could not be found. I have installed ActivePython 2.6 and the PATH is set so I can access python in cmd.

    Hi, I have the following code in my application: $(".deleteproduct").click(function() { id = this.id; alert("id: " + id); }); If i run my site nothing happens when I click on an element with the class deleteproduct. But when I place breakpoints before line 1,2 and 3 it works like a charm. The elements with class deleteproduct are loaded through AJAX call right behind $(document).ready(function(). The .click code is underneath it. This seems really weird to me. It's working if breakpoints in Firebug are used, but not when there are not...

(Tree ?) rotateR tree = case tree of Fork q (Fork p a b) c -> Fork p a (Fork q b c) As I understand, first line is something like Tree-type declaration (but I don't understand it exactly). Second line includes pattern matching (I don't understand as well why do we need to use pattern matching here). And third line does something absolutely unreadable for non-haskell developer. I've found definition of Fork as fork (f,g) x = (f x, g x) but I can't move further anymore.
