    Timershot was an excellent part of the PowerToys for Windows XP collection. But alas, it doesn't appear to work on Windows 7, even when run in XP SP3 compatibility mode. Can anyone recommend a good replacement? (...Preferably one that is compatible with the webcam on an Eee PC 1005HA. But I'll take whatever I can get.)

    I have replicated two database in SQL2008. The last two days the distribution database from publisher server changed to Suspect Mode and the replication process is down. I read a lot from Google and tried to repair, but without success. During my repairing process, the Distribution Database is has changed to Emergency mode.     Can anybody recommend a linux compatible touchscreen monitor, the criteria are: 19inch or greater 1920x1080 or better only single touch required be able to operate in portait mode We currently have some IIyama Prolite MTS2250MS monitors but these do not natively support portait mode and we have had little success getting the touch functionality working in Linux (although they do report themselves as HID devices when plugged in). So an alternative to suggesting a monitor would be pointers to information on how we could get the IIyama monitor working in Linux.

    Is there any way to map the A000????.??? filenames in the System Volume Information to their original names, without restoring them? The reason I ask is that several files in one user's System Volume Information RP1 were infected by a rootkit. Although they've been removed, I'd like to be able to figure out what they were originally. A0001253.sys and A0001211.sys are not very helpful names. :) It happened on two systems, one XP SP2, the other XP SP3.

    I have two web servers behind a F5 load balancer. Each web server has identical applications to the other. There was no issue until the config of the load balancer changed from source address persistence to least connections. Now in some applications I receieve this error Server Error in '/' Application. Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Rest of the network consists of windows-xp machines All xp machines can see the shared samba folders when internet access is on. If however , the internet access is interrupted , then the samba server cannot be viewed and no sharing occurs. Is samba folder sharing dependent on internet access ?

  • How to remove RAID flag on unstriped drive without losing data?

    I have a Gigabyte Z68X-UD4-B3 motherboard. It advertises this new thing called "XHD", which is like RAID but makes a SSD and traditional-style drive work together to enable high speed with high capacity. I don't want to use this feature, and I already have Windows 7 64 installed without using this feature. When I first installed my 2 hard drives (1 SSD and 1 traditional-style drive) in my machine and booted it up for the first time, it ran a program from the mobo that asked me if I wanted to set up XHD. Thinking it would go to some config screen, I said yes. It immediately started doing something with my drives and finished. I considered that strange, but figured it wouldn't matter when I simply install Windows onto my SSD only. I now have my BIOS and Windows running in AHCI mode with no RAID arrays and separate drives. My SSD is one of those new Corsair Force GT drives which loses power every so often, causing Windows to BSOD. I've figured everything out about this problem, including installing the latest firmware from Corsair, and the only way to fix it at this point is by installing Intel Rapid Storage Technology to control AHCI instead of Windows, since the Windows AHCI driver disables the drive's power every once in a while and can't be configured not to do so. I've tried installing Intel Rapid Storage Technology. When I reboot my machine after doing so, it BSODs just after the Windows logo. I've figured out this is because my SSD and my traditional drive are flagged as RAID, as seen in the "Intel Matrix Storage Manager" program found by switching the BIOS hard drive handling to "RAID" mode. This is due to the XHD auto-config program I mentioned earlier. Normally, the BIOS is set to AHCI, and when the drives boot in AHCI mode, they work perfectly. So, I've concluded the data is stored in AHCI mode but the drives' flags are set to RAID. I've figured out that I can accomplish my objective by using the "Intel Matrix Storage Manager" program on the mobo (with "Reset disks to non-RAID"), but doing so would cause it to completely wipe the drives I select. I want to simply toggle these flags from RAID to AHCI so Intel Rapid Storage Technology doesn't fail and cause a BSOD upon booting, but without wiping the drives.

    I've installed Ubuntu inside a virtual machine running on Windows 7's Virtual PC. One thing I've noticed right away is that it has to capture the mouse and not all the hardware works as expected. I didn't have such problems in my virtual Windows XP. Is there anything I need to do to either Virtual PC or within Ubuntu that will get them to cooperate as well as Windows XP seems to?

    Hard drives are transitioning from 512 byte to 4096 byte sector sizes, and it looks like Windows XP won't support these newer drives without additional software (such as WDalign from Western Digital) My question is: how does this affect external hard drives?   • Windows 7 Picture Printing. All pictures are landscape, when they should be Portrait

    I have recently upgraded from XP to 7 and I am having trouble printing out some pictures. In XP, if I were to select some pictures for printing the program would keep their orientation, and print them no problem. Now with Windows 7, even if I select 1 picture to print in the same (wallet size (35)) it rotates the picture. Is there anyway to rectify this within Windows? I did take a screenshot, but as a new user I can't post it.
