• bbpress doesn't send mail when my host has disabled php's mail() - workaround?

  Hi there, I just realized my bbpress isn't sending emails. Probably for the same reason wordpress wouldn't: mail() is not allowed on my host. I'm wondering if there is a simple work around for this... wordpress has some plugins which can tell it to use another route but I haven't come across anything for bbpress, yet. What would you do?

• Log to Firefox Error Console from JavaScript

  Is it possible to add messages to the built-in error console of Firefox from JavaScript code running in web pages? I know that I there's Firebug, which provides a console object and its own error console, but I was looking for a quick fix earlier on and couldn't find anything. I guess it might not be possible at all, to prevent malicious web pages from spamming the log?

  I don't have multiple threads or anything like that, and I thought select() was non-blocking, however, as I add more items to an array used as the IO object, and using select(), after about 1000~ items in the array (with some interaction on them).. the whole script exits with a deadlock / fatal error... • Problem installing mysql 5 on Ubuntu 10.10

  Hello! In my Ubuntu 10.10, following this tutorial, I don't face step 2. I mean, while installing the packets, I don't face anything related to configuration. Then, when I run a command, such a mysql -u root -p , I get this error: ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) As I see in other treads, ps aux | grep mysqld gives me just this output: 1000 4508 0.0 0.0 5172 760 pts/0 S+ 19:53 0:00 grep --color=auto mysqld What is happening??   Let's say you have two objects (UITextviews) in your class. When the text view changes, you have a delegate method that catches the change.. but how can you tell programatically WHICH object was changed and called the delegate ?? I have to be missing something, because this should be trivial, but I couldnt find anything. Note: In this case, its not possible to just break up the class to only have one object (there by bypassing ambiguity).. I looked for things like assigned variable names for nsobjects, nothing there

• WPF application fails with "bad image format"

  Hi, I have an application build on my x64 computer. It is now build for x86 but on windows XP machines (x86) it fails with the "bad image format". On all Vista and up OS, it runs perfectly on x64 platfomrms. I tracked the problem to my icon. I removed the icon and now it runs fine, anyone got an idea of how on earth this could relate to anything?

  What is the generic algorithm or process that is commonly used to dynamically render portions of a scrolling area? For example, in Google Maps, when the user scrolls past the bounds of the currently rendered area, a grey checkerboard pattern is displayed within the not-yet-rendered portions while the application loads and renders those areas. I'm looking specifically for the approach, or the mathematics, related to filling a graphics area in chunks based on what has just come into view. If possible, I'm looking for anything relevant to the GDI+ process of doing so.

• Eclipse JFace TreeViewer level auto expansion doesn't work

  According to the Eclipse documentation TreeViewer.setAutoExpandLevel(3) means that top-level elements are expanded, and their children, but not grandchildren. I used that in my code, but after setting the input the tree is not auto-expanded, neither on OS X nor on Linux. Expanding the tree manually (via mouse) works flawlessly. Am I missing anything?
