• Xampp / Wamp / Whatever it is, Apache is running super slow...

  I've got my windows pc (localhost) running xampp, it loads the pages sometimes really quick or sometimes really slow... So I figured and searched and was recommended to get wamp. So I got that and installed it, still... the pages load so damn slowly. No heavy cpu load or anything, all my ports are open too. Any ideas?

• Php referrer works or not?

  I need to know the referring server for a page on my site. Is there any safe method to check where the user "came" to the page FROM? I tried uploading this to my server, but this wont output anything at all when I write the adress to the file in the browsers adress bar: <?php echo $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER']; ?> I need to check this in order to display a link on the page or not...   I've always laughed to myself when I looked back at my VB6 days, "What modern language doesn't allow incrementing with double plus signs?": number++ To my surprise I can't find anything about this in the Python docs. Must I really subject myself to number = number + 1? Doesn't people use the ++/-- notation? :-(

  Hi, Is it possible to stop the automatic preventDefault() from applying in a simple Jquery toggle function? $(".mydiv").toggle( function () { $(this).addClass("blue"); }, function () { $(this).removeClass("blue"); } ); The above prevents elements inside the div from responding normally to the click. It doesn't have to be the toggle() function - anything that allows toggling a class on and off AND doesn't return false would be great. Thanks.

  I'm trying to wrap a standard sequence of steps in a shell script (linux/bash) and can't seem to figure out how to tell of the execution of svn status returned anything. For example ~/sandbox/$svn status ? pat/foo ~/sandbox/$echo $? 0 If I delete the foo file, then the svn status return nothing, but the echo $? is still 0 I want to not do some steps if there are uncommitted changes. Pointers greatly appreciated.

So if the array contains: {"/bin/ls","ls","-a","-l"} ...how can I eventually construct an execl() call that is: execl("/bin/ls","ls","-a","-l",NULL); I must be thinking about this wrong, as I can't find anything online, just talk about defining functions that can take a variable number of arguments.

  I'm trying to work with sockets and I have such problem In code example: setsockopt(socket.SOL_SOCKET,IN.SO_BINDTODEVICE,self.listen_address+'\0') I have error AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'SO_BINDTODEVICE' On Linux machine this attribute is OK but on FreeBSD trere are no any SO_* attributes in module IN. What port should I install to resolve this problem on FreeBDS machine? Python versions on Linux tested: 2.5.4 and 2.6.4; on FreeBSD: 2.5.5 I can't find anything about this module in my book, and googling keyword IN looks like seamless ...

I would like for this page to display the view of just the two fields on the first load (rather than the current 5 it shows on first load), then when the user clicks the 'register' link, it shows the other 3 - for a total of 5.   Does anybody know for what the acronym ZIP stands for which was and is used in programs like PKZIP and GZIP? There is a compression algorithm named Lempel-Ziv-Welch-Algorithm (LZW) maybe the guy named Ziv invented together with other people ZIP? I cannot find anything about it, maybe its not an abbreviation but instead it just means "to zip files" but I think originally there was more about it..
