  I have /path/to/my/theme/static/css/frontend.css which is called by base.html <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="{{ STATIC_URL }}css/frontend.css" media="all" /> In which I've got a background for the header: #header-wrapper min-width: 960px; height: 150px; background: transparent url(img/header-bg.png) repeat-x center bottom; } The file is /path/to/my/theme/static/img I've run manage.py collectstatic to gather the files and almost everything looks correct except the link generated looks like: http://example.com/static/css/img/header-bg.png In which the image does not show, because the correct URL is: http://example.com/static/img/header-bg.png Where am I going wrong??

  This should be a simple thing to do, but I'm running into a wall and I'm not sure how to debug this response. However, when I try to upload an image and submit it, I see 2 errors prohibited this from being saved There were problems with the following fields: Image Paperclip::CommandNotFoundError Image Paperclip::CommandNotFoundError What am I doing wrong? • Customizing compare in bsearch()

  I have an array of addresses that point to integers ( these integers are sorted in ascending order). They have duplicate values. Ex: 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4...... I am trying to get hold of all the values that are greater than a certain value(key). Currently trying to implement it using binary search algo - void *bsearch( const void *key, const void *base, size_t num, size_t width, int ( __cdecl *compare ) ( const void *, const void *) ); I am not able to achieve this completely, but for some of them. Would there be any other way to get hold of all the values of the array, with out changing the algorithm I am using?

• jsjac openfire chat issue

  I am trying to use openFire + jsjac for my application as chat option. I have installed openfire in my local machine and it is running fine on http://127.0.0.1:4040/ and i have downloaded jsjac version 1-3-4. 1) when I run sampleClient.html file directly [URL: C:\tomcat\webapps\jsjac\examples\simpleclient.html] I am able to connect sampleClient with openFire. Select Http Binding http Base : http://127.0.0.1:7070/http-bind/ jabber server : 127.0.0.1 username : admin password : ** 2) But when I put jsjac folder in tomcat/webapps/ directory, I access sampleClient through http://127.0.0.1:8080/jsjac/examples/sampleClient.html, at that time using above setting (which i have used in step 1) it is giving error "Service unavailable". In step 1 when though I am connected with openFire, when I send a message it displays only "message received from admin@localhost", but it does not display the actual message.. I need your advice on these problems... Thanks.

• Possibly simple PHP/MYSQL issue with retrieving and showing data

  I have been racking my brains over this for a while now. Here is the data i have in the sql data base as an example: ID | TYPE | DATA 1 | TXT | TEST 2 | PHP | php 3 | JS | JAVASCRIPT That is just an example, there are multiple listing for TXT, PHP and JS throughout the table. What I want to do is retrive all the data and display it all into separate drop down/select boxes. Meaning, select box one would list all data with type TXT, select box two would list all data with type PHP and select box 3 would list all data with type JS. The only way I have came about doing this is doing individual sql queries for each different type. I know there is a way to do it all in 1 query and then display it the way I want to but I just can't seem to figure out how and I know its going to drive me nuts when someone helps and I see just how they did it.   I have read through the documentation on perforce and the "branching strategy" advice as well. One thing thats left me baffled, is how a simple concern is does not seem to adequtely adressed. When I am working on a project that touches many parts of our code base , I cannot checkin my code at the end of the day without checking into the trunk. So do I need to branch in this situation? I want to be able to have the ability to have a history of my changes in a long and hard project, so I can go back when I I make a wrong turn.. The problem with branching I see is that I will be creating copies of almost the entire codebase .. Am I missing an obvious solution here? thanks

  I have a simple GAE app that includes a login/logout link. This app is running on the dev server at the moment. The base page handler gets the current user, and creates a login/logout url appropriately. • What's the difference between starting a process from the dock vs. the command line on OS X

  I'm debugging an issue on OS X that only occurs when the application is started from the dock. It does not happen when the app is started from the command line. What is the difference between the two scenarios? The code I'm working with is a c++ based bundled plug-in being loaded in a third party app. I've attached to the process with GDB in both scenarios and the only difference I can see is that a couple of extra dylibs are loaded in the process when running from the command line and that the base address of my library is slightly different in the two scenarios. I've tried changing my linkage to i-prebind and/or -bind_at_load to no avail.

Can I create a project in svn that serves as a "base project", and then create branches for each client? With that said, will I then be able to commit changes in a branch to the branch, with the option of pushing that change to the core? Can I also perform and "update" command in a branch that will only update changes to the core?

• Site works perfect in Mozilla but not in IE. Is my js file not compatible with IE

  I'm working on a site written in PHP/MySQL. We have a form to reserve time on a calendar and it works great in Mozilla and stores the reservation to our database, but in IE you fill out the form and when you click the "Reserve" button to submit it and nothing happens. All I can think of is that my javascript is not working with IE. I have these lines in my .js file: resLenT = document.getElementById(resLenElem); resLenI = resLenT.selectedIndex; resLen = resLenI + 1; where resLenElem is a drop-down box. These are the only lines that I can think of at the moment that might be causing trouble in IE. Does this all sound like I'm on the right track or am I way off base?

  hi, My needs are very simple: I have a Tip table to receive comments and have comments to receive comments, too. To retrieve each comment that is stored in the same table (comments), I created another key for the comments on comments: "inverse_comments". I tried to use one comments table by using self-referntial association. Some resources seem to bring more than one table into the piture which are diffent from my needs. So I came up whth the following modeling for comments: class Comment < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :tip belongs_to :user has_many :mycomments, :through => :inverse_comments, :source => :comment end Apparently something is missing here but I cannot figure it out. Now for managing user i thought Using membrship provider. and choose'd to develop a Custom membership provider. Now my problem is that My data base schema dosn't match the Standred membership schema and the functions provided to Override take different argument than i expect. Like membership uses username as a username to log in. But i haev to use User email ID as the user name, also its searching functions is based on using Username as way to serach but i want it to search by UserID. Same Goes for User insertion, deletion, Updation.. please help me .... Edit Its just an idea, Would it be feasible to forcefully pass my values in the arguments and then handle them in my code.

• C#: Resource file refactoring

  Does anyone know of a good tool for refactoring resources in a visual studio 2008 solution? We have a number of resource files with translated text in an assembly used for localizing our application. But they have gotten a bit messy... I would like to rename some of the keys, and move some of them into other resource files. And I would like those changes be done in my code, and the translated versions of the resource files as well. Maybe a some analysis on what strings are missing in the translated versions, and what strings have been removed from the original as well... Does anyone know of a good visual studio extension or ReSharper plugin that can help me with this? Right now it is kind of a pain, because I have to first rename the key in the base resource file, then in the localized versions. And then compile to get all the compile errors resulting from the key which now have a different name, and then go through and fix them all... very annoying =/

  Hi All, I have a base class called EventArgs. Derived from this are many, many specializations that represent event arguments for a particular kind of event. Consumers of these events may need some, many, or very few of these argument classes. My question is, would you provide a header file for each type (e.g, 50+ header files for the varying ones), would you try to group them in to families and have a 'common' header file for those, or would you throw caution to the window and throw them in to one easy-of-use header file that can just be included? Another approach might be to have 50 header files, and then I could introduce some "family" header files that included particular ones. Not sure about the naming conventions for these kinds of things so it is obvious what is where. I know there may not be a hard and fast rule, but wondering what other developers have done when they find themselves writing many little classes. Thanks in advance.

I think about first run of web site and redirect on welcome page, when controller creates database from model. But I doubt about details: 1. Where? In HttpModule, but request of any image or css will check that database exist. In custom RouteHandler, but then anybody need to know that need to use this handler when to add route. In BaseController, but then code will look like SomeController(..., IDatabase database) : base(database). 2. When? Better create database on first run by any url or may be on deployment of site (additional tool which create ObjectContext and invoke CreateDatabase)? Thanks.

  I would like to fix up some error messages my site generates. Here is the problem: class Brand < ActiveRecord::Base validates_presence_of :foo ... end My goal is to make a message "Ticket description is required" instead of "Foo is required" or may not be blank, or whatever. The reason this is so important is because lets say previously the field was ticket_summary. That was great and the server was coded to use that, but now due to crazy-insane business analysts it has been determined that ticket_summary is a poor name, and should be ticket_description. Now I don't necessarily want to have my db be driven by the user requirements for field names, especially since they can change frequently without functionality changes. Is there a mechanism for providing this already?

• Django development server serving css but not js

  I am developing a django (1.4) app on my local machine. I am running the built-in development server with python manage.py runserver. In base.html I have: <link href="{{ STATIC_URL }}bootstrap.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <script src="{{ STATIC_URL }}boostrap-dropdown.js" type="text/javascript"></script> boostrap.css loads just fine when I load a page, but bootstrap-dropdown.js is 404'd. They are sitting right next to each other in my static directory. Relevant parts of settings.py: STATIC_URL = '/static/' STATICFILES_DIRS = ( '/home/username/projects/projectname/static',) Debug is set to True. I have tried it both with and without the staticfiles_urlpatterns trick. Django can find one file in the directory but not the other? I think I'm going crazy.
