[/etc/init.d] Error opening No such file or directory ================================================ Distribution provided drivers for Xorg X server are used.   • Unable to access intel fake RAID 1 array in Fedora 14 after reboot

    Hello everyone, 1st I am relatively new to linux (but not to *nix). I have 4 disks assembled in the following intel ahci bios fake raid arrays: 2x320GB RAID1 - used for operating systems md126 2x1TB RAID1 - used for data md125 I have used the raid of size 320GB to install my operating system and the second raid I didn't even select during the installation of Fedora 14. After successful partitioning and installation of Fedora, I tried to make the second array available, it was possible to make it visible in linux with mdadm --assembe --scan , after that I created one maximum size partition and 1 maximum size ext4 filesystem in it. Mounted, and used it. After restart - a few I/O errors during boot regarding md125 + inability to mount the filesystem on it and dropped into repair shell. I commented the filesystem in fstab and it booted. It was only after I recreated the partition via fdisk that it reappeared in /dev... until next reboot. So, my question is - How do I make the array automatically available after reboot?   • BroadcastReceiver not triggered by Alarm

    I am trying to set up an alarm that will run in the background and trigger (eventually) a save event. At the moment I simply have this code attached to a button. Press the button and the alarm should start leaving Toast messages behind as an indication that it is functioning. At the moment everything runs except the onReceive in the BroadcastReceiver is never triggered.   • Cannot find the "Create Network" menuitem in the WiFi icon menu in Mountain Lion

    I am using Mountain Lion Developer Preview 2. I cannot find the "Create Network" menuitem in the WiFi icon menu in the menubar. It was there before when I was using Lion. It started missing since I upgraded to Mountain Lion Developer Preview 1. By the way, is there any other method to create an ad-hoc WiFi network on OS X? I tried to use Internet Sharing via WiFi, but other devices using the shared connection could not find the Mac in their local networks. I am using an early 2011 MacBook Pro 15'. Thanks.

  • How to estimate size of data to transfer when using DbCommand.ExecuteXXX?

    I want to show the user detailed progress information when performing potentially lengthy database operations. Specifically, when inserting/updating data that may be on the order of hundreds of KB or MB. Currently, I'm using in-memory DataTables and DataRows which are then synced with the database via TableAdapter.Update calls. This works fine and dandy, but the single call leaves little opportunity to glean any kind of progress info to show to the user. I have no idea how much data is passing through the network to the remote DB or its progress. Basically, all I know is when Update returns and it is assumed complete (barring any errors or exceptions). But this means all I can show is 0% and then a pause and then 100%. I can count the number of rows, even going so far to cound how many are actually Modified or Added, and I could even maybe calculate per DataRow its estimated size based on the datatype of each column, using sizeof for value types like int and checking length for things like strings or byte arrays. With that, I could probably determine, before updating, an estimated total transfer size, but I'm still stuck without any progress info once Update is called on the TableAdapter. Am I stuck just using an indeterminate progress bar or mouse waiting cursor? Would I need to radically change our data access layer to be able to hook into this kind of information? Even if I can't get it down to the precise KB transferred (like a web browser file download progress bar), could I at least know when each DataRow/DataTable finishes or something? How do you best show this kind of progress info using ADO.NET?

  • Mini-DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter Sound Stopped Working

    I have cancelled cable and want to watch the NCAA tournament games on my TV tonight through my 2011 Macbook Pro where I can stream the game in a browser. I have a cheap Mini-DisplayPort to HDMI converter that I have connected to my TV in the past and had no issues with audio or video, the problem is the audio has stopped working since the last time I used it a few months ago and now just keeps playing through the laptop speakers, but the video works fine. Everything with my setup is the same and when I try to force the audio output to the TV in the Audio system settings, my TV is not listed as an output option at all. I have tried various combinations of power cycling, replugging-in both devices and making sure the TV options are set properly to receive audio through HDMI but no luck. Anyone know what the issue could be?

A lof of result are rather dated too. I checked the documentation but it does not mention any tables. What is the root cause of this problem? At the very least I would like to see a list of the required tables somewhere?

    I have a couple of tables with similar structures like this: <table> <tbody> <tr>content</tr> <tr>content</tr> <tr>content</tr> <tr>content</tr> <tr>content</tr> <tr>content</tr> <tr>content</tr> <tr>content</tr> ..etc --- The fake button is added here <div class="addrow">Add another</div> </tbody> </table> Since this is a long list, I have a need to toggle the rows one at a time. I just need to show the first row, of course, the rest should be toggled. The action is when I click a dynamic fake button, it will show row no. 2, and clicking again will show another next row.     I am interested in buying a sony vaio z series laptop. But I found out that it was already released in january 2010 and doesnt have quad core cpus available. I guess there is a product update due in 2011? Has anyone knowledge of how the product cycles are with sony laptops? E. g. I know that apple updates its macbook pro series somewhat every 9 - 12 months. Is this around the same with sony? I am also wondering if the ssd drives sony uses are any good, but that could be another question...

    I've had Mac OS X Lion installed on a mid-2011 iMac. I've erased the main partition and when I try to repair OS installation it connects to the Internet and says that it can't continue and I should contact Apple Support. I don't have original CD which should've come with an iMac. How can I install at least some version of OS X? Update: I've downloaded what looks like an installation app for Mac OS X Lion with a 4.6Gb InstallESD.dmg file but can't open it on Windows. I've tried PowerISO and MagicISO to no effect. Is it possible to create Mac OS installation media on Windows?

  • Synergy on Mac OS X 10.7

    Unfortunately, I can't seem to get Synergy to work between two Mac clients both using 10.7. One is an older 21" iMac and the other is a new 2011 Macbook Air. Here's my synergy.conf, symlinked to my home directory as ~/.synergy.conf section: screens foo: bar: super = alt alt = super end section: links foo: right = bar bar: left = foo end That is, I thought the super = alt trick was mandatory in order to have alt work on Mac but unfortunately, nothing really works. Both the Command and Control keys do NOT work on bar but work fine on foo given that the keyboard is paired with that screen. The keyboard modifier keys are the same on both computers and the making the mouse go between screens works as well. I was wondering if anyone else had any success or problems running into this issue on 10.7 and was hoping there was a possible fix.

  • RESTful design, how to name pages outside CRUD et al?

    Hi all, I'm working on a site that has quite a few pages that fall outside my limited understanding of RESTful design, which is essentially: Create, Read, Update, Delete, Show, List Here's the question: what is a good system for labeling actions/routes when a page doesn't neatly fall into CRUD/show/list? Some of my pages have info about multiple tables at once. I am building a site that gives some customers a 'home base' after they log on. It does NOT give them any information about themselves so it shouldn't be, for example, /customers/show/1. It does have information about companies, but there are other pages on the site that do that differently. What do you do when you have these situations? This 'home-base' is shown to customers and it mainly has info about companies (but not uniquely so). Second case: I have a table called 'Matchings' in between customers and companies. These matchings are accessed in completely different ways on different parts of the site (different layouts, different CSS sheets, different types of users accessing them, etc. They can't ALL be matchings/show. What's the best way to label the others? Thanks very much. =)

  • Partition error being reported by only some programs

    I am getting an error about the partitions on one of my drives. I checked my hard disk with Acronis Disk Director 11 Home, HDTunePro, MiniTool Partition Wizard, Hddscan, HDD Regenerator 2011, WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostics, GParted, and Parted Magic, but none of them found any problems with the drive. However, when I perform a check with PartitionGuru, DiskGenius, and an old version of Partition Magic (8.0), I get the following error (seen below) about the partition being bad and needing to reformat to fix it: Error - The number of sectors record in DBR overflow - Reformat Should I reforamt or not? I checked two other hard drives, one of them like my 500 WD Blue, and neither has any errors with any progras. Are there any other programs that can check partitions for errors? Finally, how should a large SATA hard disk be formatted? I currently use programs like GParted, Acronis Disk Director, or MiniTool Partition Wizard. Are these programs good for formatting a new hard disk? Could the choice of format tool be the cause of the error?

  • Automating and deploying new linux servers

    I'm in the process of developing a method to automate new virtual machines into my environment. 90% of our machines are virtual but the process is similar for both physical and vmware based images. What I do now is I use cobbler to install the base OS. The kickstart script has post hooks to modify the yum repo and installs puppet and func. Once the servers are running, I manually add them into nagios and sign the certificate via the puppetmaster. I've since migrated most of the resources to use mysql as the backend. I wanted to see what others are doing and my goal for 2011 is to have puppet inventory the hardware into mysql, and somehow i'll script a python script to have nagios grab the info and automatically add it for monitoring purposes. It's kind of tedious to have to add each new server into nagios, puppet's dashboard, munin, etc...

The StatusDescription of the response says that the operation is "not permitted". Could it be that my office FTP just wont allow for the querying of a file size? I've also tried listing the directory details, which will return the size, and have noticed that my office FTP reports the directory details in a different format then my personal FTP.     Im having troubles while im trying to connect from linux to Windows CE, via VNC viewer.   • Home link on the menu does not highlight

    My menu shows the active links when clicked on it except for the home link (http://www.obsia.com). It is never highlighted. I tried playing around but I can't seem to figure it out.     Our company publishes our software product's documentation using a custom-built content management system using a dynamic URL namespace like this: http://ourproduct.com/documentation/version/pageid Where "version" is the version number to which the documentation applies, and "pageid" is a unique string which identifies that page in our back-end content management system. For example, if content (e.g. a page about configuration best practices) is unchanged from version 3.0 and 4.0 of our product, it'd be reachable by two different URLs: http://ourproduct.com/documentation/3.0/configuration-best-practices http://ourproduct.com/documentation/4.0/configuration-best-practices This URL scheme allows us to scope Google search results to see only documentaiton for a particular product version, like this: configuration site:ourproduct.com/documentation/4.0 But when the user is searching across all versions, we don't want Google to arbitrarily choose one of the URLs to show in results. Instead, we always want the latest version to show up. Hence our planned use of rel=canonical so we can proscriptively tell Google which URL we want to show up if multiple versions are being searched. (Users who do oddball things like searching 2 versions but not all of them are a corner case, so we don't care which version(s) show up in that case-- the primary use-cases we care about is searching one version or searching all versions) But what will happen to scoped searches if we do this? If my rel=canonical URL points to version 4.0, but my search is scoped to 3.0, will Google return a result? Even if you don't know the answer offhand, do you know a site which uses rel=canonical to redirect across folders in a URL namespace. If so, I could run a few Google searches and figure out the answer.

    I am trying to get read/write support for NTFS drives, under Mac os 10.6. I have tried to use NTFS 3G, but it seems it does not support 64 bit kernels. I was unable to change my Mac's Kernel to 32 bit. Is there a solution? I am running Snow Leopard, under a 2011 MBP13 I am getting the following error.     I have a tree of categories and courses in my SEAM application. Courses may be active and inactive. I want to be able to show only active or all courses in my tree. I've decided to always build complete tree in my PAGE scope component since building this tree is quite expensive operation. I have boolean flag courseActive in the data wrapped by TreeNode<T>. Now I can't find the way to show courses node only if this flag is true.   • Group policy issues

    We are having an issue on one of our clients relatively new sbs installs. The domain consists of a single SBS 2011 server with 4 windows 7 clients and 3 xp clients. Most of the time everything is fine however roughly every 3 days windows 7 clients start timing out when trying to receive computer group policy. This results in hour long delays before getting to the login screen in the morning. This is accompanied by event ID 6006, win login errors stating it took 3599 seconds to process policy. Once they've booted they can log in without issue however gpupdate fails again on computer policy and gpresult comes back with access denied, even when run as domain admin... At this point if we restart the server the network is fine for 3 days. I thought perhaps it might be ipv6 or smb2, but disabling ipv6 on the clients doesn't help and the clients can browse the sysvol folder freely on smb2 anyway. Does anyone have any ideas or routes I can take to further diagnose the issue? Thanks in advance :)
