  • Penalization of under performing employees, how to avoid this? [closed]

    My company's management wants to deduct from the salary of under performing employees. I'm a member of the Core Strategy committee and they want my opinion also. I believe that the throughput from an employee depends on a lot of things such as the particular work assigned to them, other members of his/her team, other reasons etc. Such penalizations will be demoralizing to the people. How can I convince my management not to do so?

  • How can I force asp.net webapi to always decode POST data as JSON

    I getting some json data posted to my asp.net webapi, but the post parameter is always coming up null - the data is not being serialized correctly. The method looks something like this: public HttpResponseMessage Post(string id, RegistrationData registerData) It seems the problem is that the client (which I have no control over) is always sending the content-type as x-www-form-urlencoded, even though the content is actually json. This causes mvc to try to deserialize as form data, which fails. Is there anyway to get webapi to always deserialize as json, and to ignore the content-type header?

  • Using CSS, how can I make overflow:visible; contents overlap adjacent <td> cells?

    I have the following CSS style code for my table: td { overflow: hidden; white-space:nowrap; } td:hover { overflow: visible; } However, when I hover over a <td> element whos contents (text) are hidden, the result is that the contents become visible but are behind the content of the adjacent cell (right side). I do not think that z-index can be applied to table cell elements, so is there a CSS attribute that I can specify within my td:hover style which will make the content of my <td> tag overlap the content in adjacent cells?

    I'd like to display two independent Tumblr blogs next to each other on one page. I'd like them to look identical to their Tumblr theme. What's the best way to do this? I'm able to use JavaScript to import the content like this: <div id="tumblr1"> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://tumblr1.tumblr.com/js"></script> <div> <div id="tumblr2"> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://tumblr2.tumblr.com/js"></script> <div> But the content obviously won't be styled. Is there a simpler way to do this? If not, is there a simple way to style the content I'm getting from the js?

  • JSON URL from StackExchange API returning jibberish?

    I have a feeling I'm doing something wrong here, but I'm not quite sure I'f I'm missing a step, or am just having an encoding problem or something. I would copy and past it here, but that isn't working. What am I doing wrong?

  • Flash not interacting with Javascripts in browser inside my app

    Hi , I have an application which embeds a xulrunner based browser. I have to load some flash content in it which talks to some javascripts to update the browser title. The flash content works fine when launched from Firefox but not inside my app. I tried a sample html file which has some javascripts and they work fine. It even works when I have the flash content on a server. It is only when I try to run js through flash present on my local machine that I see this problem. I guess it must have something to do with some security settings in xulrunner. Could somebody help me figure out what the problem might be? Thanks jbsp72

  • How to get the current project directory or the bin directory and move a few level up?

    I have an ASP.Net MVC app, and i have some xsl files inside of the Content directory. I've try a few methods to get directory dynamically buy keep on coming short. So how do i get the directory to point to the Content/xsl folder? the closest that i came to was with this: this.GetType().Assembly.CodeBase which only returns the project DLL, but i can't figure out how to move up a few levels from there or what .net library to use to navigate around the path. there's no ../.. :( Basically i want to navigate to the Content/xsl folder which is at the same level of the Bin directory.

  • Problem in getting contents of formula based cell using JXL api in JAVA

    Hello, I am facing a problem while getting contents of cell using JXL api, if I am using formula in xls sheet. Right now I am using formula - IF($L10="","",+ROUND($L10*1.375,3)) in each cell but when the cell value is blank i am getting junk charactes when i call cell.getContents() method, the code snip is as follows - Workbook = Workbook.getWorkbook(p_sourceFile); excelsheet = workbook.getSheet(0); for (int row = 1; row < noOfRows; row++) { cell = excelsheet.getCell(col, row); content = cell.getContents(); System.out.println("content-" + content); //Is giving me junk character ? when the cell value is blank. ... I have a Note model class like this: class Note(models.Model): author = models.ForeignKey(User, related_name='notes') content = NoteContentField(max_length=256) NoteContentField is a custom sub-class of CharField that override the to_python method in purpose of doing some twitter-text-conversion processing. class NoteContentField(models.CharField): __metaclass__ = models.SubfieldBase def to_python(self, value): value = super(NoteContentField, self).to_python(value) from ..utils import linkify return mark_safe(linkify(value)) However, this doesn't work. When I save a Note object like this: note = Note(author=request.use, content=form.cleaned_data['content']) The conversed value is saved into the database, which is not what I wanna see. Would you please tell me what's wrong with this? Thanks in advance.

  • What is the proper way to resolve Eclipse warning "isn't parameterized"?

    I'm trying to clean up some warnings in some old Java code (in Eclipse), and I'm unsure what the proper thing to do is in this case. The block looks more or less like this: Transferable content = getToolkit().getSystemClipboard().getContents( null ); java.util.List clipboardFileList = null; if( content.isDataFlavorSupported( DataFlavor.javaFileListFlavor ) ) { try { clipboardFileList = (java.util.List)content.getTransferData( DataFlavor.javaFileListFlavor); } /* Do other crap, etc. */ } The List generates a warning as it isn't parameterized, however, if I parameterize it with <File>, which I'm pretty sure is what it requires, it complains that it can't convert from Object to List<File>. I could merely suppress the unchecked warning for the function, but would prefer to avoid that if there is a "good" solution. Thoughts?

    Hi, My app offers a "share/tell-a-friend" function. When the "share" button is pressed the following method is being called to open a list of apps, which can perform the action (Eg. Gmail, Twittroid, Facebook...): public void share() { Intent shareIntent = new Intent(android.content.Intent.ACTION_SEND); shareIntent.setType("text/plain"); shareIntent.putExtra(android.content.Intent.EXTRA_SUBJECT, getText(R.string.menu_share_subject)); shareIntent.putExtra(android.content.Intent.EXTRA_TEXT, getText(R.string.menu_share_body)); startActivity(Intent.createChooser(shareIntent, getText(R.string.menu_share_intent))); } The sharing functionality works basically. But when the sharing app (Facebook, Twitter, ...) tries to return to my app, a force close is thrown. I guess that my app gets closed in the background during the sharing process... at least that is what the debugger sais... Any ideas?

  • Bind multiple request parameters to one object in Spring 3

    Hi, I can't figure out a way to bind several arguments and headers to one request parameter using annotations in Spring 3. For example, let's say I'm getting this request: Headers: Content-type: text/plain; POST Body: Name: Max Now I want it all to mysteriously bind to this object: class NameInfo { String name; } Using some code like this: String getName() { if ("text/plain".equals(headers.get("content-type"))) { return body.get("name"); } else if ("xml".equals(headers.get("content-type")) { return parseXml(body).get("name"); } else ... } So that in the end I would be able to use: @RequestMapping(method = RequestMethod.POST) void processName(@RequestAttribute NameInfo name) { ... } Is there a way to achieve something similar to what I need?     Oracle understands the value of desktop virtualization and how customers have really embraced it as a top tier method to deliver access to applications and data. Just as supporting operating systems other than Windows in the enterprise desktop space started to become necessary perhaps 5-7 years ago, supporting desktop virtualization with VDI, application virtualization, thin clients, and tablet access is becoming necessary today in 2012. Any application strategy needs to have a secure mobile component, and a solution that gives you a holistic strategy across both mobile and fixed-asset (i.e., desktop PCs) devices is crucial to success. This means it's probably useful to learn about desktop virtualization, even if it's not in your typical area of responsibility. A good way to do that is at one of the many trade shows where we exhibit. Here are two examples:  DOAG 2012 Conference + Exhibition The DOAG Conference is fast approaching, starting November 20th in Nuremberg, Germany. If you've been reading this blog for a while, you might remember that we attended last year as well. This conference is fantastic for us because we get to speak directly to users of Oracle products. In many cases, those DBAs, IT managers, and other infrastructure folks are looking for ways to deal with the burgeoning BYOD model, as well as ways of streamlining their standard desktop and access technologies. We have a couple of sessions where you can learn a great deal about how Oracle can help with these points.     I am having some problem understanding layouts in JavaFX. Consider following code. Stage { title: "ListView test" scene: Scene { width: 400 height: 400 content: [ VBox { content: [ ListView { height: 200 width: 200 items: ["item1", "item2"] } ] } ] } } I was expecting ListView showing up in 200 x 200 dimension but no matter how I tried to fix this, the width and height of ListView seemed fixed. But following code works for showing ListView as I intended. Stage { title: "ListView test" scene: Scene { width: 400 height: 400 content: [ ListView { height: 200 width: 200 items: ["item1", "item2"] } ] } } So, what is the problem here? I cannot use ListView within layouts?

    hi guys, i'm working on iphone application which needs to run offline at an exhibition. It should present data, stored local because there is no internet at the booth. Still, to easily have content updates it should be able to update it's content once connected to internet. It's quite some data ( around 300 full lines of text ) and I want it to be loaded, stored and visualized as optimized as possible. What's the best way to load in content once connected and how should I store it on the device?

Q. Is data resource segmentation part of the overall strategy at Cisco?A. It is but it is managed by the business teams and not at the IT level. Q. Does Cisco also have an Active Directoy LDAP? Do they sync AD from OID or do the provision to AD as another resource?[A. Yes, we do.   • Generate dynamic html

    Hi all, to export some data i want to be able to generate an html output. I have some constant content to output, like html headers and footers. My question is how to deal with that ? Do I have to embed some template (in a ressource file) and parse it to make it dynamic ? Do I store my static content in some constant (is there a 255 char limit?) and append them while generating the dynamic content ? Do you have some hints, useful links, or best practices to share? If client not paying extra or if we don't have much time then go for A If client paying then or if we have time to make site compatible go for at least AA If client paying and needed according to govt. rules then go for AAA If we are making site then which level we should we try to achieve, or we should do only on client request? Although i found these definitions on this site but these are confusing for me • Priority 1: For all users to access the Web content and for Web developers to attain Conformance level “A”, these requirements must be satisfied. • Priority 2: These requirements should be satisfied by the Web developers so that no group finds it difficult to access the Web content and so as to attain Conformance level “AA”. • Priority 3: These requirements may be satisfied by the Web developers to facilitate access to Web content for some groups and attain Conformance level “AAA”.
