  • d13slideshow for WordPress and "URL file-access is disabled"

    - by windyjonas
I'm taking my chances with WordPress 3.0 beta 1 (single user) Unfortunately, i ran into problems with d13slideshow. I configured the plugin to display 5 latest from a category, added <?php d13slideshow(); ?> to home.php, but it bombed: function.getimagesize: URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration in /<snip>/wp-content/plugins/d13slideshow/d13slideshow.php on line 538 Warning: getimagesize(http://<snip>/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/featured-2-580x386.jpg) function.getimagesize: failed to open stream: no suitable wrapper could be found in /<snip>/wp-content/plugins/d13slideshow/d13slideshow.php on line 538 Is this a problem with the php setup or is there something I can do with the plugin or the function call from the template files to make it work? http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/d13slideshow/

  • UIButton to be resized

    - by Sathiya
I am using a UIButton in my application. This button title is displayed dynamically as per the user choice. Now i have to resize the button width as per the title content. I am calculating the string length and assigning it to button's width. the button is resized as per title but the problem is as follows, 1. If at first the title with large content is shown and after that if a title with a small content is shown means the button is overwritten it doesn't remove the previously constructed value. 2. it looks as if one button is overlapped on the another.

  • Problem With View Helpers

    - by Richard Knop
    I wrote few custom view helpers but I have a little trouble using them. If I add the helper path in controller action like this: public function fooAction() { $this->view->addHelperPath('My/View/Helper', 'My_View_Helper'); } Then I can use the views from that path without a problem. But when I add the path in the bootstrap file like this: protected function _initView() { $this->view = new Zend_View(); $this->view->doctype('XHTML1_STRICT'); $this->view->headScript()->appendFile($this->view->baseUrl() . '/js/jquery-ui/jquery.js'); $this->view->headMeta()->appendHttpEquiv('Content-Type', 'text/html; charset=UTF-8'); $this->view->headMeta()->appendHttpEquiv('Content-Style-Type', 'text/css'); $this->view->headMeta()->appendHttpEquiv('Content-Language', 'sk'); $this->view->headLink()->appendStylesheet($this->view->baseUrl() . '/css/reset.css'); $this->view->addHelperPath('My/View/Helper', 'My_View_Helper'); } Then the view helpers don't work. Why is that? It's too troublesome to add the path in every controller action. Here is an example of how my custom view helpers look: class My_View_Helper_FooBar { public function fooBar() { return 'hello world'; } } I use them like this in views: <?php echo $this->fooBar(); ?> Should I post my whole bootstrap file? UPDATE: Added complete bootstrap file just in case: class Bootstrap extends Zend_Application_Bootstrap_Bootstrap { protected function _initFrontController() { $this->frontController = Zend_Controller_Front::getInstance(); $this->frontController->addModuleDirectory(APPLICATION_PATH . '/modules'); Zend_Controller_Action_HelperBroker::addPath( 'My/Controller/Action/Helper', 'My_Controller_Action_Helper' ); $this->frontController->registerPlugin(new My_Controller_Plugin_Auth()); $this->frontController->setBaseUrl('/'); } protected function _initView() { $this->view = new Zend_View(); $this->view->doctype('XHTML1_STRICT'); $this->view->headScript()->appendFile($this->view->baseUrl() . '/js/jquery-ui/jquery.js'); $this->view->headMeta()->appendHttpEquiv('Content-Type', 'text/html; charset=UTF-8'); $this->view->headMeta()->appendHttpEquiv('Content-Style-Type', 'text/css'); $this->view->headMeta()->appendHttpEquiv('Content-Language', 'sk'); $this->view->headLink()->appendStylesheet($this->view->baseUrl() . '/css/reset.css'); $this->view->addHelperPath('My/View/Helper', 'My_View_Helper'); } protected function _initDb() { $this->configuration = new Zend_Config_Ini(APPLICATION_PATH . '/configs/application.ini', APPLICATION_ENVIRONMENT); $this->dbAdapter = Zend_Db::factory($this->configuration->database); Zend_Db_Table_Abstract::setDefaultAdapter($this->dbAdapter); $stmt = new Zend_Db_Statement_Pdo($this->dbAdapter, "SET NAMES 'utf8'"); $stmt->execute(); } protected function _initAuth() { $this->auth = Zend_Auth::getInstance(); } protected function _initCache() { $frontend= array('lifetime' => 7200, 'automatic_serialization' => true); $backend= array('cache_dir' => 'cache'); $this->cache = Zend_Cache::factory('core', 'File', $frontend, $backend); } public function _initTranslate() { $this->translate = new Zend_Translate('Array', BASE_PATH . '/languages/Slovak.php', 'sk_SK'); $this->translate->setLocale('sk_SK'); } protected function _initRegistry() { $this->registry = Zend_Registry::getInstance(); $this->registry->configuration = $this->configuration; $this->registry->dbAdapter = $this->dbAdapter; $this->registry->auth = $this->auth; $this->registry->cache = $this->cache; $this->registry->Zend_Translate = $this->translate; } protected function _initUnset() { unset($this->frontController, $this->view, $this->configuration, $this->dbAdapter, $this->auth, $this->cache, $this->translate, $this->registry); } protected function _initGetRidOfMagicQuotes() { if (get_magic_quotes_gpc()) { function stripslashes_deep($value) { $value = is_array($value) ? array_map('stripslashes_deep', $value) : stripslashes($value); return $value; } $_POST = array_map('stripslashes_deep', $_POST); $_GET = array_map('stripslashes_deep', $_GET); $_COOKIE = array_map('stripslashes_deep', $_COOKIE); $_REQUEST = array_map('stripslashes_deep', $_REQUEST); } } public function run() { $frontController = Zend_Controller_Front::getInstance(); $frontController->dispatch(); } }

  • UIPopover Sizing

    - by Echilon
I have a UIPopoverController which I'm trying to show from a UIBarButtonItem in a navigation bar. Despite setting the resizing mask for the tableview inside the popover's content viewController, it takes up the whole height of the screen. The only thing which has any effect on the content size is menuPopover.contentViewController.view setFrame:CGRect. I'm using the code below to show the popover inside the left hand side of a UISplitViewController // menuPopover and editVc are properties on the parent viewController menuPopover = [[UIPopoverController alloc] initWithContentViewController:editVc]; [menuPopover presentPopoverFromBarButtonItem:btnMenu permittedArrowDirections:UIPopoverArrowDirectionAny animated:true]; [menuPopover setPopoverContentSize:CGSizeMake(400, 500) animated:true]; [menuPopover.contentViewController.view setFrame:CGRectMake(0,0,400, 500)]; Yet this is what I'm seeing. The arrow shows where the menu button was which showed the popover: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/545/screenshot20120312at191.png/ It's as though the content view is just expanding vertically.

  • Oracle's Sun Blade modular systems: Can they give VBlock a run for their money?

    - by llaszews
Check out these new hardware and software integrated solutions from Oracle Sun (they are not Exa* machines): http://www.oracle.com/us/products/servers-storage/servers/blades/index.html They offer a number of solutions not offered by VBlock: Oracle DB, Oracle WebLogic, OS and end to end management. Be interesting to see how much adoption these machines get given the long time VBlock has been around and the Exa* focused strategy at Oracle.

  • Opting out of `dragenter` and `dragover` events (html5)

    - by aaaidan
I have a collection of draggable "content" elements, and a root-level "feedback" UI element which is displayed above them to provide feedback during drag and drop. The problem is, during the drag operation, hovering over the "feedback" element causes the dragenter and dragover events to be fired on that element, rather than the underlying content element. It effectively "blocks" the dragenter event from firing on the correct element. Is there a way for an element to cancel, or "opt out" of a dragenter/dragover event? I could display the feedback element underneath the content, but I'd rather not do that. jsFiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/jact8/1/ I'm using the HTML drag/drop api, not jQuery or anything like that.

  • SimpleXML adding html into Hash tree

    - by Miriam Raphael Roberts
Question: I have an xml file that I am pulling from the web and parsing. One of the items in the xml is a 'content' value that has HTML. I am using SimpleXML/XMLin to parse the file like so: $xml= eval { $data-XMLin($xmldata, forcearray = 1, suppressempty= +'') }; When I use Dumper to dump the hash, I dsicovered that SimpleXML is parsing the HTML into the hash tree. 'content' => { 'div' => [ { 'xmlns' => 'http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml', 'p' => [ { 'a' => [ { 'href' => 'http://miamiherald.typepad.com/.a/6a00d83451b26169e20133ec6f4491970b-pi', 'style' => 'FLOAT: left', 'img' => [ etc..... This is not what I want. I want to just grab content inside of this entry. How do I do this?

  • C# Algorithms for * Operator

    - by Harsha
I was reading up on Algorithms and came across the Karatsuba multiplication algorithm and a little wiki-ing led to the Schonhage-Strassen and Furer algorithms for multiplication. I was wondering what algorithms are used on the * operator in C#? While multiplying a pair of integers or doubles, does it use a combination of algorithms with some kind of strategy based on the size of the numbers? How could I find out the implementation details for C#?

  • Footer height based on screen size

    - by o-logn
Hi everyone, I would like to create a footer which is relative to the content (so not fixed), but fills the rest of the screen. So for example, on my larger monitor, the footer would start in the same place, but fill up 100px (for example). On a smaller monitor, it only needs to fill up 75px. I tried using 100%, but it causes the page to be really big and the user can scroll down and fill the entire screen with the footer. Is there a way to get it to be a bit more reasonable size, so that it just about fills the bottom of the screen? My current code is this: .footer { position:relative; //can't be fixed as content might overlap if extended height:100%; width:100%; //fill the entire screen horizontally bottom:0px; margin-top:345px; //used to make sure content doesn't overlap } Thanks for any ideas

  • The State of the Internet -- Retail Edition

    - by David Dorf
Over at Business Insider, there's a great presentation on the State of the Internet done in the Mary Meeker style.  Its 138 slides so I took the liberty of condensing it down to the 15 slides that directly apply to the retail industry.  However, I strongly recommend looking at the entire deck when you have time.  And while you're at it, Business Insider just launched a retail portal that's dedicated to retail industry content.  Please check it out as well.  My take-aways are below after the slide show. &amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;span id=&amp;amp;amp;amp;quot;XinhaEditingPostion&amp;amp;amp;amp;quot;&amp;amp;amp;amp;gt;&amp;amp;amp;amp;lt;/span&amp;amp;amp;amp;gt; [Source: Business Insider] Here are a few things I took away from the statistics: Facebook and Twitter are in their infancy.  While all retailers should have social programs, search is still the driver and therefore should receive the lions share of investment.  Facebook referrals are up 92% year-over-year, but Google still does 80% of the referrals. E-commerce continues to grow at breakneck speed, but in-store commerce is still king. Stores are not showrooms yet.  And social commerce pure-plays like Gilt and Groupon are tiny but worthy of some attention. There are more smartphones than PCs on the internet, and the disparity will continue to grow. PC growth will be flat and Tablet use will continue to grow. Mobile accounts for 12% of all internet traffic. A quarter of smartphone sales come from China, so anyone with a presence there better have a strong mobile strategy. 38% of people have used their smartphone to make a purchase, and many use their smartphones inside stores.  Smartphones are a critical consumer tool for shopping. Mobile is starting to drive significant traffic to e-commerce sites, especially tablets.  Tablet strategies are crucial for retailers. Mobile payments from the likes of Paypal and Square are growing quickly.  It will be interesting to see how NFC plays in this area. Mobile operating systems are losing market share to iOS and Android.  I wonder in Microsoft can finally make a dent? The internet is being dominated by mobile devices, and retailers had better have a strong mobile strategy to meet consumer demand.

  • Impatient Customers Make Flawless Service Mission Critical for Midsize Companies

    - by Richard Lefebvre
At times, I can be an impatient customer. But I’m not alone. Research by The Social Habit shows that among customers who contact a brand, product, or company through social media for support, 32% expect a response within 30 minutes and 42% expect a response within 60 minutes! 70% of respondents to another study expected their complaints to be addressed within 24 hours, irrespective of how they contacted the company. I was intrigued when I read a recent blog post by David Vap, Group Vice President of Product Development for Oracle Service Cloud. It’s about “Three Secrets to Innovation” in customer service. In David’s words: 1) Focus on making what’s hard simple 2) Solve real problems for real people 3) Don’t just spin a good vision. Do something about it  I believe midsize companies have a leg up in delivering on these three points, mainly because they have no other choice. How can you grow a business without listening to your customers and providing flawless service? Big companies are often weighed down by customer service practices that have been churning in bureaucracy for years or even decades. When the all-in-one printer/fax/scanner I bought my wife for Christmas (call me a romantic) failed after sixty days, I wasted hours of my time navigating the big brand manufacturer’s complex support and contact policies only to be offered a refurbished replacement after I shipped mine back to them. There was not a happy ending. Let's just say my wife still doesn't have a printer.  Young midsize companies need to innovate to grow. Established midsize company brands need to innovate to survive and reach the next level. Midsize Customer Case Study: The Boston Globe The Boston Globe, established in 1872 and the winner of 22 Pulitzer Prizes, is fighting the prevailing decline in the newspaper industry. Businessman John Henry invested in the Globe in 2013 because he, “…believes deeply in the future of this great community, and the Globe should play a vital role in determining that future”. How well the paper executes on its bold new strategy is truly mission critical—a matter of life or death for an industry icon. This customer case study tells how Oracle’s Service Cloud is helping The Boston Globe “do something about” and not just “spin” it’s strategy and vision via improved customer service. For example, Oracle RightNow Chat Cloud Service is now the preferred support channel for its online environments. The average e-mail or phone call can take three to four minutes to complete while the average chat is only 30 to 40 seconds. It’s a great example of one company leveraging technology to make things simpler to solve real problems for real people. • jQuery Mobile ScrollView "initialization"

    - by Fabio B.
I'm using the scrollview experimental feature of jQuery Mobile: <div class="carousel" data-scroll="xp"> ... my position:absolute very large div ... </div> as described here: http://jquerymobile.com/test/experiments/scrollview/ Now I need to change the ".carousel" content dynamically: I make an ajax call in order to retrieve my new scrollview content. The content loads and shows in my div correctly, but it's not scrollable anymore! How can I rebind my "carousel" to its scrolling original behavior? Does a ".scrollview()" function actually exist? Thank you

  • XML over HTTP with JMS and Spring

    - by Will Sumekar
I have a legacy HTTP server where I need to send an XML file over HTTP request (POST) using Java (not browser) and the server will respond with another XML in its HTTP response. It is similar to Web Service but there's no WSDL and I have to follow the existing XML structure to construct my XML to be sent. I have done a research and found an example that matches my requirement here. The example uses HttpClient from Apache Commons. (There are also other examples I found but they use java.net networking package (like URLConnection) which is tedious so I don't want to use them). But it's also my requirement to use Spring and JMS. I know from Spring's reference that it's possible to combine HttpClient, JMS and Spring. My question is, how? Note that it's NOT in my requirement to use HttpClient. If you have a better suggestion, I'm welcome. Appreciate it. For your reference, here's the XML-over-HTTP example I've been talking about: /* * $Header: * $Revision$ * $Date$ * ==================================================================== * * Copyright 2002-2004 The Apache Software Foundation * * Licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0 (the "License"); * you may not use this file except in compliance with the License. * You may obtain a copy of the License at * * http://www.apache.org/licenses/LICENSE-2.0 * * Unless required by applicable law or agreed to in writing, software * distributed under the License is distributed on an "AS IS" BASIS, * WITHOUT WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF ANY KIND, either express or implied. * See the License for the specific language governing permissions and * limitations under the License. * ==================================================================== * * This software consists of voluntary contributions made by many * individuals on behalf of the Apache Software Foundation.
