• Awk filtering values between two files when regions intersect (any solutions welcome)

  This is building upon an earlier question Awk conditional filter one file based on another (or other solutions) I have an awk program that outputs a column from rows in a text file 'refGene.txt if values in that row match 2 out of 3 values in another text file. I need to include an additional criteria for finding a match between the two files. The criteria is inclusion if the range of the 2 numberical values specified in each row in file 1 overlap with the range of the two values in a row in refGene.txt. An example of a line in File 1: chr1 10 20 chr2 10 20 and an example line in file 2(refGene.txt) of the matching columns ($3, $5, $ 6): chr1 5 30 Currently the awk program does not treat this as a match because although the first column matches neither the 2nd or 3rd columns do no. But I would like a way to treat this as a match because the region 10-20 in file 1 is WITHIN the range of 5-30 in refGene.txt. However the second line in file 1 should NOT match because the first column does not match, which is necessary. If there is a way to include cases when any of the range in file 1 overlaps with any of the range in refGene.txt that would be really helpful. It should also replace the below conditional statements as it would also find all the cases currently described below. Please let me know if my question is unclear. Any help is really appreciated, thanks it advance!   Why am I getting a compile time error for the two method headers at the end of my code in my class ArrayListTest? • Best way to store list of numbers and to retrieve them

  Hi. What is the best way to store a list of random numbers (like lotto/bingo numbers) and retrieve them? I'd like to store on a Database a number of rows, where each row contains 5-10 numbers ranging from 0 to 90. I will store a big number of those rows. What I'd like to be able is to retrieve the rows that have at least X number in common to a newly generated row. Example: [3,4,33,67,85,99] [55,56,77,89,98,99] [3,4,23,47,85,91] Those are on the DB I will generate this: [1,2,11,45,47,88] and now I want to get the rows that have at least 1 number in common with this one. The easiest (and dumbest?) way is to make 6 select and check for similar results. I thought to store numbers with a large binary string like 000000000000000000000100000000010010110000000000000000000000000 with 99 numbers where each number represent a number from 1 to 99, so if I have 1 at the 44th position, it means that I have 44 on that row. This method is probably shifting the difficult tasks to the Db but it's again not very smart. Any suggestion?

  My problem is in somewhere between model and controller.Everything works perfect for me when I use MVC just for crud (create, read, update, delete).I have separate models for each database table .I access these models from controller , to crud them . For example , in contacts application,I have actions (create, read, update, delete) in controller(contact) to use model's (contact) methods (create, read, update, delete). The problem starts when I try to do something more complicated. There are some complex processes which I do not know where should I put them. For example , in registering user process. I can not just finish this process in user model because , I have to use other models too (sending mails , creating other records for user via other models) and do lots of complex validations via other models. For example , in some complex searching processes , I have to access lots of models (articles, videos, images etc.) Or, sometimes , I have to use apis to decide what I will do next or which database model I will use to record data So where is the place to do this complicated processes. I do not want to do them in controllers , Because sometimes I should use these processes in other controllers too. And I do not want to put these process in models because , I use models as database access layers .May be I am wrong,I want to know . Thank you for your answer .

• Python DictReader - Skipping rows with missing columns?

  heya, I have a Excel .CSV file I'm attempting to read in with DictReader. All seems to be well, except it seems to omit rows, specifically those with missing columns. Our input looks like: mail,givenName,sn,lorem,ipsum,dolor,telephoneNumber [email protected],ian,bay,3424,8403,2535,+65(2)34523534545 [email protected],mike,gibson,3424,8403,2535,+65(2)34523534545 [email protected],ross,martin,,,,+65(2)34523534545 [email protected],david,connor,,,,+65(2)34523534545 [email protected],chris,call,3424,8403,2535,+65(2)34523534545 So some of the rows have missing lorem/ipsum/dolor columns, and it's just a string of commas for those. We're reading it in with: def read_gd_dump(input_file="blah 20100423.csv"): gd_extract = csv.DictReader(open('blah 20100423.csv'), restval='missing', dialect='excel') return dict([(row['something'], row) for row in gd_extract]) And I checked that "something" (the key for our dict) isn't one of the missing columns, I had originally suspected it might be that. It's one of the columns after that. However, DictReader seems to completely skip over the rows. I tried setting restval to something, didn't seem to make any difference. I can't seem to find anything in Python's CSV docs (http://docs.python.org/library/csv.html) that would explain this behaviour, but I may have misread something. Any ideas? Thanks, Victor

• loops and conditionals inside triggers

  I have this piece of logic I would like to implement as a trigger, but I have no idea how to do it! I want to create a trigger that, when a row is deleted, it checks to see if the value of one of its columns exists in another table, and if it does, it should also perform a delete on another table based on another column. So say we had a table Foo that has columns Bar, Baz. This is what id be doing if i did not use a trigger: function deleteFromFooTable(FooId) { SELECT (Bar,Baz) FROM FooTable WHERE id=FooId if not-empty(SELECT * FROM BazTable WHERE id=BazId) DELETE FROM BarTable WHERE id=BarId DELETE FROM FooTable WHERE id=FooId } I jumped some hoops in that pseudo code, but i hope you all get where im going. It seems what i would need is a way to do conditionals and to loop(in case of multiple row deletes?) in the trigger statement. So far, I haven't been able to find anything. Is this not possible, or is this bad practice? Thanks!

  I have an array set up Dim managerList(1 To 50, 1 To 100) As String what I am trying to do, is set the first, second, and third elements in the row managerList(index,1) = tempManagerName managerList(index,2) = tempIdeaNumber managerList(index,3) = 1 But get an error when I try to do that saying that the object variable is not set. I maintain index as an integer, and the value corresponds to a single manager, but I can't seem to manually set the third element. The first and second elements set correctly. On the flip side, I have the following code that will allow for the element to be set, For x=1 To 50 If StrConv(tempManagerName,3) = managerList(x,1) Then found = x For y=3 to 100 If managerList(x,y) = "" Then managerList(x,y) = tempIdeaNumber Exit for End If Next Exit For End If Next It spins through the array (laterally) trying to find an empty element. Ideally I would like to set the index of the element the y variable is on into the 3rd element in the row, to keep a count of how many ideas are on the row. What is the best way to keep a count like this? Any idea why I am getting a Object variable not set error when I try to manually set the element?

• DB2 Child Table Not Working - Create Table

  I have a bit of a task before me. (DB2 Database) I need to create a table that will be a child table (is that what it is called in SQL?) I need it so that it has a foreign key constraint with my other table, so when the parent table is modified (record deleted) the child table also loses that record. Once I have the table, I also need to populate it with the data from the other table (if there is an easy way to UPDATE this). If you could point me in the right direction, this would help alot, as I do not even know what syntax to look for. • MySQL: order by and limit gives wrong result

  MySQL ver 5.1.26 I'm getting the wrong result with a select that has where, order by and limit clauses. It's only a problem when the order by uses the id column. I saw the MySQL manual for LIMIT Optimization My guess from reading the manual is that there is some problem with the index on the primary key, id. But I don't know where I should go from here... Question: what should I do to best solve the problem? • ploting 3d graph in matlab?

  Hello, I am currently a begineer, and i am using matlab to do a data analysis. I have a a text file with data at the first row is formatted as follow: time;wave height 1;wave height 2;....... I have column until wave height 19 and rows total 4000 rows. Data in the first column is time in second. From 2nd column onwards, it is wave height elevation which is in meter. At the moment I like to ask matlab to plot a 3d graph with time on the x axis, wave elevation on the y axis, and wave elevation that correspond to wave height number from 1 to 19, i.e. data in column 2 row 10 has a let say 8m which is correspond to wave height 1 and time at the column 1 row 10. I have try the following: clear; filename='abc.daf'; path='C:\D'; a=dlmread([path '\' filename],' ', 2, 1); [nrows,ncols]=size(a); t=a(1:nrows,1);%define t from text file for i=(1:20), j=(2:21); end wi=a(:,j); for k=(2:4000), l=k; end r=a(l,:); But everytime i use try to plot them, the for loop wi works fine, but for r=a(l,:);, the plot only either give me the last time data only but i want all data in the file to be plot.   I am not clear how to express my problem correctly in the question so forgive me if I am not able to properly convey my problem. I have achieved this by using the following line of code, HtmlNodeCollection headerNodes = doc.DocumentNode.SelectNodes("//tr[@class='header']"); Now I have all the header rows in the collection. Now I loop through all the header nodes and I want to get the table rows which are adjacent to the respective header rows. foreach (HtmlNode node in headerNodes) { HtmlNodeCollection itemNodes = ??? } My question is that what I should write here so that for header row with text "Random Value 1" I get the item rows 1,2 and 3. Similarly for header row with text "Random Value 2" I get the item row 4,5 and 6 and so on.

  I have an n-layered asp.net application which returns an object from my DAL to the BAL like so: public IEnumerable<SourceKey> Get(SourceKey sk) { var query = from SourceKey in _dataContext.SourceKeys select SourceKey; if (sk.sourceKey1 != null) { query = from SourceKey in query where SourceKey.sourceKey1 == sk.sourceKey1 select SourceKey; } return query.AsEnumerable(); } This result passes through my business layer and hits the UI layer to display to the end users. I do not lazy load to prevent query execution in other layers of my application. I created another function in my DAL to delete objects: public void Delete(SourceKey sk) { try { _dataContext.DeleteObject(sk); _dataContext.SaveChanges(); } catch (Exception ex) { Debug.WriteLine(ex.Message + " " + ex.StackTrace + " " + ex.InnerException); } } When I try to call "Delete" after calling the "Get" function, I receive this error: New transaction is not allowed because there are other threads running in the session This is an ASP.Net app. My DAL contains an entity data model. The class in which I have the above functions share the same _dataContext, which is instantiated in my constructor. My guess is that the reader is still open from the "Get" function and was not closed. How can I close it?

• Set the selected item for a combobox in a datagrid

  I am using a datagrid which has many combobox fields in it, when I click the datagrid combobox the selected item or highlighted value is the last item in the list, but I would like it to highlight the first(top) item in the list. I know for just a combobox, all I need to do is change the combobox.selecteditem or combobox.selectedindex, but I'm not sure what to do in this case. I have binded the combobox to a table in the database and used a datatable to store the combobox values and then I add a row to the datatable, I think the reason the last item in the combobox is highlighted is because I added a row to the datatable. • Advanced ASP.NET Gridview Layout

  So i had a feature request to add fields to a second table row for a single data row on a GridView. At first, I looked at extending the functionality of the GridView but soon realized this would be a huge task and since I consider this request a shim for a larger future feature decided against it. Also want to move to MVC in the near future and this would be throw away code.   I need to get the number of rows of a query (so I can paginate results).   I have an array of checkboxes that I edit at once to set up a 'tinyint' field. the problem comes in when i uncheck the checkbox and post the vales to mysql. since it posts an array of checkboxes and another parallel array of values to edit, unchecking a checkbox results in the 0 value been ignored by PHP_POST and hence the checkbox array will be less by the number of unchecked values in the form while the array to be edited will have all the records in the form. here is the submit code while($row=mysql_fetch_array($result)) { $checked = ($row[active]==1) ? • Two way sync with rsync

  I have a folder a/ and a remote folder A/. I now run something like this on a Makefile: get-music: rsync -avzru server:/media/10001/music/ /media/Incoming/music/ put-music: rsync -avzru /media/Incoming/music/ server:/media/10001/music/ sync-music: get-music put-music when I make sync-music, it first gets all the diffs from server to local and then the opposite, sending all the diffs from local to server. This works very well only if there are just updates or new files on the future. If there are deletions, it doesn't do anything. In rsync there is --delete and --delete-after options to help accomplish what I want but thing is, it doesn't work on a 2-way-sync. If I want to delete server files on a syn, when local files have been deleted, it works, but if, for some reason (explained after) I have some files that aren't in the server but exist locally and they were deleted, I want locally to remove them and not server copied (as it happens). Thing is I have 3 machines in context: desktop notebook home-server So, sometimes, server will have files that were deleted with a notebook sync, for example and then, when I run a sync with my desktop (where the deleted server files still exist on) I want these files to be deleted and not to be copied again to the server. I guess this is only possible with a database and track of operations :P Any simple solutions? Thank you.

• question about MySQL database migration

  Hi there: If I have a MySQL database with several tables on a live server, now I would like to migrate this database to another server. Of course, the migration I mean here involves some database tables, for example: add some new columns to several tables, add some new tables etc.. Now, the only method I can think of is to use some php/python(two scripts I know) script, connect two databases, dump the data from the old database, and then write into the new database. However, this method is not efficient at all. For example: in old database, table A has 28 columns; in new database, table A has 29 columns, but the extra column will have default value 0 for all the old rows. My script still needs to dump the data row by row and insert each row into the new database. Is there any tools or a better method than writing a script yourself? Here, I dont need to worry about multithread writing problems etc.., I mean the old database will be down (not open to public usage etc.., only for upgrade ) for a while. Thanks!!

• Using SHFileOperation: What errors are occuring

  Hello I am using the function SHFileOperation() to send a file to the recycling bin. And I am getting 2 errors that I do not know what they mean because with this function the error codes are not GetLastError() values. Now when the function SHFileOperation() fails the return values are 0x57 (decimal 87) & 0x2 (decimal 2). Can you help me discover the definitions of these errors (expecially when you consider with this function, the errors are not part of the GetLastError() codes). Some important information: • I am using Windows 7 (& I know that MSDN says to use IFileOperation instead of SHFileOperation but I want to make my app backwards compatable which is why I am using SHFileOperation). If the error is occuring because I am using SHFileOperation on Windows 7 what solution could I use to make this work on all versions of windows from 2000 & up? • I have debugged extensively & as far as I know my SHFILEOPSTRUCT is correct (correct flags used, .pFrom is a double-null ended string).
