• WiX - create a bootstrap that passes arguments to the msiexec

  I need to create a bootstrap for my WiX project I've tried using setupbld.exe but it will only allow me to create an executable that will show my UI or one that will behave as a silent installer but not both. I need to be able to run the resulting executable with argument that will tell it wether or not to show the UI during installation. I've found this post by John Robbins that explains how to re-build the setup.exe stub used in the creation of the bootstrap but I was hoping there is a simpler way to do what I need. Does anyone know of a way to create a bootstrap that I use to run either as a simple (with UI) install or as a silent install.

• CentOS Client - Unable to Establish iSCSI connection with multiple interfaces on the initiator

  So after upgrading to CentOS 6.2, I am seemingly no longer able to login into my iSCSI targets. I have multiple interfaces on different subnets on the system, and I first thought that it had to do with the fact that I may not be binding correct interfaces, which seems to be the case when looking at netstat, as this is clearly wrong: [root]? netstat -na|grep .90 tcp 0 1 10.10.100.60:42354 10.10.8.90:3260 SYN_SENT tcp 0 1 10.10.100.60:40777 10.10.9.90:3260 SYN_SENT I then went ahead and disabled all but one interface, and so as a result netstat appears to be correct, but the issue with login remains. I am positive that the target never sees a packet, because I see nothing by SYN_SENT. I know the problem is on my client, because the target is servicing multiple systems, none of which are CentOS 6.2. At this point I am pretty confident that some things changed between CentOS 6.0/6.1 and 6.2. So, if anyone have any thoughts, or ran into this, I would very much like to hear your thoughts. I went a few weeks back and grabbed a snapshot of this system from before upgrading to 6.2. I spun up a new system from the snapshot, and reconfigured interface info and host keys, as well as iSCSI initiator and iscsi interface info to match new MACs. Changed nothing else. Then, I attempted to connect to my targets, and no issues at all. I cannot say that this was unexpected. I then went ahead and compared sysctl settings from both systems and there were differences after the upgrade, but nothing seemingly relevant to iSCSI or IP that could contribute to this. I also noticed that by default now two sessions per connection were enabled after the upgrade, but I changed it back to 1 session in /etc/iscsi/iscsid.conf. On the problematic system we can see that source interface is seemingly wrong, but even when I disable the 10.10.100 interface, problems persist. So, while this may be relevant, I could not validate it for certain. Needless to say, further research is necessary. Something is clearly different between releases. It is quite obscure and I doubt this will happen to anyone else any time soon. It turns out that setting iface.iscsi_ifacename and iface.hwaddress in the interfaces configuration file is not legal. When one manually adds an iscsi target, such as below, all settings from the interface config file are copied into the node config file, that gets created by the below command. Result is parameters iface.iscsi_ifacename and iface.hwaddress together in the same config file. These parameters are seemingly mutually exclusive, which does not exactly make sense, or there is perhaps an oversight in the codepath.   Hello again. I'm in the process of designing and testing various ideas for an application whose main functionality will be to notify users of occurring events and offer them with a choice of actions for each. The standard choice would be to create a queue of events showing a popup in the taskbar with the events and actions, but I want this tool to be the less intrusive and disrupting as possible. What I'm after is a good book or papers on studies of how to maximize user productivity in these intrinsically disruptive scenarios (in other words, how to achieve the perfect degree of annoying-ness, not too much, not too little). The user is supposedly interested in these events, they subscribe to them and can choose the actions to perform on each. I prefer books and papers, but the usual StackOverflow wisdom is appreciated as well. I'm after things like: Don't use popups, use instead X Show popups at most 3 seconds Show them in the left corner Use color X because it improves readability and disrupts less That is, cognitive aspects of GUI design that would help users in such a scenario.

• How do I wait for "animated scroll to id" to complete before focusing on first form field?

  So, I have a link at the bottom of website. When it is clicked, it scrolls to a form at the top of the page with the animated style. And as it arrives at top of page, it focuses on the first field in form. Currently, this is my code: $(document).ready(function() { $('#goto-show-form').click(function() { $('html, body').animate({scrollTop: $("#show-form").offset().top}, '500'); $('#first-field').focus(); return false; }); }); What happens is it begins scrolling, then focuses to form field while still in process of scrolling, then returns to last position in scrolling process and continues scrolling up. Instead of being smooth, you can see it cuts back and forth. How can I tell jquery to wait until scrolling is complete before focusing to the form field? • Rebinding jQuery qtip tooltip on images in bxcarousel

  Hi, Our client enironment recently migrated from word 2000 to 2003, we use the below code in one of the templates to show the word's default insert file dialog box. Word is integrated with another third party application Hummingbird docspen. With Dialogs(wdDialogInsertFile) .Name = "q:*.*" .Show End With In old environment it opens up the default insertfile dialog box pointing to my documents folder, where as in word 2003, it opens up the Docsopen insertfile dialog box. I have compared the settings of word 2000 and 2003 it seems to be same. Any suggestions on this please.

• Background image for list view still shows white behind text for cells.

  I wanted to put a background image partially visible behind a list view. I created a list view in my nib with an image view behind it and made the list view background 20% opacity. This allows the background image to show thru but my text in the cells show a white background behind and if I create the cells in cellForRowAtIndexPath the cells have a white background too. I am creating and setting the cell textLabel and the detailTextLabel in the cellForRowAtIndexPath event. Not sure how to get rid of that, or if there is a better way to do the background image.

• TableView frame not resizing properly when pushing a new view controller and the keyboard is hiding

  Hi, I must be missing something fundamental here. I have a UITableView inside of a NavigationViewController. When a table row is selected in the UITableView (using tableView:didSelectRowAtIndexPath:) I call pushViewController to display a different view controller. The new view controller appears correctly, but when I pop that view controller and return the UITableView is resized as if the keyboard was being displayed. I need to find a way to have the keyboard hide before I push the view controller so that the frame is restored correctly. If I comment out the code to push the view controller then the keyboard hides correctly and the frame resizes correctly. I have added NSLog statements and see things happening in the log file as follows: Show Keyboard ViewWillDisappear: Hiding Keyboard Hide Keyboard Keyboard Hide Finished PushViewController (an NSLog entry at the point I push the new view controller) From this trace, I can see things happening in the right order, but It seems like when the view controller is pushed that the keyboard hide code does not execute properly. Any ideas would be really appreciated. I have been banging my head against the keyboard for a while trying to find out what I am doing wrong.

  When I try to run my first application with the debugger, I get a pop up which says: Visual C__ 2008 Express Edition This project is out of date: ProgName - Debug Win32 Would you like to build it? [Yes[ [No] [Cancel] [ ] Do not show this dialog again? I find this somewhat bothersome, because the very last thing that I did just before that was build the application. And the build did complete successfully (immediately before I clicked on Start Debugging -- F5.) The second time I pressed with wrong cilck on the Answer [No] on the same msg Now, I can't compile my apps What exactly does "do not show this dialog again" mean? It sounds to me like its going to remember my answer and use the same answer every time this situation occurs in the future. I did some stuffs like "Clean Solution" then "Build Solution" then "Start Debugging" ,but the same problem what's the solution ,how can I reset this message to make it work again .

  Hello, I have a system where registered users can vote up/vote down comment for a picture. Something very similar to SO's voting system. I store the votes in a table with values as such; vote_id | vote_comment_id | vote_user_id | vote_date | vote_type Now I have few a question concerned the speed and efficiency for the following; PROB: Once a user opens the picture page with comments I need, if that user has already voted UP/DOWN a comment to show it like; "you voted up" or "you voted down" next to the comment (in SO it the vote image is highlighted) MY POSSIBLE SOL: Right now when I open a picture page for each comment I loop thru, I loop thru my table of votes as well and check if a user has voted and show the status (I compare the vote_user_id with the user's session). How efficient is this? Anyone have a better approach to tackle this kind of problem?

• Dynamics AX 2009 Report: LabelPosition above does not work?

  I'm just in the process of changing the SalesInvoice Report. One thing I'm trying to do is show the label of some items not left of the item value but above it instead. Seems easy enough: just change the LabelPosition (for example from CustInvoiceJour_InvoiceId) setting from "left" to "above" and voila: the label has vanished. It is just shown nowhere at all. Strange. I would have expected the label to show up, well, above the content. Not to vanish. Am I missing something (there is no label height to set), or is this functionality broken?

  I've just read "Injecting Custom Logic in ADO.NET Data Services" and my next question is, How do you get your [WebGet] method to show up in the client-side proxy classes? Sure, I can call this directly (RESTfully) with, say, WebClient but I thought the strong typing features in ADO.NET Data Services would "hide" this from me auto-magically. • OpenNETCF DirectShowPlayerControl display is going black randomly when playing videos if the player

  I have a application that runs on touch enabled device with WinCE 3.5 OS. I have a show player control to display adds when the system is left idle for some configured amount of time.. So the DirectShowPlayerControl will be iniated every time the show player is launched and will be destroyed when it is closed... The player for the first time plays videos continuously for any amount of time. Once the player is destroyed and recreated the video are changing but the display goes black and in between if some small video is placed that alone is displayed. Whenever the form is closed am calling DirectShowPlayerControl.Dispose() method.

• How to load a UIView from a tap?

  Hi, I'm new to iPhone Development and I did some examples and seen code and code and more code but I still can't get the when the user taps here show this view using this animation, and go back after (user taps a back button) I did some Tab Bar examples, Utility examples, etc but when I start a project from scratch the code never does what I want :-/ every time I create a View (xib) I also create the controller (h and m files), as all examples are like this, and I have no idea if I can only create 4 Views and just have one controller :-( when a user taps a UITableCell how can I load a new view using an animation? and how can I go back to the UITableCell the user was? kind'a (in C#) myNewForm f = new myNewForm(); f.show(); ... this.Close(); If someone can share some knowledge or a tutorial or a screencast, I will greatly appreciate Thank you!

• Cocoa NSStatusBar Global HotKey

  I have created an NSStatusBar cocoa application which sits in the system status bar. I want to assign a hotkey so that when pressed it toggles my applications and show the menu. Is this possible?, In my searching and experimenting I have found a few different ways of assigning global hot keys that can be pressed when your application is in the background but I can't find any way to problematically make the menu show. Is this possible?, If anyone thinks a way of assigning a global hotkey is best please post it. Thanks. • Question on SyndicationItem - ASP.NET

  I am trying to understand how to use SyndicationItem to display feed which is RSS 2.0 or Atom compliant. What property of SyndicationItem gives me the entire description of the post. It appears that there is a Summary property but per MSDN, it gives only the Summary. Also I have noticed that in my RSS feed reader, some RSS feeds show only a few lines of description and I have to click and go to the website for the full post. But in some feeds, I can see the full post within the Feed Reader. Can someone explain how all this comes together? PS: My web page lets user enter a RSS feed address and I need to validate if the feed exists. If it does, I need to grab the last x items and show the feed's title and full description

• Core Data Image Won't Load Into NSTableView Image Cell

  In my code I am storing an image into my Core Data model (works fine). If I set up my view to have an NSImageView and bind its Data to Controller Key: selection and modelKeyPath: myImagePath, it works. It will show each image for the selected row. I then create a new column in my NSTableView and drag an image cell onto the column. However, I cannot get my Core Data bindings to have the image show up in the cell. I have tried binding both value and data, but no luck. Since I am sure the image is stored properly, what am I doing wrong in my binding to prevent the image from showing up in the table cell? Thanks so much. (My background: new Cocoa developer who has recently gone through the entire Hillegass book.)

  I would like to show in dialog all elements with specific class. The dialog should hide the rest of the page. So for example: On this SO page I want to show all elements with class="user-info". Those elements would be shown in dialog with same width and height and same css and everything else would be hidden. It would be like cutting them out of the page and pasting them in a dialog. Any ideas how this could be done?
