  • For business people to manage, keep binary images in MySQL or just the urls?

    Hello everyone: I am working on a task to enable image uploading and auto-scaling(from full sized to thumbnail) by jQuery & PHP. I can naturally come up with two approaches : First, store both images as binary objects directly into MySQL; Second, store only urls to the images and keep the images somewhere on server. The images are for everyone to view, so there are no security restrictions, as far as I know. Personally I don't have any preference, however, at the end of the day, it is the business people that are going to manage the images as part of the system(CRUD). So I am wondering which seems to be a bit better for them? Of course I am building a easy-to-use, visualize web interface for the staff to control the process, but I am not sure if that is enough. Lessons told me that if I don't think for the future and seek the most flexible approach, the I will probably screw myself sooner or later. PS.     how can i have python move to the top of an if statement if nothing is satisfied correctly i have a basic if/else statement like this: print "pick a number, 1 or 2" a = int(raw_input("> ") if a == 1: print "this" if a == 2: print "that" else: print "you have made an invalid choice, try again." what i want is to prompt the user to make another choice for 'a' this if statement without them having to restart the entire program, but am very new to python and am having trouble finding the answer online anywhere.

  • avoid textarea rows/cols error?

    I am using a few page validation tools one problem i have is they tell me textarea must have rows and cols attribute. If i am setting this in CSS or using display:none (and using it to hold raw text data) can i do something to skip? it seems like the only answer is rows="0" cols="0" each time i use it. But i have a feeling that is not a good solution.

    The answer to another SO question was to use this SQL query: SELECT o.Id, o.attrib1, o.attrib2 FROM table1 o JOIN ( SELECT DISTINCT Id FROM table1, table2, table3 WHERE ... ) T1 ON o.id = T1.Id Now I wonder how I can use this statement together with the keyword FOR UPDATE. If I simply append it to the query, Oracle will tell me: ORA-02014: cannot select FOR UPDATE from view Do I have to modify the query or is there a trick to do this with Oracle? With MySql the statement works fine.

Sample data { "data": { "userid": "17", "dates": { "timestame": "1275528578", }, "username": "harino54", } } Ok I can pull userid or username easy enough with echo "$t->userid" or echo "$t->username " but how do I pull data from the brackets within ? in this case timestame? cant seem to figure it out.. any ideas?

    I understand this is a subjective question, so I apologize if it needs to be closed, but I feel like it comes up often enough for me to wonder if there is a general preference for one form over the other. Obviously, the best answer is "refactor the code so you don't need to test for falsehood" but sometimes there's no easy way to do so and the "else" branch is simply to continue processing. So when you must have an "if not false" construct, which is the preferred standard: The not operator if(!value) Or the test for false if(value == false)

  • Tab bar controller in landscape mode

    Hi to all All my app is in landscape mode .In some point I switch to a screen with Tab Bar Controller , but it's been placed like in portrait mode.I subclassed the UITabBarController and override the method "shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation" to return YES always but because the app is already in landscape , this method is not being called. does anyway have an answer to this? thanks Giald

  • Decision region plot for neural network in matlab

    I have a neural network trained with backpropagation algorithm. I also create data set (input and target) random. Now I want to plot a decision region where each region is marked with a red star or with a blue circle according to whether it belongs to class 1 or -1.
