  I am using this code in which i am getting Placemark but it not giving the city name. • How do you build a Request-Response service using Asyncore in Python?

  I have a 3rd-party protocol module (SNMP) that is built on top of asyncore. The asyncore interface is used to process response messages. What is the proper technique to design a client that generate the request-side of the protocol, while the asyncore main loop is running. I can think of two options right now: Use the loop,timeout parameters of asyncore.loop() to allow my client program time to send the appropriate request. Create a client asyncore dispatcher that will be executed in the same asyncore processing loop as the receiver. What is the best option? I'm working on the 2nd solution, cause the protocol API does not give me direct access to the asyncore parameters. Please correct me if I've misunderstood the proper technique for utilizing asyncore.

• alternatives to System.Diagnostics.Process.Start when command is too long

  I have some code which is generating a rather long command that is being sent to System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(). The call fails with a Win32Exception, message "The filename or extension is too long". The path to the program itself is not very long, but the parameters passed in are quite long. I am calling the version where an instance of ProcessStartInfo is passed as the parameter, and in this case its the ProcessStartInfo.Arguments .Field that is very long. (other parameters: CreateNoWindow = true, UseShellExecute = false, RedirectStandardError = true). It looks like the exception is coming from a call to win32 function CreateProcess. Does anyone have an idea of another way to start the process?

  I have a class to read and output the image content, if $width is set, it will resize the image, and then output it. If I call the function like this $image-readImage('123.jpg'); , it can output the image file correctly, but when I call $image-readImage('123.jpg'); , it just display a black image with resized width & height.   I want to write a function that outputs something to a ostream that's passed in, and return the stream, like this: std::ostream& MyPrint(int val, std::ostream* out) { *out << val; return *out; } int main(int argc, char** argv){ std::cout << "Value: " << MyPrint(12, &std::cout) << std::endl; return 0; } It would be convenient to print the value like this and embed the function call in the output operator chain, like I did in main(). It doesn't work, however, and prints this: $ ./a.out 12Value: 0x6013a8 The desired output would be this: Value: 12 How can I fix this? Do I have to define an operator<< instead? UPDATE: Clarified what the desired output would be. UPDATE2: Some people didn't understand why I would print a number like that, using a function instead of printing it directly. This is a simplified example, and in reality the function prints a complex object rather than an int.

  Very basic question.. but I'm missing the point.. I have this data on my table: ID SITEID SECTION 1 1 posts 2 2 posts 3 1 aboutme 4 1 contact 5 2 questions The output is an array. I can't change it. I want to make this output on php with a single for loop with that array: <h1> sections for site 1 </h1> posts aboutme contact <h1>sections for site 2 </h1> posts questions I'm trying to do something like this, where $sectionsArray is my output. • How to Obtain Data to Pre-Populate Forms.

  The objective is to have a form reflect user's defined constraints on a search. At first, I relied entirely upon server-side scripting to achieve this; recently I tried to shift the functionality to JavaScript. On the server side, the search parameters are stored in a ColdFusion struct which makes it particularly convenient to have the data JSON'ed and sent to the client. Then it's just a matter of separately iterating over 'checkable' and text fields to reflect the user's search parameters; jQuery proved to be exceptionally effective in simplifying the workload. One observable difference lies in performance. The second method appeared to be somewhat slower and didn't work in IE8. Evidently, the returned JSON'ed struct was seen as an empty object. I'm sure it can be fixed, though before spending any more time with it, I'm curious to hear how others would approach the task. I'd gladly appreciate any suggestions. --Stan

  I get nothing out of appcfg.py besides the default output. I'm trying to upload some data to my development project with no luck at at all. From the instructions on the Google App Engine page the steps are as follows: Edit app.yaml update with appcfg.py make upload script upload with appcfg.py After step one I try to run the update and it never shows any success. The following commands product the same output: appcfg.py appcfg.py update appDir appcfg.py update appDir/ appcfg.py update /appDir If i try to follow the instructions from the appcfg.py output and type help upload and get: "help <action>" I get a response from the system, This command is not supported by the help utility. Try "update /?". cause I'm calling the system help command. If I use the command appcfg.py help upload I get the same result as just typing appcfg.py Can someone show me examples of the syntax to update the dev site, upload data to it and get appcfg.py to actually give help on its commands? Also I'm just assuming that the upload script and the .csv file that are being uploaded are in they myApp directory. Appreciate any help,

• Encoding h.264 with libavcodec/x264

  I am attempting to encode video using libavcodec/libavformat. I'm trying to change the standard output-example.c from ffmpeg source. The AVI file is created on the disk, but the only sound is encoded. I tried adding a lot of options for x264 from here. All the other codecs works fine, mpeg2, mpeg4, mjpeg, xvid. In addition to specifying the parameters x264, I also set the codec to AVOutputFormat structure. That's all I've done.   I have a endpoint mapping a webservice which is used to insert in the dabatabase some keywords: @Transactional(readOnly = false,isolation= Isolation.SERIALIZABLE) public Source saveKW(...). The input is a request. I would like to add an interceptor on the method in order to validate the parameters. this one will read some values from the DB. i would like that this interceptor is EMBED in the transaction declared for the endpoint (or this opposite). In other words, i want them to be in the same transaction. Ideally im looking for something like this with annotation: @Transactional(readOnly = false,isolation= Isolation.SERIALIZABLE) @validator("KeyWordValidaor.class") public Source saveKW(...) where KeyWordValidaor will be class validating the parameters. Have you any idea or short examples to implements this like this way or in a other real way?

  I've just tried to create the smallest possible language interpreter. Would you like to join and try? Rules of the game: You should specify a programming language you're interpreting. If it's a language you invented, it should come with a list of commands in the comments. Your code should start with example program and data assigned to your code and data variables. Your code should end with output of your result. It's preferable that there are debug statements at every intermediate step. Your code should be runnable as written. You can assume that data are 0 and 1s (int, string or boolean, your choice) and output is a single bit. The language should be Turing-complete in the sense that for any algorithm written on a standard model, such as Turing machine, Markov chains, or similar of your choice, it's reasonably obvious (or explained) how to write a program that after being executred by your interpreter performs the algorithm. The length of the code is defined as the length of the code after removal of input part, output part, debug statements and non-necessary whitespaces. Please add the resulting code and its length to the post. You can't use functions that make compiler execute code for you, such as eval(), exec() or similar. • What are the default values for arch and code options when using nvcc?

  When compiling your CUDA code, you have to select for which architecture your code is being generated. nvcc provides two parameters to specify this architecture, basically: arch specifies the virtual arquictecture, which can be compute_10, compute_11, etc. code specifies the real architecture, which can be sm_10, sm_11, etc. So a command like this: nvcc x.cu -arch=compute_13 -code=sm_13 Will generate 'cubin' code for devices with 1.3 compute capability. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Which I would like to know is which are the default values for these two parameters? Which is the default architecture that nvcc uses when no value for arch or code is specified?

• Threads, Sockets, and Designing Low-Latency, High Concurrency Servers

  I've been thinking a lot lately about low-latency, high concurrency servers. Specifically, http servers. http servers (fast ones, anyway) can serve thousands of users simultaneously, with very little latency. So how do they do it? As near as I can tell, they all use events. Cherokee and Lighttpd use libevent. Nginx uses it's own event library performing much the same function of libevent, that is, picking a platform optimal strategy for polling events (like kqueue on *bsd, epoll on linux, /dev/poll on Solaris, etc). They all also seem to employ a strategy of multiprocess or multithread once the connection is made - using worker threads to handle the more cpu intensive tasks while another thread continues to listen and handle connections (via events). This is the extent of my understanding and ability to grok the thousand line sources of these applications. What I really want are finer details about how this all works. In examples of using events I've seen (and written) the events are handling both input and output. To this end, do the workers employ some sort of input/output queue to the event handling thread? Or are these worker threads handling their own input and output? I imagine a fixed amount of worker threads are spawned, and connections are lined up and served on demand, but how does the event thread feed these connections to the workers? I've read about FIFO queues and circular buffers, but I've yet to see any implementations to work from. Are there any? Do any use compare-and-swap instructions to avoid locking or is locking less detrimental to event polling than I think? Or have I misread the design entirely? Ultimately, I'd like to take enough away to improve some of my own event-driven network services. Bonus points to anyone providing solid implementation details (especially for stuff like low-latency queues) in C, as that's the language my network services are written in.

  I need to implement a web app, but instead of using relational database I need to use different SOAP Web Services as a back-end. An important part of application only calls web services and displays the result. Since Web Services are clearly defined in form of Operation: In parameters and Return Type it seems to me that basic GUI could be easily constructed just like in the case of scaffolding based on Domain Entities. For example in case of SearchProducts web service operation I need to enter search parameters as input, so the search page can be constructed. Operation will return a list of products, so I need a page that will display this list in some kind of table. Is there already some library in grails that let you achieve this. If not, how would you go about creating one?

  After researching this online, I've only found solutions that don't apply to my problem, so please bear with me. Code snippet: typedef my_map_t<int const *, float> _test; my_map_t::const_iterator not_found = my_map_t::end(); if (_test.find(&iKeyValue) == not_found) { _test[iKeyValue] = 4 + 5; // not the actual code, but here for simplicity } The compiler complains that there's an ambiguous call to my_map_t::end(). This makes sense, because the only difference is the return type. Output: error C2668: 'std::_Tree<_Traits>::end' : ambiguous call to overloaded function Normally you can disambiguate the call by casting the parameters, but end() has no parameters. Any ideas?

• Do i *have* to use ObservableCollection in Silverlight WCF client?

  When accessing Silverlight in WCF you get proxies generated with ObservableCollection Thats fine when you're databinding, but a little clumsy when you're just calling a method. For instance the following service method : [OperationContract] public SearchOrdersMsgOut SearchOrders(ShippingStatusType[] shippingStatuses, string[] orderId) { } gets generated with ObservableCollection. What! They're just parameters. Why would I ever want to 'observe' them? I'm fine if I have to do this - but it seems like there should be a way to force simple array structures when I know I'm never databinding - especially on input messages. I'd much rather do this : searchCriteria.PaymentStatus = new [] { PaymentStatusType.PaymentFailed, PaymentStatusType.Unpaid }; than this : searchCriteria.PaymentStatus = new ObservableCollection<PaymentStatusType> { PaymentStatusType.PaymentFailed, PaymentStatusType.Unpaid }; Is there a way? PS. I do actually use a SearchCriteria object for my search criteria - but I simplified for this example wondering if parameters were handled differently.
