• Getting PCM values of WAV files

  I have a .wav mono file (16bit,44.1kHz) and im using this code below. If im not wrong, this would give me an output of values between -1 and 1 which i can apply FFT on ( to be converted to a spectrogram later on). However, my output is no where near -1 and 1. • Writing language converter in ANTLR

  I'm writing a converter between some dialects of the same programming language. I've found a grammar on the net - it's complex and handles all the cases. Now I'm trying to write the appropriate actions. Most of the input is just going to be rewritten to output. What I need to do is parse function calls, do my magic (rename function, reorder arguments, etc) and write it. I'm using AST as output. When I come across a function call, I build a custom object structure (from classes defined in my target language), call the appropriate function and I have a string that represents the transformed function that I want to get. The problem is, what I'm supposed to do with that string? I'd like to replace the .text attribute of the enclosing rule, but setText() is only available on lexer rules and the rule's .text attribute is read-only. • Calling PHP functions within HEREDOC strings

  In PHP, the HEREDOC string declarations are really useful for outputting a block of html. You can have it parse in variables just by prefixing them with $, but for more complicated syntax (like $var[2][3]), you have to put your expression inside {} braces. In PHP 5, it is possible to actually make function calls within {} braces inside a HEREDOC string, but you have to go through a bit of work. The function name itself has to be stored in a variable, and you have to call it like it is a dynamically-named function. For example: $fn = 'testfunction'; function testfunction() { return 'ok'; } $string = <<< heredoc plain text and now a function: {$fn()} heredoc; As you can see, this is a bit more messy than just: $string = <<< heredoc plain text and now a function: {testfunction()} heredoc; There are other ways besides the first code example, such as breaking out of the HEREDOC to call the function, or reversing the issue and doing something like: ?> <!-- directly outputting html and only breaking into php for the function --> plain text and now a function: <?PHP print testfunction(); ?> The latter has the disadvantage that the output is directly put into the output stream (unless I'm using output buffering), which might not be what I want. So, the essence of my question is: is there a more elegant way to approach this? Edit based on responses: It certainly does seem like some kind of template engine would make my life much easier, but it would require me basically invert my usual PHP style. Not that that's a bad thing, but it explains my inertia.. I'm up for figuring out ways to make life easier though, so I'm looking into templates now.

I'm trying to extend this code but I want to know if it's efficient or not (and how much this influences the speed) to encapsulate all the parameters in a struct like this struct PGTO { int len; double x,y,z ; double *acoefs } and then access the parameters in the function.

• Caching view-port based Geo-queries

  I have a web app with a giant Google Map in it. As users pan and zoom around on the map, points are dynamically loaded through AJAX call which include the viewport bounds (NE and SW corner coordinates) and some other assorted parameters. How do I cache these request for points? The problem is that the parameters are highly variable and (worst) not discrete i.e. floats with a lots of decimal places. I'm using ASP.NET-MVC/C#/LINQ2SQL/SQL-Server but the problem is not tied to that platform. • Noob question about a statement in a Java program

I am wondering why is there need for us to set it's value as false even when we know the code is gonna run without it too !?? I am wondering what the coder had in mind ..I mean what could be the possible future use and motive behind doing this ? I am sorry if it's a dumb question. I just wanna know why or why not to include that particular statement ? It's not like there's a loop or something that we need to come out of. Why is that statement there ?

  I'm using asserts_redirected_to in my unit tests, and I'm receiving this warning: DEPRECATION WARNING: Using assert_redirected_to with partial hash arguments is deprecated. Specify the full set arguments instead. What is a partial hash argument, and what is a full set argument? These aren't terms that I've seen used in the Rails community before, and the only relevant results I can find on Google for these are in reference to this deprecation warning. • [Iphone] - Problem in saving file using NSCoding

  Hi everybody, I've a problem with Iphone programming... I've a NSMutableArray containing object of type "MyClass". MyClass has some parameters, like NSNumber and NSString. I've followed the Apple Tutorial about coding and decoding object using NSCoding, but when I try to decode the file I've stored, the NSMutableArray contain object of type "MyClass", but with wrong parameters. I think i've done all I've to do (including protocol, including methods like initwithencode etc), but it's still not working... Any suggestions? Thanks a lot! And sorry for my English XD

• Error when calling SQL SP via LINQ

  Newbie problem: I have a SQL SP with ten parameters (eight input, two output) but when I attempt to call it via LINQ from code I get the following error message: "The best overloaded method match for 'DataClassesDataContext.ST_CR_CREATE_CASE_BASIS(string, string, string, string, System.DateTime?, string, string, string, ref int?, ref int?)' has some invalid arguments". The params with ? appear to be unrecognized, but I'm baffled: the data types match the SQL types, the number of parameters match, the other parmeters don't exhibit the same behaviour. • Where are my $_FILES? Ajax Uploading

If I output print_r($_POST), the parameters are sent properly, but only the file name of the image. So it seems the files themselves are not being sent along. How do I handle this? Thanks Rich

• Click edit button twice in gridview asp.net c# issue

  I have a gridview created on a page where I want to provide an edit button for the user to click in. However the issue is the grid view row becomes editable only while clicking the edit button second time. Not sure what is going wrong here, any help would be appreciated. One additional point is my grid view is displayed on the page only on a click of a button and is not there on page_load event hence.   I'm trying to understand if a DHT can be used to solve a problem I'm working on: I have a trading environment where professional option traders can get an increase in their risk limit by requesting that fellow traders lend them some of their risk limit. The lending trader will can either search for traders with certain risk parameters which are part of every trader's profile, i.e. Greeks, or the lending trader can subscribe to requests from certain traders. I want this environment to be scalable and decentralized, but I don't know how traders can search for specific profile parameters when the data is contained in a DHT. Could anybody explain how this can be done?

  I've build a custom WebControl, which has the following structure: <gws:ModalBox ID="ModalBox1" HeaderText="Title" runat="server"> <Contents>(controls...)</Contents> <Footer>(controls...)</Footer> </gws:ModalBox> The control contains two ControlCollection properties, 'Contents' and 'Footer'. Never tried to build a control with multiple control collections, but solved it like this (simplified): [PersistChildren(false), ParseChildren(true)] public class ModalBox : WebControl { private ControlCollection _contents; private ControlCollection _footer; public ModalBox() : base() { this._contents = base.CreateControlCollection(); this._footer = base.CreateControlCollection(); } [PersistenceMode(PersistenceMode.InnerProperty)] public ControlCollection Contents { get { return this._contents; } } [PersistenceMode(PersistenceMode.InnerProperty)] public ControlCollection Footer { get { return this._footer; } } protected override void RenderContents(HtmlTextWriter output) { // Render content controls. foreach (Control control in this.Contents) { control.RenderControl(output); } // Render footer controls. foreach (Control control in this.Footer) { control.RenderControl(output); } } } However it seems to render properly, it doesn't work anymore if I add some asp.net labels and input controls inside the property. I'll get the HttpException: Unable to find control with id 'KeywordTextBox' that is associated with the Label 'KeywordLabel'. Somewhat understandable, because the label appears before the textbox in the controlcollection. However, with default asp.net controls it does work, so why doesn't this work? What am I doing wrong? Is it even possible to have two control collections in one control? Should I render it differently? Thanks for replies.

  I plan on sending an email to 10k+ email addresses (mostly gmail and yahoo) to announce the launch of my startup's product. I'm planning on using PHPMailer or PHPList to send out the mails. I've never mass-mailed before and had a few basic questions. I've already browsed through some of the other mass-mail threads on this forum but the questions remain hence a new thread. Are newsletters which are sent by so many other organizations sent out in a similar manner - using programs such as PHPMailer or PHPList? When would a GMail or a Yahoo blacklist my domain name - are there any set parameters - 1000 emails in an hour would result in getting banned or some such parameters? If yes, then what sort of settings should I take note of when sending the emails - any format of the email or spread out the 10+ emails over 2 days etc.? If a Gmail or a Yahoo blacklists your domain name - is there any way to get out of the blacklist?

  I have a ListView displays information about an object. When I click a ListView Item, I open an Activity that let's me manipulate parameters of the object held in the adapter. These parameters are updated and stored remotely. When I return to the ListView (via the back button), I want to update the ListView Item that I clicked originally by requesting the parameter values from the remote server. I am currently doing this up updating the entire ListView by clearing it and rebuilding it. How do I reference the ListView Item so that I can update the data for that item only? Thanks, Jason

Using string.format starts to become difficult to comprehend. 2) How would you go about unit testing this code? It seems a little amateur just doing a string comparison looking for particular output in the string. 3) What about actually testing the eventual JavaScript output? Thanks for your input!

  I am looking for the most performant way to turn rows into columns. I have a requirement to output the contents of the db (not actual schema below, but concept is similar) in both fixed width and delimited formats. I should also point out I don't need to deal with the column names either since the output of the child rows will either be a fixed width string or a delimited string. • Modify url for bookmarking using JavaScript

  I'm exploring my options for modifying urls in the browser bar for bookmarking purposes. Ideally, I'd like to add querystring parameters and cannot determine if this is even possible. I don't want the page to refresh and want to add querystring values on link clicks, ajax calls, etc. If I can't add querystring parameters, then I'd like to add hash values (http:://someurl.com#hash-value). How should I go about doing this? Should I use plain JavaScript or a framework (jquery, prototype, etc.) and/or framework plugin.

When the page is rendered, the parameter names are stored (for example, hotel.id and user.username), and evaluated (as value expressions) when the page is submitted. You can't pass objects as parameters! But I had used objects as function parameters in my project before I accidentally read this hint and it worked! How is it possible? I'm afraid of that there is some magic now...

• Intent.getInt() doesn't work on ICS, but works on JB

  I use this code to send parameters when I start a new Activity: Intent inputForm = new Intent(getActivity(), InputForm.class); Bundle b = new Bundle(); b.putInt("item", Integer.parseInt(mItem.id)); //Your id inputForm.putExtras(b); //Put your id to your next Intent startActivity(inputForm); And I use this code for reading the parameters in the inputForm Activity: Bundle b = getIntent().getExtras(); if (b != null) { int value = b.getInt("item"); ID = value; } Toast.makeText(getApplication(), "MIJN ID:" + Integer.toString(ID), Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show(); When I run this code on my Samsung Tab 10.1 GT-P7510 ID is alsways 0, when I run the same code on my Galaxy S3 with JB the code just works fine.
