• how to get reply from jQuery.get request

  I have a page that uses the following to submit a AJAX request: function oc() { jQuery.get( "http://somewhere.com:5001/ajax/options/", jQuery('#selectform').serialize(), function(data,statusm,xml){ // I got nothing!!! return; } ); } If I make the request manual from the address bar, things work. And when I make the request from the JS I can see via logging that the server side is working correctly, but in the call back, I can't seem to get the contents of the reply. What am I going wrong?

  Hi, at this page new customer, there is something that it doesn't like, my boss asked me to make a show function that shows the new customer registration when the user clicks on the "ny kunde" button. Here is an example of the code I got working (I'm a jQuery noob). I guess there is some clash between this and the functions already installed on the page, but what? #roundbigboxnykunde is meant to be hidden on the page as on the jsfiddle example, but I have shown it to let you see what else is on the page. • Both Flash and Alternate Displaying In Firefox, Nothing but Errors in IE (sIFR)

  Hi guys, I've just installed and setup sIFR on my Magento store. An example page can be seen here: http://www.mint-creative.co.uk/shop And you can see it loads the heading brilliantly, but still displays the alternate text-only headline. I've quadruple checked the .css files and everything's loading ok I think. Also, in IE it doesn't display at all and every .css and .js file has an error according to the error log in IE8. Any help on this would be great as it's an urgent project! Cheers.

• Need CSS Help with a hover element - cant extend to left and right of page

  Hi there, Need some CSS guru help. If you visit my link: http://www.gabbr.com/js/viewer/cmedata/index1.html and hover over the years (top middles, 2008, 2009, 2010, etc) you will notice an orange bar extending from the top to the bottom of the page. I am trying to get the same effect on the left (month and day) but am unable to do so. The problem I am having is that I cannot get the orange hover bar to extend off the left of the screen for either #dayleft or for #monthleft. It extends all the way to the right margin of the screen but not the left. The problem is the margin-left: 15px; in #monthleft and margin-left: 80px; in #dayleft. But I cannot get rid of these since I require them for the letter spacing. Any advice?

  I am trying to prevent VS from breaking on JS errors. I have the following settings: In IE, under Tools-Internet Settings-Advanced (tab)-Browsing Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer) is checked. Disable script debugging (Other) is checked. In VS, under Debug-Exceptions-Common Language Runtime Exceptions JScript Exceptions (thrown and user-unhandled) are unchecked. In VS, under Tools-Options-Debugging-Just-In-Time Script is unchecked. There are some JavaScript errors that I just don't care about and it is driving me insane having to deal with them.

  I'm trying to get a list of the values of all checked checkboxes that looks like this: foo = { 'colors': ['blue', 'red', 'green'], 'flavors': ['vanilla', 'chocolate'] }; This is the approach I'm taking so far, but JS is saying that 'colors' doesn't exist when I try to push a new value to it. • reorder list elements - jQuery?

  Hello, I am experimenting with jQuery lately, and I was wondering if it's possible with js or pure jquery to reorder <li> elements. So if I have a silly list like the following: <ul> <li>Foo</li> <li>Bar</li> <li>Cheese</li> </ul> How would I move the list elements around? Like put the list element with Cheese before the list element with Foo or move Foo to after Bar. So is it possible? If so, how? Thanks!!

• Does window.open not work inside an AIR html component?

  I have a component in AIR like so: <mx:HTML id="html" width="100%" height="100%" location="https://example.com" locationChange="dispatchLocationChange(event)" /> The page it loads contains this: <a onclick="alert('onclick')">Alert</a> <a href="javascript:alert('js')">Alert</a> <a onclick="window.open('http://www.google.com','_blank')">new window</a> The 2 alerts both work. however nothing happens when you click the new window link. all 3 links works when in a real browser so I know its ok. Is there just no support for window.open in the AIR HTML component? or is this a bug? Is there a work around?

  Many js files are included into Scripts folder by default in ASP.NET MVC 2 Projects. I suppose developers use jquery library nearly every time they program a site, but what about other files? Please, can you tell scenarios and reasons when you: Use Microsoft.Ajax instead of jquery or mix both libraries? Do you use JQuery validation infrastructure instead of asp.net mvc one, or combine them both? Thank you in advance! P.S. there are also diferrent editions of the same file. Do you include different editions depenending on debug/release build?

  Is there any safe way to detect, on a web page, client side (JS), whether user has an Google/Yahoo/Live/? account? I know about some suspicious ways to do this by styling visited links and then sneaking on computed style attribute, but it's more of a hack, Mozilla and maybe other are planning to crack down on this, as it might be abused. But I need this to allow users more integration with their identity providers, like: Have a Google account? ~ load contacts for sharing from Google Contacts API Have an Yahoo account? ~ load contacts for sharing from Yahoo Contacts API none of the above? show no link I don't want to provide all these options to all visitors, would be nice if I can detect the account, and provide integration only in that case.

• Transparent Select/Option text in IE

  I've created the JS fiddle to demonstrate my problem: http://jsfiddle.net/C8NUf/1/ HTML: <select> <option> Test </option> <option> Another Test </option> </select> Style: select { color: transparent; } In chrome, the selected text "test" is properly blanked out by setting the color to transparent, in IE the test is still black. • Preloading images in HTML, is there a more modern way?

  I have an image loaded by JS on a mouse event. It's a fairly big image so I want to make sure it gets pre-loaded. I reemmber some old techniques from years ago and found this example: <SCRIPT LANGUAGE = JAVASCRIPT> if (document.images) { img1 = new Image(); img2 = new Image(); img1.src = "imageName1.gif"; img2.src = "imageName2.gif" } </SCRIPT> I wondered if this is still good/relevant, or maybe browsers automatically detect unused images and preload them anyway? Note my page has to support IE6, so I might still need older techniques anyway, but I'm still interested if more modern browsers have a better way?

I code in Python but combine it with Postgres and JS quite a lot if that helps. • In QT 4.6 w/ Webkit: How to handle popup window requests (WebView::createWindow)?

  Hi all, I'm new to QT and have been trying to create a test browser. What I'm trying to do now is to handle js-based popup requests. After reading the QT documentation, I learned that I need to re-implement the QWebView::createWindow method to do just that. Now I've re-implemented this method, but it seems to be not called when I try to click a link that triggers a popup window. Can any one help me? Do I need to subclass both the WebView and WebPage classes? If so, how do I do that? I'm quite new to QT and I've done tons of searches and found nothing. Thank you all in advance for any hint and advice!

• Simple Version Contol

  We work on a lot of small website projects. There are three of us in different physical locations. I would like a system that is very simple where the main concern is checking out and checking in web files (php, css, images, js) so that we don't accidentally overwrite each other's code. We also need a way to synch our local file systems with the files on the webserver and with each other. Rolling back to older versions is nice but features like branching and merging are not important. It seems like GIT may be overkill for our purpose or maybe not. Can you recommend anything?

• receiving OPTIONS instead of GET requests?

  Hi, all I want to achieve is to implement a servlet providing a json feed for my fullcalendar application. When I inspect http://arshaw.com/js/fullcalendar/examples/json.html with Bugzilla, I see that GET-requests are sent to receive the json feed. However, when I use this example within my scenario, fullcalendar seems to send OPTIONS-requests. The only difference is that I replaced "events: "json-events.php" with "http://localhost:8080/CalendarServletTest/HelloWorldServlet" (the url of my servlet). What do I miss? or is this really a bug?

• Is it possible to set different select2 parameters at different times?

  From playing around I can see that this code $("#Selected3").select2({ minimumInputLength: 3 }); $("#Selected3").select2({ placeholder: "Show a placeholder" }); will show me the placeholder but remove the minimumInputLength parameters value. Does anyone know a way please that this example could be modified so that the placeholder will be added without losing the minimum..Length value. Any answers will need to allow for the possibility of the statements being in separate files, i.e. one on the page and another in a referenced .js file. I am aware that this would be much easier if I set all the parameters at once, e.g. $("#Selected3").select2({ minimumInputLength: 3, placeholder: "Show a placeholder" }); but I am working within a framework which won't currently allow that.   My service is built and it is sending the config variable to my js file: [['SpellChecker','-','Undo','Redo','-','Bold','Italic','Underline','NumberedList','BulletedList']] The above is assigned to my javascript like so: var config = "<?= stripslashes($_REQUEST['config']) ?>"; I can alert out the config just fine: console.log(config) does send back the correct data... However, I get an error thrown in my console!: v is undefined [Break On This Error] var u=n.toolbox.toolbars,v=n.config.to...aximize','ShowBlocks','-','About']]; If I comment out the config: //CKEDITOR.config.toolbar = config; everything works fine but the configuration doesn't exist, of course...

• Communicating between an overlayed iFrame and the underlying page (LAMP)

  I have a small form is to be filled in. If the user is logged in, the form is submitted as normal. If the user is not logged in, I show an overlayer with an iframe'd page that contains a login box where he enters his credentials. If the credentials are correct I can "break out" of the frame to "return" to the main page, but how can I update this main page for example to show "you are now logged in" and to change the JS / PHP login that determines whether or not the form can be submitted normally and not be intercepted again by the overlayer prompt? Afaik, these two separate pages are not aware of each other so I'm struggling to find a solution to this problem. This is in a LAMP / jQuery / CodeIgniter environment. EDIT: Could CodeIgniter's XML RPC class be useful for this?

• Why Flash can't be rendered in a Windows Service?

  I'm trying to solve a similar problem as was described here - to create a Windows Service for taking snapshots of rich webpages (html+js+flash) and saving them to a PDF file. The bundle Firefox+cmdlnprint did the trick for me. I wrote a simple program running as a service that invokes Firefox to make a PDF. All seems well, the PDF gets created, but Flash is completely missing. Although, when started not as a service, Flash renders just fine. Can anyone shed a light on what blocks Flash from rendering and if there's a workaround? thanks!
