  • limitations of xpath to distinguish and locate web elements on page

    are there any alternatives to Xpath ? need to locate and extract specific element's texts for web scraping project. xpath seem pretty limited against layout changes on web pages. slight shuffle, and xpath no longer works. also different browsers have different Xpaths as i discovered. Firefox automatically adds tbody after table, while IE doesn't and so on.

    I have an existing WebForms project to which I'm adding MVC pages. I created an MVC project and copied the project type guids. It works fine, but I can't get Visual Studio to display the "Add Controller" or "Add View" wizards on my controllers and views directories (they're not /Controllers and /Views, they're in /Foo/Controllers and /Foo/Views). Is it possible to enable the wizards?

    I am using the W3C XHTML validator to check my sites and I am getting some errors on pages with FBML. Most of the cause of such errors is the "&" character. Since FBML values and attributes are generated on the fly, I have no way to encode the character properly before displaying it. Question: Is there a way for me to tell Facebook Connect to render the mark up properly? Thanks.

    I am currently saving viewstate of pages in cache. I can see that viewstate is rebinding values and controls on PostBack. It is working properly on postback. However, I need to recreate state on a non-post back page.The key i'm using for loading viewstate from cache is being passed in the querystring but I am unable to find a way to force viewstate to load on a non-post back page. Is there any way to force a load of viewstate on a Non-Postbacked Page?

    When I try to get all my "likes" (formerly fan pages) on Facebook Graph API, sometimes it returns me an empty set: { "data": [ ] } I tried with https://graph.facebook.com/me/likes?access_token=MY_ACCESS_TOKEN and with graph.facebook.com/vinch/likes?access_token=MY_ACCESS_TOKEN but the result is exactly the same (empty). Any idea of what it can be? I need it to know if a user likes (is fan of) a specific page.

    I'm using Eclipse's create InstallOptions menu to create a custom INI page with radio-buttons for repackaging the Blackberry Desktop installer. There are 2 sections for each type: "Internet" and "Enterprise". I need a user to select 1 of the 2 options and depending on their selection, the page will carry over the selection chosen in the custom page, jump to the INSTFILES page, and continue onto the end. I couldn't find any concrete documentation on getting INI pages to load in the script (I'm probably searching incorrectly), and then pass data from one page to the next (according to fields I guess?) Here's the low-down: I'm new to git. I just set up an account with github and I followed all their instructions flawlessly until I got to the last command of git push origin master Upon entering this command, I get the error message "fatal: No path specified. See 'man git-pull' for valid url syntax." If I type in git origin show the output I see is origin.
