  • solutions for rapid front-end development?

    im using mvc framework and i have learned some techniques that help me with different parts of RAD. models: doctrine/visual paradigm controllers/libraries: various design patterns now i only need to know what technique/solution i should use for the views so that i can create views more rapidly. cause i don't think it's efficient to code css/html manually, even though i understand it. its the same principle when using visual paradigm to create both my mysql database tables and doctrine model classes. i believe in using right tools will boost up development speed. so what could i use for the views to save time and energy and don't reinvent the wheel all the time? dreamweaver? any css generation tools? 960/blueprint for layout? suggestions? thanks

    I am trying to prevent VS from breaking on JS errors. I have the following settings: In IE, under Tools-Internet Settings-Advanced (tab)-Browsing Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer) is checked. Disable script debugging (Other) is checked. In VS, under Debug-Exceptions-Common Language Runtime Exceptions JScript Exceptions (thrown and user-unhandled) are unchecked. In VS, under Tools-Options-Debugging-Just-In-Time Script is unchecked. There are some JavaScript errors that I just don't care about and it is driving me insane having to deal with them.

    How do you calculate the linux process's Acutal Memory Usage and Not Virtual Memory Usage through the information supplied by /proc//smaps or maps or status or stat. To be more precise I need the heap usage only. I need to do this on an PowerPc based embedded system and hence I do not have utilities like exmap, valgrind etc. I understand the concepts of shared/non shared memory. I have read through the other topics given in this forum about the same but they talk more using the tools mentioned. What I need is the native way of calculation done by the same tools so that I may write a shell script for the same.

  • NSString cannot be released

    Consider the following method and the caller code block. The method analyses a NSString and extracts a "http://" string which it passes out by reference as an auto release object. Without releasing g_scan_result, the program works as expected. But according to non-arc rules, g_scan_result should be released since a retain has been called against it. My question are : Why g_scan_result cannot be released ? Is there anything wrong the way g_scan_result is handled in the posted coding below ? Is it safe not to release g_scan_result as long as the program runs correctly and the XCode Memory Leak tool does not show leakage ? Which XCode profile tools should I look into to check and under which subtitle ? I need also to manage developer access to projects (I think I should use gitolite for this). How can I do that? I am used to SVN which is easy because you can set username and password for each developer, which can easily access the repository without having the generate an ssh key and put it on the server. I've gotten that far, but now I'm having trouble ignoring files in a hidden (.svn) file tree.     I'm doing a word search using the following command: find . -exec grep -q [some_word] '{}' \; -print -o -name .svn -prune -o -name .ssh -prune -o -name .boneyard -o -name log -prune -prune -o -name tmp -prune Is it possible to use a regex to exclude all hidden directories? Note: The current command traverses the entire tree from the current location and exclude those being pruned. The exclusion needs to work for any hidden directory regardless off location.

    Hi, I want to create applications in windows that has complete portability (within windows OSes of course). I have tried using one application written in Visual C++ but I had a real tough time in making it run in other windows OS (like it required .net framework libraries to be installed). This put me on the back foot because I had to copy a set of DLLs from one machine to another and most of the time something works some does not. And I am TOTAL amateur in writing windows based applications since my technological forte is mostly Java. Where to kick off? (like which tools/IDEs to begin with since I am seriously into writing my own utilities/tools). I am open to clarification should you guys feel my question is vague/blunt. Thanks.

    I am not able to run on my android tablet. I have been following the Android training link It says To run the app from Eclipse: Open one of your project's files and click Run from the toolbar. In the Run as window that appears, select Android Application and click OK. But when I do the same , I do not see anything on my Mototola xoom Tablet. I have checke dthe following link for Setting up USB drivers.As per the link , I have confirmed that device is connected When plugged in over USB, you can verify that your device is connected by executing adb devices from your SDK platform-tools/ directory. If connected, you'll see the device name listed as a "device." C:\Android\sdk\platform-tools>adb devices List of devices attached 0380610842bf5157 device Can anyone please advise where I am going wrong. What should I do to make my eclipse code run on android tablet.

For instance, I made the 16x16 size icons, they looked ok in PS or AI, but after saved them as some other image types, they are not that clear at all. Is that because i used wrong color or wrong tools? I wonder if there are some special tools for making extremely small icons. So any options? How i can make them look more clear and clean? For 12.04, version 6.1 is the only one available and it doesn't appear to have the srvsvc module mentioned in these instructions. Is CIFS support dropped in the 6.1 version of likewise-open?
