• Using SWFObject, the flash moves 1 pixel to the right on Firefox

  Please check this page: http://islandhideaway.weebly.com/ For whatever reason, the flash slideshow moves over 1 pixel when opened in Firefox on my Mac. All other browsers render it fine, but only on Firefox it leaves a 1 pixel white gap on the left! I am using the most recent version of SWFObject. This unfortunately is a garbage Weebly site and I cannot use jQuery in the system so I can't do a real gallery... so let's save the whole "don't use Flash for that" pep talk. It's a favour for a friend and I am already aware of better ways to do it. :)

• Blending Three Images into Graphics Context Using Alpha Blend Mode kBlendModeOverlay

  Does kCGBlendModeOverlay not work exactly like Photoshop's Overlay blending mode? I'm trying to overlay three images into a graphic context via: [uiimageGreen drawAtPoint:CGPointMake(x, y) blendMode:kCGBlendModeOverlay alpha:1.0]; [uiimageRed drawAtPoint:CGPointMake(x, y) blendMode:kCGBlendModeOverlay alpha:1.0]; [uiimageBlue drawAtPoint:CGPointMake(x, y) blendMode:kCGBlendModeOverlay alpha:1.0]; In the end, if I overlay just two of the three, the result is much closer to my desired output color in places where both images intersect. Adding the third image, however, causes the first-drawn image's color to be dominant in the resulting mix of colors. (e.g. in the above code, green comes out dominant, when the result should actually be white) Do you get the same result if you try?

• Does anyone know of a good Commercial WPF Web Browser Control?

  I have an MDI WPF app that I need to add web content too. At first, great it looks like I have 2 options built into the framework the Frame control and the WebBrowser control. Given that this is an MDI app it doesn't take long to discover that neither of these will work. The WebBrowser control wraps up the IE WebBrowser ActiveX Control which uses the Win32 graphics pipeline. The "Airspace" issue pretty much sums this up as "Sorry, the layouts will not play nice together". Yes, I have thought about taking snapshots of the web content rendering these and mapping the mouse and keyboard events back to the browser control, but I can't afford the performance penalty and I really don't have time to write and thoroughly test it. I have looked for third party controls, but so far I have only found Chris Cavanagh's WPF Chromium Web Browser control. Which wraps up Awesomium 1.5. Together these are very cool, they play nice with the WPF layouts. But they do not meet my performance requirements. They are VERY HEAVY on memory consumption and not to friendly with CPU usage either. Not to mention still quite buggy. I'll elaborate if you are interested. So, do any of you know of a stable performant WPF web browser control? Thanks.

• Sharepoint BDC Error: The title property of entity tblStaff is set to an invalid value

  I am just starting to create our Business Data Catalog(s) for our practice management system and I am running into an issue w/ our staff table. Background: I am using Business Data Catalog Definition Editor to create my ADF. I am using the RevertToSelf Authentication Mode. I have tried a few other tables and they seem to work just fine thus far.. only issue is w/ the staff table. If I removed all the columns for the staff entity except the ID and a few columns for the name it actually works. So it has a problem w/ one of my columns in tblStaff. I receive this error even when I set up an ADF w/ just this one entity. So w/ no associations.. When attempting to view the record: http://servername/ssp/admin/Content/tblstaff.aspx?StaffID={0} w/ {0} replaced w/ an actual staff ID I get the following error: The title property of entity tblStaff is set to an invalid value. Things I have tried: I noticed that I do have a column in my staff table called "Title" and removed it from ADF w/ no luck... Same error.. I tried to use bdc meta man to create my ADF and I got the same error... Any ideas? Chris

• Tinymce extended_valid_elements for BBcodes?

  I use Tinymce with BBcodes plugin so the tags used in the editor are [B] [U] [I] [quote] [color]. If you are familiar with TinyMce there is a great option to filter all unwanted tags when pasting to the editor. Unfortunately i think this is not working for BBcodes mode, what i want is to remove any <TAGS> Or Other Unwanted BBcodes such as [url] & [img] So, my white list is : [B] [U] [I] [quote] [color=XXXXXX]. I'm already filtering in the server side, but i want this to be implemented in the client side too, So by example if someone copied from a webpage a mix of images and urls and formatted text, every image will be stripped and every url will be "unclickable" directly after pasting. Note: this is one of my failed attempts : extended_valid_elements : 'b,i,u,quote,color' Thanks

• Android - Camera functionality howto

  Hi, I'm using the example from the SDK (CameraPreview) and also the example from this site http://marakana.com/forums/android/android_examples/39.html When I run it, both gives this error "The application AppName(appname) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again". I can't run the debugger either because it's always "Waiting for debugger. Force close". (I have debuggable=true in the manifest file) The phone I have is a Nexus One. Running on the emulator gives me the black and white squares with a moving square. (So I assume it works on the emulator?). Even on the emulator it gives me the "stopped unexpectedly" error 50% of the time. Does anyone know what caused it? Thanks, Tee

• CSS Vertical Spacing Issue (Margin?) - Vertical Space Between Two Divs

  I've got the layout of my site mostly done. On the domain I'm testing this layout on - http://networkgenius.org/ - there is a vertical space separating the content-wrapper div and the menu div. I have the margins set to 0px for the vertical spacing, and this is the only area that is separated like it is. I'd like the white content area to be pressed up right against the bottom of the menu, so that none of the body's background shows between them. What am I doing wrong?

• Autocomplete and IE7 - slowness, sluggishness as overall pagesize grows?

  Hi, I have the autocomplete plugin (http://bassistance.de/jquery-plugins/jquery-plugin-autocomplete/, version 1.1 and 1.0.2) on a project to add pieces of "equipment" to a "project". On a fresh project the plugin works great; the data returned from the database comes back FAST, you can scroll the list fast, and can select an item and move on to the next one. Once I have a project established with equipment on it, and I go to add equipment, the performance is pretty bad. It takes 4-5 seconds to get the list of data back from the server, scrolling the list is painful, and the cursor takes several seconds to settle on an item. Repainting the page after the list goes away is slow. This is occurring in IE7, latest version. FF3 and Chrome are fine, very snappy. The pagesize is about 40K overall. I'm thinking this is an issue with the IE7 Javascript engine, or an edge case with this plugin and IE7; it works quickly enough in FF3+. I would appreciate any ideas, solutions, known issues, or thoughts on how to more specifically pin this down. I'd love to post sample code, but this is a corporate app, and I'm not how useful it would be given that the server side piece cannot be shown; ie: you can't pull it down and test it like a self contained piece of code.. • WCF Service instead of ASMX Web Service?

  I'm writing a SOAP Server that will act as an endpoint for an external client. The external client expects SOAP 1.1. I'll be taking embedded business objects in the SOAP messages and passing them to an internal application, getting responses back and responding with SOAP messages to the eternal client. I did the traditional ASMX based web services several years ago. Now, I've been exploring WCF Services and wondering the best approach to take. 1) Should WCF be considered a superset of ASMX web services? 2) Is there any reason to still write new web services using ASMX instead of WCF? 3) Does WCF provide better facilities for working with SOAP messages, as opposed to SOAP Extensions? 4) Can I restrict communication to SOAP 1.1 using WCF, the way I can with a web.config change in ASMX? 5) Does WCF have an easy way to log or review the requests that hit the service without resorting to something like SOAP extensions? Sorry my questions are not very specific; still trying to get handle on what I need to know... Using VS2008, Windows Server 2008. Chris

This is very challenging!! • GNUStep make with a precompiled (and prefixed) .pch header from Xcode project?

  I'm trying to build an Xcode project with GNUStep-make. Right now the project is very small (3 classes) however it will grow to hundreds of classes over the coming weeks so I'm trying to get everything figured out and well-organised now. Xcode creates a ProjectName_Prefix.pch file which is a header that: a) get precompiled and b) is prefixed to every file in my project; at least if I understand correctly. Now, how do I tell GNUStep-make what to do with this file when it builds? I've added it to the XXX_PRECOMPILED_HEADERS variable. Cioccolata_OBJC_PRECOMPILED_HEADERS = Cioccolata_Prefix.pch With this in place the build fails with the error: Making all for framework Cioccolata... make[1]: *** No rule to make target `/Users/chris/Projects/Mac/Cioccolata/build/GNUStep/obj/PrecompiledHeaders/ObjC/Cioccolata_Prefix.pch', needed by `internal-precompile-headers'. Stop. make: *** [Cioccolata.all.framework.variables] Error 2 I've also got the following in my makefile: ADDITIONAL_OBJC_FLAGS += -include Cioccolata_Prefix.pch -Winvalid-pch I'm not sure what I've done wrong here. I basically have tried to follow the GNUStep documentation for precompiled headers. None of my project's source files expressly include the Foundation framework since this header does that.

• UITableView's cellForRowAtIndexPath is not getting called after low memory warning

  I am new to COCOA and Objective C. I am working on an application which have two controllers with one table view in each, clicking an item form this table will lead to another controller to be pushed to the stack. All was working fine till i started handling low memory warning in app delegate. What i am doing in app delegate's applicationDidReceiveMemoryWarning is, deleting all of my model and popping out all controllers to its root view using popToRootViewControllerAnimated. Now my problem starts, once low mem warning is received table's cellForRowAtIndexPath is not getting called. All other methods of UITableViewDataSource is properly called. What i get on screen is a blank white screen. I am testing my app in iPhone OS 3.0 and development is done in Xcode V 3.1.3. Hope you guys can help me to nail this. Thanks in advance, Jinesh.

But, in Word, I see the code in black-and-white format; I loose the syntax highlighting as I get in the source code editor (for me, gvim). So, my question is, is there any way to do syntax highlighting of C/C++ source code in MS Word?

  Hello! My task is to make a control, that behaves itself like RichTextBox, but contains a graphical net. The only task, this net is solving, is to be visible. It should be solution in overriding OnPaint method, but it doesn't.   I am facing issues with text box size when veiwing in Fire Fox 3.6. < input class="dat" type="text" name="rejection_reason" size="51" maxlength="70" onchange="on_change();" style is as: .dat { font-family : verdana,arial,helvetica; font-size : 8pt; font-weight : bold; text-align : left; vertical-align : middle; background-color : White; } Text box size in Fire Fox is bit smaller than IE6. Not sure why IE6 and FireFox displaying text box of diff size.

• How to wrap text of html button with fixed width

  I just noticed that if you give a html button a fixed width, the text inside the button is never wrapped. I've tried it with word-wrap, but that cuts of the word even though there are spaces available to wrap on.   I really like gnu screen but there is a problem in my environment when I use it. Examle: username@domain:/var/www$ l Display all 130 possibilities? (y or n) when you click [Tab] to perform autocompletion there is a screen flashing for a very short period of time(looks like white screen but I can see it for a very-very short time). There isn't any problems with that when I execute the same action in normal/non-screen environment. • Monitor file selection in explorer (like clipboard monitoring) in C#

  Hi, I am trying to create a little helper application, one scenario is "file duplication finder". What I want to do is this: I start my C# .NET app, it gives me an empty list. Start the normal windows explorer, select a file in some folder The C# app tells me stuff about this file (e.g. duplicates) How can I monitor the currently selected file in the "normal" windows explorer instance. Do I have to start the instance using .NET to have a handle of the process. Do I need a handle, or is there some "global hook" I can monitor inside C#. Its a little bit like monitoring the clipboard, but not exactly the same... • Using CSS, how can I make overflow:visible; contents overlap adjacent <td> cells?

  I have the following CSS style code for my table: td { overflow: hidden; white-space:nowrap; } td:hover { overflow: visible; } However, when I hover over a <td> element whos contents (text) are hidden, the result is that the contents become visible but are behind the content of the adjacent cell (right side). I do not think that z-index can be applied to table cell elements, so is there a CSS attribute that I can specify within my td:hover style which will make the content of my <td> tag overlap the content in adjacent cells?

  There is only one text field on a HTML form. Users input some text, press Enter, submit the form, and the form is reloaded. The main use is barcode reading. I use the following code to set the focus to the text field: <script language="javascript"> <!-- document.getElementById("#{id}").focus() //--> </script> It works most of the time (if nobody touches the screen/mouse/keyboard). However, when the user click somewhere outside the field within the browser window (the white empty space), the cursor is gone. • Faster way to iterate through a jaggad array?

  I would like to iterate through an array that covers every pixel on my screen. i.e: for (int y = 598; y > 0; y--) { for (int x = 798; x > 0; x--) { if (grains[x][y]) { spriteBatch.Draw(Grain, new Vector2(x,y), Color.White); } } } ...my texture is a 1x1 pixel image that is drawn to the screen when the array value is true. It runs decent -- but there is definitely lag the more screen I cover. Is there a better way to accomplish what I am trying to achieve?

  I'd like all my content to flow around an image. To do this, I simply did img#me { width: 300px; float: left; margin-right: 30px; } This works for text wraping, but other elements go behind it. For example <style> h2 { background: black; color: white; } </style> <img id="me" src="http://paultarjan.com/paul.jpg" /> <h2>Things!</h2> Then the h2 background flows right past the 30px margin.
