• Debug startup program behavior

  I want to Debug a program called Freecall in my Windows 7 Professional laptop. Now it shows as a Startup item in "System Configuration" console. I tried to uncheck it in the Startup item and restart, but it keeps on adding itself to HKCU\Software|Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. i think its the same for Yahoo messenger..these programs keep on adding to startup even after I manually deleted the entry from the registry. I want to debug and find out if after starting the executable, the program writes to the registry. How can I do that? Is there a way I can run the binary in Sandbox mode? Are there any VS tools for this?

• JQuery div tag has children in FireFox but not Chrome

  I am using JQuery ajax to load images from a url, display them, and then place a button on top of each image. The code works in firefox, but in chrome, the div parent "photos" that should have all the children(one child div "photo" for each image received from the url) is 0. I have tried read() and load(), but nothing seems to work. If I run alert($('#photos').children().size()); in the Chrome console it returns the children. But at execution it returns 0. • Print the next X number of lines in Scala

  Trying to learn Scala using the Programming in Scala book and they have a very basic example for reading lines from a file. I'm trying to expand on it and read a file line by line, look for a certain phrase, then print the next 6 lines following that line if it finds the line. I can write the script easily enough in something like java or Perl but I have no idea how to do it in Scala (probably because I'm not very familiar with the language yet...)   Hello everyone. The Cocoa framework has a convention to always call self = [super init] in the init method of an inherited class, because [super init] may return a new instance. What will happen if I do this? @interface MyClass : NSObject /* or any other class */ { int ivar_; } @end @implementation MyClass - (id)init { ivar_ = 12345; if ((self = [super init])) { NSLog(@"ivar_'s value is %d", ivar_); } return self; } @end In the case when [super init] returns a new instance, what will I see in the console? ivar_'s value is 0? I can't think of a way to check this myself, because I don't know which class may return a new instance from its init method. Also, can't seem to find explicit clarification for this scenario in the docs. Could anyone help me out? Thanks!

• C# String builder, displaying data nicely spaced out.

  Hello, I am wondering how exactly can i order my date nicely in a stringbuilder? Meaning something equal to ("{0,2}", ....) to space the data nicely out. I do not want to use consolewrites of any kind, so the class can be re-used in a form, console code etc... Currently i am using " " for the spacing, but in overall it does not give a proper display.   If I've got a 2 dimensional array. string[,] table = { { "aa", "aaa" }, { "bb", "bbb" } }; And I'd like to foreach through it like this. foreach (string[] row in table) { Console.WriteLine(row[0] + " " + row[1]); } But, I get the error "Can't convert type string to string[] Is there a way I can achieve what I want, i.e. iterate through the first dimension of the array with the iterator variable returning me the 1 dimensional array for that row?   I'm trying to use the below code to fetch a regular expression like this /[computer]{3,8}/(what i think is any words containing the letters in computer ranging from 3 to 8 letters long) from a database (which i know is being loaded correctly). When i fetch, i get 10 results, all the same word... • How to optimize this script

  I have written the following script. It opens a file, reads each line from it splitting by new line character and deleting first character in line. If line exists it's being added to array. Next each element of array is splitted by whitespace, sorted alphabetically and joined again. Every line is printed because script is fired from console and writes everything to file using standard output. I'd like to optimize this code to be more pythonic. • C# compiler fails to recognize a class is implementing an interface

  The following code fails to compile (using VS2010) and I don't see why. The compiler should be able to infer that List is 'compatible' (sorry for lack of a better word) with IEnumerable, but somehow it doesn't. • C++ hook process and show status

  Ok so I am learning C++ slowly. I am familiar with all the console syntax and everything, but now I'm moving on to windows programming. Now what im trying to do, is create a DLL that I inject into a process, so it's hooked in. All I want the C++ application to do, is have text in it, that says "Hooked" if it's successfully injected, and an error if something wrong happened. Or even if I can do it without a DLL, Just open an executable, and when the certain process I'm trying to hook is opened, the status is changed to "Hooked". Also I have a safaribooksonline.com account so if there is any good reads you would recommend, just write it down. thanks

• How can I implement log4j logging to an existing J2EE Struts web application?

  I have recently inherited a J2EE Struts web app that was written back in 2002. There is no logging in the application other than the odd System.out.println(). I have added log4j logging so that I can write out some info to the console, but I'm concerned on how best to approach this. Any suggestions, tips, best practices would be welcome as I don't want to spend too much time adding logging to every method or class (or trying to find what places where logging would be best - ie. bad code blocks/defects). My current approach is to just add some logging to the few classes that I have been looking at to understand the code, but are there a few key places where I can add logging to maximize my use of adding log4j?

In order to do that I need some way of getting commands from php to the stdin for this backgrounded job. • Error message: "$(window).width is not a function"

  Hi all, i am trying to use a jQuery scrollbar called "Jscrollhorizontalpane". when i am trying to use it i get the following error message: "$(window).width is not a function" in firebug's console. i am new to jQuery do this might be very basic but still, i dont know what that means and why there is a problem. the scroller comes in a bundle with a few files, one of which is called "jScrollHorizontalPane.js" and i believe it holds the code for the scroller. i tried replacing $ signs there with the word "jQuery" (in case there is a conflict) but it didnt seem to help. also important to add that on the same page i am using another jQuery scroller (a vertical one as opposed to the horizontal on mentioned above) which works just fine and when i examined it's .js file, i could spot lines with "$(window).width". any ideas?
