• Benefits and features of different requirements-management systems and tools available?

  I am looking for a good comparision of different available professional requirement management tools. I am especially interested in the the features available within the different software solutions. Additionally to the "obvious" features I am looking for a proffesional Requirement Management System that supports for: multi-lingual customizable generation of documentation & history (graphs) search features (e.g. fulltext for comments), ordering, priorities version history bi-directional traceability of changes, artefacts, requirements, changes in requirements, etc. Any kind of integration of V-Model XT would be a really-nice-to-have-feature. Besides, I'd like to hear any personal motivated recommendations and/or experiences with different requirement management systems. Any input is highly appreciated. • Understanding hand written lexers

  I am going to make a compiler for C (C99; I own the standards PDF), written in C (go figure) and looking up on how compilers work on Wikipedia has told me a lot. However, after reading up on lexers has confused me. The Wikipedia page states that: the GNU Compiler Collection (gcc) uses hand-written lexers I have tried googling what a hand written lexer and have come up with nothing except for "making a flowchart that describes how it should function", however, isn't that how all software development should be done? So my question is: "What is a hand written lexer?"

• Why use 3d matrix and camera in 2D world for 2d geometric figures?

  I'm working in XNA on a 2d isometric world/game and I'm using DrawUserPrimitives to draw some geometric figures... I saw some tutorials about creating dynamic shadows but I didn't understood why they use a "3d" matrix to control the transformations since the figure I'm drawing is in 2d perspective. I know I'm drawing a 2d figure in 3d but I still can't understand if I really need to work with the matrix. Is there any advantage in using a 3d Matrix to control camera and view? Any reason why I can't just update my vertex's positions by using a regular method since the view is always the same... And since I want to work only with single figures, won't this cause all the geometric figures have the same transformations simultaneously?   Are cyclic dependencies a common thing in games dev? I ask as I keep getting into situation where I'm using and have been told more than once that they should be avoided. I am wondering if this is just a what people say as a general rule of thumb in the software development business. and that the nature of game programming produces such dependencies. // Foo #include <Bar.hpp> class Foo { bar& m_bar; }; and // Bar class Foo; class Bar { Foo* m_foo; }; I do this alot in Ruby, but dynamic languages are more forgiving in this instance, where as static ones, not so much.

  Quite a while ago, I published a paper with recommendations for a secure deployment of LDoms.  Many things happend in the mean time, and an update to that paper was due.  Besides some minor spelling corrections, many obsolete or changed links were updated.  However, the main reason for the update was the introduction of a second usage model for LDoms.  In a very short few words: With the success especially of the T4-4, many deployments make use of the hardware partitioning capabilities of that platform, assigning full PCIe root complexes to domains, mimicking dynamic system domains if you will.  This different way of using the hypervisor needed to be addressed in the paper.  You can find the updated version here: Secure Deployment of Oracle VM Server for SPARCSecond Edition I hope it'll be useful!

• How can I send audio input as chunked HTTP?

  I am trying to create an interface with an external server, and don't know where to start. I would need to take audio as input to my computer, and send it to the remote server as a chunked HTTP request. The api that i'm trying to connect to is described here p1-5 http://dragonmobile.nuancemobiledeveloper.com/public/Help/HttpInterface/HTTP_Services_for_NDEV_v1.2_Silver_Version.pdf I have never worked with audio programmatically, so don't know what would be the most straighforward way to go about this? Are there solutions that exist out there that already do this? I've come across references to Shoutcast, VLC, Icecast, FFMPeg, Darkice, but I don't know if those are appropriate for what I'm trying to accomplish or not. Would appreciate any guidance, Thanks

• Slideshows in elastic or fluid layouts?

  Hi folks, I'm building a new WordPress TwentyTen child theme using the ElastiCSS framework ( http://elasticss.com/ ) and am trying to figure out the best way of using some sort of dynamic content slideshow. What is the best way to implement a slideshow in a fluid or elastic layout such that it remains proportional to the other items in the content area? Should I even bother trying to obtain that? Or should I use like four different sizes in conjunction with something like the Less framework ( http://lessframework.com/ )? Thanks! (BTW, I've posted here because this was more of a "what's the best option" question than a "How do I program that?" question. If you think it would be more appropriate on SO, please move it there.)

• What method replaces GL_SELECT for box selection?

  Last 2 weeks I started working on a box selection that selects shapes using GL_SELECT and I just got it working finally. When looking up resources online, there is a significant number of posts that say GL_SELECT is deprecated in OpenGL 3.0, but there is no mention of what had replace that function. I learnt OpenGL 1.2 in back in college 2 years back but checking wikipedia now, I realise we already have OpenGL 4.0 but I am unaware of what I need to do to keep myself up to date. So, in the meantime, what would be the latest preferred method for box selection? EDIT: I found http://www.khronos.org/files/opengl-quick-reference-card.pdf on page 5 this card still lists glRenderMode(GL_SELECT) as part of the OpenGL 3.2 reference.

• Using DLLEXPORT to export DLL function With Class to C#

  In my previous revision game engine I deported major functions for the game editor for C#. Now, I'm beginning to revise the game engine with a static library. There's a already dynamic library created in C++ to use DLLEXPORT for C#. Just now I want to test out the newer functions and created a DLL file from C++. Because the DLL contains classes I was wondering how would I be able to use DLL Export. Would I do this: [DLLEXPORT("GameEngine.dll", EntryPoint="SomeClass", Conventional=_stdcall)] static extern void functionFromClass(); I have a feeling it's probably DLLImport and not DLLExport. I was wondering how would I go about this? Another way I was thinking was because I already have the DLL in C++ prepared already to go the C# Class Library. I could just keep the new engine as a lib, and link the lib with the old DLL C++ file. Wouldn't the EntryPoint be able to point to the class the function is in?

• Thunar not showing thumbnails in Openbox

  I am using openbox 3.5 and my file manager of choice is Thunar but the problem I am facing is thunar not showing thumbnails for folder,video files etc. My Thunar: You can see in the above image that thunar is not showing thumbnails for folders, files but it is showing for pdf and similar is the case for video files no thumbnails. So, what is wrong here am I missing some basic thunar config files. ranrag@ranrag:~$ echo $DESKTOP_SESSION openbox I looked into some forums and they mentioned that there is some dependency of tumbler with thunar but I have latest version of tumbler installed on my system. PS: I already tried thunar preferences but still no luck.

• Markdown, LaTeX combined in WYSIWYG editor. Is there any?

  I really like the way markdown is implemented in SE bunch of sites, where I can easily write code blocks, performing formatting or even use latex on some of sites like writing $\pi$. I also like how this online editor looks and feels. But it's all online. Is there any offline WYSIWYG analogs of notepag or WMD in Ubuntu that optionally supports pdf as an output format? Both markdown and latex desired. I desire to simultaneously use Markdown and LaTeX. I'm planing to use an editor for writing some technical stuff with math, but it's annoying to be constantly in "LaTeX-mode". So it would be awesome to immerse in LaTeX when I need formulas and use markdown when I need to speak on natural language. UPD. Almost all answers was quite useful, but none of them answers directly on my question. I'll accept @N.N. answer as a most complete.

  In SharePoint2013, you can use call web service action and loop. In this post, I will show you how to achieve this. 1. Create a List workflow called CallWebService 2. Create a variable called listurl and assign the value to http://sp2010/_vti_bin/listdata.svc 3. Create a dictionary variable called RequestHeaders and add the following key value pairs. 4. Call the web service with the HttpHeaders you just build in the previous step and store the response in the variable ResponseContent. 5. The ResponseContent variable is the Dynamic values (in SharePoint designer it will be called dictionary type) and it is new feature for SharePoint2013 workflow.   What is the best practice or advice for a programmer's CV? If I were a graphic designer or more of a web designer as opposed to a programmer, then I'd imagine a CV would have a bit more flourish to it. Yet as a programmer, aren't we judged on not only efficiency and results but also creativity, imagination and initiative? Should this be reflected in a CV? Or is it all about the information, no wishy washy designs in sight? Has anyone experimented with an original alternative to a PDF CV with a template from MS Word or Mac Pages?

Our company website is pretty awful, I'm currently redesigning the new one, the problem is they have a directory called regions, which contains page for around 200 different locations around the country, all stuffed to the brim with keywords and useless things. Some of these pages work and the traffic's good enough to keep a few of them. Apart from creating a page for everyone again, is there another way of targeting all these locations without having to create a new page for each or is the a more dynamic way to do it? Any ideas or suggestions?

  Compare two input dates to avoid invalid dates. In this example I have created two textboxes and namded as "TextBoxSeminarDate" and "TextBoxBookingDeadline". Booking deadline date must be before date to the Seminar date. Therefore I used Operator as "LesThanEqual". I have validated "TextBoxBookingDeadline" value comparing with the "TextBoxSeminarDate" value as follow.   <asp:CompareValidator ID="CompareValidatorBookingDeadline" runat="server" ControlToCompare="TextBoxSeminarDate" ControlToValidate="TextBoxBookingDeadline" Display="Dynamic" ErrorMessage="Please check the seminar date and select appropriate date for booking deadline" Operator="LessThanEqual" Type="Date"  ValueToCompare="<%= TextBoxSeminarDate.Text.ToShortString() %>">*</asp:CompareValidator> The important thing is "ValueToCompare" property of the compare validator. Here I have assined it to the value of the TextboxSeminarDate and then compered it with the booking deadline date.

• inverse search from Okular to Kile

  Upgraded to 12:04 now can't get inverse search to work (from Okular to Kile) My settings: in Kile I have: Tools - Mode - Normal in Okular I have: Settings- Configure-Editor (and set Editor to Kile) In Kile I have tried the buttons: PDFLatex and then ForwardPDF and also: Latex and then ForwardPDF. both bring up PDF in Okular, but SHIFT/leftClick does not do an inverse search. A bug in Kile? in Okular? in 12.04? in me? I'm using a System76 Pangolin P8. Thanks for any help

  I am new to ubuntu server and i have installed ubuntu server on a vm and installed LAMP etc but my problem is that my website is not visible outside. i have port triggering and added port 21,22 and 80. i really don't know what am doing, i am totally lost! I have a dynamic ip but i can access the server through 192.168.25.1 no matter how many times i restart the modem and from my public ip. I get redirected to my router settings what should i do??
