    i'm using Haskell with the Yampa FRP library which uses the arrows language extension. how can i do a simple putStrLn in a SF? mySF = proc x -> do y <- identity -< x*x putStrLn "Hello World!" ++ show y returnA -< y the arrow syntax complains about the expression not bein an arrow (of course), but even with arrows i get no output output <- identity -< putStrLn "Hello World!"

    I'm using NSDate to get a string such as "18 Jun 09", with code: NSDate *theDate = [NSDate date]; NSString *dateString = [theDate descriptionWithCalendarFormat:@"%d %b %y" timeZone:nil locale: nil]; This works, but only results in an English output. I need the output to be localized in the user's default language. Does Cocoa (Mac OS X 10.4, 10.5 in this case) provide a facility for this localization or do I have to manually localize for each case of day and & month names my self? (I have provided a locale, but although that does provide a locale-specific ordering of the date, it does not appear to do any localization of day-month names.)

These tests make a request to the view and compare the returned contents. How can I disable the translations while running the unit tests?     I've looked through countless questions on here and elsewhere and cannot for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong. I'm trying to store an array of CGPoints as NSValues inside of an NSMutableArray named points like so on the iPhone: NSValue *point = [NSValue valueWithCGPoint:firstTouch]; NSLog(@"NSValue *point = %@", point); [points addObject:point]; NSLOG OUTPUT NSValue *point = NSPoint: {120, 221} Everything is going smooth converting from the CGPoint to NSValue. But when I try to retrieve the point I get nothing. NSValue *getPoint = [points objectAtIndex:0]; CGPoint thePoint = [getPoint CGPointValue]; NSLog(@"Point = %@", NSStringFromCGPoint(thePoint)); NSLOG OUTPUT Point = {0, 0} The points should be the same but I'm getting a null result. For testing purposes this is happening in the touchesBegan method. Does anyone have any idea where I'm going wrong? Thanks in advance.

  • MYSQL Query with 2 columns in Table A related to 1 column in Table B

    I have 2 Tables, User and Mail. In User Table i have 2 columns that i will use, the ID column which makes the relation with the Mail Table and it is the Index of User Table and the Name column. In Mail Table i have Receiver Column and Sender Column. Both columns, Receiver and Sender have a number that relates to the ID Column in the User Table. In the User Table is where the name columns resides and i want to make a query that shows me the Receiver and Sender Columns but with the name of the user, not the ID. Up to this point i have this: SELECT name AS Send, name AS Receive FROM mail,user WHERE sender=guid; I know there is still a part of the query missing but i can not figure out what else to put to tell it to show in the SEND output column the name of the sender and in the RECEIVE output column the name of the receiver.

  • Setting a Global Doctype

    Is it possible using PHP (I was thinking may the phpinfo file or a php.ini file) or an .htaccess file to set a doctype for an entire subdirectory? Basically, in a nutshell, I'm using a software that uses XSL templates to output data to a set of HTML files. Modifying the xsl:output tag to include the doctype breaks the template and therefore, does not work. Just adding the doctype in the XSL file, breaks it as well. I need the proper doctypes in place for my CSS to function properly, cross-browser. I realize that I could add the doctype to the HTML files after export but, I'm really striving to automate this process. Any thoughts?

  • How to use files/streams as source/sink in PulseAudio

    I'm a PulseAudio noob, and I'm not sure if I'm even using the correct terminology. I've seen that PulseAudio can perform echo cancellation, but it needs a source and a sink to filter from, and a new source and sink. I can provide my mic and my audio-out as the source and sink, right? Now, here's my situation: I have two video streams, say, rtmp streams, or consider two flv files, say at any given moment, stream X is the input stream that's coming from another computer's webcam+mic and stream Y is the output stream that I'm sending, (and it's coming from my computer's webcam+mic). Question: Back to the first paragraph - here's the thing, I don't want to use my mic and my audio-out, instead, I want to use these two "input" and "output" streams as my source and sink so to speak (of course, I'll use xuggler maybe, to extract just the audio from X and Y). It may be a strange question, and I have my reasons for doing this strange this - I need to experiment and verify the results to see.

    I'm writing some code so that at each iteration of a for loop it runs a functions which writes data into a file, like this: int main() { int i; /* Write data to file 100 times */ for(i = 0; i < 100; i++) writedata(); return 0; } void writedata() { /* Create file for displaying output */ FILE *data; data = fopen("output.dat", "a"); /* do other stuff */ ... } How do I get it so that when I run the program it will delete the file contents at the beginning of the program, but after that it will append data to the file? I know that using the "w" identifier in fopen() will open a new file that's empty, but I want to be able to 'append' data to the file each time it goes through the 'writedata()' function, hence the use of the "a" identifier.

  • php connecting to mysql server(localhost) very slow

    actually its little complicated: summary: the connection to DB is very slow. the page rendering takes around 10 seconds but the last statement on the page is an echo and i can see its output while the page is loading in firefox (IE is same). in google chrome the output becomes visible only when the loading finishes. loading time is approximately the same across browsers. on debugging i found out that its the DB connectivity that is creating problem. the DB was on another machine. to debug further. i deployed the DB on my local machine .. so now the DB connection is at 127.0.0.1 but the connectivity still takes long time. this means that the issue is with APACHE/PHP and not with mysql. but then i deployed my code on another machine which connects to DB remotely.and everything seems fine. basically the application uses couple of mod_rewrite.. but i removed all the .htaccess files and the slow connectivity issue remains.. i installed another APACHE on my machine and used default settings. the connection was still very slow. i added following statements to measure the execution time $stime = microtime(); $stime = explode(" ",$stime); $stime = $stime[1] + $stime[0]; // my code -- it involves connection to DB $mtime = microtime(); $mtime = explode(" ",$mtime); $mtime = $mtime[1] + $mtime[0]; $totaltime = ($mtime - $stime); echo $totaltime; the output is 0.0631899833679 but firebug Net panel shows total loading time of 10-11 seconds. same is the case with google chrome i tried to turn off windows firewall.. connectivity is still slow and i just can't quite find the reason.. i've tried multiple DB servers.. multiple apaches.. nothing seems to be working.. any idea of what might be the problem?

    At the end of my Python program, I'd like to be able to get a summary of the number of items logged through the standard logging module. I'd specifically like to be able to get a count for each specified name (and possibly its children). E.g. if I have: input_logger = getLogger('input') input_logger.debug("got input1") input_logger.debug("got input2") input_logger.debug("got input3") network_input_logger = getLogger('input.network') network_input_logger.debug("got network input1") network_input_logger.debug("got network input2") getLogger('output') output_logger.debug("sent output1") Then at the end I'd like to get a summary such as: input: 5 input.network: 2 output: 1 Perhaps by calling a getcount() method for a logger or a handler. What would be a good way to achieve this? I imagine it would involve a sub-class of one of the logging classes, but I'm not sure which one would be best.

    Hi, I'm very new to ruby. I'm trying to search for any instance of a word in a text file (not the problem). Then when the word is discovered, it would show the surrounding text (maybe 3-4 words before and after the target word, instead of the whole line), output to a list of instances and continue searching. Example "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog." Search word = "jumped" Output = "...brown fox jumped over the..." Any help is appreciated. Thanks!     Hi all, I'm doing some calculations, and the results are being save in a file. I have to output very precise results, near the precision of the double variable, and I'm using the iomanip setprecision(int) for that. The problem is that I have to put the setprecision everywhere in the output, like that: func1() { cout<<setprecision(12)<<value; cout<<setprecision(10)<<value2; } func2() { cout<<setprecision(17)<<value4; cout<<setprecision(3)<<value42; } And that is very cumbersome. Is there a way to set more generally the cout fixed modifier? Thanks

    I've got a very weird and unexpected problem. empty() is returning TRUE on a non-empty property for a reason unknown to me. class MyObject { private $_property; public function __construct($property) { $this->_property = $property; } public function __get($name) { $priv_name = "_{$name}"; if (isset($this->$priv_name)) { return $this->$priv_name; } else { return NULL; } } } $obj = new MyObject('string value'); echo $obj->property; // Output 'string value' echo empty($obj->property); // Output 1 (means, that property is empty) Would this mean, that the __get() magic function is not called when using empty()? btw. I'm running PHP version 5.0.4
