Does it stop finalize() and continue GC the object? Or something else? I'm not looking for guidelines of using finalize() there are plently of pages explaining that.

    when i start tomcat from eclipse v3.3.1.1 it start but then if i try to access a web application from a browser it does not detect that the server is started...i need to stop the server from eclipse and then restart it by running start.bat and then the web app works fine...can any one tell me why is this happening ..?

  • How do i convert from milliseconds to seconds units to be shown in a Label?

    I have this code: private void Form1_MouseWheel(object sender, MouseEventArgs e) { if (leave == true) { if (e.Delta > 0) { if (timer1.Interval < 5000) { timer1.Interval += 1000; label2.Text = (timer1.Interval/1000).ToString(); } } else { if (timer1.Interval == 1000) { timer1.Interval -= 100; label2.Text = (timer1.Interval / 1000).ToString(); } } } } The original timer1 interval in the designer is set to 1000 milliseconds. In the mouse wheel event i did that it will show in the label2 the untis in seconds. And indeed when i move the mouse wheel up its slowing the timer and show it in seconds 1 2 3 4 5 The problem is with the second part i wanted that when its getting to 1 second or 1000 milliseconds if i will keep wheel it down it will show the units in 100 and change the timer1.interval in 100 units. So in label2 if it was on 1 second so now i will see 900 800 700 600 500 un till 100. And also the timer1 interval should be change to 900 milliseconds 800 700 600 untill 100. When its get to 100 just stop there dont keep getting under 100. The problem is with this part: if (timer1.Interval == 1000) { timer1.Interval -= 100; label2.Text = (timer1.Interval / 1000).ToString(); } Its not working at all.     First time i read some information about SSD's, i was surprised to learn they internally use NAND flash chips. This kind of memory is generally slow (low bandwidth) and have high latency while SSD's are just the opposite. But here is how it works : SSD drives increase their bandwidth by using several NAND flash chips in parallel. In other words, they do some data striping (aka RAID0) across several chips (done by the controller). What i don't understand is how SSD's drives managed to reduce latency? (or at least lot better than what a single NAND chip without any controller can do)

  • When adding second processor to SQL Server, will it automatically balance the load?

    We have a SQL Server 2008 R2 (10.5) on a dedicated box with a single 2.4Ghz processor, which regularly runs at 70-80% CPU. We are going to be adding a significant number of users to the application and therefore want to add a second processor to the box (scale up). Will SQL Server automatically use the second processor to balance threads, or is there additional configuration that will need to be done? In other words, will adding the second processor drop my CPU usage to 35-40% per CPU, automatically balancing the load? Based on what I read here, it seems that it will: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms181007.aspx However, I've read elsewhere that CPU performance gains can be made by assigning database tables to different filegroups, but I'm not sure we want to get that complicated at this point.

  • MonoTouch on Device - Vibrates at launch?

    I just deployed my app to my iPhone for the first time. Every time it launches it vibrates before running, and it runs fine. The build is a Debug | iPhone one of my app. Any ideas why it vibrates when it launches and how to stop that? It's definitely not something I coded up and I don't have any exceptions or issues when running in the simulator.

    Using apache. I have a demo of a webapp that usually uses https. However, for the demo, I want all traffic to be on http even if a user hits https. I have added the following entry and it works if you go to http:// AAAA.com:443, but doesn't work if you go to https:// AAAA.com. It gives you this error: SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length. (Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long) Here is my current setup: <VirtualHost 111.111.111.1:443> ServerName test.AAAA.com DocumentRoot /var/www/AAAA.com </VirtualHost> How do you redirect the https-http without encountering the SSL error. In other words, turn off ssl for https://

    I want to map e to mean end of line. I tried the following mapping in my vimrc: map $ e $ is the default end of line command. However, this doesn't work. I'm wondering what the problem is. Also, I want to map Alt+right/left arrow to navigate words. So, for example, Alt+right arrow would take me to end of word. This command is currently mapped to e. Any tips on how I would go about doing this? Thanks!

    I need a bootloader that will work as described: I want my computer to boot Windows, that is my main OS installed on a primary bootable partition. However, I'd like to have a 2-3 second span with blinking cursor, before Windows starts. If I press any key in that period it should launch Ubuntu from a small Truecrypt-encoded partition, upon providing a correct password. In other words I'm looking for a hidden bootloader that would expose itself only when a key is pressed during a certain time. Do you happen to know anything like that?

  • Windows 7 CD keys, are they interchangable?

    I am talking about during installation. Using regular licensing, not volume licensing. Amongst OSes of the same class, are CD keys interchangeable or are they locked to a specific subset of CDs? In other words: If I have 10 legally purchased copies of Windows 7 Professional, can I throw out the discs for all but one? And all the CD keys will work? UPDATE: How about for service packs (when they come out). If I have Windows 7 Professional SP1 and a Windows 7 RTM original? Do they change CD keys between service packs?

    Hello, I'm making a script to to run a bunch of multicast asr streams, but I do not know how to "stop" or "end" a multicast asr stream after a certain amount of time. Loop Suspend does not do what I'm looking for. I've also tried to add a sleep command followed by a kill command, but they kick in after the stream ends (so that approach does not work). Thanks for any possible help! By the way, I'm writing this script in bash.

    I need a way to automate the following process in Windows 7: Open an .html file in Internet Explorer Print to PDF Save the PDF with a patterned file name (i.e., original_name_YYYY-MM-DD.pdf) Ideally, I could drag and drop several files or open a whole folder of files at once and a PDF would be created for each one. A command line solution is also acceptable. The files have to be opened in the browser because parts of the page are rendered with JavaScript on page load. In other words, if you simply right-click on the file in Explorer and choose "print", the resulting file is not the same because the JS didn't run. If it helps, Internet Explorer can be set as the default browser, and a PDF printer can be set as the default printer.

    I was using Google account to log in to my Flickr. After several days, I entered into the Flickr account and found out that Flickr is moving into only Yahoo login. So I tried the Google login and it shows This account is not connected with any Yahoo account. Sign up for new........ or use existing etc... Can't remember the exact words. So I provided my Yahoo mail credentials. Now every time it is giving me a brand new account, rather taking me to my previous Flickr account. I can view the previous account photos, but After going there, it treated me as a outsider. New account showing me that I've not uploaded any photo. What's wrong? How can I connect with my previous account?

    Hi i developed a script which I set to run at startup i.e. when the Desktop appears. In the script I mounted a partition using sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt &> result.txt After executing script a file named result.txt was created which contained sudo: no tty present and no askpass program specified In other words the mounting failed. If I run the script using sudo ./myProgram i don't face this problem and the drive gets mounted successfully. Any suggestions please....

    I'm on a Mac Mini 2011 with VirtualBox installed. I have Windows 7 running as a Guest OS. My question: How do I "trap" my mouse pointer within Windows? In other words, I don't want my mouse to move outside to the Host OS. Ideally, I would be able to press the Host key to "untrap" my mouse. The purpose: I'm playing Warcraft 3 in the Guest OS and I can't scroll the screen since the mouse keeps jumping to the Host OS instead of scrolling the screen. This happens even in full-screen mode.
