  I'm on a Mac Mini 2011 with VirtualBox installed. I have Windows 7 running as a Guest OS. My question: How do I "trap" my mouse pointer within Windows? In other words, I don't want my mouse to move outside to the Host OS. Ideally, I would be able to press the Host key to "untrap" my mouse. The purpose: I'm playing Warcraft 3 in the Guest OS and I can't scroll the screen since the mouse keeps jumping to the Host OS instead of scrolling the screen. This happens even in full-screen mode.

• set chars to uppercase between parenthesis

  let's assume in vim I have following lines: all what (strong) people have to do is pushing (heavy) weights over (and over) again in order to gain muscles and I need to convert words inside parenthesis to uppercase, what is the most convenient way to do so? How do I tell vim it needs to select everything to the first (!) closing parenthesis? So far I came up with :%s/\s(.*)\s/\U&/g unfortunately this will uppercase everything between 'strong' and 'heavy' which is not what I want. Any chance to tell vim it should select the chars to the next closing bracket only? (sorry for the silly example, couldn't think of something more sophisticated... or at least vim related... huh)

• How do I avoid multiple key up/down/press events when holding a key?

  I'm creating a web front end to control a small robot. Ajax calls will be made on a keydown, to start the robot, and keyup to stop it. My problem is that when a key is held down the keyup, keydown, and keypress events seem to cycle continually. Does anybody know of a way to only have keydown fire when the key is first pressed and keyup to fire when it has been released?

  Is there a way to manually check current position of device AND ask device to automatically rotate it without waiting for user to actually rotate the device? Currently I control the rotation with several IFs in -shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation but in few situations I have to stop the view from rotating and enable it again and I don't want user to rotate the device twice to have the desired orientation.

  I use OpenOffice to produce a document in PDF format. This document is occasionally revised and reissued. I now need to produce a variant of this document with a small number of paragraphs replaced by other paragraphs. I would prefer to avoid maintaining two separate documents where 95% of the text is the same. In other words, from one ODT file I would like to be able to produce two PDFs with slighly differing content. Are there some OpenOffice features I could use that would help with this?

• Fresh install of nginx causes browser to download index.html instead of opening it

  When I view this in Chrome, http://localhost:90 the file is downloaded instead of displayed in Chrome. This question has been asked a lot of times on SO, but about index.php files. My problem is a plain jane HTML file, not a PHP file. That hasn't been asked yet. I was hoping the solution would be similar, but I haven't been able to figure it out. Here's my example.com.conf: server { server_name localhost; listen 90; root /var/www/example.com/html index index.html location / { try_file $uri $uri/ =404; } } My index.html file contains only two words, no markup Hello World I think it's the mime.types. The mime.types file has the entry for html in it. This is a fresh nginx install. nginx -t reports "test is successful"

• What is the correct way to create a single instance application?

  Using C# and WPF under .net (rather than WindowsForms or console), what is the correct way to create an application that can only be run as a single instance? I know it has something to do with some mythical thing called a mutex, rarely can I find someone that bothers to stop and explain what one of these are. The code needs to also inform the already running instance that the user tried to start a second one, and maybe also pass any command line arguments if any existed.

  I need to use preg_match to check that only a-z0-9. is used (including full stop(.)). I don't want to replace anything. My problem is that it doesn't notice white space at beginning of a string.   I am trying to match what is before /../ but after / with regular expressions, but i want it to look back and stop at the first / I feel like I am close but it just looks at the first slash and then takes everything after it like... input is this: this/is/a/./path/that/../includes/face/./stuff/../hat and my regular expression is #\/(.*)\.\.\/# matching /is/a/./path/that/../includes/face/./stuff/../ instead of just that/../ and stuff/../ how can i adapt what i'm doing to work?

My breakpoints are hit, but if I hit F5, the Unit Test Sessions window does not return until the test returns a result or I stop the debugging session.   I have an application where the taskbar flashes if an event has occurred. This is working perfectly, and was relatively easy to implement using a Win32 API described below: http://blogs.x2line.com/al/archive/2008/04/19/3392.aspx However, when I stop the flashing, sometimes the application is stuck in the "highlighted" state in the taskbar. This only gets reset by clicking on the application in the taskbar, minimizing it, then re-maximizing it. Is there a way to clear this from being highlighted without any user interaction?

• Why is jQuery's .removeClass() adding a space to the class attribute?

  I'm having some strange issues with .removeClass() and .addClass() in jQuery. Specifically it seems that when I use .removeClass() the class is indeed removed, but a single space is left in it's place. then when I .addClass("secondclass") I get class=" secondclass" (with the space in front). I'm using jQuery 1.4.1 Is this intended behaviour or a bug? How to stop it?

  I love AutuCAD. It's powerful, easy to use, and fits engineering mind. It rocks when you want to draw 2D diagrams and shapes and one the cool features I like about it, is its snapping power. You draw a simple rectangle, then you can very easily create a circumscribe circle around it. However, new version of it are becoming really heavy (in size) and need high tech hardware, because of its powerful 3D capabilities, and rendering engines coming with it. I only want the 2D part of AutoCAD. Is there any software out there, which resembles AutoCAD (like having a console, where you can type L and get the line tool, or having snapping capability, etc.), but is small in size? In other words, what software can be named as AutoCAD 2D alternative?
