  • Any ideas for developing a Risc Processor friendly string allocator?

    I'm working on some tools to enable high throughput data-oriented development, and one thing that I've not got an immediate answer for is how you go about allocating strings quickly. On risc processors you've got another problem of implementation that the CPU doesn't like branching, which is what I'm trying to minimise or avoid. Also, cache coherence is important on most CPUs, so that's gotta be influential in the design too. So, how would you go about reducing the overhead for a generic string allocator? Sometimes it's easier to solve a more explicit problem, so any ideas for string sizes of 5-30?

    assume I have a string "1,2,3,4" Now I want to replace, e.g. the 3rd field of the string by some different value. "1,2,NEW,4" I managed to do this with the following command: echo "1,2,3,4" | awk -F, -v OFS=, '{$3="NEW"; print }' Now the index for the column to be replaced should be passed as a variable. So in this case index=3 How can I pass this to awk? Any thoughts how to port the regexp to MySQL? Or maybe you know any other way to check if the string is valid UTF-8? UPDATE: I need this check working on the MySQL as I need to run it on the server to correct broken tables. I can't pass the data through a script as the database is around 1TB.

It works well this way, but cloning the List seems like such a hacky way to do this. While bound to Value, I've tried adding: RaisePropertyChanged("Value"); to the AddItemCommand and RemoveItemCommand, but this doesn't work, the ListView won't get updated. What is the proper way to do this?

  • Is it possible to preg replace unique variables into a string?

    What I want to do is use preg replace to replace matches within a string with a varying replacement, and I was wondering if anyone knew if that is possible in php or at least achievable by some means. For example, a string has two matches, then those matches will be replaced with two different variables. What I want are replacements to each be a unique id and I cannot figure out how this could possibly work or if php could even do this. For example if the match is 'a' and there is a sentence, 'put a smile on a person' then one 'a' will be unique id 98aksd00 and the other will be 09alkj08. I am retrieving my comments from a database so the preg replace is happening within while ($row=mysql_fetch_assoc($query)){ //preg replace If anyone could provide any insight into this, I would really appreciate it

    I'm changing our webservices to an async model. And for that I have to change over a hundred methods. Doing it manually is one (unappealing) option. Is there no way to programmatically parse & change multiple functions/code files? Example: [Webmethod] public void MyWebservice (string parameter1, string parameter2, string parameter3) { //Logic here } And change this to: public void InternalMyWebservice (string parameter1, string parameter2, string parameter3, AsyncCallback callback) { //Logic here } [Webmethod] public void BeginMyWebservice (string parameter1, string parameter2, string parameter3, AsyncCallback callback, object asyncState) { //Queue InternalMyWebservice in a threadpool } public void EndMyWebservice(IAsyncResult asyncResult) { //Set return values } It's basically the same thing I have to do for each webservice. Change the name to "InternalX", add a parameter and create the begin & end method.

    Hello, So I downloaded the latest version of zChaff (2007), and was trying out some very simple SAT problems. But zChaff does not output the solution (variable assignments). A very simple example input: p cnf 2 2 1 2 0 1 -2 0 And what I get: c 2 Clauses are true, Verify Solution successful. Instance Satisfiable 1 -2 Random Seed Used 0 Max Decision Level 1 Num. of Decisions 2 ( Stack + Vsids + Shrinking Decisions ) 0 + 1 + 0 Original Num Variables 2 Original Num Clauses 2 Original Num Literals 4 Added Conflict Clauses 0 Num of Shrinkings 0 Deleted Conflict Clauses 0 Deleted Clauses 0 Added Conflict Literals 0 Deleted (Total) Literals 0 Number of Implication 2 Total Run Time 5.1e-05 RESULT: SAT I can see the 1 -2 on the left of "Random Seed Used", but shouldn't this be outputing the variable assignments as "v ..." ?     I'd like to enforce standardized keys by storing them as static final String variables on a Java class, and either referencing or statically importing them, to use them as values in either XML, Strings, Methods, Annotations, etc. Does anyone know a good way to have Maven insert (like filtering) values like StringKeys.SOME_KEY into an XML file? e.g. something like <element value="${StringKeys.SOME_KEY}"/> or similar - the main idea is to enforce commonality and prevent key mis-alignment. Or an alternative solution to accomplish the same - with some semantic that if a non-existant String is referenced, that it fails during build? Bonus points if it works in C# as well.

  • Can I pass a string variable into an <a href> tag for a website link?

    I am somewhat new to web developing, so I am trying to learn along the way. I have a div that is 500 x 500. Inside of that div I have two divs that are each 250x500. So my outer div is filled up with the two inner divs. I have it setup so that when I click on the first div (the left one) a java script is called, and a prompt pop up box asks for a website URL which is then stored inside of a string variable. How can I make it so that the second div (the right one) takes the string variable from the alert box from the left div and puts it into an a href tag so that I can link to the website from the right div? Can a a href tag accept a value from a variable for its link? Maybe I am going about this all wrong, is there a better way I should be approaching this? Any help is appreciated!!
