  • Generate set/get methods for a c++ class

    - by Narek
    Is there any tool that generates set and get methods for a class. Just I create classes very frequently and would like to have a tool which for each class-member wil generate following functions: Member_Type getMemberName() const; void setMemberName(const Member_Type & val);

  • filter divs by class - jquery

    - by Jason
    Hi, there are several list filters in jquery (quicksand, filterprojects, etc.), but I am looking to filter divs by class. I want the same functionality of the above - you select a menu item attached to a class and the other items fade out. Anyone seen anything like this anywhere?

  • Class with proprties that haven't been set

    - by koumides
    Hello there, I am creating a class in C# which eventually will be part of a library that other uses can use. A user of this class has to set some properties and then use a public method to retrieve the results. What shall I do when a user calls the method without setting all the properties? Throw exception and expect the user to catch it? Thanks

  • Problem displaying contents of a class in Java

    - by LuckySlevin
    My problem is i have a class and in it there is a list of elements of another class. public class Branch { private ArrayList<Player> players = new ArrayList<Player>(); String brName; public Branch() {} public void setBr(String brName){this.brName = brName;} public String getBr(){return brName;} public ArrayList<Player> getPlayers() { return players; } public void setPlayers(ArrayList<Player> players) { this.players =new ArrayList<Player>(players); } } public class Player { private String name; private String pos; private Integer salary; private Integer number; public Player(String name, String pos, Integer salary, Integer number) { this.name = name; this.pos = pos; this.salary = salary; this.number = number; } public Player(){} public String getName() { return name; } public String getPos() { return pos; } public Integer getSalary() { return salary; } public Integer getNumber() { return number; } public void setName(String name) { this.name = name; } public void setPos(String pos) { this.pos = pos; } public void setSalary(Integer salary) { this.salary = salary; } public void setNumber(Integer number) { this.number = number; } } My problem is to print the players of a Branch with their name,pos,salary,number. For this i tried this simply : String p1,p2; int a1,a2; p1 = input.readLine(); p2 = input.readLine(); a1 = Integer.parseInt(input.readLine()); a2 = Integer.parseInt(input.readLine()); players[0].setName(p1); players[0].setPos(p2); players[0].setSalary(a1); players[0].setNumber(a2); ptmp.add(players[0]); myBranch[0].setPlayers(ptmp); System.out.println(myBranch[0].brName + " " + myBranch[0].getPlayers()); I wrote this just to try how to display. I created an array of Players, and Branches so they already defined. The problem is getPlayers() doesn't give me any result. What is the way to do this?

  • PHP coding - A class for each view or one class to rule them all?

    - by Kyle
    I am starting my first "programming" project in PHP making some sort of web application that give the linux program, Motion, a decent web interface. Anyways, I was curious as to how when real applications are programmed, do y'all go for a class for each view or one single class for the application altogether? I know this is more of a preference thing, I was just curious as to how it happens in real software.

  • Winform/Program and how to write class 1, class 2, class 3, class 4 in array to linklabels?!!?

    - by JB
    So my program works like this: using winforms, user enters ID number, using an array, based on the right id number, that student information and class schedule outputs in a message box! My question is how to take the 4 classes in the message box/array and write them to the linklabel text in form 2???? My Getschedule class contains the array and is listed below: namespace Eagle_Eye_Class_Finder { public class GetSchedule { IDnumber[] IDnumbers = new IDnumber[3]; public string GetDataFromNumber(string ID) { foreach (IDnumber IDCandidateMatch in IDnumbers) { if (IDCandidateMatch.ID == ID) { StringBuilder myData = new StringBuilder(); myData.AppendLine(IDCandidateMatch.Name); myData.AppendLine(": "); myData.AppendLine(IDCandidateMatch.ID); myData.AppendLine(IDCandidateMatch.year); myData.AppendLine(IDCandidateMatch.class1); myData.AppendLine(IDCandidateMatch.class2); myData.AppendLine(IDCandidateMatch.class3); myData.AppendLine(IDCandidateMatch.class4); //return myData; return myData.ToString(); } } return ""; } public GetSchedule() { IDnumbers[0] = new IDnumber() { Name = "Joshua Banks", ID = "900456317", year = "Senior", class1 = "TEET 4090", class2 = "TEET 3020", class3 = "TEET 3090", class4 = "TEET 4290" }; IDnumbers[1] = new IDnumber() { Name = "Sean Ward", ID = "900456318", year = "Junior", class1 = "ENGNR 4090", class2 = "ENGNR 3020", class3 = "ENGNR 3090", class4 = "ENGNR 4290" }; IDnumbers[2] = new IDnumber() { Name = "Terrell Johnson", ID = "900456319", year = "Sophomore", class1 = "BUS 4090", class2 = "BUS 3020", class3 = "BUS 3090", class4 = "BUS 4290" }; } public class IDnumber { public string Name { get; set; } public string ID { get; set; } public string year { get; set; } public string class1 { get; set; } public string class2 { get; set; } public string class3 { get; set; } public string class4 { get; set; } public static void ProcessNumber(IDnumber myNum) { StringBuilder myData = new StringBuilder(); myData.AppendLine(myNum.Name); myData.AppendLine(": "); myData.AppendLine(myNum.ID); myData.AppendLine(myNum.year); myData.AppendLine(myNum.class1); myData.AppendLine(myNum.class2); myData.AppendLine(myNum.class3); myData.AppendLine(myNum.class4); MessageBox.Show(myData.ToString()); } } } } My form 2 which will contain the linklabels is listed below: public class YOURCLASSSCHEDULE : System.Windows.Forms.Form { public System.Windows.Forms.LinkLabel linkLabel1;   • Continuing JavaScript "classes" - enums within

    - by espais
    From a previous question, I have the following: So I have implemented a resource class, now I'd like to continue extending it and add all my constants and enums (or as far as JS will allow...). This is what I currently have: var resources = { // images player : new c_resource("res/player.png"), enemies : new c_resource("res/enemies.png"), tilemap : new c_resource("res/tilemap.png") }; And this is what I would like to continue to extend it to: var resources = { // images player : new c_resource("res/player.png"), enemies : new c_resource("res/enemies.png"), tilemap : new c_resource("res/tilemap.png"), // enums directions : {up:0, right:1, down:2, left:3}, speeds : {slow: 1, medium: 3, fast: 5} }; ... function enemies() { this.dir = resources.directions.down; // initialize to down } When I attempt to access resources.directions.up, my JS script goes down in a flaming pile of burning code. Are enums allowed in this context, and if not, how can I properly insert them to be used outside of a normal function? I have also tried defining them as global to a similar effect. edits: fixed the comma...that was just an error in transcribing it. When I run it in Firefox and watch the console, I get an error that says resources is undefined. The resources 'class' is defined at the top of my script, and function enemies() directly follows...so from what I understand it should still be in scope...

  • Splitting up revenue among development team members on Apple's app store

    - by itaiferber
    A friend and I have started developing an app to put on Apple's app store. Development is going fine, but thinking ahead, we're trying to come up with an easy way to share any revenue coming from our efforts. The app store allows you to deposit your revenue into a single bank account, but there's no easy way to split revenue among several people. How do (small) dev teams split up revenue on their products, on, and off the app store? As far as I can tell, banks don't offer an easy way to automatically split the balance on an account 50-50 (or any other percentage, for that matter), especially on a regular basis. So how do teams deal with this? We're not incorporated, and we don't have an official business set up. We're considering depositing all the money into one of our accounts and manually transferring half the money to the other person, but this isn't sustainable over long periods of time. Is there a low-cost, sustainable, automatic process for handling these finances?

  • JavaScript Class Patterns &ndash; In CoffeeScript

    - by Liam McLennan
    Recently I wrote about JavaScript class patterns, and in particular, my favourite class pattern that uses closure to provide encapsulation. A class to represent a person, with a name and an age, looks like this: var Person = (function() { // private variables go here var name,age; function constructor(n, a) { name = n; age = a; } constructor.prototype = { toString: function() { return name + " is " + age + " years old."; } }; return constructor; })(); var john = new Person("John Galt", 50); console.log(john.toString()); Today I have been experimenting with coding for node.js in CoffeeScript. One of the first things I wanted to do was to try and implement my class pattern in CoffeeScript and then see how it compared to CoffeeScript’s built-in class keyword. The above Person class, implemented in CoffeeScript, looks like this: # JavaScript style class using closure to provide private methods Person = (() -> [name,age] = [{},{}] constructor = (n, a) -> [name,age] = [n,a] null constructor.prototype = toString: () -> "name is #{name} age is #{age} years old" constructor )() I am satisfied with how this came out, but there are a few nasty bits. To declare the two private variables in javascript is as simple as var name,age; but in CoffeeScript I have to assign a value, hence [name,age] = [{},{}]. The other major issue occurred because of CoffeeScript’s implicit function returns. The last statement in any function is returned, so I had to add null to the end of the constructor to get it to work. The great thing about the technique just presented is that it provides encapsulation ie the name and age variables are not visible outside of the Person class. CoffeeScript classes do not provide encapsulation, but they do provide nicer syntax. The Person class using native CoffeeScript classes is: # CoffeeScript style class using the class keyword class CoffeePerson constructor: (@name, @age) -> toString: () -> "name is #{@name} age is #{@age} years old" felix = new CoffeePerson "Felix Hoenikker", 63 console.log felix.toString() So now I have a trade-off: nice syntax against encapsulation. I think I will experiment with both strategies in my project and see which works out better.

  • Extract all related class type aliasing and enum into one file or not

    - by Chen OT
    I have many models in my project, and some other classes just need the class declaration and pointer type aliasing. It does not need to know the class definition, so I don't want to include the model header file. I extract all the model's declaration into one file to let every classes reference one file. model_forward.h class Cat; typedef std::shared_ptr<Cat> CatPointerType; typedef std::shared_ptr<const Cat> CatConstPointerType; class Dog; typedef std::shared_ptr<Dog> DogPointerType; typedef std::shared_ptr<const Dog> DogConstPointerType; class Fish; typedef std::shared_ptr<Fish> FishPointerType; typedef std::shared_ptr<const Fish> FishConstPointerType; enum CatType{RED_CAT, YELLOW_CAT, GREEN_CAT, PURPLE_CAT} enum DogType{HATE_CAT_DOG, HUSKY, GOLDEN_RETRIEVER} enum FishType{SHARK, OCTOPUS, SALMON} Is it acceptable practice? Should I make every unit, which needs a class declaration, depends on one file? Does it cause high coupling? Or I should put these pointer type aliasing and enum definition inside the class back? cat.h class Cat { typedef std::shared_ptr<Cat> PointerType; typedef std::shared_ptr<const Cat> ConstPointerType; enum Type{RED_CAT, YELLOW_CAT, GREEN_CAT, PURPLE_CAT} ... }; dog.h class Dog { typedef std::shared_ptr<Dog> PointerType; typedef std::shared_ptr<const Dog> ConstPointerType; enum Type{HATE_CAT_DOG, HUSKY, GOLDEN_RETRIEVER} ... } fish.h class Fish { ... }; Any suggestion will be helpful.

  • Should package structure closely resemble class hierarchy?

    - by Panzercrisis
    Pretty simple question. Should package structure closely resemble class hierarchy? If so, how closely? Why or why not? For instance, let's say you've got class A and class B, plus class AFactory and class BFactory. You put class A and class B in the package com.something.elements, and you put AFactory and BFactory in com.something.elements.factories. AFactory and BFactory would be further down the hierarchy package-wise, but they'd be further up class-wise. Is this sort of thing a good idea or a bad idea?

  • best practice for initializing class members in php

    - by rgvcorley
    I have lots of code like this in my constructors:- function __construct($params) { $this->property = isset($params['property']) ? $params['property'] : default_val; } Is it better to do this rather than specify the default value in the property definition? i.e. public $property = default_val? Sometimes there is logic for the default value, and some default values are taken from other properties, which was why I was doing this in the constructor. Should I be using setters so all the logic for default values is separated?

  • Encouraging business and team members to write more code

    - by Aliixx
    I am really interested to hear any ideas or working practices that can be adopted to encourage our team of developers to write more code. A little background here is involves a team of varying disciplines, experience and qualities and the nature of the work has a large focus on bug fixes and business logic / data validation over writing lots of new greenfield code or even refactoring. We are attempting to move to a more Agile philosophy and really what would be great is to hear any ideas that can be sold to the team and / or the business with the aim of: Writing more new code to improve experience, abilities and increase exposure to newer and emerging patterns and practices. Energizing the effort of the team and inspire. Encouraging wider input of new ideas, patterns and practices from the team as a whole. I would be very interested (and grateful) to hear any ideas or examples of ideas that can help here. Thanks!

  • Excel VBA: Passing a collection from a class to a module issue

    - by Martin
    Hello, I have been trying to return a collection from a property within a class to a routine in a normal module. The issue I am experiencing is that the collection is getting populated correctly within the property in the class (FetchAll) but when I pass the collection back to the module (Test) all the entries are populated with the last item in the list. This is the Test sub-routine in the standard module: Sub Test() Dim QueryType As New QueryType Dim Item Dim QueryTypes As Collection Set QueryTypes = QueryType.FetchAll For Each Item In QueryTypes Debug.Print Item.QueryTypeID, _ Left(Item.Description, 4) Next Item End Sub This is the FetchAll property in the QueryType class: Public Property Get FetchAll() As Collection Dim RS As Variant Dim Row As Long Dim QTypeList As Collection Set QTypeList = New Collection RS = .Run ' populates RS with a record set from a database (as an array), ' some code removed ' goes through the array and sets up objects for each entry For Row = LBound(RS, 2) To UBound(RS, 2) Dim QType As New QueryType With QType .QueryTypeID = RS(0, Row) .Description = RS(1, Row) .Priority = RS(2, Row) .QueryGroupID = RS(3, Row) .ActiveIND = RS(4, Row) End With ' adds new QType to collection QTypeList.Add Item:=QType, Key:=CStr(RS(0, Row)) Debug.Print QTypeList.Item(QTypeList.Count).QueryTypeID, _ Left(QTypeList.Item(QTypeList.Count).Description, 4) Next Row Set FetchAll = QTypeList End Property This is the output I get from the debug in FetchAll: 1 Numb 2 PBM 3 BPM 4 Bran 5 Claw 6 FA C 7 HNW 8 HNW 9 IFA 10 Manu 11 New 12 Non 13 Numb 14 Repo 15 Sell 16 Sms 17 SMS 18 SWPM This is the output I get from the debug in Test: 18 SWPM 18 SWPM 18 SWPM 18 SWPM 18 SWPM 18 SWPM 18 SWPM 18 SWPM 18 SWPM 18 SWPM 18 SWPM 18 SWPM 18 SWPM 18 SWPM 18 SWPM 18 SWPM 18 SWPM 18 SWPM Anyone got any ideas? • ActionScript - clicking and determining the sprite's class

    - by TheDarkIn1978
    i'd like to add all or most of my mouse events to stage, but in order to do that i need to be able to tell what is the type of the sprite being clicked. i've added two sprites to the display list, one of which is from a class called Square, the other from a class called Circle. var mySquare:Sprite = new Square(); var myCircle:Sprite = new Circle(); addChild(mySquare); addChild(myCircle); now when i click on these sprites, i'd like to know from which class they are from, or which type of sprite it is. //mousePoint returns mouse coordinates of the stage var myArray:Array = stage.getObjectsUnderPoint(mousePoint()); if (myArray[myArray.length - 1] is Sprite) ... so far i know how to do is determine if it IS a sprite display object, but since i'll only be working with sprites i need something more specific. rather than checking "is Sprite", is there a way i can check "is Square" or "is Circle"? if (myArray[myArray.length - 1] is Square)

Create New Hero\n" "2. View Current Hero\n" "3. Fight Stuff\n" "4. Exit\n\n" "Enter your choice: "; } However upon compilation I get the following errors: 220 `player' undeclared (first use this function) Unsure exactly how to fix it as I've only recently started using OO approach. The error has a comment next to it above and is in case 2 in the main. Cheers guys.

  • Flex : providing data with a PHP Class

    - by Tristan
    Hello, i'm a very new user to flex (never use flex, nor flashbuilder, nor action script before), but i want to learn this langage because of the beautiful RIA and chart it can do. I watched the video on adobe : 1 hour to build your first program but i'm stuck : On the video it says that we have to provide a PHP class for accessing data and i used the example that flash builder gave (with zend framework and mysqli). I never used those ones and it makes a lot to learn if i count zen + mysqli. My question is : can i use a PHP class like this one ? What does flash builder except in return ? i hear that was automatic. example it may be wrong, i'm not very familiar with classes when acessing to database : <?php class DBConnection { protected $server = "localhost"; protected $username = "root"; protected $password = "root"; protected $dbname = "something"; protected $connection; function __construct() { $this->connection = mysql_connect($this->server, $this->username, $this->password); mysql_select_db($this->dbname,$this->connection); mysql_query("SET NAMES 'utf8'", $this->connection); } function query($query) { $result = mysql_query($query, $this->connection); if (!$result) { echo 'request error ' . mysql_error($this->connection); exit; } return $result; } function getAll() { $req = "select * from servers"; $result = query($req) return $result } function num_rows() { return mysql_num_rows($result); } function end() { mysql_close($this->connection); } } ?> Thank you,

  • Class design when working with dataset

    - by MC
    If you have to retrieve data from a database and bring this dataset to the client, and then allow the user to manipulate the data in various ways before updating the database again, what is a good class design for this if the data tables will not have a 1:1 relationship with the class objects? Here are some I came up with: Just manipulate the DataSet itself on the client and then send it back to the database as is. This will work though obviously the code will be very dirty and not well-structured. Same as #1, but wrap the dataset code around classes. What I mean is that you may have a class that takes a dataset or a datatable in its constructor, and then provides public methods and properties to simplify the code. Inside these methods and properties it will be reading or manipulating the dataset. To update the database afterwards will be easy because you already have the updated dataset. Get rid of the dataset entirely on the client, convert to objects, then convert back to a dataset when needing to update the database. Is there any good resources where I can find information on this?

  • create a class attribute without going through __setattr__

    - by eric.frederich
    Hello, What I have below is a class I made to easily store a bunch of data as attributes. They wind up getting stored in a dictionary. I override __getattr__ and __setattr__ to store and retrieve the values back in different types of units. When I started overriding __setattr__ I was having trouble creating that initial dicionary in the 2nd line of __init__ like so... super(MyDataFile, self).__setattr__('_data', {}) My question... Is there an easier way to create a class level attribute with going through __setattr__? Also, should I be concerned about keeping a separate dictionary or should I just store everything in self.__dict__? #!/usr/bin/env python from unitconverter import convert import re special_attribute_re = re.compile(r'(.+)__(.+)') class MyDataFile(object): def __init__(self, *args, **kwargs): super(MyDataFile, self).__init__(*args, **kwargs) super(MyDataFile, self).__setattr__('_data', {}) # # For attribute type access # def __setattr__(self, name, value): self._data[name] = value def __getattr__(self, name): if name in self._data: return self._data[name] match = special_attribute_re.match(name) if match: varname, units = match.groups() if varname in self._data: return self.getvaras(varname, units) raise AttributeError # # other methods # def getvaras(self, name, units): from_val, from_units = self._data[name] if from_units == units: return from_val return convert(from_val, from_units, units), units def __str__(self): return str(self._data) d = MyDataFile() print d # set like a dictionary or an attribute d.XYZ = 12.34, 'in' d.ABC = 76.54, 'ft' # get it back like a dictionary or an attribute print d.XYZ print d.ABC # get conversions using getvaras or using a specially formed attribute print d.getvaras('ABC', 'cm') print d.XYZ__mm

  • kQuery : Trying to find a specific instance of a class by number

    - by mattelliottIT
    I guess I have just hit a mental block with this one; maybe some fresh eyes will help. Basically I have a few instance of the class "menu-item" which when clicked call the click function via jQuery and bring up a video. Instead of giving each on an id as well as a class I am trying to find which instance of the class was clicked (1, 2, 3, etc). Just can't seem to get it though. //click listener for menu-items $('.menu-item').click(function(event) { var o = $('.menu-item'); var count = o.length(); // switch(count) { case 0 : filename == 'letters'; break; case 1 : filename == 'the-gift'; break; } var videoPlayer = '<video controls width="618px">'; videoPlayer += '<source src="_video/' + filename + '.mp4" />'; videoPlayer += '</video>'; //place video $('#videoCont').html(videoPlayer); }); I'm trying to create an array there where each instance of the 'menu-item' is one array item. (btw, for now I am just proofing this with an mp4 filetype before I add in the ogv and webm formats). Thanks for any and all help!
