• Extract multiple values from one column in MySql

  I've noticed that MySql has an extensive search capacity, allowing both wildcards and regular expressions. However, I'm in somewhat in a bind since I'm trying to extract multiple values from a single string in my select query. For example, if I had the text "<span>Test</span> this <span>query</span>", perhaps using regular expressions I could find and extract values "Test" or "query", but in my case, I have potentially n such strings to extract. And since I can't define n columns in my select statement, that means I'm stuck. Is there anyway I could have a list of values (ideally separated by commas) of any text contained with span tags? In other words, if I ran this query, I would get "Test,query" as the value of spanlist: select <insert logic here> as spanlist from HtmlPages ...

• Html POST and return the same form with the values

  Hi, I'm learning web development, and I don't know how do this simple thing. I've a html form with "text", "radio" and "checkbox" controls, that POST the values to the server and it saves them, for example in a file. I save the POST in raw format: key=value&key=value&key=value&key=value and I'd like that when the user open the form back, return the form with the saved values already in the controls. Is there any neat way to do this? Or should I parse the POST string and set the values one by one in the controls at the server level? I think, I could return the saved data in a hidden input control, and after with a javascript I could do a getElementById(key) and set the value to each input control... but do I need to put the post string in a special format? How would you do it? Thank you in advance.

  Hi, I'm new to Java and Groovy and am running into trouble with the following Groovy script. I created this whittled down version of a larger script to facilitate debugging. The script is iterating through a list trying to calc a running total of the values of all objects in the list. Some or all of these objects' values may be null.   Given this table structure, I want to flatten out the many-to-many relationships and make the values in the Name field of one table into column headers and the quantities from the same table into column values. The current idea which will work is to put the values into a Dictionary (hashtable) and represent this data in code but im wondering if there is a SQL way to do this. I am also using Linq-to-SQL for data access so a Linq-to-SQL solution would be ideal. • Getting values from datagrid view column to list<>

  My main form in my application has a datagrid view that can have 1 to many user selected inputs. Column 8 of this grid is for the user to input "time in minutes." I have a separate class where I have built a timer that counts down from whatever time the user specifies down to 0. What I need is to create a series of alarms that go off as the timer counts down that are triggered by the user input values in column 8 of my datagrid. I think the best way to do this is to build a list< from the values in the datagrid. I for whatever reason can't quite figure out how to get the values from the datagrid in to a list< in my other class. Hopefully I explained in a way that makes sense.

  HI volks, I try to set some hidden form field values with an onclick event. Ok, after I did something like this: document.getElementById('hidden_field').value = 123; I can output the value with the firebug console by entering this: alert(document.getElementById('hidden_field').value); So the values are definitely set. But now when I submit the form, the hidden field values are still empty. Do you have any idea whats going wrong? Thx for your answers.

So, is there any reason where assigning such strings to enum values actually makes sense.

• Storing Values in colunms alphabetic?

  Is there any benefit to storing content alphabetic in columns? Maybe make lookups faster? If yes then when i add new lookup values to my tables do i need to rebuild the PK for the looup values to fit in the new text? Say a table like this: City_tbl city_id: example: 1120 City_name: example: New York. If I need to add Chicago to it, do i add it at the bottom of the list with the next ID which may be 2000 or do i inset it after the city in alphabetic order which would mean I need to update the PK Id of all following IDs by 1. Only benefit I know about is when I have to manually add lookup values without quering the database I can quickly check the lookup value list for exiting items with ease. But not sure if it may make lookups faster or something if the system knows the text is in aplhabetic order.

  Hi, I'm working on a vb.net application which imports from an Excel spreadsheet. It didn't seem right using the string variable to begin with. If I use a double or decimal type variable, the blank excel values come across as 0.0. How can I preserve the blank values? Thanks

  Hi guys! So, I have a dictionary with almost 100,000 (key, values) pairs and the majority of the keys map to the same values. For example imagine something like that: dict = {'a': 1, 'c': 2, 'b': 1, 'e': 2, 'd': 3, 'h': 1, 'j': 3} What I want to do, is to reverse the dictionary so that each value in dict is going to be a key at the reverse_dict and is going to map to a list of all the dict.keys that used to map to that value at the dict. So based on the example above I would get: reversed_dict = {1: ['a', 'b', 'h'], 2:['e', 'c'] , 3:['d', 'j']} I came up with a solution that is very expensive and I would really want to hear any ideas more efficient than mine. my expensive solution: reversed_dict = {} for value in dict.values(): reversed_dict[value] = [] for key in dict.keys(): if dict[key] == value: if key not in reversed_dict[value]: reversed_dict[value].append(key) Output >> reversed_dict = {1: ['a', 'b', 'h'], 2: ['c', 'e'], 3: ['d', 'j']} I would really appreciate to hear any ideas better and more efficient than than mine. • Storing acceleration values in Objective-C/Cocoa?

  Hi all, I'm writing for the iPhone and I'm trying to measure the time between maximum accelerations. Imagine you've attached your iPhone to an oscillating spring. What I want to do is measure the frequency of the oscillation. The way I am going about doing this is storing a certain number acceleration values (updated 20 times per second) in an NSMutableArray and comparing the current acceleration value with previous acceleration values. How do I add each updated acceleration value to the NSMutableArray and at the same time delete values from the back of the array as I don't need them any more? Thanks in advance!

• High Tq values for HAProxy

  I just took over administration of a new environment. A known issue is that the environment is known for high response times (20+ seconds), so I figured I'd turn on haproxy logging and see what is going on. I figured I'd see slow load times in the app servers, but I'm actually seeing high Tq values in HAProxy. The HAProxy is on EC2 and is NOT behind ELB. Sep 5 14:22:00 haproxy-apps01 haproxy[24695]: 76.14.153.221:3371 [05/Sep/2012:14:21:49.780] http-in default_apps/fe04-c 10936/0/0/55/10991 200 488 - - ---- 111/111/0/1/0 0/0 "GET /event_times/next?callback=jQuery170189312373075111_1346854917562&_=1346854918453 HTTP/1.1" As you can see, this one has a Tq of about 10 seconds. Not all the Tq's are high (1+ seconds), but a good percentage of them are (approx 35%). Normally when I see this behavior, I'd expect there to be network issues, but this is an incredibly high percentage of visitors to be having an issue like this, so I'm wondering if anybody has seen this or have any hints on diagnosing if the issue could possibly be on this box?

  With upgrade of VMWare Player I suddenly found my Debian Lenny VM not getting IP address. Some DHCP issue maybe, I don't know. So I have to set it manually every boot in Player window, via: ifconfig eth0 down ifconfig eth0 192.168.175.128 netmask 255.255.255.0 up I usually start up VM and then connect to it via SSH, so this procedure bothers me. Sure I can add it to startup script, but is there some special place to enter these values? Like, some config file or so?

  I am working in google spreadsheets and I am trying to do some counting that takes into consideration cell values across multiple cells in each row. Sometimes different people submit different articles that happen to be identically named (Andrew and John both submitted different articles called "Golf Stream"). Multiple versions written by the same person do not count as unique, but articles with the same title written by different people do count as unique. So, I am looking to find a formula that Counts the number of unique articles that have been submitted [4] (without having to manually create extra columns for doing CONCATS, if possible) It would also be great to find formulas that: Count the number of unique articles that have been pre-selected (marked "X" in "PRE-SELECTED" column) [2] Count the number of unique articles that have only 1 version [4] Count the number of unique articles that have more than 1 of their versions pre-selected 1 Thank you so much!   I have this newsletter I've written. I want to be able to use the values in the rows and some how have them merged into this html file I have opened in word. Sort of like a mail merge. In the newsletter I have 3 urls that look like: www.mydomain.com/php?id= I want to be able to replace all of the urls for all 230 records in the excel file. With something like: www.mydomain.com/?id=$id Where $id would get replaced with the id of the record. And the same goes for the rest of the rows like $firstname $lastname $email $phone number Is there a simple way to do this?

• excel chart dynamic range based on values

  I'm trying to create a chart that auto updates itself from a data provided. The range of the chart is always fixed/locked. The issue I'm facing is that when a value for a certain month is 0, I want it to skip to the last non-zero month . Meaning the ranges selected forming the chart should exclude the month with the value zero. Which in most cases is the top month. The image below should clear it up. Is there a way to have the chart range be dynamic based on certain values?
