  • Help with Event-Based Components

    I have started to look at Event-Based Components (EBCs), a programming method currently being explored by Ralf Wesphal in Germany, in particular. This is a really interesting and promising way to architect a software solution, and gets close to the age-old idea of being able to stick software components together like Lego :) A good starting point is the Channel 9 video here, and there is a fair bit of discussion in German at the Google Group on EBCs. I am however looking for more concrete examples - while the ideas look great, I am finding it hard to translate them into real code for anything more than a trivial project. Does anyone know of any good code examples (in C# preferably), or any more good sites where EBCs are discussed?

  • Jquery: change event to input file on IE

    Hello guys, I already looked all around, and can't find a solution: I have a form to upload files, and it should fire the submit after the file selection. On FF/Chrome it goes weel, and submit the form after file selection, but I can't do this on ie. Already tried with click/propertychange but nothing happens. Some code I already tried: $("#attach").attr("onChange", "alert('I changed')"); $("#attach").live($.browser.msie? 'propertychange': 'change', function(e) { ... }); Any sugestions to I try?     Hi! I've got the following code in a website: window.onload = resize; window.onresize = resize; function resize(){ heightWithoutHeader = (window.innerHeight - 85) + "px"; document.getElementById("haupttabelle").style.height = heightWithoutHeader; document.getElementById("navBar").style.height = heightWithoutHeader; } The onresize works fine, but the onload event never fires. I've tried it in Firefox and Chrome and neither of them works. Thank you for your help and go for the reputation! ;D

  • Catching the Facebook Login Event to change the HTML of the parent page

    I am trying to create Facebook based login using Javascript. Once a person clicks a button he should get a div replaced by another div, if he is logged in to Facebook. However, if he is not logged in to Facebook he is asked his Facebook credentials and he logs in. However, we need the user to click the button once more for the div replacement to happen in this case. I want to know if there is a way in which I can catch the Facebook login event and change the div? Is polling a way or there is some other way out. I want to use only Javascript.

  • C# Event Handlers automatically created by WinForms Designer

    Just moved from VB.NET to C#. In VB to connect and Event Handler to a Sub we use the Handles clause. From what it seems, this do not exist in C#. After creating a simple application with a button I realize that Window Forms Designer automatically created an EventHandler to my button1_Click function (after I double clicked it), in Form1.Designer.cs with this code: this.button1.Click += new System.EventHandler(this.button1_Click); But, in VB, the WinForms Designer create the Handles clause in my class, in the function header. So, C# create the default EventHandler in designer file, while VB creates in main class with control resides. Is this correct? Am I missing something here?

    Does anyone have an experience with some discrete event simulation library that could be used in .NET (C#)? Despite the basic functionality for queing events and dispatching them, it would be fine to have some non-deterministic behavior (e.g. failures simulation). I have some tips and I am even considering to write my own, but first, I would like to collect some recomendations. Thanks.     Do you know how to implement event notification mechanism in AIR ? For simplicity, consider an example: I want to build two applications: "television" and "remote". Among them, television is implemented using AIR. For the "television" I want to use my remote to send message to the television. How must I do to implement "television" in such way that, it runs in waiting mode and whenever it receives a message from "remote", it will process the message and make a suitable action (i.e. change channel, increase volume...).   • jQuery resize event for div children

    $("div.content-left > *, div.content-main > *" ).live('resize',function(){alert("Size changed")}); does not work, because the resize event only applies to window resizes. But in my case the divs change size late, because the content is loaded late by an ajax request - or by clicking a panel menu. I definatley need to avoid to register on all individual events of the children (ajax, click), because that can be very many different events and then it is not maintainable.

  • Display folder sizes in file manager

    In nautilus (or nemo) file manager, the "Size" column shows the filesize for files and the number of items contained in a folder for subdirectories: Number of items is not that important for me, it would be more useful if I could make this column show the total size contained under the directory. I had an extension on windows called foldersize which shows what I mean: I think it involved a service which ran in the background monitoring filesystem modifications in order to make sure the column was kept up to date. I am interested to know if there is any similar extension to nautilus, I would also be open to switching to another file manager to get this functionality. I am aware of the Disk Usage Analyser in Ubuntu, but what I'm looking for is a solution with file manager integration.

  • Is there an open source sports manager project?

    For a long time I've tried to search for an open source manager game, but without any luck. I'm looking for a suitable project for a reference to my own pet project. Features like well designed data model, tournament and fixture generation and understandable match simulation algorithm would be a great bonuses. I'm especially interested in game projects like Hattrick and SI Games' Football Manager, although it is irrelevant what the particular sport is. The project should be preferably web-based as Hattrick is. I've crawled through GitHub and SourceForge, but I found only a few sports simulation projects. Projects, which I have found, were either dead or not fulfilling my wishes. Do you know any open source manager game / fantasy sports game project, which would be available as open source, OR at least any material, which would be useful when building a such project?

  • Unable to re-install compizconfig-settings-manager

    While attempting to fix a problem with compiz settings manager, I got an idea from someone to purge compiz - sudo apt-get purge compiz. The compiz core packages are still intact however, the gui compizconfig-settings-manager is deleted and missing from synaptic. If I try to install through terminal I get: The following packages have unmet dependencies: compizconfig-settings-manager:i386 : Depends: python-compizconfig:i386 but it is not going to be installed Depends: python-gtk2:i386 but it is not going to be installed E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages Any suggestions or insight is appreciated.   • How migrate my keyring (containing ssh passprases, nautilus remote filesystem, pgp passwords) and network manager connections?

    I changed the disk on my laptop and installed Ubuntu on the new disk. Old disk had 12.04 upgraded to 12.10 on it. Now I want to copy my old keyring with WiFi passwords, ftp passwords for nautilus and ssh key passphrases. I have the whole data from the old disk available (is now a USB disk and I did not delete the old data yet or do anything with it - I could still put it in the laptop and boot from it like nothing happened). On the new disc that is now in my laptop, I have installed 12.10 with the same password, user-id and username as on the old disk. Then I copied a few important config files from the old disk (e.g. ~/.firefox/, ~/.mozilla, ~/.skype and so on, which all worked fine... except for the key ring: The old methods of just copying ~/.gconf/... and ~/.gnome2/keyrings won't work. Did I miss something? 1. Edit: I figure one needs to copy files not located in the users home directory as well. I copied the whole old /home/confus (which is my home directory) to the fresh install to no effect. That whole copy is now reverted to the fresh install's home directory, so my /home/confus is as it was the after fresh install. 2. Edit: The folder /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections seems to be the place for WiFi passwords. Could be that /usr/share/keyrings is important as well for ssh keys - that's the only sensible thing that a search came up with: find /usr/ -name "*keyring* 3. Edit: Still no ssh and ftp passwords from the keyring. What I did: Convert old hard drive to usb drive Put new drive in the laptop and installed fresh version of 12.10 there (same uid, username and passwort) Booted from old hdd via USB and copied its /etc/NetwrokManager/system-connections, ~/.gconf/ and ~/.gnome2/keyrings, ~/.ssh over to the new disk. Confirmed that all keys on the old install work Booted from new disk Result: No passphrase for ssh keys, no ftp passwords in keyring. At least the WiFi passwords are migrated. 4. Edit: Boutny! Ending soon... 5. Edit: Keyring's now in ./local/share/keyrings/. Also interesting .gnupg

    I have been told about a position that may be open to me - the role of a Software Delivery Manager. From what I understand this role does not already exist within my organisation. To be perfectly honest I'm not quite sure what a Software Delivery Manager's roles are. I have a few ideas and would appreciate some input around whether they are correct or not, or if there is anything missing: ensure the quality of the software being delivered document the relationships between the components being delivered ensure that the delivery of these components does not break other components ensure that the components being developed make the best use of the environments they are being deployed in being on-hand during software deliveries (though not actually performing the delivery of software, rather giving the Go) I have also been told that the role would include some software development work (which is important to me being a developer at heart!) - is there software development specifically associated with the role of Software Delivery Manager or is this more likely to just be a case of helping the team out when time is short?

    I am thinking of going directly to companies and then giving them resume directly rather than by email. I know 60% of comapnies don't like it but there is still 40% of getting into something. My few friends have landed the jobs this way. I just want to know that when i reach the company , should i ask the receptionist for manager and talk directly to manager or first i should talk to receptionsist and tell her what i want. May be receptionist won't call the manager if she knew my intenstion. how should i proceed. Please help.   • Event Handling for MFC Dialog

    This is my second question of the day, pardon me. I am writing a wrapper library to communicate with a scanner device. The source code was in C++ MFC. I am converting it to a plain Dll which will be invoked from C#. So, I am using DllImport in C# to call the wrapper library. Now I am provided with MFC code and the library is a ActiveX Object, at least I think so. class CDpocx : public CWnd { } So in my wrapper library I will have an instance of CDpocx and will call it via C# P/Invoke. But the problem is CDpocx also throws some events which I need to catch. In traditional app, I would just attach an function with it. But How would I attach the events on non MFC class. I have seen something like: BEGIN_EVENTSINK_MAP(CVC60Dlg, CDialog) //{{AFX_EVENTSINK_MAP(CVC60Dlg) ON_EVENT(CVC60Dlg, IDC_DPOCXCTRL1, 1 , OnReadyDpocxctrl1, VTS_NONE) //}}AFX_EVENTSINK_MAP END_EVENTSINK_MAP() OnReadyDpocxctrl1 is the function that handles 1 (Ready) event. How can I gain simmilar function in non MFC class. Regards, Maksud
