  • Server 2003 Terminal Services Printers not redirecting, no sessions created.

    Ok, odd scenario on a Windows Server 2003 Server Standard running as Terminal Server. Friday, installed 2 new Windows 7 machines to replace older XP machines. After adding these machines and their local printers, none of the otehr 16 Windows 7 machines can redirect printing to the server. I have checked Global Policy on domain controller, nothing is being blocked. In Terminal Services Manager, the client settings are set to User Client Settings. On RDP client, port redirection is enabled. I have tried disabling the Use Client Settings option and manually selected the options for print redirection and default printer connection, but still does not work. After some reaserching, I found this MS article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2492632 I went ahead and added the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\Wds\rdpwd\fEnablePrintRDR DWORD that the article references and set it to "1" to enable the option. I restarted the server, but still would not print. I am getting quite desperate with this issue because nothing seems to have changed when installing the two new clients and printers. I uninstalled the print drivers for the printers from the server. I have even gone as far as connecting each of the printers manually via UPD (\computername\printer) but even thought it works, it prints awfully slow. Please help!!!!

  • "Document in ADF" on Canon MX340

    I have a Canon MX340 multifunction printer. Recently, it keeps saying "Document in ADF" when I turn on the printer. I've tried clearing this multiple times, but as soon as the feeder wheels stop turning, in an attempt to clear the document feeder, it just pops up the same error again. This is particularly annoying, as it blocks all functions on the device - I cannot print, even though printing has no interaction with the document feeder. I've opened up the feeder device, as much as can be done with fingers alone. There just doesn't seem to be anything in there. I ran a sheet of paper through about six times, just to see if some dust might be getting in the way, and I've blown out the feeder with air. Still nothing. At this point, I don't care too much about the ADF working, I just want to disable whatever sensor is tripping this error message. Any ideas? I found this thread online, where a user has the same problem. But no resolution was reached there.

    Ubuntu 12.04 printer share keeps asking for password and I can't authenticate from any machine. Why?? We've installed it in two machine (to act as printer servers) and we get the same problem. It doesn't matter what we do, change or install. We can't figure out why the printer share asks for password even using all of the users that are registered in the server. What is wrong with Precise? I want it to work without a password, but it is not even working WITH one! I gave up! The samba version that comes with Precise is insufferable! I tried various settings that didn't work. I should've used Mint from the beginning. [Edit] My printers config.   • Windows xp printer queue issues

    I have a C# application (.NET 3.5 SP1) that I am printing serial numbers for product for a manufacturing company. I am using Active Reports 3 (ver. 5.2.385.2) to print these labels. However, when the printer(Zebra TLP 3842) has an issue, it seems like the printer queue reprints the print job. This causes duplicate serial numbers to be printed. Does anyone know how to ensure that this will not happen. I would rather not have a serial number print than have duplicate serial numbers.

  • bad printer isolation on print server or better way?

    I have noticed that when a printer or driver screws up on a Windows server it usually locks up or kills the print spooler and everyone can't print until it is fixed. Usually we have to put the troublesome printer on another server so when it fails, it doesn't take the whole group with it. That is assuming we ever figure out which printer is the problem. Is there a way to have it so that one bad apple doesn't ruin the bunch? Even if it is another form of printer serving, that would work as long as it's not hard for the user to find a printer and install drivers.

  • Ubuntu 14.04:LTS , HPLIP loses USB connection to HP laserjet

    This is my first post, so please let me know if i have inadvertanly broken any rules. Problem There seems to be a problem with HPLIP and USB connections in ubuntu 14.04LTS. After upgrading i managed to get the printing to work but today it has broken. Initial Issue (Solved) After upgrading to unbutntu 14.04 LTS my printer lHP LaserJet 1018 stopped printing (code=12) Looking through the Forumsthere are several issues with printitng and HPLIP so I was able to troubleshoot this. The steps I took were : Reran HPdoctor Ran hp-check Un-installed and installed the latest version of HPLIP (3.14.4) Checked the USB connections lsusb and lsusb-v Re-ran hpcheck Removed the printer from HPLIP Re-ran hpcheck Manually configued HPLIP to the printer hp-setup-g <xxx:yyy> And this worked HPLIP was able to see the printer in the USB , test page printed and was happily working for a few weeks. Current Issue Printer Not working However today my wife complains the printer is not working and checking see that although HPLIP has the same error code and did not seem to be able to see the printer although running lsusb could see the printer. Initially thought this may be due to usb given a new bus/device after being turned on and off and went to repeat the steps above at the moment still seeing an error in that the HPLIP is complaining that it cannot see the device **error: Device not found. From what I've read so far the Epson Stylus C84 won't print like this because it uses a little bit of color in even when you print only in black to prevent the ink heads from drying out.     Obviously the answer depends to some degree on the various versions supported, but in general terms - is there any reason I should pick one over the other? PCL for art and PS for text? Does one typically require less RAM on the printer? Speed differences? For home use it doesn't matter and only professional print people will notice and care?   • Word 2007 consistently crashes when I use my VPN

    Hi, My Office 2007 consistently crashes when I use it while connected to the VPN. This happens even with local files. When I try to paste stuff, it tries to connect to the printer (over VPN) and if I stop the process (which in itself blocks for about a minute), then Word 2007 is bound to crash a few seconds afterwords. My VPN is Check Point VPN-1 SecureClient Anyone knows what can be done with this problem?
